We were able to enjoy this restaurant location because our breakfast was included with our stay at the neighboring Best Western. We were waited on by regular staff and were given a cut down version of the menu for our complimentary meal. There was still a satisfying selection. The quality of the food was fantastic and the wait staff super polite. They have a full blown menu for paying customers that offers way more than breakfast. The offer Coca-Cola products as well as coffee and tea. The pricing is reasonable for the area and the portion msg are large. I will definitely stop here again if in the area and recommend it for anyone passing through.

This place is amazing, some really good food. Staff were fantastic! I had their redwood burger. Oh my goodness, my extra large hands have never felt so small. it tasted amazing as well. Definitely a must, if for nothing else other than to send photos to your friends.

Driving through Susanville we decided to stop at Lumberjack's because they had a 4 star rating. Unfortunately, I think we caught them on an off night. The server we had was incredibly rude, according to our receipt his name was Curtis. There were only 2 other tables besides ours, so maybe 6 customers in total. He continuously complained to the cooks that he had to wait ALL the tables and clear ALL the tables. When he asked me if we needed straws I said "No thank you" and he dropped them on the table anyway. I requested no tomatoes for my sandwich and he snarkily replied "That sandwich doesn't come with tomatoes"; however, the menu CLEARLY stated and the photo showed all sandwiches came with lettuce, onion, and tomato. I ordered the shaved prime rib sandwich, but I am not confident that I received it. The meat was overcooked and dry. The server decided I didn't need the horseradish sauce that was supposed to come with the sandwich because "most people don't eat it". My brother, if I didn't want it I WOULD TELL YOU THAT. Final insult...I went to the restroom as my S.O. paid the bill. As I came out to leave, that jerk was complaining about the tip we left. Sir, you are lucky we tipped because you did NOTHING to earn it. I think we'll try the one in Vegas when we get home to see if this experience was just an anomaly. Normally I would not post this but the food here can make you sick. This meat was not even cooked, just raw. I called requesting a refund and the manager still has not called me back. I even gave them 3 hours in understanding as it was near lunch time. Raw ground beef can be dangerous!

Absolutely terrible service. Ordered 3 meals. One came with a soup, the other with a salad. Asked the server after about 30 minutes if we were going to get the soup and salad before the meal. She stated we would. They showed up about 5 minutes later. As we started eating the soup and salad she brought our food out maybe 2 minutes later. My son’s meal was the kids ribs and fries. The ribs looked like they had a flame thrower taken to them. They were burnt black and hard as could be. Me and the wife ordered meals with baked potatoes as a side. The server came out and asked her if she could substitute for mashed potatoes because they were out of baked potatoes. Keep in mind the menu stated that baked potatoes were only available from 4pm on. We ordered at 5:30pm. The wife agreed to substitute for mashed potatoes. My food came out with a baked potato that was hard as a rock. They didn’t include any butter for it. Her plate came out with thee smallest portion of mashed potatoes I’ve ever seen. It was one small ice cream scoop. The server charged us for the loaded potato on the meal that we had to substitute for mashed potatoes. The prime rib was extremely thin and over cooked. It looked like crispy black bacon. Not sure how they stay in business with food and service like this. I do not recommend this place at all!!

Unfortunately had a really negative experience here. I was in town for a family member’s funeral and came in for breakfast prior. The waitress Catherine appeared annoyed with our presence at the restaurant. She ignored our table and when she finally did approach us she was incredibly rude and condescending. It was a rough start to an already challenging day. If I had more time I would have gone elsewhere. I hope in the future the staff is kinder to their patrons. I wish her well. You never know what people are going through.

Had breakfast the last two mornings complimentary from the hotel. The server seemed annoyed from the start. The second morning we had a party of 9, in which the same waitress stated we could not push two table together, we had to sit separately. When we were almost done with our breakfast, another table of 9 came in, in which they pushed together tables for this other larger party. Waitress was extremely rude and annoyed almost the entire meal. Would not return just due to the terrible service.

After traveling through the night. 5 hours, it was difficult to get a waiter’s attention for our drink orders. We were seated in the morning by Taylor, who seemed unfriendly right from the start. Instead of checking on us, she spent a long time chatting with another customer while we were waiting to order drinks and food. When she finally came over, she seemed annoyed and rushed us through our order. On top of that, the food was disappointing. I ordered the country fried steak with over easy eggs, and the eggs were watery, which made the plate unappetizing. Overall, the food just wasn’t that good, and the service made the experience even worse.

Server Jacob was very sweet. Food however was awful. Husband ordered chicken fried steak . It looked and tasted like it came from a frozen tv dinner. We had to send back. We had to ask for our toast 3 plus times and still never received it. We have eaten at lumberjack before from another town and it was delicious. I will never eat at this place nor would I recommend.

Subject: Concern About Burnt Food and Poor Service – Recent Visit to Lumberjack’s Susanville Dear Lumberjack’s Restaurant Management, I’m writing to express my disappointment with a recent dining experience at your Susanville location on August 8, 2025. During our visit, the food was an omelette that had noticeably burnt and overcooked ham and sausage which made it difficult to enjoy our breakfast meal. Our waitress kept ignoring us, so we just scraped the burnt meat out of our omelette. Jennifer the waitress responded when we told her about the burnt food, especially the sausage and the ham. She told us that other cooks called out sick except for one cook who came in at 7 o’clock, so I said to Jennifer that they need to be more careful with how they’re making and presenting their food. I wouldn’t even serve this to my dog. Her response was well oh well I don’t know what to say I’d be firing the cook for putting out this kind of food to the customers. Additionally, the service seemed inattentive and unresponsive to our concerns. This, combined with the food quality, left a very poor impression. We expected better quality, especially given Lumberjack’s reputation for hearty, well-prepared comfort food. I wanted to bring this to your attention in the hope that it can be addressed to improve the experience for future guests. I rarely give a 1 star review, but in this economy, businesses should at least pretend to care about their customers. The star goes to our waitress who is doing her very best against in spite of subpar management and an AWFUL cook. When we arrived, the restaurant had just a few tables full, so not busy at all. We were seated quickly. The hostess brought drinks right away, So that was pleasant, but the iced tea tasted dirty. We waited 22 minutes before the waitress took our order. She was very sweet and apologetic. I guess because we were seated in the back corner near the kitchen door, she was not aware we were there. I ordered California Omelette, no mushrooms (allergy), with a side of salsa, and &1.59 upgrade for onions and peppers in the country potatoes. My boyfriend ordered a giant breakfast. When the food came out, the onions and peppers were missing and there was no salsa. The waitress apologized and returned the food to the kitchen. No big deal. When it was returned, and after asking for salsa again, I took a bite of the omelette. It tasted burnt. I'm on a fast (so maybe a little hangry, but trying to be fair) and my window is open, so I dumped the salsa on it and tried. The second bite had a big ol mushroom in it. I don't want to be a pain, and send it back again, so I decide to leave the omelette and eat the potatoes. 2 bites in and I get another huge mushroom! Mushroom in the potatoes? Why?! I had to leave to go to the car to take Benedryl-and write this. The waitress was very cool about it. Not sure how my boyfriend is enjoying his. I guess I will find out when my throat stops itching and I go back inside. This town needs ONE good restaurant. Other than that, we love it here. We eat at Diamond MTN Casino a lot because they are consistent. Their food is decent and the price is cheaper than fast food (which I never eat) up here. But I thought I'd throw another business some money and change it up. Big mistake. If you have food allergies, check your plate carefully. I'm not feeling that well. They took the meal off the bill. But charged $3.50 for the poop water tea I didn't drink. BF said food was "passable". We won't be back.
