Opinions de Whitehouse Susanville
Delicious authentic Thai food, in a casual restaurant. We were passing through Susanville on a trip up to Washington and came here based on reviews. If you enjoy Thai food, you won’t be disappointed. The owner is very nice, my son and I enjoyed chatting with him.
Great little local restaurant. Easily accommodated my vegan requests. A gentlemen, who I assumed to be the owner, was very friendly and left a good impression on everyone on my crew. Overall good experience and would recommend :)
Staying one night in Susanville and this place had some good reviews so we tried it. We were not disappointed! Great food and excellent service. This place is run by a husband and wife duo so if busy you may have to wait a bit but when we were there it was fairly quiet and the food was brought out quickly and was very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend if you are in Susanville.
Delicious: Spring Rolls, Chicken Penang, Pork Chow Mein, Chicken fried Rice, Mango Sticky Rice. Yummy. And a little beer. Highly recommended
Absolutely visit this place anytime I am in the area for their Avocado Curry. I have yet to find it anywhere else when traveling. Their Thai Teas are also delicious.
The owner was very sweet and the food was delicious! I'd definitely recommend the Thai Iced Tea and the Mango Curry.
My wife and I stopped here as PCT hikers on our way to Chester and had a stop here. Excellent Thai food at a very affordable price. The owners are good people and we had nice conversation with them. It is a little off the main road, but well worth the find.
We drove through Susanville & found their only Thai restaurant .. we will always stop here when going through! The owner is a wonderful & fun gentleman, interacting with all of his customers - whether regulars or visitors to this small town. Get the curry! His wife (whom you can tell he loves) is cooking in the back & it was delicious! We left smiling & full!
The owner was funny and delightful. The food was authentic and tasty . It was also the only place in town that we could find vegan food which was lovely
Some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten! Great service; due to Husband and Wife business ! He takes your order and is Super polite and Friendly, She is a master at cooking these foods! Only 1/2 block from Rv Campground! Dumplings are a must! Fantastic sauce!
I am in Susanville for the summer and came to this place on my day off work. The food was delicious and hot, I got the yellow curry and it was yummmmy. Also, the owner is so nice. They have a couch in here and I told him I was tired, so he told me to “lay down and take a nap”. Great service! Come here!
We had the spring rolls, dumplings, green curry, and pad Thai chicken and it was all incredible. The green curry was especially good, my favorite. The owner chatted with us, very friendly guy, and really enhanced the experience. HIGHLY recommended.
I wasn't sure what I was getting into pulling up in the parking lot. Is this a bar, a frat house, an abandoned mini golf course? I don't care, best pad thai I've found in a 100 mile radius of Reno. And best price too, double win!!
Fortunately, the lady at the front desk our hotel mentioned this restaurant. It doesn’t look like much from from the outside, or inside for that matter, but my hangover noodles with fried tofu were wonderful, perfect sized portions at a reasonable price. The owner was one man band (host, waiter, busboy and cashier), so service was a bit slow, but he did it all with a smile on his face.
Wow, what an unexpected gem while passing through Susanville! The flavors here are so on-point and the proprietor is funny and pleasant to chat with.
This is hands down THE BEST restaurant in all of Susanville. The food is delicious and the service is 5 stars. I take all my family and friends here when they come to town and we are never disappointed. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.
I went to this place for red curry, it was SO DANG DELICIOUS. It's an odd atmosphere, needs a little cleaning, but the food is so delicious 😋
The food was delicious. The owner was very kind. Highly recommend stopping here
What a find in Susanville! I live in Santa Cruz, CA where there are many Thai restaurants and none as good as the Hangover Noodles with tofu from White House. Such rich, complex flavor with a healthy amount of Thai basil. And the rice noodles were so chewy and fresh. Not sure where they manage to source their ingredients but absolutely go there and try this dish! I also had Fresh Spring Rolls with a delicious peanut sauce. I really liked these because they weren't packed with vermicelli noodles like so many are. It was more liked a salad roll and I appreciated that. BTW, I am gluten intolerant and didn't react to either of these dishes. The inside of the restaurant isn't very nice but it's worth it for the food. I couldn't deduct a star because the noodle dish was so wonderful. If I lived here, this would be a regular place for me.
Went there for dinner hadnt had thai food yet so ordered the shrimp mango curry it was FABULOUS the owner was a delight and funny will definitely b going again
A must stop in! It is the only local Thai restaurant, but it is a simple and cozy aesthetic with very kind and genuine service. I do not believe there is a large staff so please be patient with the service. The food is very tasty and I’m honestly a little disappointed that I hadn’t stopped in sooner. This is a little gem here in a small town and I highly recommend you give them a shot. A lot of great comfort food. I can definitely say that this is a new personal favorite. Drop in and support your local Asian American businesses!
I ordered Avocado chicken shrimp egg plant curry. Awesome flavor. I will go back for sure. One waiter who did alot for all the people there. He was busy but still connected with everyone.
The food was excellent, with several veggie options. Spring rolls are very tasty. I liked the green curry with thai egglant and snow peas cooked perfectly. The mango rice dessert with sweet coconut milk and fresh mango was great too. A little gem of authentic Thai in frontier Susanville. Spacious dining room with high ceilings and room between tables.
Food was great. Service was great. The man at the coyter as most Asians can come across rude at frat but is a very very sweet man. Mu food was delicious 😋
We stopped over on the way from Lassen Volcanic for lunch. Tom yang soup was delicious and right amount of spice and filling. Fried rice with shrimp was amazing, very taste and well cooked. Everything was prepared fresh while we were waiting. Generous portion size. Good atmosphere and very friendly owner. Thank you very much!
Really good Thai food! Stopped here on my way from Lake Tahoe to Washington, and so glad I did! The man at the counter was super friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. I had the pineapple fried rice and egg rolls. Fabulous Thai tea as well! Highly recommend! 👍🏼
My family and I are from the Bay Area and we stumbled upon this place on a hunt for Thai food in this area. This place is definitely a go to. We come here for the Pad Thai with Tofu or the Yellow Curry with Tofu or Chicken. If your new to the area like us definitely give this place a try 👌🏼
Incredibly good food. And if you order takeout, they’ll let you use your own plastics containers to reduce waste! Pleasant chat with the owner about saving single-use plastics. Definitely stopping here again next time we pass through! Very GF/vegan friendly too.
Wonderful. Hard to fine but superb food and service. And we havexspent 8 days in Thailand.

First time here. Loved the food and the service. Food was done in a timely manner for our lunch break we had time to eat at the restaurant.. and I love that the food come in to go boxes. We will definitely be back.
Hidden gem in Susanville. We were passing on our way home (Bay Area) and decided to have lunch in the White House Thai. We ordered Tom Yam and Pad Thai. The soup had right amount of spice and all proper ingredients. One of the best Pad Thais I had in a while. Delicious noodles, the perfect balance of chewy texture and ability to absorb stir-fry sauce flavor. Food looked fresh, cooked while we waited. Friendly owner.
I never expected to find gluten free Thai food in a tiny town like this, but wow, this spot completely blew me away. It’s run by the sweetest older couple and you can feel the love in everything they serve. Nothing fancy, just honest food done right. I ordered the pad see ew with beef and my wife had the shrimp pad Thai. The noodles were thick, chewy, and clearly made in-house. Full of flavor, not greasy, and cooked perfectly. The pad Thai had that slightly sweet, savory kick with a squeeze of lime that brought it all together. Easily some of the best gluten free noodles we’ve had in years. Almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free. I originally tried to order the egg rolls and the owner came over to gently let me know that was one of the only items they couldn’t modify. He was kind and super informed about cross contamination and safe options, which made me feel so much more comfortable. It’s not a fast meal. It takes a bit for the food to come out, but it’s completely worth the wait. We were the only ones there when we arrived and almost didn’t go in because it’s tucked away in a random parking lot. But by the time we left, the place was packed. Locals clearly know this is a gem. If you’re gluten free and anywhere nearby, do not miss this place. Everything about it feels like a well-kept secret you’ll want to tell your best friend about.
This place is a hidden gem. Definitely recommend the Pad Thai or Hangover Noodles. The food is always on point👌
The food is delicious, the owner is so kind and friendly! I love the curry and great appetizers!
The best place I've eaten in Susanville. Hands down. Charming atmosphere - very cozy, quiet. Food was incredibly good. Served on paper plates, but who cares. Came here on a cold day, sat in the corner by a warm wood stove, had panang curry and shared some of my partner's Thai Basil chicken (SUPER fragrant and flavorful). Portion sizes were big and we still ate every last bite. If you're not a spicy food person definitely ask for mild or maybe extra mild. Didn't try any of the American food, but there are already so many burger/diner-type places around Susanville. That's exactly why it's great to have this little gem around.
We came in a half hour before closing after driving 14 hours, we were welcomed kindly and told to sit. The food was amazing! First real thing we ate all day and man was it soul soothing. The lovely gentleman running the place sat with us while we ate. It was a pleasant experience. I would highly recommend!

Looks strange from the street and parking lot but it's a good restaurant with flavorful food and friendly service. Some more exterior decor would make it feel more inviting. Green curry chicken was great. Pad Thai was tomato saucy but well flavored otherwise.
we had spring rolls and cashew chicken. Both were excellent! There is limited seating, and service was quite slow (I think they did not have their full staff). Our server was very friendly and helpful. Fair warning....if you have water with your meal it will cost you $2 a pop!!!
A nice local restaurant, that could use some TLC to the kitchen, dining area and building, but still serves up some great food. As others have noted, the building and interior are pretty old and not the most appealing, but the staff were friendly, and our food was ready by the time we arrived after calling it in. After receiving our food, it was quite delicious, so no real complaints, and would consider getting lunch or dinner here again.

This place gets far too many grumbly reviews than it deserves. The folks who run it are Thai. They know from Thai food. Is this LA Thai? No. It is solid and authentic Thai in a smaller town. You bus your own. Food is served in “to go” containers whether eat in or take out. The restaurant looks like lots of restaurants in Thailand in many ways. Hope you enjoy it. We did.

The food is decent for local food. The panang curry and drunken noodles have good flavor and taste. However, the restaurant isn’t clean. There is an exercise machine in the restaurant, and the owner up charges for bottles of water and other random expenses.
You get what you pay for. Dined in, order at counter, food in Styrofoam w plastic forks. Basic Thai food. Kinda greasie but it was a stir fry. Plenty of flavor. Clean spot, clean restrooms,Kinda decorated, Kinda feels like old cafeteria mixed with a teachers coffee lounge. Was quiet. We stopped through on a road trip, middle of afternoon, place was empty so food came fast.
The food was super tasty, but this restaurant was pretty gross inside. We had no other option in town, and I had just hoped that this mom and pop place didn't cause my celiac partner to have issues. Staff were NOT masked. Random magazines were everywhere, the kitchen looked like a hurricane hit it. I KNOW mom and pop places, but just looking at this restaurant inside is enough to not eat there. But this place has great reviews, so I waited for my food. Everything was gluten free, and super tasty.
I've been here twice. The first time I got pad thai, and it tasted nothing like pad thai. It was edible, but nothing like any other thai restaurant. The second time I got Garlic Lovers with tofu, which had to be the most uninspired thai meal I've ever had. Frozen peas, carrots, and broccoli with a mystery sauce, and crunchy garlic bits on top (and tofu added). If you've eaten thai anywhere else, this is edible, but can't compete. The food lacks the flavor of traditional thai restaurants. Staff is friendly and there seems to be quite a regular clientele. Maybe the american meals are better?

Food was good but lacked the true freshness that a typical Thai restaurant would have. Lots of canned items in their curry. Paid at counter first before receiving food. Dined in but was served in styrofoam, to go boxes, and plasticware. We were asked to throw away our trash when done which was some what rudely asked. We were the only ones at the restaurant so I think the owner could have done more catering for the prices he charges by serving us in traditional glassware and busing the table after finishing. I would only return in a pinch or just order out and not leave a tip.

Dirty restaurant. Totally self serve, order at counter, pickup at counter and was asked to clean table and put garbage in garbage can. And it clearly states in the menu that a 20% tip will be included on the bill. For what?? I did all the work! Tri tip dip was greasy and au jus sauce was so salty I couldn't eat it. Onion rings were greasy too, soggy. If you ask for water, there is a $2 charge so might as well get a soda. County health dept needs to do an inspection. I would never eat there again.
I didn't get sick so there's that. Food was lack-luster at best. Male waiter only grunted, not sure I ever heard a full word.

Portions weren't terribly impressive, food wasn't that impressive either. Prices were HIGH. I can't decipher the chicken scratch on the receipt, but $54 for 3 items and 2 iced teas is an expensive lunch. Won't be going back any time soon... --Update-- So looking over the math more closely, and checking with my wife who confirmed the food was listed on the menu at $11.95 per item, I did the math. 11.95 x 3= 35.85. Iced tea at the traditional 3.00 x 2 = 6. 35.85 + 6 = 41.85, which is what they put on the tag at the very bottom before adding tax and then somehow writing in $53.90 above all that (and putting $53.90 on the actual credit card receipt). So it looks like ALL DINE IN CUSTOMERS are subject to an automatic gratuity of 20%, which we went back through user posted photos and found was tucked away somewhere in the menu, but definitely wasn't obviously disclosed on the receipt. Then they even charged me tax on the tip (is that even legal?), so it came out to 21.4%!! And then you get a receipt to sign with a blank spot to still leave a tip! Very misleading. This place is the lobby of a former mini golf place (and still looks as such), and they have the nerve to do a mandatory gratuity and serve mediocre food! The service was questionable, the guy was pushy and rushed us at the end, no wonder they have to make the tip mandatory! ---2nd Update--- So when the charge finally came through on my bank statement, the restaurant didn't process the charge with the extra tip that I added (because I was unaware of the mandatory tip already being added) so the charge was just $53.90. It does make the whole experience feel a bit less crooked, and I wanted to make sure my review was fair and accurate, so I included this information.
Food was served in to go containers for eat in, plastic utensils. Funky smell. Food was not the worst I've ever had, but close. All for $90!
