Platia Greek Kitchen is praised for its delicious, authentic Greek food and friendly service. Standout dishes include the Bronzino, calamari, and souvlaki. Some found the atmosphere too bright and some experienced slow service or tough, dry gyro meat.

Beautiful. Feels like a Greek island and food tastes like I got on the plane and was there! Love this place! Cheaper than a plane ticket and feels like a mini vacation. Get the honey fig pie thing amazing and authentic pork gyro!
Excellent food, service and ambience.
The best Greek restaurant i have been too. The owner is a delightful man. The staff is kind and welcoming, and the food is out of this world. Try the octopus, you won't regret it.
The chicken gyro and fries are ridiculously good. I always get take out but the service seems good from the brief interactions I've had. Awesome restaurant.
Nice intimate Greek restaurant with outstanding authentic Grecian delights. Chicken souvlaki was delectable and all of their dips and grilled calamari were great and memorable...unfortunately I don't live in the area or I would be a regular!
As local Syosset residents we were excited to find a traditional Greek restaurant opened in a location that has seen its fair share of restaurants. The staff was hardworking and helpful. The water glasses were always full and the table cleared quickly after each course. For appetizer we had the grilled octopus and calamari, Both appetizers were very fresh and enjoyable. For our main course The Kids had chicken and fries, the wife had chicken souvlaki plate and I had the the gyro plate . Although I am not Greek I grew up in Astoria and have eaten gyro many times before. But I have to say, hands down this was the best and most traditional gyro meat that I ever had. The zaziki sauce was off the hook good. Greg , One of the owners stopped by our table to make sure we were having a enjoyable evening . Sending over cappuccino as well as two deserts. We were full but could not help wanting to endulge. Looking forward to going back soon. I hope that everyone , especially local Syosset & Woodbury residents will enjoy this establishment as much as we have
One of the best Mediterranean restaurants & one of my fave restaurants! Love the grilled calamari, moussaka, grilled lamb and horta. Mixta grill for two was tremendous & delicious. Great char grilled pork souvlaki! If they have the scallops special, get it! So good. Friendly service and lovely owners. Plenty of parking. Mediterranean decor.
Wonderful dining experience. Went on a Saturday night, 7:30, prime time and it was crowded. However, we called ahead earlier in the evening and got seated right away. Portions are large, food delicious and service attentive. Highly recommended restaurant!
We dinned at platia Saturday Night with a few other couples. Our experience was impeccable. First, the Greek wine was amazing. Our appetizers were the grilled octopus and the feta with meli. I have never tasted anything like this. So delicious. We all love fish and the bronzini was so delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant Great and fresh Greek food!!
When I stopped in for a quick lunch early one weekday. Very good greek salad served pretty quickly. Everything fresh and tasty. dolmades, pepperoncini, feta with good portions. Nice clean place, good quality food, very reasonable price.
I am not much about writing reviews but this place really stood out! Everything was so fresh from the hummus they give to you to the many assortment of fish entrees they have on the menu. The staff was dynamite and the decor was simple with a Mediterranean vibe. I went with a friend and as an appetizer we split the octopus salad.. so tasty and so fresh went well with the bottle of Riesling we ordered too. Then we each had an entree, I had the red snapper and my friend had the bronzini again so fresh and tasty and the portion was incredible!!!! The entree came with 2 sides of your choice we both got the lemon potatoes and I had mixed grilled vegetables and my friend had horta which tasted like broccoli rabe ...delicious!! We were not done there.. Since our meal was outrageous we had to try the dessert so we split the GALAKTOBOUREKO... Yes Yes Yes... I did not spell it wrong lol... it's custard wrapped in a phyllo dough with a sweet light syrup on top.. it was scrumptious and we washed it down with a frappe and espresso☕. I would highly recommend this place!! 👍 Salute🥂
Had the most wonderful dining experience here last night. Our server Piadora was fabulous and very knowledgeable. The food was authentic and delicious! Felt like a trip to Greece. You won’t be disappointed!!😊
I love this restaurant; the food is so good. You have to have the octopus, zucchini fries, the saganaki and the list goes on & on. The branzino is amazing, definitely worth a try. So simple yet so tasty. The service is fast and friendly. They have a nice size parking lot. I highly recommend Platia.
Delicious food, superb service and a great overall ambiance. Portion sizes are good and the pita and various dips are fantastic. All of the staff are very pleasant and it was a great dining experience.
I’ve been wanting to find a new Greek restaurant to go since the one I went to for years recently shut down & the other has been under renovation for a year. Anyhow, I’m happy I stopped into this place based on the reviews. The decor made feel like I was in Greece, the waitress was attentive & informative, & the food was delicious. The restaurant gives generous portions, too. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the drink, but it was more of my own taste preference then how it was made. Anyhow, that being I look forward to returning in the future for some authentic delicious Greek food.
I frequently dine at Platia. Food is always fresh and the staff is always welcoming. I love the chicken souvlaki platter and the scallops.
Felt like I was in a scene from My Big Fat Greek Wedding and I loved it!! Food was great, staff super nice and they even have live music on Sundays! Great family restaurant. I'm glad we found this place
Absolutely love this place. Food is outstanding, everything is very fresh. Every meal we've had here was terrific. Love it!
Great Greek Food at good prices. Restaurant is at a good location with parking. The seating is comfortable and staff welcoming.
A true Greek experience! Absolutely delicious and authentic food, which me and my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely be coming back, and with guests next time! As a Greek person, coming to this restaurant reminded me of home, can't wait to dine here again.
If you would like to experience authentic Greek food this is the place to come. Waitress was friendly and the service was great! Felt like I was in a restaurant in Greece. Looking forward to going back!! Repeat visit today. Came all the way from Brooklyn to experience once again authentic Greek food. I feel like I'm in Greece but without the travel expense. Highly recommended!!
Hands down the best Greek food/restaurant I’ve ever been to. Food was unrivaled, drinks were incredible and service was so attentive. Nice people, down to earth and out of this world greek cuisine that was worth every penny. I’m not from this area but actively dreaming about going back.
I came here to celebrate good news and everyone was so generous and kind. Melina was the absolute sweetest waitress I have ever had. I will be a loyal regular from today on! What an amazing restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE.
Very good Greek food. I recommend the dinner for 2. They give you alot of food you cannot even finish it. Tastes great as well as their desserts. Very nice wait service.
This place is wonderful! They are very friendly, the food is great and the prices reasonable. Their Greek salad is unbelievable. We had Moussaka and Pasticio ( sure I’m spelling it wrong ). They were both great.
We have been coming here for years! Our favorite greek resturaunt on long island. The ambiance of the resturaunt reminds me of the greek island my husband is from. The food is authentic as you can get in the states. We recommended the fig honey sesame pie appetizer, zucchini and eggplant chips, authentic pork yeero and chicken platter! I think the fries changed and they used to be a different shape We preffered but its still amazing! Next time we will try the mixed grill! The sour cherry cheesecake is amazing! The service is amazing.
Attended a graduation luncheon here recently. The food is delicious! The service was delivered with timeliness and kindness. I highly recommended this place! It would be worth the hour drive from my home to eat here!
Excellent service, our waitress made sure we were ready for each dish. Everything was delicious and portions were excellent. Definitely will return
Been going here for decades. Service, food and atmosphere has been consistently terrific.
I soooo loved it my whole family loved this place ! We went there with a group of people after a small lil wedding and it was such a nice well organized establishment very friendly we went early so it wasn’t packed how it usually is at night it looked / felt like we were in greece for a moment I’m Greek my self so this was REAL Greek food ! Most places say it’s Greek and it really isn’t so the fact that they serve real authentic Greek dishes is just great everything tasted amazing ! They even had great wine and Champagne. we loved the outside setting I attached a photo .. they were so kind to write just married on the cake overall my favorite place my mom and sdad love talking about the lamb chops till this day definitely a big recommendation my kids loved the gyros another great dish for picky kids ! any age and picky ness this is the place to get ur taste buds in and u will not regret it ! So glad we picked this place !
Atmosphere: well sized and cozy, very home like feeling. Very clean, comfortable seating and great ambiance. Service: Maria was very warm and welcoming. Very kind and attentive. Excellent service ! Food: Sea Bass was extremely good, make sure you get Capers along with the fish, adds a great taste to it. Lemon potatoes did not have that over the top lemon taste to them. Must have the traditional Greek salad. Overall it's a great restaurant
I've been here several times, last week most recently. I really enjoy coming here and never disappointed. Traditional Greek dishes that hit the spot when you're craving this cuisine. It's a refreshing restaurant when every single place nowadays feels the need to be "flashy" with overpriced drinks and a snobby crowd. The food was great, the service was attentive, the ambiance was really nice - just a great experience. If you're craving Greek food and you're not looking for a night club, give this place a try.
We've been to Greece multiple times and have a Greek in the family, and this is as authentic as it gets. Excellent service, food, and wine selection. 10/10 recommend.
i want to highly recommend the restaurant Platia as i’ve live in the neighborhood for 25 years and it’s nice to see a place succeed for as long as they have! i dine in a lot but i also want to mention today’s takeout 🥡 order and how amazing the service and packing is and such good quality food.. ive been ordering for years and i absolutely love love Platia…
First time here and will definitely be back. The hostess was so friendly and professional. Our server was great. We loved everything we ordered. For appetizers we had the saganaki, eggplant and zucchini chips (which were Amazing!!) and the beet salad. Entrees we had the Lavraki and seafood pasta special. Everything was delicious! Generous portions and nice atmosphere.
Best Greek food I’ve ever had is here. Best Greek salad, best chicken yero, super accommodating for gluten free peeps. Price is def up there but I cannot say enough about how amazing everything is from here.
We stopped in here for lunch and had some major time constraints. We let them know and they were completely accommodating! The lentil soup and hummus was so quick and perfect for our light lunch. Delicious! The interior is quite beautiful and tastefully decorated! A wonderful place to eat!
Fantastic Food! 😋 GREAT service from Sophia I can't wait to go back there again!
Twice in one week for various events with friends. Excellent food. Amazing service. We were 10 people and closed out the evening! The staff waited patiently. smiling, and never stopped offering to fill our cups. Good wine selection, great salads (to which you can add any grilled protein topper), fresh fish, and grilled meats. Authentic style. Large comfortable space. Staff was all masked. Definitely on the keeper list. Highly recommend.
Excellent humus!! I always order branzino, grilled octopus, and lemon potatoes! It's very good.
I enjoyed whole branzino ..cooked to perfection .. the skin was crispy I’ve had this in other places . Not even close to this . Excellent
I'm very happy to see restaurants opening on Long Island for all of us to enjoy. I'm happier seeing such great quality restaurants like Platia in my neighborhood where I can come, relax and enjoy an exquisite meal with great service. My family and I love it! The atmosphere is Mediterranean and cozy. The seafood is extremely fresh...from the octopus and calamari to the main courses...I've had the red snapper, the swordfish, amd the halibut on my visits. The zucchini chips are by far the best I've had at any restaurant! And the salad is like my mom made it....very fresh! I know everyone's experience is very personal, but I feel like I've found a great restaurant I can call my second home when I'm looking to enjoy a great meal away from my own kitchen. Bravo to Grigori, the owner, and his wonderful staff!!! You are now stuck with me.
Impressive from the moment you walk in. Relaxed, elegant, and well-run.
We hosted a birthday luncheon at Plaita, and our expectations were exceeded! Delicious, plentiful food; professional service, beautiful restaurant. We cannot say enough about how wonderful the experience was! Thank you, Nico and staff!!
I have wondered why is it so crowded but now I know why that is, it's perfect. Everything was perfectly fine, the foods, the atmosphere, the staffs and and even other customers. I'm definitely coming back again!
One of our go to restaurants. We take out weekly and dine in frequently. The Bronzino is excellent, consistently cooked to perfection and meticulously deboned.
Great place, chicken souvlaki patter was excellent. Good amount of choices for gluten free food too
Very delicious Greek food!! Excellent friendly service and everything we ordered was amazing. Highly recommend Platia!
Came here after a wedding, and the food was AMAZING! Everything was perfect. Service was great, extremely friendly and attentive! It's was like being in Greece again. I cant recommend this place enough.
Had a really enjoyable early dinner here yesterday evening, starting with a glass of pinot grigio for my husband and the one rose on the menu for me, which was really nice, fruity and on the dry side. Didn't grab a photo of the perfectly fried calamari, which needed an extra squeeze of lemon and a dash of salt but was otherwise excellent. For entrees, I had the special of bakaliaros with skordalia, fried cod with the most garlicky, amazing skordalia and beets, and my husband enjoyed his chicken stuffed with spinach and feta, along with rice and lemon potatoes. We each took home leftovers. Our server Theodora was wonderful.
Went to Platia for the first time today for a belated Valentine's dinner. This place is now one of my favorite restaurants. As far as covid protocols, all the staff were wearing masks and the tables were spread out 6 feet apart. I went on a Monday night without a reservation and we had no issue getting seated. For appetizers we got the Saganaki and the Zucchini and Eggplant chips. We devoured them. For the main we ordered the chicken souvlaki platter. It was HUGE. The portions were so generous. We took a lot of leftovers home! Everything was delicious and authentic. The ambiance and atmosphere was amazing. Greek music was played and lots of beautiful artworks of Greece on the walls. Made you feel like you were in Greece.
Excellent food with fresh and bright ingredients. The fish and salads are phenomenal. Grilled meats juicy and flavorfull. Lovely staff and service. A favorite neighborhood spot.
The branzino and the spinach with garlic and oil were fabulous. The pork souvlaki was good too. Didn't like the lemon potatoes though.
Excellent, fresh Greek food with subtle spicing that makes it stand out. A little on the pricey side which is the only reason for the four stars, so if you've got the dough don't hesitate!
Got some take out recently. Lovely bartender, great drinks. The béchamel on the moussaka needed some more salt and maybe garlic powder to balance out the cinnamon. $22 is pricey for moussaka but it's a decent portion, so it balances out. I found the place to be just a little overpriced (5-10%) depending on the dish. I'm not sure if it's because covid or what, but it is worth the price. Inside seemed pretty clean and well kept. The lemon potatoes, galaktoboureko, me meli were outstanding. I cannot recommend the me meli enough. They had good quality feta and used proper greek oregano(I think, based on shape). The mussels and calamari were solid. I wasn't a huge fan of the spinach stuffed chicken, it was alright.
Food was good We were seated promptly Outdoor heaters really nice, kept us very comfortable on a cool night But Waiter got our appy order wrong then started to argue w me. In addition he didn't know anything about the Greek wines on his wine list..other than "they are Greek". Lastly, our waiter catered to a 10 top next to us while neglecting us. No second cup of coffee. Had to ask the bus boy for salt & pepper after the waiter did not bring it TWICE. Being in the hospitality business I normally tip 20+% especially now when all are struggling...this time tipped just about 15% His loss but more importantly he gave his restaurant a black eye
Platia's decor is bright and airy. The food was plentiful and tasty, especially the lamb chops. Service was good. Its not cheap, but i have paid a lot more for a lot less on the North Shore of LI. Note that a mixed grill has enough food on it to serve 3, if you also share a couple of appetizers. Family style works well with Greek food.
Easily the best taverna-style Greek food outside of Astoria. They do the traditional cuisine justice while making some minor tweaks to update the classics into something slightly new. The place is decorated very nicely, focusing on the blues and whites reminiscent of Greece with some nice B&W photos throughout. The staff are very helpful and courteous. A great place to go with your spouse, a large group, or with the family.
Been here a few times since they opened, this recent time on a Sunday night ......was underwhelming at best the food was blah.... no "love "in the dish ....no attention to taste or presentation ....on par with a franchise eatery Just was not what I was used to from them...chalk it up to a bad night .....
Title: A Flavorful Encounter with Gyros: A Delightful Experience I recently had the pleasure of indulging in gyros for the very first time, and I must say, the experience was quite enjoyable. The gyros were expertly prepared, with a generous portion of tender, well-seasoned lamb that truly showcased the flavors one expects from this classic dish. The creamy and thick sauce was a highlight, adding a luxurious texture that complemented the meat beautifully. However, I did find myself wishing for a bit more freshness in the form of tomatoes; an increase in this component would have enhanced the overall balance of flavors. Additionally, I noted that the absence of lettuce left a slight gap in the dish’s textural variety. Despite these minor suggestions for improvement, my overall experience was very positive. I will certainly return to this establishment to enjoy their gyros again and perhaps try some other offerings on the menu as well. Highly recommended for anyone craving a satisfying and flavorful meal!
This restaurant deserves a 5 star review for the food, but the service gets 2 stars. First the food, overall it was very good. the Greek salad, Moussaka, plaki fish dish and the chocolate cake were all excellent. The spanakopita, pork chop and baklava were all good, but not as good as the other dishes. Now on to the service. It started out good and attentive. We got some bad advice from the server when we asked about the portion size of the spanakopita. She said it just served one person, but the serving size was very big. We only needed one order , but got 2 based on the waitresses guidance and had a whole portion extra. When we ordered one of the Plaki fish dishes, we ordered it with no onions. It came smothered in onions and this is where things turned bad. The waitress said “read the menu”, we said, “we did read the menu and ordered it without onions. The she said “ what do you want me to do, throw it in the garbage”, we said, I don’t know, but we told you we can’t eat onions. Then she repeated that we should read the menu. Grabbed the plate and walked away. Eventually she brought a fresh dish out without onions and it was very good. After that, she was inattentive and hard to get her attention. It was a shame that this very good meal was marred by such poor service.
Fam favorite appetizers were the crispy fried eggplant & zucchini chips and exceptional hummus with pita. Mixed grilled vegetables were prepared eloquently and tasted sensational . Branzino was moist, cooked & seasoned to perfection & melted in your mouth. Greek salad & dressing tasted fresh & delicious. Baklava was enjoyed by all. Would order more frequently if weren’t so pricey! Recommend dining in on special occasions.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Excellent drinks, good food and fantastic service. Our only criticism was that the place was decorated nice enough, however lacked warmth. It was way too bright. I felt like I was inside a tent instead of a restaurant with a cool vibe. Our server was Maria was amazing! A real Rock Star! She was personable, helpful, excellent at her job and her positive energy was contagious! She definitely enhanced our dining experience and gave great recommendations. When we arrived, Nick greeted us with a fantastic smile.....when we left we were excited to share some positive feedback with the owner. However, he had no personality and could possibly care less. I am not sure if we will return. There are plenty of other options.
The food is terrific, the service is mrdiocre, the bar/drinks are poor. Located in a traditionally doomed spot in Syosset, as locals we still had high hopes. Unfortunately the waiter took our drink order and returned without the drinks and immediately asked for our food order....we were not at McDonalds but you would not have known that by this treatment. Our drinks arrived after asking twice where they were. My husband ordered a bloody Mary, hard to screw up. I ordered a Mojito, and specifically requested a traditional recipe. I did not want an Ouzo recipe. I was delivered a very unappetising Ouzo Mohito which the waiter confirmed the bar tender screwed u and did not read the ticket. My appetizer arrived. My husband's arrived 5 minutes later. The entres came at the correct time, however the bus staff had to be told not to clear my husband's plate until I was finished. The manager, maybe owner, Nick, was interested in feedback. We are hopeful.
Food was fresh and service was very nice but food came out slow. I ordered a Greek salad and received it after 45 minutes. The salad was mostly tomato so it wasn't what I expected from a Greek salad. The grilled vegetables were good.
We order tzatziki dip in bulk every 3 weeks, they come in half pInt containers .Until the last order the containers were full so that on opening there was product on the inside of the lid Our order recently were HALF FILLED containers, perhaps Platia should reimburse us for half our order. DO A BETTER JOB OR WE WILL TAKE OUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE very unprofessional and incompetent
I love the decor here! They have a parking lot which is great! I have been here twice once for a sit down lunch and once for a take out order. Upon being seated you are served complimentary pita and hummus. It is very delicious! For lunch they have a few lunch specials. I ordered a pork gyro as they don't have lamb or beef options, they have just chicken and pork. The pork was okay and overcooked which is okay by me. It was flavorful. Service was fine zero complaints. Second time I ordered takeout and ordered the same as my previous time there a pork gyro. It was overcooked like last time but burned. I did not enjoy it at all. The first time it was okay I've definitely had better but still it was okay. After the second time ordering it I know I won't be ordering it again. I'm not in any rush to go back here. I may come back and try an entree. The gyros are no go for me!
This is a difficult one to write . Needing a soft dinner after having some dental work , I stopped here for the first time on Friday , 1/12/24 at about 4:30 PM , after having passed Platia countless times . Parking without stepping on gum was a task , but on my third try , I found a spot . I hoped to see Moustaka on the menu , and did....and it was delicious . The music was light , the bathroom small but immaculate , seating inconvenient ( I was not given a choice ) but comfortable ....... So what could I complain about ? The manager / greeter was stonefaced , not at all pleasant . Employees were lined up against a wall facing me ( one seemed intrigued by my boots ; they talked loudly ) ; a little privacy would have been welcome . No bread was served until I asked for it ( but the soft pita was delicious ) . ....... Finally , upon leaving , not one word of thanks from management or any employee ( and I tip well ) . Great food , an attentive busboy , but a strange , uncomfortable experience . As I often pass by in warm weather enroute to Sagamore Hill or The Planting Fields , I might stop by again , but when it comes to restaurants , Two Strikes , you're out !
Easy to find in the town of Syosset, this restaurant has its good and it's bad. The food is very good. Several types of whole fish are always on the menu. They are light and tasty. Beet salad is huge but it is mostly arugala. My problem at this place is the service. They always seem to be understaffed. Service is slow and not very patient or helpful. Just as a side note, the chairs are really uncomfortable. Chicken skewers are huge, juicy and flavorful. Try the lemon potatoes. Did not sound good to me but they are delicious. Grilled calamari app is tasty and light. They put lots of capers in everything so if you are watching your salt, this may not be the place for you.
We went in and ordered food first time. Staff were great. We waited about 20 mins and picked up the food. Found out there are no utensils and napkins in the bag. Also missing one of the side order. Called them back and one of the staff said most people go home with the food and throw the utensils. I said, I came to hotel and there is no supply for utensils and napkins and I ordered lamb chops which is impossible to eat with hands 🤔. But food was ok. I will not visit that place nor i recommend any of my friends.
The food was decent, but the overall experience fell short. Our server felt a bit pushy and special didn’t offer much value. Probably better off sticking with the regular menu if you go
Quick friendly service. Food is standard. The pita bread with hummus was delicuous. The appetizer grilled octopus is a bit salty and VERY soft.. can go into mushy! The fried eggplant and zucchini was very chewy and not got when came out... Though the tzatziki sauce was yummy not overly garlicy. The mousaka was okay... No light bulb popping! Overall, for its price and food... Will go back sparingly!
Wonderful ambience, nice location, great service. Appetizers were tasty, beautifully plated, fresh. Calamari and the 3-spread starter were particularly tasty. Unfortunately the main courses we picked did not live up to the expectations. The largest meal, a kebab platter for 2, was overdone, tough and chewy. The seafood pasta was nice, but nothing to write home about. Great for a first visit so you can decide for yourself.
Food did not agree with us. Both my wife and I felt a bit sick after eating at Platia. Chicken was very greasy and overdone. Sorry but we must be honest.
First time dining at Platia but not my first time eating Greek cuisine. Restaurant is clean and cozy and staff were attentive and friendly. Both my husband and I ordered the gyro platter - he got pork, I got chicken. Not what we were expecting. The meat was very tough and dry and looked like scraps. We ate some of it but were less than happy with that choice. Perhaps other dishes on the menu are good but I wouldn't order a gyro from this place ever again.
Very clean and pretty in its simplicity. Bathrooms are clean which is very important to me. They have a parking lot so parking is easy. Service is courteous and friendly. They take Apple Pay as well - we forgot our wallet the day we went We got the calamari which was great, the meat platter which was just OK especially for the hefty price, the chicken and beef platter was OK as well. Overall, the food was OK when consider the price you pay.
Tonight my wife and I decided to go “local,” for Greek food. We’ve been to this restaurant before and it was ok so we decided to go back. That was mistake # 1. We were seated within 5 minutes of our reservation which was a positive sign, and then we had to wait 20 minutes for a server to come by, (yes they appear to be understaffed.) the server comes over and asks are you ready to order, didn’t think about asking if we wanted a drink or if there were any specials etc. Things were not off to a rousing start. We were able to order a bottle of wine and the same time find out what the specials were as well. When he came back with the wine we knew that we better order our dinner as well, if not who knew when the server would return. For appetizers we ordered saganaki, and KOLOKITHOKEFTEDES which are zucchini fritters served with tazatziki, and for entrees a whole Lavraki and sautéed soft shell crabs. Both mains came with Greek potatoes and sautéed spinach. They brought out the fritters and to our dismay they were probably cooked with other orders many hours earlier and kept under heat to keep warm, bottom line very dried out. Now we were wondering if they forgot the saganaki altogether, 20 minutes later it showed up, lukewarm and the cheese had already hardened again. We were on a proverbial roll. Next came the Lavraki and even though the head was burnt to a crisp the fish was delicious in a lemon caper sauce. It was a 4.5 out of 5. The sautéed soft shell crabs were nothing to applaud about, they were ok as in average. We decided to share a baklava for desert which was on the dry side. Bottom line for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, desert and a bottle of Greek wine for $170.00 you’re better off going to Astoria, NY or NYC for the same price and a better meal. Let me add that they couldn’t even change the utensils between courses. My rating of 3 is extremely kind and generous and probably based on our first visit when we had much better service.
I liked the interior but tbh worst service! The waitress was rude, I explore a lot of food places but always get treated nicely but not at this place. The waitresss literally screamed on me for misunderstanding my order. She added two extra pastas and she could have asked me if she thought I wasn’t clear enough. It really ruins your whole experience!
Friendly staff , Nice place, great décor . HOWEVER the Food was a bit "Pricey " and the fish was over cooked and fried in old oil . Not acceptable . McDonalds fillet o fish looks better than what i was given . Just saying . If you want authentic Greek food go to Astoria . Long Island Greek establishments do not make the grade .
Ordered a chicken pita platter and a Greek salad with grill chicken and the order came out to $46.80...As I picked it up I thought to myself this must really be delicious ....got home The salad was just OK (one grape leaf three squares of feta) small cup with a few pieces of grilled chicken in it, I appreciate that they separated them so the salad didn’t wilt. The chicken souvlaki platter was deceiving the chicken sat atop fries so it looks like you had a lot of souvlaki ... barely any salad and 4 TINY wedges of pita! So disappointed, and I paid almost $50 buck for that. Do yourself a favor go to Greek Cove ...went the very next day got two HUGE chicken kebab pitas. Huge chunks of chicken lots grilled veggies extra dressing .. amazingly delicious... a huge salad with a large warm pita and two sodas for $31bucks! And it was DELISH!!!!!
My birthday dinner....couldn't wait as we were here two years ago and loved it! Menu uninspiring, food not well prepared or presented. WAY too expensive. LED lighting very harsh making it difficult to read the menu, decor like a low budget HGTV project. Won't go back.
Food is decent, nice appetizers and the fish entrees (branzino and red snapper) were good. My complaint is service. Our server was horrible. I went with 4 girlfriends to celebrate 2 birthdays. The server was rude, arrogant and seemed annoyed with our table. Definitely did not make my experience enjoyable. He seemed to be tired and i guess he wanted to go home, and i can understand that but on a Monday when there is no many tables to serve he should have been amazing. I am married to a Greek man so i can judge good Greek food and i have been to many other Greek restaurants where service is excellent. I will not be going back there. They need to have better service specially in a slow night.
My husband and I got there on Saturday at 5Pm only two other couples were in at the time and they seat us in the back, so we asked to have our seats changed. Not a problem they change our seats. We ordered 2 glasses of wine. Soup and two appetizers to begin. The soup comes out barely warm. We told the waiter and he gladly takes it back to be reheated. It comes back hot which is the way soup should be, but after less then a minute he brings our other appetizers the $20 Chargrilled octopus, and their special for the night mussels in wine sauce. Now we rush through the soup and then the other two dishes are now cold. The octopus very salty and parts very tough and rubbery. The mussels were tasty but cold. We were asked how everything was and we told the waiter the truth it was all cold cause you brought it out all together. No apology. Now we were through. Asked for the bill and felt completely ripped off for $80.00!!! Never again. Can't believe all the great reviews this place gets.
Never again, the service was perfect, but I got fried giro, it was really, but they worming in the fryer. It's was disgusting... My wife ask cod, but uncooked. I'm so disappointed , nice restaurant, nice menu, but the food not good. I was really excited to find a real giro, it's was bad experience
Terrible service. Waiter was rude Food is awful - Greek salad was spring mix with one or 2 romaine leaves. Chicken yerro on the salad was terrible. I got sick immediately upon leaving the restaurant. I would never go back or recommend this restaurant
Had what they call a gyro platter. It was not sliced pork or chicken or lamb like gyros in most places. It look like chopped up grizzle that was left over. I felt like I was being given leftovers that were just chopped up and fried. I was totally disappointed. I hope the rest of their menu is better.
I recently ordered a Souvlaki takeout meal, and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The main issue was that the salad, chicken, and lemon potatoes and pita bread were all packed into the same container, leading to a less-than-appetizing experience. By the time I got home, which is 5 minutes away, the salad, which should have been fresh and crisp, had been essentially steamed by the hot chicken and potatoes. The lettuce and tomatoes had wilted to the point where they were more like overcooked vegetables than a fresh salad. The dressing, which was probably meant to be light and refreshing, had become warm and oily, making the whole situation worse. To make matters worse, the salad dressing, the heat from the chicken and potatoes also affected the pita bread. What should have been a soft yet slightly crisp was soggy and unappealing. The moisture from the salad dressing and hot food seeped into the pita, leaving it limp and unappealing. While the flavors of the Souvlaki itself were okay, the poor packaging and presentation ruined the overall meal. It’s clear that the takeout process wasn’t thought through, and it significantly detracted from what could have been an enjoyable meal. I’d recommend the restaurant reconsider how they pack their takeout orders to prevent this from happening to others.
I went here today for lunch. I genuinely love Greek food and the Greek culture, so I was extremely excited to check out this place. When I walked in I wasn’t greeted welcomely. Instead I was rudely asked what I needed by a man watching tv and eating pasta? He was not welcoming at all and if I owned a business I would not want that person representing my business and greeting my customers… A different person took my order. I wish I got his name but he was equally in a bad mood, as the man eating pasta. I felt very uncomfortable being a women surrounded by two men who were extremely hostile… I was unsure what to order because it was my first time there and instead of my waiter helping me he just insisted that I read the menu, without recommending anything. At this point I was ready to walk out but I was starving and had to return to work. Once I got my food and paid my bill, I left. No one said bye or thanks for coming, instead they both continued to watch television and neglect a customer. I am a local food critic and food blogger on social media, this restaurant will NOT receive any free promotion from me due to the experience I had. Additionally the pita bread that I ordered was burnt, has lettuce on it and was non edibles. I threw my entire order away. I wasted a total of $40 and that included a tip. I wish this business the best and I hope your staff gets more training.
