This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a very long time..walked in and was greeted by a very nice young lady. She seated my friend and I and introduced herself and turns out she and her husband are owners. She was so friendly and accommodating. During our meal she assisted the waiter with bringing desert and sang happy birthday to guests (beautiful singing voice) !! Towards the end of our meal Richard Hales came and introduced himself and discussed his inspiration for his meals. After a great short conversation my friend informed me he had an extensive background !! This was amazing. Food was great, staff is great!!!!, atmosphere is greattttt !!! My friend and I ate appetizer, main course, and dessert bill was under 160 dollars!
This was our first experience Dining at Hales and It was quite the delicious experience. The food was expertly prepared and presented, the waitstaff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We ordered the Blackbrick Tower 25 and all of the options within were delicious. For our main course we ordered CHEF HALES FLORIDA WINTER PRIX FIXE and the experience of going through the tasting selection within this dish was an amazing experience, the Rice Siu Mai was tender and delicious. The Salt & Pepper shrimp was tasty, but the star of the dish was the house made soy sauce that was out of this world. The eggplant was soft and the Yu Zhiang was a flavor you need to experience at least once in your life. Then there is the main course the Mala Chicken. This has to be some of the most flavorful Fried chicken I have ever had, now I will preface this by saying my wife dislikes spicey food, and the seasonings on this are now the de facto level of spice and flavor she wants when she is eating this type of cuisine. It is has a heat that will not blow out your pallet, you can feel the warmth of the spices while not losing your ability to taste the food. 10/10 would recommend to everyone to try. Then finally the Cookie Butter Banana Pie, It was soft, fluffy and chilled to perfection. The perfect way to cool the tongue after some spiced foods. Overall I can't wait to bring my friends and family here so they can experience this amazing restaurant and food.
Great food, great service, great night! The vibe is very fun. We went to the bar for a happy hour drink and the bartenders were all super nice and friendly. Got to our table and our server, Whitney, was so friendly and so helpful. She helped steer us to great menu items and appropriate portions. Honestly, all the food was outstanding. We particularly loved the soup dumplings and the chicken fried rice. We will be back!
Decided it was time to try this restaurant at their new location after hearing great things about it. Great atmosphere and bar area when you walk in, good mood and spot for a date. Service was great from the start, waitress was great and very helpful. The menu has a good spread of options. We shared dishes as recommended so we started with the dumpling tower, all were good and fresh. Followed by their Brussels sprouts (favorite) and fried yuca. We continued with their truffle fried rice, fried chicken and lamb chops. All were very good and not your run of the mill flavors, all very creative and full of great flavor. Then finished it with their cookie butter banana pie, which was also great. All this food was enough for 4 people and we took some home. Parking only valet, or park on the road or elsewhere (my only dislike). We will for sure return to try other dishes as we loved this restaurant.
Amazing night with great food and excellent service at Hales. So glad I celebrated my birthday here. From inception the staff were exceptional. Our server Marcel went above and beyond for my family and friends to give us the best experience. The dumplings and pork belly were my favorite but will definitely be back for more delicious food. The owner came out personally to thank me for choosing his restaurant for my special occasion. Hands down Class act!!
Exceptional. Loved everything. The menu is so creative, so delicious. Extensive wine list. And I can’t remember the last time I had a server as good as Marcelle. Request him if you can. The owner even left the kitchen to go by all the tables to thank people for coming in. Next time I’m in Tampa — this spot is a must revisit.
Amazing dinner and exceptional flavors! The best Modern Chinese restaurant in town! The Hales were so sweet too!
Yesterday was my very first time dining at Hales Black Brick in Tampa, and honestly, it was an experience I’ll never forget. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere had this wonderful balance of warmth and elegance — it immediately set the tone for the night. The dishes were absolutely breathtaking — both in flavor and presentation. Every bite felt like a story, crafted with so much love and attention to detail. I tried a beautiful selection from the menu along with a cocktail, and everything was pure perfection. The flavors were layered, balanced, and memorable, making it feel so much more than just a meal — it was an experience in itself. Beyond the food, what really made the night special was the energy of the space and the hospitality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and truly passionate about what they do, which made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. If I could rate it higher than a 10, I would — truly a 100/10 experience. I can’t recommend this place enough, and I’m already looking forward to going back again. Tampa is lucky to have such a gem!
This was an experience of a lifetime. I am a Food Network fanatic and when THE Chef Richard Hales casually came out to the table I lost it lol!!! He was so nice and the food was amazing. The restaurant vibe was 100 and whoever was doing the music had us jamming all night!!! If you ever get a chance please give this spot a try.
I experienced some of the best service I have ever had at this restaurant. Everything about it is absolutely wonderful. everything was fantastic and the apple pie dessert in particular was amazing. I also enjoyed the Florida summer martini and sichuan mezcal. We also had the pork belly which was so good. I forgot to get a picture of it before we ate it all.
Tried this place out with friends. The services was very efficient and the food was great. Serving sizes are shareable for two but it’s probably 3 realistically. Try the lamb chops and dumpling, they were great and tasty. The waiter was very nice and friendly and super attentive. Only downside was that they accepted reservations until 8:30pm with a 9pm closing time. It’s a tight turnaround but otherwise a great experience.
Hales Blackbrick in Tampa is a must-visit! From the sleek atmosphere to the bold, creative menu, every detail stands out. Our group went for the dim sum on Sunday, and they were able to take classic flavors to a whole new level. Drinks and desserts were impeccable as well. Chef Hales makes every dish feel unforgettable. Definitely recommended.
Hales Blackbrick is simply a 11/10 experience. The ambiance, the drinks, the service, and last but definitely not least - the food. The food (the core of what a restaurant needs to do right) is knocked out of the park every time we step foot inside their doors. I am always impressed with the quality and creativity of each dish that comes out of the kitchen. Chef Hales, Jenny, and the entire team never cease to take such great care of us with their personal touches. They really make us feel at home. If you have not been yet, you are missing out on a phenomenal experience! And if you're a regular, you know exactly what I am talking about.
I wish had more pictures to show what an amazing time we had for our anniversary dinner. We had the pork belly and blue crab dumplings for starters. Then we shared the burnt end noodles and cauliflower. Will definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu. The GM and the chef came to our table and added to the experience. This place is a must try!
We absolutely loved it here! The service and the atmosphere were out of this world. The food was phenomenal. They had creative cocktails, delicious appetizers, and some of the best duck I've ever had. The duck was definitely the star of the show, but we enjoyed everything. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and we highly recommended. We enjoyed it so much we ordered a second helping. I thought the egg roll was a little too shrimpy for me, but others at my table liked it. We were also really impressed by all the desserts
My wife and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. We went to dinner this past weekend with friends and the experience far seated my expectations. It is definitely established itself as one of my top five favorite restaurants in Tampa. Chef Hale Came out and introduced himself, which is always a classy thing to do. The ambience was great, The music was perfect great songs to set the vibe played at the volume that you could hear and enjoy but not overpowering conversation. Every single dish we ordered was delicious and as a non-drinker there was a mocktail called the violet Temple that was probably one of my favorite mocktails. I’ve ever had anywhere in the world and I’ve had mocktails all over the planet lol I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough my wife and I will make it a regular spot in our dinner, date rotation!
We had another phenomenal dinner at Black Brick. Our waiter/ bartender Justin was suggestive and informative. We had many small plates and the Peking duck. All were fantastic! The drinks were great, the service was exceptional, and the food (as always) was of the highest quality.
We just had dinner at HALES Blackbrick and the experience was fantastic. First, the whole staff was very polite and welcoming, even Chef Richard himself went around greeting guests, and our host, Gabi, was great! Second, the ambience was lively, upscale yet pretty casual with a mixed crowd. Last but not least, the food was excellent, flavorful and very well balanced, served in shareable portions, and paired with several cocktail recipes that really made it all worthwhile.
Highly recommend! For a new restaurant they already seem to have it together! Food, drinks, servuce and atmosphere, we're all great
We had a great experience at Hales Blackbrick! The food was spectacular! The pork belly was a standout, we really enjoyed the lamb wontons, the dumpling tower and the potstickers. The pineapple stir fry was delicious and the dessert dim sum was incredible! Cocktails were well-balanced and amazing. The restaurant is an old diner that the chef bought after his mom passed away as his mom used to eat there. The decor is a mix of funky vintage and hip neons and art. Only critique is that perhaps the sweet sauce on the stir fry is a touch too sweet, and the egg roll was okay but not outstanding, but everything was perfect really. The service was attentive and very accommodating, answering all my questions and providing great info. I’m looking forward to the next location!
While over in Tampa, I met my husband for lunch at Chef Richard Hale’s restaurant, where I Finally accomplished my quest to find exceptional Chinese food in the Tampa Bay area. When we walked in, I really liked the cool, eclectic vibe and the quirky paintings of Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee on the wall. We were greeted by the dapper general manager and led to a booth (they had lots of booth always a plus for me:) Our server, Taylor, did a great job explaining the lunch menu, highlighting the shareable options and the availability of half portions for some dishes, which allowed us to try a variety of items. The first dish was brought to us by the general manager, and it was the Char Sui Pork Belly as he brûléed the top of it for us table side. Oh my gosh that was the most delicious pork belly we have every had in our lives. It was literally melted in your mouth it was cooked so beautifully. An absolute must order. Another yummy surprise were the green beans. Chilled and perfectly cooked, they were served with a crunchy chili oil crispy garlic sauce, making them an unexpected favorite. Next, we had the chef's signature eggroll, a Family recipe for over 100 years. So crunchy and perfect to share for two people. Another surprise of our meal was the dim sum tower, particularly the top tier featuring truffled rice dim sum. The truffle flavor shone through, creating a perfect bite with the dim sum wrapper. The shrimp and chicken dim sum were also very good. Since I was shopping hungry, I ordered the king prawn shrimp dish in a half portion, which was deliciously infused with peppers. My husband had the salt and pepper chicken, which, while great quality, was underseasoned so we couldn't taste the any salt or pepper/seasoning. But the rest of the dishes were amazing. Taylor’s service was spot on and she was very nice. The restaurant also has a great cocktail menu and selection of local beers. The general manager checked on us during our meal, a nice touch that shows their commitment to their guests. Fantastic Chinese food and we will absolutely be back. Thank you for such a wonderful lunch!
One of the Top Restaurants in Tampa. Chef Hales and his wife have put together something special here and will be a huge part of the upscale dinning scene for many years to come. I can say this is hands down one of the best meals I have had in a while. I was truly impressed at everything we had. So much flavor and you can tell the level of effort behind everything that came out of the kitchen. I 100% will be back many times. Glad to welcome a new great chef to the Tampa Bay area. Service was awesome as well.
Like most places in Hyde Park, this restaurant is very busy on the weekend; it was even difficult to get a seat at the bar, so I would definitely recommend a reservation. Even with one, we waited 20 minutes past the reservation time for a table, which was annoying. However, after that the service was friendly and prompt and overall excellent. The food was fantastic and worth the wait. Even the egg fried rice from the kids’ menu that we got for my daughter was so tasty. The salt and pepper squid was surprisingly good as well, and of course the dumplings were delicious. Everything that we got was great.
I first heard about Black Brick from a friend who recommended visiting the Platt Street location over the one on Dale Mabry, saying the experience was much better. I’m so glad I took her advice! The food was absolutely incredible, but what truly made the night special was the outstanding service. Bailey, the Assistant GM, went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and had a fantastic experience. Her attention to detail and genuine hospitality made all the difference. I’ll definitely be coming back in the near future!
If there was a way to give this restaurant ♾️ for a rating I would!! I could not get over the atmosphere and amazing staff to start!! Chic, elegant, and welcoming!! Throughout our meal, the head Chef, his wife as well as the manager and several waitresses came to check on us and see how we were enjoying the food! There was nothing that we ordered that we did not enjoy! From the giant egg roll to the tiger shrimp along with fried rice and dumplings…just….uhhhh!! Words cannot describe how great this place is!! I will absolutely be going back and just glad I have leftovers for tomorrow so I can eat this amazing food again!! 10 outta 10 would recommend!!! *chefs kiss*🤌🏼
Wow…so impressed. The food! The service! The vibe! Their highly trained staff took such good care of us - our server Shane was impeccable. The food arrived as it was ready and each dim sum wooden box revealed new delicious treats. Cocktails on point, too.
I don't have enough words to express what a great experience we had at this restaurant. This was our first time trying this restaurant. We made a reservation to celebrate our anniversary hoping to have a delicious dinner with a different concept. The restaurant is located on Dale Mabry near the Buccaneers stadium. It is a small, cozy restaurant with a fantastic staff. I am sure that their goal is to make you feel special and they not only achieve that but also exceed all expectations. They take care of every detail. They greet you, warmly, Chef Hales visits each of the tables and spends quality time with his clients, and his wife leads the celebrations of your special occasion with her beautiful voice. You can see how everyone who works there does it as a team. The food was delicious. The duck was cooked to perfection, the Egg roll and the Gator have been one of the best we have eaten, and the Key Lime pie was the best choice to end a spectacular dinner. It was delicious and unique. Nowadays in Tampa, it is not easy to find a restaurant that offers you excellent food and spectacular service at the same time. Five stars are not enough to rate this restaurant. 10/10.
Hales Blackbrick was really good. The food was fusion, but it had some really authentic flavors. Our favorite was the Hawaiian Ribeye, which was full of flavor and very tender. The cocktails pair well with the food as well. Service was quick and professional. Chef Richard Hales came out to greet us himself! This is a place best for groups and date nights. It's not a place that I would bring younger children. 😀
Stop passing by this sign on Dale Mabry heading to downtown Tampa for a bougie night out. This. Is. The. Place. It's perfection as soon as you walk in. We were so impressed with the level of service and attention to every detail. This blows my mind that this is a Chinese restaurant. The elevated level that Chef Hales has established here is remarkable. The menu is a little overwhelming at first glance if you are not familiar with this type of food, but have no fear as the servers were well versed to ease us into making the perfect choices. Almost everything is considered sharable. It's almost like a fun Asian Tapas place where you can enjoy a little bit of everything, which is so much better than being served these ginormous meals you can never finish. Definitely try the famous egg roll! The star here was the well crafted and unique cocktails. Such great flavors and premier service. Drinks are on the pricier side ($15-19), but well worth it for what you get. Shout out to the bar backs and serving assistants, as I have never in my life seen such attentive workers, I swear as soon as my last bite was finished, my plate was cleared and water refreshed. As someone who enjoys a clean table, this was much appreciated. Finally, you can tell Chef Hales really prides himself on making sure each guest has an amazing experience while dining. I watched him inspect each plate as it was ready to go out, and the way it's managed right as you walk in really shows this place is run like a Michelin Star restaurant. He greets each table and asks about their meals. It was our first time checking the place out, and I could not say enough on how impressive it really was. Loved it and thank you for creating such a luxurious atmosphere to create special dining memories.
Update 6/30/25 Hyde Park New location for this amazing culinary and drink experience. Jeremy and team were very hospitable and it was almost like being at the Dale Mabry location which recently closed to make way for a better spot. Wishing you all much success here. We ordered the whole duck again and it was amazing. Great experience from arrival thru service and easy street parking plus valet. Go here! April 2025 Dale Mabry Location: Arriving at 4pm on a Tuesday to be welcomed to one of the best meals of 2025 and completing Level 7 Google Maps on the same post! Chef Hales and his partner’s work on this space is apparent, purposeful and executed flawlessly. Chad greeted us and took time to show his passion for food and the delights that were about to unfold. In a Chinese dialog, “ha” means hot and “na” means numbing. This is how Chad explained the shared diced of Cauliflower and Yucca - a part of our family style meal that also included Black Brick Dumpling Tower, egg role, spicy green beans and the Whole Duck (only 5 allocated a day so best to show early or call ahead). Loved the outdoor space here and thoughtful attention to fresh flowers in the dining room. Loved the art work, music and overall vibe of this spot. We heard Chef Hales is good buddies with Guy Fieri, giving even more cred to this establishment which recently opened a second location in Hyde Park. Thanks for your service and passion. Best, Will Glass
Hales Blackbrick featuring Chef Hale’s delicious asian cuisine puts a fine twist on classic asian dishes. For the people looking at the menu trying to decide what to pick out of the abundance of options I will disclose exactly what I ordered as I sincerely recommend it all. For appetizers, the egg rolls are quite big and they pack a unique flavor that is nostalgic and fresh. I can see why they keep this recipe in the family. We ordered three, one for everyone to try and we paired it with a shrimp wonton soup which provided some nice balance. We also tried the Blackbrick tower which featured three different appetizers to sample. My favorite of the three was the white truffle sticky rice but each one was unique and tasted phenomenal. Lastly, we had the Char Siu Pork Belly, which had a very distinctive flavor. Many of these appetizers are on the smaller side as they are meant to try so don’t be afraid to order a few! For the main course, we ordered the full sized duck that is featured three different ways. My dad ordered the prime ribeye for himself. We did not know what to expect but what came out we certainly enjoyed the presentation and all of the flavors. It is not your traditional steak and it comes out cut up in a bowl with pineapple stir fry. My dad was pleasantly surprised it also came with a bowl of jasmine rice, which he mixed in. We all tried it and agreed the dish was top tier and I even mentioned I would like to get that for myself next time. We did get a sneak peek of our freshly cooked full duck that was on display with an assortment of flowers. The presentation was fun and elevated. They do take it in the back after viewing so they can cut it up and present it nicely three different ways providing variety. I wanted to note that the duck was prepared and carved with expertise and Chef Hales has trained his staff to perfection. As side dishes, we had the Yangzhou fried rice, the truffle fried rice, and the dan dan noodles, which are big enough to share and the star was definitely the truffle. The dan dan noodles do have a kick. The other noodle dishes looked spectacular as well and I cannot wait to come back and try them. The duck came out and we were not prepared for how much food it truly was going to be. I was so excited about all the food I didn’t get to take GREAT pictures of each dish but please note they looked well thought out and were plated masterfully as a work of art in person. Our duck also came with a cup of the jasmine rice, some mandarin pancakes to convert the duck into asian inspired “tacos” as well as toppings like cucumbers and some ribboned greens. I tried the duck on its own along with the sauces for each and then I tried each one in “taco” form and I can’t decide which way I liked better. I scoped everyone else getting the huge tower-like piece of chocolate cake, so we'll have to try it next time! I would like to take the time to point out that Chef Hales is a kind gentleman who really takes pride in his food, family and restaurant. It shows throughout the space what he has created and I definitely love that I got to experience asian cuisine through his eyes. Everyone who works here is topshelf and worked as a team. From the hostesses who seated us, to the nice ladies who were constantly clearing dishes and ensuring a clean space at all times down to the amazing waitresses, they were all friendly, welcoming and proud of the food they were serving. We had Gabby and Brittany as our waitresses and they both provided great recommendations, answered any questions and provided overall great service that can rival any restaurant staff out there. Jeremy was personable, kind, and made it a point to stop by everyone's table to ensure all their needs were met. If you are conflicted about trying this restaurant, let this review serve as a green flag to please try it out, and if you are looking at the menu wondering what great things to try, take this review as a potential guide of some well-thought out choices. Thank you to Chef Richard Hales, 5/5 stars and I wish I could provide more!
We went to Hales for a last minute date night and could not have been more pleased with our choice! The atmosphere was fun and modern, the service was fast and knowledgeable, and the food was absolutely phenomenal. We cannot recommend the brussel sprouts or the Dan Dan noodles enough! For anyone that knows and loves Chef Morimoto's (Iron Chef) restaurants, you will find a new and fresh favorite with Hales. Chef Hale was even kind enough to come out to our table and introduce himself. Our new favorite find in Florida!
What a fantastic restaurant! The eclectic decor, 90s hip hop and R&B in the background, and attentive service staff all accentuated what I’d call one of my top Asian dining experiences! The food is not traditional, but they let you know Chef Hales places his own twist on dishes he’s learned in his travels across Asia. I thought the food was very reasonably priced given the quality! The meal was topped off by a visit by the chef himself!! Definite recommend on this one!
We had an amazing experience here. The ambience is fun and reminiscent of our time in large metropolitan areas. The soup dumplings were great. We also had the cauliflower and Yangzhou fried rice. It was a perfect culinary combination recommended by our server. Just the right amount of spice on the cauliflower if you like a little heat. The Austrian wine was a first for us and we loved it. Recommending this experience to all our friends.
Sometimes, when you go to a popular restaurant, you get the feeling you're supposed to feel grateful to be there. At Hales Blackbrick, you get the feeling that not only are you welcome there, but they are glad that you chose there to dine tonight. The entire staff was warm and welcoming. Our server Brittany made great recommendations and explained different options on the menu. Everything we had was excellent. I never thought I would mention an egg roll in a review, but it was ridiculously good. We also enjoyed Siu Mai, Dan Dan Noodles, and Chengdu Kung Pao Shrimp. Everything was delicious. The chef/ owner came around to each table and introduced himself, told us a little about himself, and thanked us for coming. With the combination of tasty food and a welcoming atmosphere, it was one of the best dining experiences we have ever enjoyed. Reservations are recommended, and it's a good night to leave the kids at home. We were already talking about our return visit when we got back in the car.
Every dish was cooked to perfection, and each one had a unique and exquisite flavor. The attention to detail in the preparation of the food was exceptional, making for a truly memorable dining experience. The flavors were unlike anything I’ve tasted before, showcasing the culinary expertise of the chefs. The service was impeccable, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. Hales Blackbrick truly impressed me and I’m already looking forward to my next visit
First time dining here the other day and all I can say is WOW. Everything from the service (shoutout Spencer) to the food was incredible. Got the Yangzhou fried rice and the Fossil Farms Elk. That Elk is so flavorful & has the perfect crisp/texture to it. Another bonus was that Chef Richard Hales came to our table as we were finishing up, which made the experience all the more memorable. Will definitely be returning!
My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary tonight here. We met the chef, his wife, and daughter. The food was amazing. There are so many things we wanted to try but not enough stomachs. We will be back for sure to try and indulge again! Thank you chef for a great experience.
Outstanding experience! The food and drinks were excellent - very unique, creatively plated, and truly delicious. Service was personal and made us feel valued and special. What a pleasure to have met the chef when he came out to thank us personally for dining with them. This is a family run restaurant that is an absolute gem. We can’t wait to come back and to tell our friends and family to try for themselves!
Hales Blackbrick is our go-to spot for everything—celebrations, hosting visiting family and friends, or simply enjoying exceptional cuisine paired with impeccable hospitality. Chef Hales is my husband’s favorite chef, and we are truly huge fans. My husband is also a chef and deeply admires Chef Hales’ flavors and culinary approach. As a sommelier, I especially appreciate the diverse wine list and the inventively fun cocktails. One of our favorite touches is that Chef Hales visits every table and genuinely cares about each guest’s experience. We’re always excited to return and try something new from the menu. Blackbrick is truly a shining gem in Tampa Bay.
100 out of 10 stars. Not only was every dish perfectly delicious, but the service was elite. Beginning with my entry into the restaurant, the valet was kind and efficient. Mrs. Jenny Hales greeted me upon entry and walked me to the private room with such a beautiful, cozy and interesting atmosphere. The servers explained the menu items with great detail and enthusiasm which made ordering a breeze. All of the food was incredible. Chef Hales came in to meet with us during dessert which was such a pleasure. The entire evening was so special. We look forward to visiting again soon. Oh, and the valet was super kind to me when I told him I misplaced my ticket. He pulled up my vehicle within only a couple minutes. 100 out of 10 stars!
My wife and I decided to try it for my birthday after a friend’s recommendation. Everything we tried was excellent. The pork belly’s presentation, the potstickers flavor, the generous portion of prosciutto and shrimp fried rice, the spicy fried yucca… every dish we tried was delicious. Inspired, but approachable. Just actual good food that makes for a great dinner. Seeing Chef come out and check in on us was also a nice treat. Staff was friendly, music and ambiance great as well!!! We’ll definitely come back and try more dishes.
We are regulars at Hale’s Black Brick and are their biggest fans! The food is phenomenal, the service is excellent, the atmosphere and music are amazing! Our go to meal is the duck!! Don’t be afraid of the price, it’s well worth it and you get an out of this world culinary experience from 1 duck! The menu is an encyclopedia of exquisite dim sums and exotic dishes. Wear your larger size outfits because you will definitely need to expand the belt line after you finish. I would be foolish to not mention the biggest surprise of the meal - the Sweet Dim Sum desserts. I highly recommend the Red Bean Sesame Bao… that’s right a sweet red bean dessert. Finally from the management staff (Bailey and Jeremy) and the culinary advisors (Chelene, Marcel and Whitney) to the owner (Richard) and the singing diva (Jenny- his lovely wife) you will never go wrong and they will make your evening a very special experience and one you would want to repeat every weekend… like us! We love Bailey. (Wink, wink)
Dishes at this spot were quite thoughtful and interesting, though some flavors might not have shone through. The Mala tofu soup brought a numbingly spicy delight, and the lotus root was a standout. The truffle rice dumpling was both unique and delicious, showcasing the chef's evident passion and care. A bit more variety of non-fried/greasy menu options would have been appreciated. Surprisingly, the chocolate cake, not exactly Chinese, stole the show as a favorite at our table. It was a nice touch to have the chef personally visit each table, adding a friendly and personalized touch to the experience.
First time. Nice quiet vibe, great decor. The Florida gator was our favorite. We also ordered spicy margaritas, expresso martini, salt and pepper squid, and the black brick tower dumplings. The chicken dumplings were the best of the 3 options, and the squid went very well with the sauce that’s the gator came with. Jeremy and Justin were awesome. Thank you for the experience.
Very cool aesthetic but immediately was put off by the overwhelming loud music. Our server Whitney greeted us promptly and welcomed us for our 1st visit, she informed us about the menu, concept, and made some suggestions. I ordered the OPP Pinot noir and my friend ordered a mocktail. We ordered a variety of food and it all came out as it was ready which was rather quickly. The pork belly was my favorite and the cauliflower was excellent also. I however was not a fan of the truffle fried rice, maybe it's just my taste but I would have preferred a more traditional style of fried rice this rice was not fried just white rice with fried egg, green onion and very large truffles. My friend enjoyed the duck breast and we both enjoyed the beef and onion potstickers and the chicken and chive dumplings. The prices were on the high side so be prepared to spend about 100 per person to enjoy all the flavors the menu has to offer.
The food was decent but lacked the extra something I would expect at this price point. Pork belly was good as expected. The fried squid was cooked really well and had a great batter. Asparagus was tasty and cooked well to maintain the fresh crispiness. The Xi'an Cumin Lamb was ground lamb meat with wide noodles. Add the the extra spicy chilly oil for added flavor to this dish. The crab and pork soup dumplings had good sweet and savory flavors. Skip the eggroll and the wonton soup. Glad to have tried this place but there are others that provide similar food without the cost of the excellent but superfluous service and namesake. (3/23/2025)
Have been here several times… The food is excellent, but I am extremely disappointed and actually kind of pissed off tonight. Here’s why Sitting in the restaurant right now and have had to complain about the temperature several times because there is cold air blasting on our faces and weird fans. Placed everywhere was told that it had been turned down 30 minutes ago, but the air hasn’t shut off. Also, my wife ordered the truffle fried rice and asked if we could have chicken added to it so there could be some protein and we’re happy to pay extra for the chicken and was told no, but he was more than happy to sell us another entrée that had a chicken breast. Also, our waiter only has three tables, but has yet to refill our drinks. Unbelievable
I wanted upscale Asian fusion for my 55th Birthday dinner so I made a reservation for my husband and I to dine in. The pork belly was tasty and had a nice balance between the meat and fat. It was served with a delicious dipping sauce, too. The crab and pork soup dumplings were mediocre and devoid of that inside broth that makes them a soup dumpling. My husband had the spicy green bean appetizer and was pleased but wasn't as pleased with his prawns as they were a little 'fishy' and the rice was clumpy. My biggest disappointment was the lobster and bison fried rice. It didn't even look like fried rice. It was a glutinous glob of wet mush in a bowl, (almost like an oatmeal consistency), that I couldn't identify bison or lobster in. Everything was chopped finely or ground and the rice was both mushy and hard. I tried it and unfortunately, I just had to just send it back. I have never been so disappointed in a fried rice dish and this was a $72 fried rice 😔. They were kind enough to take it off my bill and offered to get me something else but it just grossed me out at that point. We both did have nice a dessert! That part was very nice and the service was on point. I'm just kinda sad that my 55th birthday dinner was such a bust. We unfortunately will not be returning although I do wish them success because the vibe is cool and I understand that a kitchen can have an off night.
Not sure if I came on an off night or what. It took 30 minutes for our drinks to come out and appetizers came out first.. after we finally got our drinks there was a fly in it. I then waited about 15 minutes before I finally grabbed a server walking by because our server never came to us. Food was okay, the truffle dumplings, and Brussels were very good. However it was probably the worst service I’ve had in this area besides good fortune in st Pete… which if you know you know. Total was around $250 after tip, again not sure if was there on an off night or what because I heard it was good, but the service was very bad & food okay. Would not recommend.
