We have now had four meals at Tampeño, ranging from Sunday morning brunch to lunch and dinners. It is a hidden gem that won't stay hidden for long. In the shadow of Raymond James Stadium, it is convenient to downtown, Westshore and Carrollwood. The staff has always been gracious, attentive and sharp -- just like everyone in West Tampa. The food is creative, flavorful and plentiful. For breakfast, we recommend the omelet or the huevos con sofrito. At lunch, go with the Tampeño Cuban or the grouper, and for dinner, there is a great array of unique tapas and then an expansive menu of fish, pork, steaks and all sorts of savory seafood. Try the pork chop, pork belly or The Italian, Cuban and Spanish influences abound! One suggestion: CALL the restaurant rather than using their rez system, which doesn't work.
Something amazing has sprung up out of an old West Tampa tienda, and it’s quickly become one of my new local favorites! Tampeño's has done a fantastic job preserving the historic architecture of the space while blending in quality craftsmanship/materials and stunning design. On Sunday, I tried their Tampeño Cuban Sandwich (pork belly instead of mojo) with a side of mashed yucca with flavors inspired by a devil crab. And Trish’s grouper sandwich (a poboy) was 🔥! Heads up if you sit at the bar—the stools are so comfy, you might just stay all day. Honestly… that doesn’t sound like a bad idea!”
Our dinner at Tampeño was a delight! The sangria was vibrant and fruit-filled. I started with the Endless Summer Salad, full with fresh ingredients, and followed it with the Tampeño Beef Roll - cooked to perfection and paired with their standout sofrito yuca mash. Each bite was a testament to quality ingredients and skilled preparation. The lovingly restored interior, featuring nods to West Tampa history, added an extra layer of charm. If you’re looking for a spot that nails both flavor and presentation, this place is a must-try!
Tampeno in Tampa is outstanding! The meatballs and beef tips entrée were absolutely exceptional—tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The service was just as impressive—everyone was incredibly nice, attentive, and extremely polite, which made the experience feel top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!
We came here for dinner recently, here’s what I thought. Atmosphere: Tampeño is a beautiful restaurant space. They converted an old store into a nice restaurant. They have plenty of indoor seating with a bar. They also have ample outdoor seating by too! Restrooms: They had two single use bathrooms. They were nice and clean! Service: This is where I have to take down a star. The service was very slow, it looked like they had one gentleman working tables. Our waiter was really nice, but the service could’ve been quicker. Food: We loved our food. I’d say prices are good for the quality of food you get. I got their ‘Grilled Octopus’ entree and loved it. I got 2 octopus tentacles which you never see, usually at a restaurant you just get one. My friend got 3 on her dish! The asparagus was cooked perfectly. I LOVED their yuca mash. It was so good and something I’ve never had before. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes. Overall, this is a great place for a nice dinner and lunch. It is walking distance to Raymond James, so it’s perfect to eat at before or after a game! I think this place is a hidden gem! Also I saw they have happy hour too!
Nicely designed location and conveniently located close to the Bucs Stadium. I’ve gone one time and look forward to going back for lunch or dinners. I sat at the bar, ordered the Spanish omelette with hm & Gruyère cheese plus toasted Cuban toast. Just yummy! I looked at the menu and noticed other items I’d like to go back to eat for breakfast or lunch. Reasonably priced in a post-Covid world where nothing is cheap anymore.
Amazing food & service! We went there with my family & had a great dinner experience. The server Ana was very kind and the manager came to check on our table multiple times. I loved the mimosas, sangria and I took a bite of every plate my family ordered. Everything was very tasty!!!
Amazing!!! As a true believer that food can transport you through time, Tampeño took my friends and I on an unforgettable journey. Every dish we tried was like a step back into a cherished memory, filled with rich flavors and fresh ingredients that tasted like they were made with love. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a place where each bite tells a story, this is it. I can't wait to come back and relive the experience all over again!
We found this place when we parked nearby for Metallica on Friday, and it was so good, we invited friends to come meet us there for Sunday’s show. We had been to Raymond James before, but not around this area.. Wish we found it sooner! The staff is very welcoming. My girlfriend ordered sangria, and the bartender mixed each glass by hand, not just a pour from an already-made container. She said it was the best she ever had. We had the seafood salad, fish bites, and truffle fries over our two day visit. The seafood salad was so fresh! Same with the fish bites (catch was grouper that day). The fries were lightly fried: nice and crispy on the outside, just right. The staff made sure our waters were filled so we stayed hydrated. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Just for reference, we met our friends at Eddie Vs up the road, which is a 5 star seafood place, and neither the drinks OR the food held up to Tampeño.
This place is a gem. I kind of want to keep it to myself but I know everyone needs to experience it. This west-Tampa spot is the perfect place for breakfast, brunch, lunch & dinner! The food is SOOOOOO good & the prices are so reasonable. The atmosphere inside has "Hyde Park" or "Water Street" vibes with a west-Tampa price tag. Lots of gluten free options too! Highly recommend.
I would literally fly to Tampa to eat here again. It was absolutely incredible! Definitely don't go on an event night unless you go early. This place is super busy and there will most definitely be a wait. The fish was so fresh and we had multiple tapas plates. The sangria was fabulous, the service was fabulous, the atmosphere was fabulous.
Okay, fellow foodies, do I have a treat for you. Last week I discovered a GEM: @Tampeño Fish And Meat Market Trust me, you NEED to try it! I took my mom for a spontaneous girls' night and we were obsessed. The restaurant itself is stunning. It was giving modern mediterranean vibes mixed with rustic chic. To start the night I started with the Calamari and an Old Fashion. Then my personal favorite, I had the Salmon a la Tascana and the Cazuela De Mariscos. Ended the night with Cafe Bon Bon and Tiramisu – every dish was a solid 10/10. From the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever been to and it’s amazing food, Tampeño is my new favorite restaurant! If your looking for bougie yet affordable with the best tasting food you’ll ever eat make sure to stop by and check out Tampeño Fish and Meat Market.
First time visit for Sunday brunch. Really sharp industrial/garage decor, friendly welcoming staff. Grouper sand and snapper sand both delicious as was the cold local Tampa ale on draft on a hot 95 degree day. Looking forward to coming back for dinner. Nicely put together menu of Tampa/Cuban favs and American dishes in historic West Tampa.
Excellent Service & ambience. I had Casella Mariscos, flavorful and delicious. My daughter had grilled Octopus with mashed yucca & asparagus she was delighted. We had mojitos and wine, finish with bon bon coffee. Outstanding and we enjoyed EVERYTHING ABOUT Tampeno!!
We came here for lunch today with our son. It’s now our new favorite restaurant in the area. A true hidden gem! Our meals were fantastic, the staff was attentive and friendly, and we loved the atmosphere! We appreciated the unique dessert selection and coffees as well. We can’t wait to return with friends.
Nice friendly Tampa, Cuban fusion experience. The restaurant is modern clean and has an open kitchen. The drinks are top notch even the house brands are great. The restaurant is very welcoming. The food came out fresh steaming hot and full flavored. The restaurant has lively atmosphere with Latin music playing in the background. Love it! 😀
Delicious! Also a very interesting and appetizing menu. Great options. We had the 8oz Filet, Lamb Chops, Salmon, Tinta de Mar, and mussels in wine. All 5 star. Very . Very good. Also decoration was nice, it is casual nice.. will be back for sure. Flavors were very good , very well done!👍🏼
Tampeno Fish and Meat Market is a hidden gem! The quality of their food is top-notch — fresh, flavorful, and always beautifully prepared. The staff is friendly and genuinely helpful, offering great recommendations every time I visit. You can tell they take pride in their products and service. Whether you’re planning a special dinner or just having brunch, this is the place to go. So glad I found this market — highly recommend!
Great Experience at El Tampeno Restaurant! I had an excellent experience at El Tampeño Fish and Meat Market. The service was fast, friendly, and very attentive. The food was delicious — full of authentic flavor and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is cozy, clean, and family-friendly, making it a great spot to enjoy a good meal. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to and recommending to anyone looking for great food and service in Tampa.
The food and atmosphere here is amazing. The menu has a good variety of options to satisfy everyone's taste. Our server Roxanne was so sweet and attentive even though we had a large party. Everyone raved about the food and desserts. El Cafe BonBon was perfect to end a delicious meal. If you haven't tried, stop by and grab some amazing food cooked by some pretty amazing people.
We had a great time at Tampeno Fish Market. The service and atmosphere are incredible, and everything was fresh and flavorful. The café bombón was the highlight ….rich, smooth, and perfectly sweet. Definitely a must-try!
Went for lunch, our server Daniela was great. I had seafood salad and my boyfriend had salmon. Both were amazing. We rarely have dessert but had the pistachio and ricotta Torte, Amazing! We will definitely be back and will recommend to others. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
This restaurant was absolutely incredible. Our server was so attentive and kind. The food was unreal. I brought food home for leftovers and it didn't last the night because it was so incredible. I would recommend this place to every and anyone. The service, food, drinks, and atmosphere were amazing. Can't wait to go back!
We had an early dinner here a Monday night so we were seated immediately. For cocktails my wife had the Coco Guava without alcohol and I had the Fortune Street Bridge. This was the most unique gin cocktail I ever had and I really cannot describe it other than it was tasty and enjoyable. For appetizer we shared the Tabla Espanola. Everything was excellent. For main courses my wife had the Porter House Pork Chop. It was very good and not dry at all which can happen with pork. The asparagus was basic but the Yucca with tomato sauce in it was very good as well. I had the Cazuela De Mariscos (seafood stew). All the seafood items were cooked perfectly and the broth was excellent. It came with white rice which I chose to put in the stew. For dessert we shared the Caramel Flan that was a special. It was very good also. Atmosphere is basic but nice and our waiter was efficient but not entirely knowledgeable about the menu. Regardless, we have added this as one of our go to places when in the area. It’s nearly in the shadow of Raymond James Stadium.
Thank you Mike and Faisai for an amazing dining experience! Came with a party of 7 and glad we decided to come to this restaurant. This place is the real deal. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth, energy, and authenticity that makes Cuban food so special and mainstream. Everything tasted wonderful, full of flavor, and cooked with real care. The Cuban sandwich was rates #2 but really should be #1. Everything we ordered we were not disappointed. The service was friendly, welcoming, and without feeling rushed. You can tell this restaurant is run with pride and love for the culture including customer appreciation. If you want authentic Cuban food, this is the spot and I highly recommend it.
We stopped at this cool place right after a Yankees spring training game. Cuban sandwich, seafood salad, and coffee were all delicious. Price was reasonable, and service by Roxanna was really welcoming.
Absolutely amazing hidden gem. Don't know why more people aren't talking about this place. Highly recommend the albondigas, pork chop, and squid. Great cocktail menu, too. Atmosphere was perfect. Can't wait for another date night here.
One of the best spots in Tampa. The food was unreal, but what I love most is seeing our Spanish culture preserved and blended so beautifully with American culture right here in the heart of West Tampa. 🇨🇺🇺🇸 Grateful for people who put their heart into places like this and keep our culture alive. I’ll definitely be back. #WestTampa #TampaEats #SupportLocal #CubanCulture #LatinoRoots #CultureMatters #HeartAndSoul #TampaFood #CommunityFirst
Absolutely delicious! We got the Tabla Espanols as an appetizer, the table side sangria and two main dishes. Everything was amazing! Can’t wait to come back!
First time visiting today for lunch and I definitely will be back. I had the devil crab cake and it was filled with very flavorful crab meat. Their specialty is the Tampeno Cuban and it is nicely pressed with a perfect amount of crisp. Atmosphere is lively and decor and rustic and cool. I highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful lunch or even a unique date night spot.
Great food and great vibes. We started off with the fried fish and calamari. Both were delicious. The fried calamari was cooked just right, nice and tender. For my main course I had the beef roll. It was unique and very tasty. The skirt steak was cooked just to my taste. I would highly recommend coming here.
I am a Foodie and learned about this restaurant on instagram. It did not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious. I went with a girlfriend and we ordered several things. For the appetizers, we ordered the meatballs, fish bites, and the codfish croquettes. Also, the endless summer salad with peaches, which was to die for. The peaches were fresh cut and not canned, served over mixed greens, with feta crumbles, sunflower seeds and a flavorful vinaigrette. For the entrees we ordered the lobster dinorah which was an 8 to 9 oz lobster tail in this delicious tomato cream sauce and was plated on top of their signature sofrito yuca mash. OMG! Total flavor explosion. The second entree was the salmon ala toscana served with another delicious sauce garnished with grape tomatoes and a side of linguine. To wash it all down, we ordered a pitcher of the white sangria. The amalgamation of flavors was just incredible. There were diners close by who I could hear exclaim how wonderful their dishes were as well. We were too full for dessert, but I did order the cafe bonbon, which is a small cup of espresso that's served on top of condensed milk and then topped of with foam. Absolutely delicious. That was my dessert. It's such a great little place that is located in a residential neighborhood. within walking distance to the Raymond James stadium. You can actually see the stadium from the restaurant. It has outdoor seating and the manager Louis was just amazing. He went to every table several times to see how everything was. The level of customer service was just fantastic. This is definitely a great place to go with a group of friends so you can try multiple things or a special date. Reservations are advised because it is a small restaurant and the crowd builds quickly.
An unsuspecting spot just a block from where the Bucs score at Raymond James stadium, this spot was an absolute score in flavor. My group got the blackened salmon, seafood salad, and the Tampeño Cuban Sandwich. The seafood salad was said to be “the one meal I’d ever eat if I had to eat one meal for the rest of my life”. The price was great for the quality we got. Highly recommend! Get some extra aioli for the sandwich and some kind of dip for the perfectly crisp French fries that come with it
Great experience dining here. Lively and lovely dining room with comfortable bar set up. The peach and feta salad was great. Fun place to practice Spanish too.
I recently visited El Tampeño Fish & Meat Market, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The restaurant perfectly blends Spanish, Cuban, and Italian influences, making every dish feel like a tribute to Tampa’s rich cultural roots. One of the biggest highlights for me was the grilled pulpo . It was cooked to perfection—charred on the outside for that smoky flavor, yet tender and juicy inside. The drizzle of olive oil, citrus, and fresh herbs brought it all together. It’s easily one of the best octopus dishes I’ve had and a must-try when you visit. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a modern touch—exposed brick, wood, and Spanish tile give it a cozy yet stylish feel. It’s a great spot whether you’re with family, friends, or on a date. Service was friendly and attentive without being rushed. Overall, El Tampeño is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of culture and food.Highly recommended if you’re in Tampa.
Avocado toast big flavors, very tasty!! Fried eggs and sofrito tomatoe sauce made my toast 5 stars breakfast experience!!!
Best red sangria in Tampa!! The menu had so many unique options. The atmosphere was laid back, but still had an elevated bar with craft cocktails for date night. You will not be disappointed with the Tampeño beef roll, so delicious! Can’t wait to go back!
The food and service were both so amazing, I have nothing bad to say. The croquetas de bacalo were filled with fish and tasted amazing, the mussels were cooked in an unforgettable wine sauce. The owner was so accommodating and made sure we were satisfied with everything. We will definitely be returning as regulars and will bring family when they come visit from Spain
Tampeño hosted us for my sisters 32nd birthday. We had an excellent time, sat us table of 8 with two children , on time and in a special, perfectly fitting booth area. Food was exceptional and I appreciate the wonderful time and service. Cheers 🥂
The Spanish omelette was fresh and full of flavor. The bombon cafe is an absolute must if you love sweet coffee drinks. It’s a work of art and tastes amazing. The torrejas were my favorite item though - they were crispy on the outside and soft like pudding in the inside. SO. GOOD. Can’t wait to come back!

As a Tampa native it makes sense that I would be excited to try a local establishment giving props to the locals. Happy to say it did not disappoint! Located near Ray Jay Stadium it’s a step up from the neighborhood sandwich shops, but still fits in nicely due to its warm and friendly atmosphere and good food. The bar is much nicer than I expected and the service was great. The manager always manages to stop by and say hello. A few outdoor tables are available and they are now open for lunch. It’s got a laid back vibe that could make this a regular spot in your foodie rotation.
Great little spot right off Tampa international airport. Atmosphere was wonderful and the people were really nice. Food was good! Seafood salad was yummy and so was the grilled octopus! My only thing was it was a little saltier than I would’ve like. Would come back and eat again!

We had a family reunion today, and we had scheduled reservations for 25 people a few months ago. I would have expected them to be better prepared for such a large group, but they were not. The owner, server, and everyone else were incredibly friendly. It took a few hours to serve everyone's meals and drinks. My husband's drink took nearly an hour, however this was due to the fact that the server was also the bartender. The food was good but not great. Overall we had a great time. Hope improvements will be made.
