Very nice sushi place! Good food, service and deco. Glad we stop by! My sashimi plate was a piece of art!!!

This is my first time trying these two sushi rolls from this location and in general just trying these two sushi rolls and let me just tell you they were so fresh and delicious. I have gotten them multiple times since. Also the price is AMAZING for the amazing quality of food you receive . And the vibes inside are soooo cute !! I’ll be getting sushi here again very soon. South Tampa atmosphere in central Tampa!! Delicious food and drinks. Our server Angie was very knowledgeable about the menu and a very experienced server. All her recommendations were excellent. Five stars all the way 🤩

What an amazing date night spot! Kelp is perfect if you are looking for chill vibes and amazing food. Our service was amazing, our server Angie was so sweet and attentive. The food was delicious and the cucumber gimlet was so good I made my husband stop on the way home to pick up ingredients to try to recreate the recipe! We had the tuna nachos, Krab Rangoon 🤤, soup, salad and several rolls and it was all incredible. Would definitely recommend Kelp to friends and family!

Everything was excellent. Very pretty presentation on the entrees as well as the rolls. I loved the sushi burger.

Kelp is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Tampa, I visited the Town & Country location. Jo was my hostess & she was very nice, she made feel welcomed, seated me with such enthusiasm & even recommended some delicious rolls. Cat was my waitress, and she was very sweet, knowledgeable of the menu & drinks, she kept checking in on me, she was prompt with everything. Everyone here is being managed very well. Cheers to Mimi for it. I will be back again & again ♡

Took the sushi class today and it was amazing. They walked you through each step and by the end of it you had more sushi than you could eat! We had a saki flight and an appetizer which was included before the class started. It was a great way to spend some on a Saturday afternoon. I can’t wait to go back to Kelp for a meal with the appreciation of the work that goes in such delicious food!

A friend told me about this place and she raved about it. I had to try it and i was not disappointed. Service was great, food was well priced and delicious. I had the rose crave and the lollipop. The lollipop was unique and had a great presentation. The cucumber made it taste fresh and delicious. Will definitely have it again. They have a weekday happy hour from 2 to 6pm with great food and drink specials. I've been looking for a great sushi place close from home and I'm happy i don't have to look any further.

Great place for mid-upper level sushi without biting the wallet. My wife loves sushi, and every time we try a new place she gets one California roll and one multi-fish roll. She loved both of the rolls she got here. I am less of a sushi guy, but was shocked at how great the chicken donburri bowl was both in presentation, flavor profile, and texture. The avocado mixed with tempura provided a great contrast with some sriracha to give it a kick. The atmosphere was also great and the vibes were always high, from server to the electrician who came by.

Kelp sushi is the best sushi restaurant in Tampa Bay. I am so happy to have discovered this place. It truly has changed my life. The food and atmosphere here something I’ve never experienced before in my lifetime. Our server, Jermey, was so delightful and accommodated us with whatever we needed. 10 out of 10 and will be back here very soon.

First time trying this sushi joint out for Mother’s Day dinner. They have a gentleman playing the saxophone 🎷 to Chinese music to have a little live entertainment. The kid’s bento box is sufficient if your kid is not too hungry, and we ordered the Special that comes with a starter and two classic sushi rolls. They were good value for the money. Now the for dessert, we ordered the strawberry fields that consists of charcoal Belgium waffles- made fresh tops with strawberry, bananas and whip cream. Delicious 🤤. The desserts come from the store next door owned by the same owner. Great job 👏🏻! Highly recommend for a Sunday dinner or lunch if you don’t feel like cooking, but want something nice and simple. This is your go to place!

Went with my family who was visiting from out of town for the first time after my brother raves it’s the best sushi in town. Everybody loved their sushi!! Me being a picky eater, Braxton (the manager) was a great sport in helping me figure out something to eat that was anything BUT sushi. Went with his recommendation of Chicken Donburi bowl (5/10) however his customer service was 10/10!!! Great hospitality :)

Great location and great selections. Awesome rolls with fresh and delicious ingredients. The appetizers are fresh and delicious. Kelp has such a great menu that is second to none. And the customer service, amazing! Mimi (Manager), and some of the great people compose of Emily, Joy, Melanie, Vivian, Aria, Cal, Khoa, and Danny, will make you feel like family and truly welcomed, either if you dine in or order for pick up. I totally and definitely recommend Kelp Sushi Joint. You won't be disappointed.

THE PHONE DID NOT EAT FIRST THIS TIME. 10/10 recommend! Had their Watermelon Mint Mojito and it went down too easy! Type of drink to sneak up on you. You should try their Crab Rangoon, Spring Rolls, and Gyoza. Sushi we had were the bronze pebble(savory), Honolulu sunset (sweet undertone and smell, very airy) and the High Hook roll(amazing) ask for Valerie for great service

Came here for a business lunch and food was delish!! They looked a little short staff, but so is the rest of the world. Food was delicious, staff was super friendly and restaurant was squeeky clean!!! Will def be back!!! Update- I order lunch here at lease once a week. So yummy!

First time trying this place out. We stopped by for a late lunch. The whole experience was wonderful. The host was polite and let us know there was only one server working but that didn’t effect the wait time for our food. We ordered a miso soup, seaweed salad and 2 sushi tolls. Everything was delicious. We were impressed. I recommend trying this place. We will be back

The fruit mint iced tea was delicious, as well as the peach sake mojito. These are the BEST krab rangoons I have ever had!!!! I asked for no cilantro in my roll and they put it anyway, but besides that, everything was great!

Great place for sushi and more! All the food is very fresh with creative combinations and unexpected flavors! Our server Chris was extremely attentive, fun and helpful! Definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for good sushi 🍣

I believe there was a former restaurant in same site "Origami" which I enjoyed. I was sad when they closed. However, in passing by I noticed "kelp Sushi" I decided to park and go in for lunch. I must say I was delightfully 😀 surprised and pleased. I love sushi, and I tried a couple of rolls including their seaweed salad. Definitely and highly recommend this place if you love sushi. The place is clean and esthetic, and staff are warm and welcoming. Will return to enjoy other delicious selections from their menu. 💯⭐️

I had an amazing time at KELP SUSHI JOINT! The California roll I ordered was simply delicious. The attentive service added to the wonderful experience, and I'm eagerly anticipating my next visit. This place is definitely a gem for sushi enthusiasts!

A little expensive but the inside is really nice and the food is really good :) Staff is always friendly and nice as well!! I will keep coming back here for the Honolulu Sunset roll 😋 I can’t find any roll like that at any other sushi restaurant and it is my absolute FAVORITE!

Food was amazing, I got the fire tornado roll and shared an order of the Mexican roll and salmon nigiri with my mom. Service and atmosphere was wonderful as well.

Their picnic box was delicious! Great spot to pick up sushi on the way home. The presentation of the rolls is very well done. There is a great fish to rice ratio and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely order from here again.

Upon entry this is one of the cleanest restaurants I’ve ever been to. I’ve worked in restaurants for over a decade and was impressed. My server, Brandon, was great! Thanks for being there on New Year’s Day! I ordered a couple sushi rolls and some hot sake (delish). The sushi was phenomenal! Could not have been better. Super fresh super flavorful. The sushi chefs and menu curators have really set themselves apart from other places with their unique takes on rolls. Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items!

While taking a break from U of Tampa move in weekend, we were looking for a place to eat after some shopping. Kelp came up. It was a lot an hour before they closed. Staff was very friendly and kind. Our server answered all of our questions and made accommodations when we asked. Good was delicious. Such a great selection of unique rolls. They put their own touch into their menu. We will definitely return.

I came to Tampa to visit friends. We were getting hungry and they said sushi. This is their favorite place and they had to show it to me. Fable Tide was our collective favorite roll. The server was such a sweet kiddo too. He's apparently been there a long time and was very knowledgeable. Ill be back my next time in town. Thank you!!

Kelp is the only restaurant that we go back again and again. its a family favorite and a comfort space. The food is excellent. Best sushi, specifically Bronze pebble has been my favorite. The hometown soup tastes great. Their entrees, bowls and kids Bento Boxes everything is high quality and delicious. My 5 years old loves their mango pudding and the waitress is so sweet she recognized how my daughter enjoyed it and offered another serving.....totally impressed by service, ambience and food. Totally recommend this place.

I had a to go order. The sushi roll was fresh - wasn’t the best flavor combination for me. I was most excited for the sushi burger and was disappointed. The “buns” were overbearing. They overpowered the whole “burger.” It might have been better if I took one bun off.

Very cool quaint sushi spot. It is very chill and the decor is nice. We came here on a Sunday evening and were seated right away. It was not crowded but the service was extremelyyyyy slow. I assume they maybe only had 1-2 waitresses. The specialty rolls in my opinion are pricey at about $17-20 / roll. They were really good but I've had better for less. We also got the Ginger salad which was very dry. We had asked for additional dressing and added another kind of dressing bc it was bland. The best thing food wise was the karaage chicken with rice and the sake mixed drinks

The atmosphere was very nice and clean. Service was wonderful. Food was really good we love that the sushi wasn’t full of rice like most places it had a great balance hand crafted is the way to go here. Overall we had a nice dinner here. When walking in we immediately noticed the much nicer, upgraded decor and atmosphere compared to Origami, the previous sushi restaurant. I noticed in other reviews the comments on service being a little slow and can say that we experienced the same as it appeared they may be short on servers. At the very least I can say our servers were super friendly and did a good job considering. As for the food, the sushi overall was good. My fiancé didn’t rave about her Mexican roll but did enjoy it. The miso soup and chicken fried rice bowls were both great, though another member of our party didn’t like the crab rangoon. Overall I’d say it’s definitely worth checking out as they have a good menu selection with very fair prices. We will most likely go back to try some more.

We came around 2pm, no other customers around. Even though we kind of had the place to ourselves, service was slow. The staff had a lot of side conversations and we had to get up or speak up to get our order placed and later get the check because they were somewhat distracted. Although the sashimi seemed fresh, the quality was mediocre. I guess if I had the fish inside of a roll, sauced up, or deep fried, it would be hard to tell. Honestly, it felt like eating Publix sushi on a fancy plate...

Even though we came here 45 minutes before closing, the experience we had was not what we would have expected. The waitress stressed on how we'd need to order 30 minutes before closing, which we absolutely did. Throughout the whole sitting, our waitress was very sassy and unprofessional at times. A couple people on our table wanted the ginger on the side that comes with the sushi before the sushi got there, and the waitress, with a highly sarcastic tone, replied "you wanna the ginger right now? by itself?" This was completely out of line from her side - why does it matter what the customer wants to eat and when they want to eat it if it's available to them? That attitude shocked us. After our food came out, a plate was missing and the waitress told us they are unable to make it because they already started shutting down the kitchen. Also, we asked for some lemon and was told they could not give us it due to them not having a cutting board available. We asked for the manager, and the manager was speaking about us in front of us to the waitress as if we couldn't hear. The manager comes over to tell us that the order that didn't come to the table was not put in by the waitress, saying it is completely the waitresses fault for it. The waitress then changed her attitude since it had become awkward after that and said she would add a discount to our tab. The discount wasn't added and we had to go up and pay for our meals by the register area. Cherry on top - she charged me for another person's bill and had to reverse it, but didn't tell me about it and I had only found out after checking my bank statement. Lastly, the sushi is mediocre.

The atmosphere is definitely amazing, but when It comes down to your food, make sure there's no hair in it. Also make sure you call the place even if they're closed! Because after a couple of days they aren't able to do anything "the hair could've came from anywhere". Despite anything the environment is always super nice and the people are amazing! I will never be coming back though! <3

The food at this restaurant is truly delicious, and it has always been one of our favorites. In the past, the service used to be excellent as well, which made the experience even better. However, during our last two visits, the service has not been the same. We usually call in advance to place our order, since we only go during our lunch break and like the food to be ready when we arrive, as we don’t have much time to eat. Lately though, the food has taken much longer, which forces us to either rush through the meal or take it to go. Additionally, the staff has been a bit rude. We were told that preparing the food in advance was “an exception”…and that they wouldn’t continue doing that, even though it was something we had never had an issue with before. Like what is the problem with that…you sell food I buy it …you have empty seats I go and eat…is that your business right? When it came time to pay, they also made unnecessary comments. We really enjoy the food and would love to keep coming, but we believe the service should go back to what it used to be: friendly, efficient, and professional.

Terrible pricing! I bought an order of sashimi plate togo. I called in and asked one lady about this order. She said: "the plate will have 3 pieces of salmon and tuna along with others. It turned out there are only 2 pieces of salmon and tuna each. And one piece is paper cut thin. This plate costs $43 before tax btw. When I hold the food bag it felt so light. I was curious but did not check it until got home. The quality is ok.
