Opinions de Nona's Italian Grill The Woodlands
5 stars (I’d give it 10 out of 5 if I could!) Nona’s Italian Grill is hands-down the best Italian spot in The Woodlands and surrounding areas—I’ve tried several, and nothing comes close to this level of perfection. We started with their bread and that insanely delicious dipping sauce—seriously, the most amazing one I’ve ever had. It’s rich, garlicky, herby, and addictive; we could’ve just eaten bread and sauce all night and been happy! Then came the main event: Nona’s Favorite chicken with fettuccine. This dish is straight-up top 10 I’ve ever eaten in my life. The chicken is perfectly sautéed, tender, and flavorful with artichokes, mushrooms, and that bright lemon-white wine sauce, all tossed with creamy fettuccine Alfredo. Every bite was pure bliss—balanced, comforting, and elevated without being fussy. I was speechless (which is rare for me at dinner!). Shoutout to our server David—he gave us excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. If you’re in The Woodlands (or willing to drive a bit), do yourself a favor and go to Nona’s. Authentic, hearty Italian done right. We’ll be back again and again. Highly recommend—5 stars isn’t enough! Tammy from Houston area
My family and I ate at Nona's for the first time the day after Thanksgiving, and we enjoyed every bite and every minute! We had spent the holiday out of town and came back home to an empty fridge and we were too tired (lazy) to grocery shop or cook. We were in the mood for Italian food and this restaurant came up as something new we could try, and it turned out to be a post-Thanksgiving heaven-sent finding on google! From the atmosphere the moment we walked into Nona's, hearing the soft and lovely tune of a piano being played, to the lighting that set the most charming and cozy ambiance on that cold night, to the super friendly staff (Juan was our waiter and another young man also assisted us at times), to the drinks (I had two blueberry mules that were truly exquisite), and yes, to the food. The bread and oil concoction are still being talked about in my home (we're kicking ourselves for forgetting to buy a bottle of the oil). My kids are kids so they ordered basic pastas that they both thoroughly enjoyed, but my husband's chicken parm was PHENOMENAL (I know some might not be wow'd by chicken parm but trust me, not every restaurant can make one *this* good). My beef ravis in a pesto sauce were to die for. Finally, we shared a delicious Greek salad and an order of calamari that I initially didn't want, because I have never enjoyed how heavily breaded and fried it is at literally every other restaurant. It was perfection at Nona's! Even our daughter enjoyed it. We capped dinner off with a chocolate cake slice and a slice of key lime pie. The only advice I could even give Nona's is that the key lime could be more tart, but we still gobbled that down just as every other thing we ordered. Long review, but the short of it is 5 stars all the way and we are already planning to go back this weekend. After 7 years, we finally found our favorite Italian spot.
Nona’s is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant! The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with real, high-quality ingredients. Whether you're stopping in for lunch or dinner, you're in for a treat. The lunch options are generous and delicious — perfect portions and very reasonably priced. Dinner has such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, often made even more special with a lovely piano player (he plays at the perfect level so it's not loud at all) adding to the ambiance. The wait staff is always incredibly kind and attentive. We've celebrated several special occasions here, and the team always makes it feel extra memorable. Some of my favorite dishes (pictures don't do it justice): Eggplant Parmesan, Nona’s Favorite, Lobster Ravioli, 🍰 And don’t leave without trying their homemade tiramisu — it’s truly to die for! Oh, and the house bread with dipping oil? My husband and I literally fight over it — it’s that good. We’re proud to be lifelong customers. If you're looking for the best Italian food around, this is it. Highly, highly recommend!!!
The bread is complementary soft, warm and delicious. They serve it with a delicious sauce that is perfect. The lunch portion of lobster and crab bisque was perfect. It tasted just right and the temperature was just the way I like it and stayed warm throughout. I also had a side of meatballs that were good. I’m so happy I stopped here. Thank you Nonas
Huge portions, nice restaurant with white tablecloths. We went during the week for lunch and were dressed casually. Server was attentive. I ordered Spaghetti Your Way with Meat Sauce. My daughter had the Spaghetti a la Carbonara and her boyfriend had Cheese Tortellini a la Nona’s. Lunch is served with your choice of soup or salad and delicious bread. We all had leftovers. My spaghetti fed me for two more lunches! Really great spot. I wish I lived closer - it would be a great spot for date night.
As you can tell from the pictures, we were unable to take food pics before we began devouring our food. This has been the best Italian place we ever found. They make their pastas extra saucy. The pasta itself tastes like real pasta, it’s not overly filling. I got eggplant parm — veryyyy good My partner got the cheese ravioli rossi — also very good Not pictured - spicy ravioli fritti appetizer — amazing. Their cannoli is delicious
Our first time here. Excellent service and food. Some of the best italian food in the area. The escargot was some of the best we've ever had. We ordered from the lunch menu. Hubby had spaghetti and meatballs. I chose lasagna. Both were excellent! We both chose soup of the day to go with the lunch special. It was minestrone and very tasty! We also loved the bread and oil. We will definitely be back!
We had a delightful lunch experience at Nonna’s Italian Grill. Arriving a bit early, the dining room was quiet with just one other couple, giving us a peaceful start to our meal. The space, though small, is beautifully decorated with clean, classic Italian touches that made us feel right at home. We ordered the Pollo Piccata and Chicken Parmesan, and both dishes were delicious. The potato croquette that came with my Pollo Piccata could’ve been a touch hotter, but the flavors in the rest of the dish made up for it. My wife loved her Chicken Parmesan, and we both enjoyed the freshly baked bread with olive oil for dipping—a perfect start! Service was attentive and friendly, with ample parking available. The music overhead added to the pleasant ambiance. As we were leaving, more people began to fill in, so it seems we just caught the early quiet. Overall, a wonderful experience with reasonable prices. Highly recommended!
This is a pleasant Italian restaurant which has a refined atmosphere, food, and overall experience for a high price. Walking in to the restaurant, the first thing that stuck out to me was the live music playing in the background. I loved the performance and thought it was a perfect fit for the classy atmosphere the restaurant has. You can tell that Nona’s is an expensive establishment (average for Italian food) but in return will have an amazing experience. After we sat down our waitress Heidi brought us complementary bread and oil, which was a 6/10. I think pouring the oil for us individually on our plates was a nice touch. I wasn’t too fond of the bread, however. The inside was nice and soft, but I wanted the outside to be more firm. The oil was also very nice with an intense garlic flavor, but I think it could have used a pinch more salt. We ordered some bruschetta for our appetizers after a short wait, and I loved it. The bruschetta was a solid 8.5/10, with the only criticism I have is that the tomatoes didn’t look super fresh. After another short wait, our entrees came in. We ordered a beef tortellini portobella (6.5/10), beef ravioli fra diavolo (8/10), and Nona’s favorite (7/10) with a side of croquettes (9.5/10). The portion sizes are perfect; not too big so that’s overwhelming, but enough to fill us up. The tortellini portobella was decent, but nothing about the dish stood out specifically. The ravioli was what I ordered and thought it was the best tasting; the beef, tomatoes, and spice came out very well creating a strong dish. I think the Nona’s favorite tasted very good and flavor-wise was an 8/10, but I did not like the presentation. The sauce was too thin, there wasn’t enough color as the entire dish was a pale yellow (with some green cilantro), and the artichoke hearts and mushrooms were stacked on the chicken when I would have liked the dish to be a little more spread out. Finally, the croquettes were amazing. The outside was crispy, and the potatoey goodness on the inside was nice and soft. The only thing lacking was some marinara sauce on the side. Not that the dish was dry, just that I think a little bit of tomato would have gone a long way. Overall, we had an excellent experience. Heidi was great as our waitress, and our total came out to be ~$110, which is a lot for three people. I don’t know whether I’ll come back here with that price, but I would give Nona’s a recommendation as I enjoyed being here. Ratings system 1/10: horrible 2/10: bad 3/10: below average 4/10: slightly below average 5/10: average 6/10: slightly above average 7/10: above average 8/10: good 9/10: really good 10/10: excellent
This was a perfect date night atmosphere for my husband and I. The live piano music was a perfect fit and complimented the wind down to our busy lives. We ordered several dishes to try the culinary flavors of the venue. I highly recommend anything that has their marinara involved. The tomato flavor is so rich.
Very nice. Great service and the food was excellent. There were 3 of us. I had the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. My daughter had the Chicken Alfredo and my wife had the Portobello Mushroom Ravioli. We each had the house salad which is not included with your meal but is a nice salad. They have delicious bread and each person gets a plate of dipping oil. There are tables and booths and a bar. There are some tables outside if so inclined but it's a strip mall so the ambiance is a parking lot, much nicer inside. They also have a wine selection. Our waiter was super friendly. The three of us ate for around $126 including the tip without having wine or anything, only waters. We did get the desert too, we chose the carrot cake. Seems like a great place but can be deceiving if you're just some kids looking to grab a bite to eat. A full meal, salad and a drink will run you about $40 per person.
The pasta here tastes amazing! Me and my friend were looking for some Italian food and found this little place. The atmosphere was comfortable and classy at the same time. Our server Hector was very attentive. I had their seafood pasta (I don't remember the name) and every bite had seafood in it. The champagne pasta sauce for it is immaculate. Will definitely come back and try their other dishes.
The food was great. More so the entrees than anything. The bread was amazing. Standard fried mozzarella, great sauce. My fillet was cooked perfectly! Would've gotten desert but decided not to, here's why. We asked for a to go container for an entree and thought our server would come right back and ask if we were considering it but after having to flag someone down to ask for our check after our server left us never checking on us for 21 minutes we decided not to spend any.ore money as me and my wife were just very annoyed by that. Our sever started off fantastic but ended up fizzled out. Loved the food and atmosphere but not sure we will be back.
I am so disappointed, I had higher expectations for Nona’s since it’s rated well & they just weren’t met. Our service was okay, the server wasn’t very attentive and the bartender refilled our drinks more than our actual server did. The atmosphere was just very simple & plain for the prices on the menu. I’ll give them credit the bruschetta did taste really good, my husband enjoyed his steak and said it was really good. My father in law enjoyed his lasagna as well. The tiramisu was very good. But my dish I just wasn’t the biggest fan of at all. I had the seafood fettuccine, the sauce was super liquidy and just very thin. It didn’t even coat the noodles. The seafood was super chewy it just wasn’t the best. It was not worth $36 I’ll just say that. Overall, I think this one of those places that it has a lot of potential but just needs a-lot of work.
2/13/2026 Service and ambience was nice. Bread & salad was good. Appetizer had a weird oil after taste, we couldn’t finish eating it thankfully they removed it from the tab and main meal (Chicken Alfredo) was watery flavorless microwave flavor, I’ve eaten at many Italian restaurants and this is one of the worst on the list.
The good: great staff, even the waitresses who weren't mine were coming by and picking up empty plates and just totally nice staff in general. The place is beautiful also. Very appealing decorating and layout. Minor complaints: I understand everyone has theories own tastes but sweet with mild tanginess isn't my idea of marinara which I feel should be bolder with maybe a little kick. They really should think about getting some red pepper flakes or something for the kitchen. The calamari was decent but the breading could have used some crispness which was a bit disappointing. The lasagna was bland. Tasted like noodle and cheese. Couldn't find any flavor in the meat. The sauce on it was bland as well. And again a sweetness that doesn't belong in a red sauce. A little basil would at least be nice. The Caesar dressing was oily and not creamy. Again a minor discrepancy since I'm sure some like it their way but it being creamy helps coat the lettuce better take some edge off the acidity . The dipping sauce for the bread was a bit different. No major complaints and while not the normal sort of thing I'm used to it wasn't terrible so congrats for trying something different even if it was spectacular for me personally. Generally I get an Italian margarita and tiramisu for dessert but by that point in the meal i didn't need anything else to fall flat on flavor to disappoint so just decided to leave. I can see this as a great place for elderly people and their grandkids. Kids probably love the sweetness and elderly don't always enjoy the big bold flavors some places use. So this place has its place in the market but not for me or others who enjoy something that really hits your taste buds with a wow.
The place was clean and the atmosphere was okay, but surprisingly quiet — only two tables when we arrived, and we were the third. There was just one staff member handling everything from greeting to serving to checkout, so we waited a very long time just to place our order. The pasta we ordered (three dishes) came out not hot at all and overly creamy. This really didn’t feel like authentic Italian cuisine. Honestly surprised to see this restaurant rated 4.5 stars.
Closed at 9:40 on a Friday night, even though the listed closing time is 10 pm. I drove in from Austin and arrived right at 9:40, thinking 20 minutes would be enough to get some food, even if it was to-go. The host went to "check" with the kitchen, only to return a few minutes later and say they were closed. Most of the staff had already left, so they must have started closing much earlier. I also noticed that the employees parked in the closest spots, typically reserved for customers. This gives the impression of a business where the staff has already checked out. I hope the owner updates the hours on Google to reflect their actual closing time, as I would have chosen a different option had I known. I would be surprised if this business stayed open much longer. The food looks good but MGMT has obviously quit caring.
