Opinions de Burleigh's Luncheonette Ticonderoga
Wife and I have been told about this little gem a while ago. We live in the area and are always looking for a pleasant place to eat close by. As you walk through the door you think you are going back in time. The music was reminiscent of the 60’s (we are baby boomers). The restaurant had memorabilia hanging on the walls of that time. They have dinner specials on Friday and Saturday’s. We stopped in on a Friday evening for their dinner special which was baked chicken half with a rice and veggie side. Dinner special under $9.00 for half a chicken. The chick was flavored and moist like it was roasted. The rice side was not just plain rice it had a special mix of select veggies. Not out of box. Topped dinner off with strawberry shortcake with baking powder biscuits. Dinner for two with drinks and desert was $25.00. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast and lunch menu is also very reasonable. We definitely plan on returning to this gem of Ticonderoga.
Food was great, service was EXTRAORDINARY, and all in a cute 50's themed diner.
The owners of the ABNB we are staying in recommended Burleigh's Luncheonette. It was so much better than I expected. The food was EXTREMELY good. Very local atmosphere and our server was very friendly and patient. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.
This place is the bee's knees and the cat's pajamas all in one! Dropped by for lunch after visiting Ft. Tigonderoga. Ordered fish and chips basket and a patty melt basket. Yowzer, yowzer, yowzer, both were awesome! Sweet potato fries and regular fries were also perfect. The service was great. Atmosphere plays good, old rock and roll tunes (mainly 60s and 70s while we were there). The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. Restrooms are also remarkably clean. Highly recommend a stop at Burleigh's! 😋
This was a slice of heaven. Even if not visiting Ticonderoga, I would make a diversion to hang out here for a couple of hours. Great food and service. The burger is out of this world, and the pancakes for breakfast were 5 star, as was the atmosphere and service. Everyone hustling to look after the diners, but also taking enough time to give everyone personal attention. I will definitely go back someday. Shout out to Isaac, a true gent! I ran into him in the town later and he was as friendly and engaging off duty.
Very friendly staff. True diner experience. Vegetarian options are available. Not to miss their milkshakes. Prices are very affordable.
Love this throw back to the fifties diner! Service is fast. Food is great and the pricing is astoundingly affordable. I got homemade beef barley soup and a Reuben sandwich for $9! It was delicious and the pastrami was so tender. The have all day breakfast too.
Cute little 50s style diner. Food was good and very reasonable in price. Milkshakes looked great but no room after lunch
My brother in law and I ate lunch here the other day. It was fairly busy there but we were able to seated and order our food and drinks quickly. He had a burger and I had a philly cheese steak both of which were very good. The food came in fairly quickly considering how busy it was. We enjoyed our meal
Great hot, tasty food. Nice selection of reasonably priced menu items. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu. See you next August. Your friends from the Rocky Mountains!
Absolutely Fantastic everything, vintage diner vibe. Amazing foot even better service So glad I stopped Shiny like a diamond
Clean. Attentive. Friendly. Great food. This is a great place for breakfast & lunch.
Just a cute diner! Great service and food.
A wonderful casual dining experience with great food and friendly service. This classic luncheonette boasts booth and counter seating with rock and roll/ 1950s decor. We feasted on the weekly specials (a delicious stuffed shells with meatballs) and milkshakes and a wonderful butterscotch pie. This gem is a must for anyone visiting the Star Trek set tour just across the street. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent!
Friendly service, great food and fun atmosphere. Very satisfying experience
Super cute. Great prices and great food. I got the clam strips platter and my husband got the fish and chips platter. We sat at the bar stools and it was super fun. The staff is wonderful, knowledgeable and personable. Come in, say hi, be nice and get treated well!
Stumbled across this place in the small downtown area of the actual town of Ticonderoga. Glad I did. Great food, great prices, great customer service. 50s diner theme. $10-$15/ plate. My family of 5 each had a meal, with all three kids being ice cream and my wife and I sharing a fruit lush dessert for just under $65. If you're in the area and hungry you'd be silly not to go.
Wide selection of food. Nice retro diner feel and decor. They were pretty busy while we were there, so the kitchen seemed a little slow. Tasted good... Worth the wait.
It looks and feels like a 50's diner, except for the music but that didn't really matter. The staff and service was friend6, good, they showed fun in their work worked fast and knew the menu. The food was good and enough for me (not the huge amounts I'm seeing in other restaurants and where I leave 25% on my plate because it's to much). If I'm ever in the neighborhood again I will definitely come back.
Cool local diner with a 50s decor. Staff was very engaging and helpful.
Had breakfast here on the way to Fort Ticonderoga. Awesome atmosphere ..50's style diner with counter seating and tables. French toast excellent, coffee superb. Friendly staff and excellent service. Would like to return for lunch and a milkshake/frappe. Would highly recommend . Restaurant very clean including bathrooms. Prices reasonable and portions generous.
Excellent dinner with nice staff and good atmosphere
Great food. Great staff. Fast service and terrific atmosphere. We eat here all the time. If you are visiting Ticonderoga, you MUST stop here for breakfast or lunch. Dinner is served on Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Business is closed on Sunday.
Was a great time out, food seems priced right and taste really good. Our dishes didn't come out sloppy or to greasy. Son liked the food aswell, he's pretty picky lol. Staff was professional aswell. Overall still the great same service and place to eat that it has been. And they upgraded the size of the restaurant and it turned out really good. Keep it up!
Lovely little diner in town that we come to year after year. Simple food and lovely staff.
Very fun , very nostalgic fifties style luncheonet, food was great Burger cooked perfectly partner had fish special came with green beans and homemade mash potatoes . And friendly service.
I would eat at Burleigh's Luncheonette everyday if I could... breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lovely atmosphere, friendly people, good food and ohhh their desserts! Their daily specials are always delicious and I especially enjoy their dinner specials. Now let's talk desserts... their homemade cakes and pies are fabulous. Here's a hint... as soon as you walk in go straight to their cake and pie display and check out what they have. Sometimes I can't decide on just one so I have two!
Great food and service. Cranberry orange muffin delicious! People/staff - all friendly and service oriented.
Brought my parents for their anniversary and was highly impressed! From the fantastic food, enormous portions, great service and nostalgic atmosphere, this is now one of our favorite places! Everyone loved their food, including my 11 year old son!
We went for the Star Trek museum and had a great time, then went to eat at Burleigh's Luncheonette. It was a wonderful adventure and we had some great food, great service, and a great time with great prices. The special of the day, we all ordered and it was great. Well go back again next time we are in the area.
Like stepping back in time, cozy diner with both a counter and tables, extensive menu, and homemade desserts . clean friendly and most importantly, delicious food. Was in the area for some hiking for a few days stop there for lunch in the first day and went back for breakfast on the second day both were fabulous. The photos are of my lunch of a bacon, lettuce and tomato on toasted rye and a homemade piece of orange Creamsicle cake, both fabulous David M
Very friendly atmosphere. Good food. Absolutely love the theme ans my kids teally enjoyed it as well.
Absolutely the best bacon cheeseburger in town. Service is great although the older female waitress during lunch consistently has a look on her face like her dog just died.
The staff was attentive and friendly, the prices were modest, and the bathrooms were clean, spacious, and well-lit. The coffee was hot, and refills were quickly offered. The kitschy 1950s decor and memorabilia were a lot of fun and reminded me of items I remember from my visits to my grandmother in the 1960s. The luncheonette itself occupied a space that had been a pharmacy of the same name from more than fifty years ago. Burleigh's Luncheonette was a welcome and relaxing breakfast stop on our foliage tour of the region.
Good greasy spoon diner just like I LOVE. Friendly staff too Everything was warm and good. We had a variety of breakfast and brunch items. All fast and warm. Great job y’all.
I love the retro/Elvis vibe! This place has improved greatly since I was here two years ago. Simple menu, very delicious food. Very attentive and friendly staff, moved a table to accommodate my power wheelchair. I almost forgot to take a picture of my meal, ate half of it first! Very reasonable prices. Edit: this time when I stop by it was very busy, something I really like to see because it means this place will be around for a long time. They certainly deserve all the customers that can get. I had a delicious bacon burger to go!
We have had too many great experiences to count. Family breakfast, a quick lunch, but best of all, spectacular muffin platters and sandwich platters the morning of my daughter’s wedding. Truly memorable. Thank you!
I really cannot list a single negative about this place. I was in town with my club for a fishing tournament and we went here for dinner 3 days in a row. I don’t expect much from places up in the sticks but this place is a gem. Our waitress Carrie was fast and friendly. Service was excellent. Food was EXCELLENT. We brought food back for the guys who got off the water too late to join us and our club unanimously agreed this is the best in town. Oh and the desserts!! These people run a top notch place.
This little gem is a throwback to the 50s. The burger was delicious and the meat was thick. I asked for well done and they cooked it fully and it was still juicy. The ham club was good as well. The sweet potato fries were crispy and cooked to perfection. The raspberry sauce was tasty with them. The onion rings were nice and crispy and the onion to breading ratio was perfect. It's worth the stop here. Maybe next time I'll leave enough room to try those fantastic looking desserts.
I grew up in Ti and moved to Miami. Whenever we visit, a meal at the Burleigh Luncheonette is a must! The recent renovation has more than doubled the seating and they did a terrific job keeping it within the original 50s theme. Delicious food, friendly service and fun atmosphere. I always get a patty melt. Our son enjoys the chicken tenders and fries. My parents often come for dinner on the evenings they are open. It's a treat to have this little gem still in my hometown.
Malt milkshake, sweet potato fries, philly cheesesteak, bacon lettuce tomato sandwich, clam basket, grilled cheese with tomato soup, these are just some of our favorites in this cozy restaurant in a quaint small town of Ticonderoga. But what I like the most are the old school diner counter and chairs that they have. Added to it is the decor that includes old items of what used to be a pharmacy. Whenever we come here, it is always a treat to sit here, wait for the food to be served and just observe the wonderful humans that may be passing by or staying in town.
Delicious, clean, affordable. Just like a diner should be. Four stars instead of five because I really thought there should be music (it was weirdly silent for a 50's-style diner) and because there wasn't a big variety on the menu. But overall it was a really pleasant brunch with the husband!
While out enjoying the sun and taking a drive, i found this hidden gem, decided to give it a shot and stopped in for lunch. Service, food, and prices were awesome. Was the first time we've ate in a establishment in months. They ask a few questions for contact tracing- which made me feel at ease. I had the patty melt, companion had cheeseburger, and we shared an order of onion rings. Everything was hot, toasted nicely and crispy. Definitely would stop here again.
Charming place with a flexible menu. Excellent breakfasts. Diner-style with low slung chairs at an ample counter. Various signs posted joke about "attack waitress on duty" and other admonishments about complaining. They aren't kidding. While the food is good, the service carries an intimidating attitude. I was brought coffee with two packets of sugar. I asked for half-and-half. When I realized that there were no sugar substitutes nearby, I was literally afraid to ask for something else. Still, I returned a couple of times during my visit and enjoyed it.
Great vibe, and solid Diner food. The interior is a throwback with a lot of historic artifacts and chachski. It was quite busy when we were there but we got the last free table.
This is a nice little place with a great 50s decor. The food was good, I would have liked an option for fresh cut fries but other than that no complaints. It was busy so it took a bit for our food which is expected. Definitely would come back!
Throwback diner. Friendly staff, good food. Portion size just right.
Good quick service. The batter on my fried clams was overcooked. Key lime pie was a great choice for desert.
Great place . Very bright, clean and retro. Waitresses were very attentive however we were asked more than 6 times how the food was or how are we doing. I found it kind of annoying. The food was very good and reasonable. Will definitely like to visit again when in the area.
My wife and I spent three nights in Ticonderoga as part of a three week fall vacation that included a Canada and New England cruise from Quebec City to Boston. I chose Ticonderoga as one of our stops as I thought it would be a good location from which we could use as to drive to Stowe and other places in Vermont's Green Mountains; and then to Lake Placid and other places in the Adirondacks. Our plan was to see the fall colors and to visit several colonial historic sites in Massachusetts. The plan was good and we enjoyed the variety our road trips. But YIKES! We were shocked at the lack of restaurants in Ticonderoga and its disappointing condition. So, if you are thinking of visiting Ticonderoga, I suggest you not do anything more than a few hour visit. That being said, we found Burleigh's which is a diner in Ticonderoga's decrepit "downtown" with a limited comfort food menu. Nice clean dinner with good and personable 2 person wait staff. We ordered fish & chips and chicken tenders baskets which were served hot, properly done and tasted good. Very simple food but good. The two wait staff worked well together. So, if you find yourself in Ticonderoga and want a quick simple dinner, Burleigh's may be as good as it gets.
A great little retro diner in upstate NY area. Transports you back to the 50's with retro decor, neon lights and vintage photos. The staff was extremely friendly and service was quick. The Tuna Melt and Turkey club were about as good as it gets from a diner. The menu's not gourmet, just solid continental American fare as one would expect. A very enjoyable lunch experience overall. Recommended to anyone looking for solid diner food in a cozy and unique environment.
Staffed by friendly people and their food is what you’d expect in a small town, greasy spoon diner. They have all of the breakfast and lunch diner staple items on its menu. I I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich. There’s not much in terms of food options for breakfast in this town but this is a good option.
Good food, great setting, but service took too long. They nickel and dime for toppings. Please update receipts so you can see what items are being charged on it.
Have always loved coming here with family and friends. Not impressed with my last visit. We sat down and it took almost 40 minutes for us to get a food order in. Several tables were seated after us and received their food before we even got an order in. We had menus in front of us, and a table right next to use that got seated about 15 minutes after us and got attention, yet we were still ignored. I finally approached the waitress in front of the counter about the situation and she wasn’t friendly what so ever or accommodating. It seemed like we annoyed her. I have never left a google review or complained online about any establishment as I manage a restaurant and can be overwhelmingly understanding of many circumstances. The older waitress was not friendly and somewhat rude in taking our order after I asked if we could get a food order in. When we went to cash out the cashier asked how it was and I said the food is great but explained the service and delayed attention, this was responded with “that happens sometimes”. I was here to treat my mother and friend out to lunch, and I will definitely take them elsewhere next time. I have three stars and that’s only because the food and atmosphere is good, service not so great.
Both times this week the food was good atmosphere very nice. I hoped I would not get the same server and did. Big time slowdown just to get a table. The restaurant was half empty yet we waited a long time and it was like she resented our presence. Don’t look down in the restroom. The floors haven’t been cleaned in a long time
1.25 hr wait and the place emptied out around us! . Customers came in after us were all served first and eating, as well as many many many to go orders that were being bagged to go right across the counter. A woman came in sat down next to us at the counter and was served in 10 minutes. No second cup of coffee, no nothing was offered. We sat across from a black and white picture that had a date 1963 on it that was partially blocked by materials. Would have liked to know what it was a picture of.....it looked cool.
Monday, June 16, 8:15 - breakfast by myself. I was looking forward to giving five stars to this place a local told me about, but: 1. The persons waiting on me never refilled my coffee (small-ish mug) and 2. The persons waiting on me spent the hole time o was eating (10 min) talking to two guys at the counter. 3. My veggie omelette with sourdough toast was great. I think this is a good place and I just wasn’t lucky. If they can afford unlucky customers.
I was passing through from Burlington VT and searched out a lunch place in advance. This place looked good. The interior and ambiance actually nicer than I expected... very polished presentation. The service is prompt and friendly. The food was unfortunately not what I expected. See the sandwich picture? Looks great, right? Look again. Very small patty. It's like 60-70% of the sandwich you'd expect to be getting. For some people the amount would be just right, I ended my meal with a lot of bland crust left on my plate. I'd rather pay a couple bucks more and get a better sandwich experience... I can appreciate trying to keep price points where people want them, but this was a bit of a let down. EDIT: the owners are pretty on top of their social game, saw my review and sent me a considerate response (see below). While my experience was still valid, look for a more recent review to see if they took my feedback into account.
We were really excited to try this restaurant for my sisters bachelorette lunch. We got seated quickly. Once we ordered, it took 45 minutes to get our food. Food was hot and good but we had to chase staff down to get refills on drinks. Unfortunately as soon as a larger party walked in, we were harassed by the employees and the other party till we were finished and rushed out of the dining area. We felt pushed out of our table and were barely able to finish eating. Because of the service we won’t be eating here again.
Mean waitress, crappy breakfast food (+$3 surcharge for a handful of synthetic tasting potato chunks), had to sit at the counter on hard stools. Do not waste your time and money here.
Really sucks to leave a review like this but when you have 3 kids (including a baby) and you walk into a restaurant not realizing that it's closed and get yelled at when you walk through. Then ask to use the bathroom really quick after a 2 hour drive and you get smirks and receive a terrible reaction from ALL STAFF. No thank you. Will never come here. I was very excited to try it because of the ratings. I'm always excited for a local diner but we saw their true colors today. Edit: In response to the below. Review the footage again. Abruptly and repeatedly yelling "We're closed!", the heavy breathing and the tense annoyed body language from the staff, and the "pppffft" from the waitress may not have been picked up by your review of surveillance. By the time the man at the bar gave the go ahead I was already out the door. I'm not subjecting my kids to unwanted behavior from adults. I understand end of day and wanting to go home. I've spent many years in customer service and never treated a customer like they're unwanted. Also, the owner did stop and talk to me, which I appreciated... but your response below is not taking any responsibility for what happened today which makes that apology null and void. I've reviewed many restaurants and always leave positive ones. So for me to come on here to leave a negative one speaks volumes. And for all who are reading yes it was well after they were closed but the door was open and we were hungry and needed to use the bathroom and felt this would be a good and welcoming place to go. Very unfortunate.
The waitress was very unhappy to see us. It was apparently too early in the morning for her. Not the cute kutshy and attitude this woman can pull off. I can't tell you what the eggs were cooked with, but I will assure you, I'll never have eggs like that again. If you like margarine laden toast, this place is for you. I could only eat the crust. Absolutely everything tasted the same. The ham, if you could get through the gristle, tastes exactly like the bacon. These people truly don't care anymore. Could be more under a different owner. a 4.5 review is as absurd as the meal was. Please. Reorganization from the top down.
We USED to LOVE this little place and have recommended it to people...but we will NEVER go back again. We drove 30 min to specifically go here again. The kind hostess sat us at the high stool table at the front of the diner but the stools were too uncomfortable and in the direct noon time sun, so the kind waitress told us we could sit at the counter. When we went to move to the counter seats the manager or owner or whoever the woman was that was apparently in charge wouldn't allow it. She made us actually go back to the other uncomfortable high stool seats. The waitress and the host were extremely apologetic and seemed embarrassed for their superior's behavior. We tried to make ourselves comfortable but couldn't. The owner/boss/manager...whatever she was would not allow us to sit anywhere else so we apologized to the kind waitress and host and told them we couldn't stay. The waitress and host apologized again and gave us to-go cups for our drinks, kept apologizing to us, and didn't charge us for our drinks. We were so sad and upset about not being able to eat there. And....it was embarrassing!!!!
My boyfriend and I ordered eggs over easy with sausage and toast. The eggs were well passed over medium and extremely small. The blonde waitress was not friendly, never came to check on us, never refilled our coffee, nothing and was charged almost $20. I am a waitress myself and was astonished. She didn’t acknowledge us as we were leaving. Terrible!
Our order was taken most efficient and cordially then after an hour passed the table remained empty. When we complained we were told it would be right out. What came out was not ours. We paid for our sodas and went to mucky D’s
The place looked great and food was wasn’t bad. The service was awful. We ordered the special which was the sandwich with a cup of soup. We waited an hour and a 40 min. At one point we saw our server walking down the street with her car keys. I had to say something and was just going to pay for my drink and go when they went back to the kitchen and it was out 5 min later. There was no care for the customer there. They also put Togo orders before anyone sitting in their dining room. Would not recommend unless you have 2+ hours to sit for a sandwich and cup of soup.
Cute place, service excruciatingly slow, waited more than an hour for a simple sandwich. Food was mediocre, definitely not worth waiting for. Won’t be back.
Wish I could rate the food but can only attest to the malt which was very good..however ...after waiting for more than 45 minutes for our chicken Caesar salad and order of fried clams while seated ar the counter, we decided to leave.Food was nowhere near coming as there were others waiting who came before us. .gross inattentive service and must be poor management ...after reading your response I will react and go on record that at no time did anyone come to advise us of a long wait...we voiced our concerns to one young man who just looked embarrassed and overwhelmed...having said this, we came on a recommendation from someone who praised your diner highly so we were excited to try it..but...sitting on a stool for 45 minutes is not what I enjoy
If I could leave negative stars I would. Sat for 40 minutes waitress never even came back to ask me if I wanted to refill on my coffee when I went to the counter and inquired about if it was going to be much longer that I would have to leave she simply brought me my check for the coffee in the orange juice not even a sorry. I worked in the industry. I would have been fired for something like that.
We just waited, I kid you not, 45 minutes for three club sandwiches. Does it even matter if the sandwiches taste good? Completely unacceptable snail-paced service. Definitely don’t come here if you’re hungry.
I’m sorry to say it, but we had a bad experience here. It took a long time to get our order. The food was somewhere between bad and OK. The eggs were fine. The bacon was bad. The pancakes were just OK. The grilled potatoes were interesting and tasty. It has a fun local feel, and an old timey diner setting, but I wouldn’t go in there for the meal.
