This was the first time my family and I had visited this place. We loved it from the beautiful outdoor seating and view, to the delicious food and great service from Dave. I had the Cacio e Pepe with a Rosé wine. It was amazing. The baked calamari was tremendous as well as the clams. The flourless chocolate cake was 11/10. I can't wait to go back again!

A Hidden Gem in Tinton Falls, NJ! I’m so glad I discovered this quaint little gem in Tinton Falls! As a first-timer, my experience was so wonderful that I’m already a lifelong fan. This family-owned spot has some serious history—did you know their sister restaurant in Coney Island has been around since 1965? Such an impressive business-minded family! We were greeted by Victor, one of the owners, and Michael, a charming and personable bartender. We arrived early and had the bar to ourselves, which made the place feel even more intimate—like I was in a cozy countryside pub. The atmosphere was just perfect! For food, I had the pea soup and gem soup-salad combo, while my husband enjoyed the calamari. Both were absolutely delicious, and the drinks were fantastic too. I can’t wait to return for dinner—this place is a total must-visit!

Great food and good portions with excellent service. Nice selection of salads and appetizers with perfectly made bread. We had Chicken parm, made to perfection, stuffed squash with lobster & crab which was delicious and presented creatively, Chicken Piccata, tender and made fresh. Great selection of cocktails and nice bar area. Valet parking only. I Suggest reservations. We'll be back!

I have been a regular patron of the original Gargiulo's in Coney Island for over 40 years! This was my first time sampling the food from the New Jersey outpost of this venerable establishment. Full disclosure: My wife and I did not eat at the restaurant. I am recovering from emergency surgery, and my brother-in-law knew my fastest road to recovery would be via a Gargiulo's meal (or two). So he ordered some of my favorite dishes and had the restaurant ship them to my wife and me—from New Jersey to Utah! First, the food. Sausage and broccoli rabe was prepared in the classic fashion—nice and garlicky. Our next meal was chicken Scarpariello, which was even better. It was extremely flavorful and the chicken remained tender even after a journey of two thousand miles! Obviously, we had to heat up the food ourselves, but instructions were included, and anyway I'm an expert at reheating food. Now, the service. All the dishes were cooked, frozen, and packaged with tender loving care with insulation and freezer packs. They all arrived here in Utah in perfect condition. This is not something the restaurant typically does (or has EVER done) so the staff gets an "A+" for their efforts. I've still got a couple of meals to sample but I wanted to get this review posted to thank the folks at Gargiulo's for contributing to my rehabilitation (which is progressing very well!)

Fabulously romantic restaurant. White table clothes. Romantic music. Small cozy restaurant. Food is fabulous. Valet parking. I can't say enough wonderful things about the place. So glad we discovered it. This is truly a hidden gem. My husband was thrilled they carry Blanton's bourbon. Very classy. Very elegant. The halibut covered in cream and lump crab was amazing. The drinks were fabulous. The wine was our favorite. The Italian cheesecake was light and fluffy. The decaf cappuccino was the best we have ever had and it was wonderfully super hot. Just the best!

My niece had her small intimate wedding here and it was lovely. I would recommend this restaurant for a special dinner with your significant other or for a small party. It's elegant. The staff, especially Theresa and Christopher, were very attentive. The food was good especially the fried zucchini and egg plant. The fire pit was a nice outside place to gather even in December.

The most amazing experience. It isn’t often you can combine great Italian specialities with fantastic service and a great atmosphere.

Normally post pictures of the meals we ordered, but everyone was so hungry, and the food smelled so good that it was eaten before I could snap a shot. The only picture is the tartufo. We were rather full by then and split it between us. The calamari appetizer was excellent and The portion size was impressive. We were there for lunch on Wednesday and were able to park at the restaurant. It was cozy with white tablecloths and the entrees were delicious. A great dining experience

Gargiulo’s has a beautiful, warm atmosphere inside. Their staff are attentive and courteous. Most of all their food is well-displayed and is exceptionally tasteful. Delicious food and excellent service from hostess & servers. Great selection of drinks and entrees. I had the Shrimp Scampi with a glass of the Il Vecchio.

Appetizers and dinner were excellent, it's refreshing to enjoy a restaurant that prioritizes quality over quantity. Service was excellent, very attentive and we never felt rushed. We will definitely return.

We had a Valentine's dinner at Gargiluo's and it was fantastic. The atmosphere is very romantic and they had a wonderful live jazz singer that wasn't too loud. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the veal. Both dishes were cooked/seasoned to perfection. The wine was reasonably priced. Even on a notoriously busy night, the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

We were there Saturday night and was delicious from the appetizers to the dinners and desserts! There was four is us all loved it! My son and his girlfriend was there before and took us in so glad they did! The food was very good and hot. The server was very helpful and attentive. We will definitely go back!!

Very quaint place. Friendly and fast service. Food came out very quickly and was delicious. If I had any very small requests it would be to ask for softened butter (came out frozen). If it was a little bit softer, you can enjoy the Italian bread the way it should be. Maybe, possibly offer some sides with your meal that don't cost additional. Other than that, no complaints.

Great place with real neighbor feel, classic music in the background and not loud enough that you don't have to shout at the person your with. Food was great and you didn't feel like you got shaken down when your handed the bill.

I cannot say enough great things about our experience at Gargiulo's last night. The food, atmosphere and service were all spotless. Amanda took fantastic care of us and went above and beyond to assure me she understood my food allergy restrictions - that kind of empathy goes a long way in making a dinner out less nerve-wracking when you can't eat certain things. The gluten free baked stuffed clams were fantastic as was the fennel salad. They do have gluten free penne and prepared it for me with garlic, oil and broccoli even though that wasn't a dish explicitly listed on the menu. The upstairs seating was so comfortable, AC was cranking and we were checked on many times throughout the night. This is a true Italian establishment. The best part was winning Tombola at the end of the meal and the restaurant really making good on what they promised! We cannot wait to come back. It is definitely possible to eat here safely if you cannot eat gluten and dairy.

Our fourth time for dinner here and it was excellent again. Drinks were great with plenty of booze but tasty with a reasonable price. They even served a delicious bread where most restaurants have eliminated that perk. Our salad was very good and the halibut was one of the best I have ever had and the sauce was perfect. Service was great and the place had a “classy” vibe and was not noisy so you could talk easily and hear your friends. We will definitely be back again soon.

Making dinner an experiencer not just an event.. Every single person from the valet, bartender, servers and owners were so pleasant and friendly and really made you feel like dining out was worth the money. The Food - amazing! I highly recommend the scallop and lobster chowder and baked calamari . Loved it - will definitely be back.

The staff was great as always. Soft shell crab was delicious as well as the pasta special. Sadly we didn't win the guess the number game for a free meal, but we'll be back to try again.

We’ve been here for dinner several times, but we recently booked a small private room for a party of 8 for my husband’s 60th birthday - not only was the food incredible but the service was exceptional and since we had our own room we had the music of our choice and didn’t have to worry about disturbing other diners. It was a great night!

We were there Thursday night for a company dinner and the food was fantastic, the service was super friendly and the drinks were great the place was pretty and the whole thing was a great experience. I recommend it, we will be back! We were 21 people and were not made to feel rushed anything. Reservations are a must though and we had them. Loved it all!

Absolutely outstanding!! Great atmosphere, great service, and fantastic food from appetizers to entrees to desserts! Have been to the original in Brooklyn many times over the years but this was our first time at Gargiulo’s in Tinton Falls and it did not disappoint. Spoke to Theresa at the end of the night and she was very welcoming and sweet. We will DEFINITELY be back! Not one negative thing to say about the entire experience.

Great tasting Italian food. Carefully prepared and made with the finest ingredients. Homemade flavors in an atmosphere that makes you think you found a small, locals’ favorite spot in Italy’s Tuscany or Taormina. Yes, I am a fan! Gargiulo’s can easily become your favorite Italian restaurant.

We came here for the first time recently with two other couples for a grown ups night out and we were so pleased with everything. The restaurant downstairs is cozy, romantic and homey, the staff was friendly. The waiter was awesome .. never rushing our group, always attentive and pleasant. The food was excellent. The menu is large enough that there are plenty of options without being too much to chose from. Wine list was very nice. This is a great place for a romantic dinner. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful quaint place with top tier service. Ambiance is wonderful, food is great, we had the fall soup, calamari, Gargiulo's salad, and rigatoni bolognese. Dessert was tiramisu and cheesecake. They were delicious. Wait staff and valet were amazing. The whole experience was delightful.

We ate here for the second time tonight. Really enjoyed the meal. The restaurant was very busy as it should be on a Saturday night. We had stuffed clams which were delicious. My wife had the Filet cooked medium. It had a stuffed veal special they had. It was also excellent. We will definitely go back again. Prices are reasonable and the service is great.

We went to last night for our anniversary dinner and it was one of the best dinner experiences. The food was INCREDIBLE. We had burrata as an appetizer followed by a filet mignon cooked to perfection and shrimp scampi (I tried the pasta and sauce but not the shrimp) and we were blown away then they had a delectable dessert brought to us including a caramel crunch ice cream, a tartufo and tiramisu. The drinks were top notch. Our bartender made the best mojitos I think I’ve ever had and curated a whisky flight that was immaculate. The live entertainment by @zackjazz made the atmosphere absolutely perfect. I don’t think we could have had a better experience. We will definitely be back again and again.

I picked this place for two reasons, I know the restaurant in Coney Island and always loved the food there. This place was smack in the middle between me and my Mom, and my Aunt and Uncle and cousin. We met here and had a great lunch. I made a mistake with the original reservation and had to change it to 7, from 6. They were extremely cooperative. We had amazing sweet potato soup, bucatini w/ zucchini, they even prepared an alfredo sauce for my Mom, even though it wasn't on the menu. We will be back!

Amazing service, food, and atmosphere. This is our new first choice. The sweet potato soup was the best I've ever had. The namesake salad was hardy and dynamic, and the filet mignon was incredible. I've been meaning to try this restaurant for years, and I'm glad that I stopped in at the last minute to finally try it. I wish I took photos, but I will next time and I'll update my review.

My husband and I just celebrated our 51st anniversary tonight at Garguilos. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The rice balls and veal rustic were delicious and the service from our waiter Victor was fantastic. From the servers to the owner Everything made this a perfect evening. We will be back. Thank you everyone. ❤️

Food was fabulous. The service was great. We were not rushed. There was a piano player playing a keyboard in the background, which set for a beautiful atmosphere. I will return again and again and again.

This was a find! I set it up to meet midway between me and my mother and my cousin and my mother's brother and wife. I've been to the one in Brooklyn so I knew the food. But this was even better than I remembered everything was excellent. I loved the lunch combos that they offered on the menu!!

Service and food was good! Nice not to have to drive to NY! We sat upstairs and we were the only ones upstairs for a bit so it was super quiet and as others began to come in it got louder as expected but no issues with excessive noise! We had calamari racanati and rice balls to start. I ordered the Julia salad which I really like. Dinner my husband had chicken parmigiana and I had shrimp francese. I ordered a side of penne vodka to see how their sauce was. Everything was good. The complimentary limoncello was nice touch! I had prosecco and he had house red cabernet which were both good. They had strawberries which I love to put in my glass to sweeten the prosecco! We had a lot left over being we enjoyed out appetizers so much!

First time here as Gargiulo's. Lovely owners father, son and daughter.. could not be kinder, the wait staff was exceptional...except our server. Food was very good.. atmosphere was cozy and perfect..outside was decorated very pretty for the fall season... very festive and pretty. I would definitely go back and would definitely recommend this sweet place to my foodie friends. Our server was a bit over the top..and did not follow up on anything we ordered. Maybe he had an off night? We all have them! The owner came and took care of us in a very professional, caring and generous way, he made sure we were happy. Fabulous and smart business man..he could not do enough to make it right. I will always go back...and I will always recommend the sweet gem to others.

I was definitely disappointed with the Lasagna Bolognese ….The layers of pasta were not there with creamy ricotta, it was more like a sponge of ricotta sitting in the middle that you could separate from the pasta. I can cook as an Italian and make a delicious lasagna as well as other dishes.

Busy night with tent wedding in parking lot. Sat upstairs. Only one table busy at first. Tables full when we left. Building completely renovated from the last restaurant. Moved bar, tables space and opened upstairs. Ordered bottle of wine. They are out. Why? It's a lower priced bottle. The AVERAGE bottle of wine is $100. It's little outrageous at this restaurant. Our bottle was three times cost. We drink enough wine to know costs. Not worth it. Food. Had the cheese tasting for appitizer. Very good. Limited cheese choice but still good. Dinner. Rigitoni Bolognese and Chicken Franchese. Both very good. Server never offered specials to us though. Three other tables server mentioned specials. Not us. Desert. Lemonchello ice cream and profiteroles. Good. Final words. Good restaurant. Super over priced liquor. Food food and worthwhile. Good but not sure if I'd return. Too many better priced and same quality food.

Gargiulo’s in Tinton Falls is known for its classic Italian fare served in a charming, historic setting. We’d heard only positive things before our visit, but unfortunately, our experience didn’t quite live up to the hype- perhaps we caught them on an off night. The restaurant’s ambiance is warm and inviting, with indoor and outdoor seating and complimentary valet parking. Service is generally attentive, and the menu features house-made pastas, seafood specials, and tempting desserts. We ordered the Calamari and Stuffed Artichoke for appetizers, both of which were excellent. Our entrees included the Seafood Orzo Risotto, Sole Francese, Roasted Eggplant, and a Mahi Mahi special. Everything was delicious except for the sole, which was far too salty to enjoy. It was a busy Saturday night, and the staff seemed overwhelmed. Someone lost our kitchen order ticket, and the delay went unnoticed until we brought it up after finishing our wine. As a result, we ended up opening a second bottle. Fortunately, the wine list is exceptional. The restaurant did apologize by comping the Calamari appetizer for the inconvenience. We noticed that regulars seemed to be seated promptly, while first-time guests like us waited 15 to 20 minutes past our reservation time. Despite this, the overall value was good: we paid $300 for four people, with half spent on wine. We plan to return for lunch to see if service is smoother when the restaurant is less crowded. Based on the many glowing reviews, our experience seems to have been an exception rather than the rule. We’re looking forward to giving Gargiulo another chance.

I rarely leave reviews, but our experience at Gargiulo’s Tinton Falls was disappointing from start to finish. This was meant to be a birthday dinner for me. From the moment we sat down, our waiter spoke to us with condescension—as if we didn’t belong there. It set the tone for a meal that only got worse. We were told we couldn’t order appetizers first because “Saturdays are busy and the kitchen appreciates getting the whole order at once.” That’s not hospitality—it’s control. My husband ordered the ravioli for dinner and was stunned to receive just four small pieces on the plate. $24.50 for four ravioli? That’s not a portion—it’s an insult. I had the shrimp scampi, which was equally underwhelming, bland and poorly executed at $36.50. Even the drinks were a letdown. The bartender couldn’t manage a decent Martini or Vodka Gimlet—both arrived unbalanced and sloppy, which only added to the sense that quality wasn’t a priority. We were seated in a cramped upstairs room that felt more like a storage closet than a dining space. Even the bread was forgettable—something you’d expect with a takeout antipasto, not at a restaurant charging $50–100 per person. I had hoped for a warm, authentic Italian experience. Instead, it felt like we were being tolerated, not welcomed. Definitely not returning. Added 11/12/2025 Thank you for your response. Just to clarify on our end: my husband walked in two days prior to make the reservation in person, so while it may not have shown up under OpenTable, we did have one. As for the Shrimp Scampi, the photo I shared reflects exactly how it was presented at the table—before anything was touched or mixed. I understand presentation can shift once plated, but in this case, what we received looked just as pictured. I appreciate your willingness to address the concerns, and I hope this helps clarify our experience.

I don't like to post this type of review but felt compelled because I am sure others may go assuming it is just like the Brooklyn Garguilos. This one was disappointing.. NOT same as in Brooklyn. Obviously they can't use same chefs. I wish I read the reviews before I spent all that money. Bolognese sauce was metallic and too salty. Rigatoni was overcooked. Homemade pasta was good but sauce, not. Roasted garlic appetizer was not roasted correctly thus lost its flavor. Even the Miller on tap was too fizzy and off. Caesar salad $24? And what's with the rotten egg smell as you walk in and out? They can do really great here as the name alone will bring people in.

Please the waitress took 15 minutes to come over then the drinks took another 20 minutes to arrive. The food was taking long so we asked where the food was and the hostess came over with an attitude and said we don't like to rush our customers. Then she says it's only been an hour since the order was put in. The food came out and it was bland. Stay away from this place it was much better when it was porto fino

S
Sharon Simmons

Services was really bad waiter never came to our table to take our order after giving us our appetizers.. The hostess took our order then another person came over to see if everything ok got our drinks..Very disappointed the way we where treated..1star for the waiter
