Great food. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. It’s pretty cool that they have happy hour here. Definitely recommend this place
Excellent food. They have a full bar and Happy Hours Mon-Fri, 3pm to 6pm. I had a Salty Dog with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. So yummy. For my lunch, I had the soup, (chicken tortilla), garden salad & bread choice, Combo. I had the zucchini bread. Delicious! Such a great deal. Staring at their bakery with the pies & cakes, was very tempting. My boyfriend had the dinner pot roast meal. He practically liked the plate clean!
1940's family diner-style restaurant. Decor is modern vintage. Very clean. Food was excellent. I didn't get to try the pie but I'll be back. This place is kinda like an event to enjoy and savor. Eat, relax and then have pie and coffee kinda place. Prices are not diner prices. It is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for, and this place is excellent.
I had the pumpkin pancakes with the cream , and it was so amazingly good. Fresh, hot and just the right amount of sweet , atmosphere is always busy and calming at the same time. I am a regular and love the food.
Wasnt crazy about the food it wasnt bad though it just wasnt for me. I had a pot pie zucchini bread and a potato soup. I probably enjoyed the soup the most. Restaurant was very well staffed very clean and fast. Paid about 80 bucks for 3 ppl
The food is amazing...everything on the menu is delicious! The servers are great; very warm and friendly. The music is so relaxing and themed to the time of year, Christmas, summertime etc. Come in for a meal or some baked goods; you won't be disappointed.
II absolutely adore this place! I've been visiting Hof's Hut since I met my wonderful husband 24 years ago, and it has been our special date restaurant ever since. I even went there when I was pregnant with my first child, and now I enjoy it with my husband, daughter, and son. The food is always fresh and delicious, and let me tell you, the pies are simply out of this world! I can't recommend this restaurant enough—it's such a joyful experience!
Atmosphere…we like it fine. We’ve been fans since we lived round here about ten years back & we come here to visit family a few times per year. Basically, we’re old (65+) and at around 4:00 pm it’s dinner at the assisted living, only it’s Hof’s so service & food are better. Plus we’re the youngest. We also liked it when we were 50, and 40, though. Then we didn’t notice we were “young.” Once you buy a red car, you see the other red cars. I recommend for all ages!
Coming from the east coast, I’ve really missed diners since moving to the west coast. This place was as close as I’ve come to having that classic diner experience, right up to the pastry counter up front. The service was excellent and I loved the French dip. May have found my new favorite spot in LA! Will definitely be back!
Stopped in for my first time this past weekend and I was really impressed. Definitely one of the better and well-run diners in the South Bay. I myself live in Marina del Rey so I don’t make it down to this area often but I had heard about Hof’s for quite some time so I wanted to check it out. They are well known for their bakery items and especially for brunch. Based on this we decided to stop in for brunch and overall had a great meal. The clientele leans a little bit older, I saw many retired gentlemen and ladies, but I think that just shows that they are a consistent diner. Inside is quite large, actually much bigger than I expected, they have an indoor dining area with plenty of booths and tables as well as a covered and heated outdoor area. So wherever you sit, you’ll be comfortable and warm. There also is a giant free parking lot attached on property, which is a nice change for me coming from West LA. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. The menu is also huge so it has tons of options to choose from. I started off the breakfast with a Cinnamon Roll from their bakery, which I thought was pretty good. It was not as gooey as I like it, but I still really enjoyed it. For my breakfast, I chose the Melting Pot Omelette and really enjoyed it. The green chilies really added a nice flavor component and overall, it was really good. It was also a large sized portion so I could barely finish it. Overall, I would suggest this spot for a great breakfast or lunch option and I would stop in again next time I am in the South Bay area at breakfast time.
We went to Hof's Hut (Torrance) with a group of 13. Had a reservation. They seated us immediately. The food was all very good. I had the Yankee Pot Roast. My wife had the spare ribs. We were not in the main restaurant but in the adjacent room...very light and bright. We had two people who spoke Japanese in our group, and our waiter (Juan) spoke a good amount of Japanese to them. He was GREAT!
First time here and overall great experience the waitress was quick and accomodating and the food came without delay. The food is spot on delicious. I personally had the steak with mash potatoes and brocolli, and I devoured the entire dish. I will definitely go back and try another dish, but I am pretty stubborn on sticking to a dish that knocks my socks off. I would recommend ordering the seasonal pies before your meal, especially if you're dining in the evening time due to them selling out fast.
Went there multiple times. This time wanted to share my experience so other people know about the restaurant they’re really popular for their pie and it’s really amazing. You either do dining or takeout. Their breakfast is really good. Went there for lunchtime this time there was about 10 minutes wait time around 12 noon. After the order food didn’t take that long. About 15 to 20 minutes, which is normal. There was plenty of parking in the front. Our server was really nice. Keep checking on us. Only disappointing part was fries 🍟 this time wasn’t fresh or crispy it was soggy. Other than that everything was excellent. Hopefully next time they won’t fry too many fries and leave it there for long time. Banana pie is amazing will get this week again.
I really like fresh peach pie, and came to Hof’s Hut to have an early bird dinner and a peach pie. Well, there is no early bird special, but they DO have Happy Hour until 6pm on weeknights. I didn’t realize they serve cocktails and I got a Passion fruit Mule, and my husband got a Prosecco. Both drinks were very good, and I would definitely recommend the Passion Fruit Mule to anyone who likes a refreshing easy to drink cocktail! I ordered the Rotisserie Chicken Walnut Salad thinking it would be like a Chinese chicken salad. It’s actually two scoops of an American chicken salad (the kind with mayo you would put on a sandwich) on top of the veggies mentioned in the menu, which includes mandarin oranges. It wasn’t bad… just not what I expected. My husband ordered the bbq combo - picking tri-tip (ordered med-rare), ribs and shrimp. It came with two sections of corn on the cob and baked beans and cornbread. He added a cup of clam chowder for $4.25. We both really liked the New England style clam chowder even tho we normally like a really creamy thicker clam chowder. The thinner style was better for the hot summer day, and the flavor was fantastic. When we got his plate, he went to butter his corn and the butter wasn’t melting. We touched the corn cobs and they were barely room temperature and the kernels had collapsed like they had been sitting out for a while. And the tri-tip was well done and looked like a thin piece of jerky. We are not the type to complain, but Stephanie, our server was very nice about it and took the offending pieces away on a separate plate and came back a bit later with a nice medium-rare tri-tip and plump sections of corn that were a little warmer. In the meantime, we dug into the ribs, shrimp, and beans. Surprisingly, the shrimp was perfect and not overdone. It’s rare to have that in this type of family restaurant. I liked the beans better than my husband did, and we both thought the ribs were just OK… would have been great if they were not overcooked. Of course the cornbread was very good, as usual here. They serve you a small individual loaf so it’s a good size and retains moisture. Unfortunately, they were all out of fresh peach pie. We got the Dutch apple instead… a la mode of course! I’ll have to make another trip to get the peach pie in the future, while it’s still in season! Through this all, the place has a nice airy family diner restaurant atmosphere. I felt we could hang and talk and relax. The service made up for some of the shortcomings of the food. Stephanie was a great server, and was very accommodating. Plus, she did everything with a smile and graciousness. There were certain foods that were great, but most of the foods are what I would consider OK and standard. So it really is dependent on what you get. But if you are looking for a family diner restaurant, it’s a good safe bet to come here. The two-stalled women’s restroom was clean with no offending odors. Always important in my book.
Stopped at Hof's Hut after a long day helping mom. We were beaten and hungry. Elle was our server and very nice and efficient. We both had the chicken tortilla soup, which was quite good, and then, for our entrees, my wife had the open faced turkey sandwich, and I had the roasted turkey entree. Both meals were quite good and filling. My wife had a Bloody Mary, and I had an ice tea. The restaurant is very clean with a positive ambiance. Recommended
Hof's Hut - been here many times. Love the food and the portion was good. But, this time Feb 5, 2026 brunch was not very good. The portion of the food was much reduced, smaller plates, reduced 25% or so on the food content. Quailty of the food was still good. The environment was quiet about 1230 p.m. when we eere there. Pricing has not changed much.
The cuisine is excellent, however, the service falls short, being merely average. I had to request a water refill multiple times before it was attended to. Ideally, staff should be attentive to customers' needs, but I observed that our server was preoccupied with conversation while neglecting her duties. Consequently, I had to approach another waiter to request a refill, which was eventually provided by a different waitress. Shortly after, she brought a pitcher of water, despite us already having been given one.
Service was top notch. From host to server, everyone was attentive and made it pleasant to be there. Food was okay. Not sure what kind of eggs they use. I ordered poached eggs and they were tiny. Would have fit in a teaspoon. When I make poached eggs, they are the size of eggs. The women's bathroom stank of something strange. Between spoiled food and vomit. Worst: the faucets have no water pressure. It took me a long time to wash my hands and that made me worry if the staff take enough time to wash hands thoroughly after using the facilities. I used to love this Hof's Hut and made it my breakfast or lunch spot of choice for years. I don't think I'll be back for a while.
I was in the area and realized I have never been to a Hof’s Hut, so I decided to check it out for breakfast. When I arrived around 11:30am, parking was tight but I eventually found a spot. The restaurant was packed with people meeting for brunch/lunch. I wanted to sit by the window to get views of the outside and inside. I was seated right away and had a very nice waitress Michelle. I didn’t know what to order but knew I wanted breakfast. I decided on the breakfast quesadilla with sausage. This came with fruit. The serving was pretty big and the food was meh. I hate olives and nowhere on the menu did it say there were olives in the dish, yet they were in my sour cream which I disliked. The meal was very generic food nothing amazing about it. And only 1-2 pieces of the cantaloupe and melon were nice and sweet. I’m not sure if I ordered the right thing. But if I ever go again, I will definitely try something else.
This review is specific to one item (pie) that was picked up today. My wife picked up a pecan pie that we planned to have after dinner tonight, at home. The pie had been refrigerated since it was picked up, which was a little over hours. As soon as I cut into it, I noticed it was a little too soft. When I went in for the second cut, the crust began to breakdown and collapse into the pie. I tried to remove a slice but it just fell apart and the filling began to spill out. It had the consistency of soup... The pie was extremely undercooked. This has happened at least a couple other times when we've picked up pies but this was the first time it was this bad. The entire WHOLE pie went into the garbage. I called the restaurant and spoke with a manager named Mike. I informed him about my experience and told him I needed a refund for the pie. I provided him the information off my receipt and he stated that he was going to credit the cost of the pie back to my card. He apologized for the experience and seems to have handled this appropriately.
