We stopped at the restaurant on our way down from a brief visit to the very picturesque Lake Delio. The restaurant is accessible from the road leading to the lake, via a dirt path that starts at a hairpin bend and leads to the front of the building (be careful with your car, as the road is quite bumpy). There are parking lots and even a charging station for electric bicycles. The view from the restaurant is breathtaking, perfectly framing Lake Maggiore and making our stay even more enjoyable. The menu consists mainly of main courses accompanied by polenta; the portions are generous, and everything we tried was truly delicious! They also serve slinzega, a local type of meat that's very good and hard to find elsewhere. They have a selection of wines but only one beer (besides the non-alcoholic one), Italica beer, which turned out to be very good. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, very helpful in answering our questions. Reservations would be appreciated, given the restaurant's capacity, but the hostess welcomed us without any problem. I highly recommend it, and I'd love to come back to try other dishes!

We were on a hiking and we had the great surprise to find this incredible restaurant in the mountains. Everyone was kind. Great service. And amazing food. Best polenta ever and good wine. The view is amazing.

Luogo molto bello con vista panoramica sul Lago Maggiore. Personale cordiale e simpatico. Varie pietanze proposte da accompagnare alla polenta che in questo locale è preparata con farina macinata grossa. Una sorpresa per chi non l'ha mai assaggiata, come me!!!! Prezzi nella media. Da provare l'amaro, fatto nella zona, che propongono loro a fine pasto.

Bellissima location, è praticamente una terrazza sul lago maggiore! Buona polenta e selvaggina, anche i salamini di cinghiale sono deliziosi

Dignitoso pranzetto veloce dopo l'arrampicata in cima al passo Forcora. Cinque stelle per il panorama mozzafiato. Da vedere assolutamente. Ottima tappa per motociclisti, disagevole in auto

Beautifully positioned to view Lago Maggiore whilst you dine! Coffee was superb, however the food was relatively average. Lovely atmosphere, made even more delightful by dogs being allowed. Plenty of parking spots is a bonus. You can do the hike past Lago D’Elio from here and the further hike up to Monte Borgna (if you do, make sure you have a toilet stop at the Ristoro first!)

Abbiamo riservato un tavolo per un pranzo di domenica. Al nostro arrivo abbiamo atteso il proprietario che stava prendendo ordini, ma quando si è liberato e ci ha visto non ci ha fatto sedere. Abbiamo cercato e trovato il nostro posto riservato e ci siamo seduti. Accoglienza pari a zero. Vicino a noi c’erano due ciclisti che stavano aspettando di ordinare da ben 20 minuti. L’abbiamo presa con filosofia, il panorama era bello, il tempo pure, non avevamo fretta. Dopo una lunga attesa abbiamo ricevuto l‘antipasto. Un piatto di salumi e formaggi molto gustosi. Sono seguiti la bisteccona del contadino (la carne era immangiabile, con un gusto ambiguo) e il tris di ravioli, buoni. La poca cura del cliente e l’ambiente quasi ostile non ci metteva a nostro agio. Peccato per un posto con vista sul lago Maggiore, in mezzo al verde e raggiungibile sia in auto, che in bicicletta o a piedi. Quando non si ha più la passione per fare il ristoratore si dovrebbe smettere. Per completezza di informazione aggiungo che la bistecca non ci è stata fatturata, dopo che abbiamo reclamato.

posto meraviglioso con vista su tutta la parte sud del lago maggiore. fuori ci sono tavoli in legno, ed intorno il silenzio del bosco. tutto bene quindi? non proprio. il cibo non è niente di che, basandosi sui soliti stereotipi di questi locali: polenta, cervo, rostisciada (termine dialettale), bruscitt (idem), oltre a improbabili lasagne e ravioli. Quanto al servizio, la gentilezza e soavità della giovane nipote dei titolari compensa solo in parte l' approccio ai clienti della proprietaria, che definire rustico è gia un complimento. peccato. La cortesia non costa nulla, e varrebbe un punteggio più alto.

Il posto è molto bello con vista lago immerso nella natura, ma quello che abbiamo mangiato non era un gran ché, il servizio inesistente perché è a Self servis, e i prezzi un po' altini se si considera l'insieme. Insomma non è il posto che si pensa di trovare andando in montagna!

Partendo dal presupposto che i gusti sono indubbiamente soggettivi,i piatti erano passabili nulla di eccezionale. Quello che ho visto un sacco di polente lasciate quasi per interne e piatti che tornavano indietro in cucina. Abbastanza buono il tagliere con affettati misti. Non male gli spätzle alla boscaiola. Ma con il servizio si è completamente fuori strada. Si parla di oltre un'ora di attesa per avere da bere e poi un tagliere su due,e nemmeno giusto rispetto quelli ordinati,dopo altri 45 minuti è arrivato il primo,e il secondo lo abbiamo annullato altrimenti venivamo via a mezzanotte. Continui litigi tra personale di sala e cucina,inchiodata e in tilt,con frasi scortesi verso i commensali. Poi parte del personale impreparato(nn sapeva nemmeno descrivere i piatti). Il salame di cioccolato assolutamente immangiabile,e la crostata se pur un pó meglio si vedeva che non era fresca, la crema aveva il giallo tipico di quando sta in frigo da un giorno almeno. In conclusione i prezzi esposti sul menù sbagliati rispetto alla realtà, due euro di differenza sui taglieri ovviamente abbiamo pagato in più,ma per non litigare abbiamo lasciato perdere. Ci è venuto il dubbio di essere su Cucine da incubo in incognito. 1 tagliere "grande",3 primi, un bicchiere di vino 2 dolci 64 euro Non consiglio assolutamente questo locale.Peccato perché il posto è il panorama sono straordinari infatti è lunica foto che merita di essere postata...

As soon as we sat down, however, we were greeted with a warm reprimand: they explained that they were slow, because apparently everyone had the brilliant idea of ​​not booking or booking at 11:30. It was 1:00 PM. After ordering, I went to the bathroom to change my daughter's diaper: an immersive experience. Dirt everywhere, with honorable mention for the high chair, which looked like it had seen more battles than us. After an hour (okay, they told us), the food arrived: polenta, yes, but lasagna for the baby, no. My polenta with gorgonzola cheese was as dry as desert, and the cheese, stoic, remained cold and impervious to any attempt to melt. The icing on the cake: a hair on the plate, so we didn't miss anything. When the little girl's lasagna finally arrives, I hand her back the plate, explaining that I can't eat cold cheese that doesn't even melt. The lady tries to argue, so I point out the hair. Silence. Too bad, because with a slightly more positive attitude, one could overlook the small, big details. But not like this. The view, however, is truly beautiful.

Hospitality and kindness certainly don't suit the lady at the cash register. The blue-eyed girl at the counter repeatedly tried to "save" the embarrassing situation caused by the lady's rude manner. Perhaps she should opt for a position that doesn't involve direct customer contact. Nice location with a breathtaking view. Sufficient quality, but small portions considering the €18 price tag for a plate of polenta and venison. I wouldn't return.

We stopped at this restaurant today, August 11, 2025, after touring Lake Delio. We asked if they had room for four people, and the elderly lady waiting tables asked if we had made reservations. When we said no, she rudely replied that there was no room, and continued to mutter, "These people who show up without reservations—what a bad habit!" in a rude manner. We told her that this wasn't the way to do things, and we left. How disappointing! We live in the province of Varese, and this isn't the way to welcome tourists. I pointed out that the tables were empty; none of them had "reserved" written on them. They clearly didn't feel like cooking; they didn't even ask what we wanted (a platter would have sufficed!). Good manners are key; we won't be returning, even though we're local. Not recommended!

The best thing about it, unfortunately, is the view of the lake. After a 40-minute wait, I was finally able to order. The service was anything but attentive and friendly. My table neighbors only wanted drinks and, after several attempts to order, were rudely told to order their drinks inside... with the comment, "You should reserve in advance"... anyway... the view was sensational, the drink fresh and cold... but the reheated lasagna – see photo – was lukewarm to cold, bone dry to the point of being burnt and tasteless. If I hadn't been so hungry after a long hike, I wouldn't have touched the food at all, because it already looked unappetizing when it was brought out. My neighbor's sausage and cheese platter looked considerably better and apparently tasted good too. If I come back, it will only be for a drink... such a shame, because the location would otherwise be lovely.
