Aldana's Mexican Grill

Visited today after seeing a post on Instagram. It was close to home. The server was great but my food came out waaaay before the rest of my table food did. So I waited to eat and food was cold by the time their food came. I got the fajitas steak. Very filling. Of course I had a fully carry out box cause I could only eat 1. The Margaritas are strong and huge. It was crowded and tight but the food and everything else made it a great experience. I will be back!!

What a hidden gem 💎 of the area this place is! Interior is amazing, outside seating area is lovely and there are heaters adding to the ambiance! It was beautiful around sunset 🌅 We got their nachos, tacos 🌮 and house corn 🌽 and everything was delicious 😋 finger-licking delicious actually! Our favorite tacos were the ones with pineapple 🍍 pulled pork and beef! And of course, service was quick and friendly!! loved it!! Will be coming back!

Excellent friendly service serving good Mexican food in a nicely decorated space. There is a small patio and plenty of seats inside. We went for brunch and I got the breakfast burrito which I loved. There was a small breakfast menu for 11am-3pm. Our waitress was great and entertaining. I would definitely go back.

Visited this place yesterday around 9ish . Well the ambience is great , good work done on interiors with all small details . We were served nachos while we waited for our food. I ordered fish tacos ( amazingly delicious ) , my husband had Aldana special burrito ( with was okayish ). Then had to try the margarita , so ordered Maria’s favourite margarita which was actually great. We had tres leches for takeaway and it was so yummy and on the point . Amazing but I feel it’s quite on expensive side

The burrito I got was huge! Enough for 2 meals. The salsa was really good and I love the seasoned tortilla chips. The decor is fantastic and even some of the glasses they use for drinks are unique, it has an upbeat and bright vibe and even though it was busy it wasn’t too loud for us to talk. Will definitely be back! Service was great

very pretty restaurant, service is great. I loved it. The outdoor looks very pretty too. Food is a bit pricey than other Mexican restaurants, but definitely a nice restaurant. Food is great too. Recommend!

We love Aldana! My gf and I typically sit at the bar but we have also had small tables/large tables and the service and experience is always the same - excellent. We love the chimi's and enchiladas but all of the dishes are great. Great people and always a fun atmosphere.

Some of the best and most authentic tasting Mexican food! The guacamole and flautas de Pollo are a must try!!! There is a reason why they are listed on the menu as restaurant faves! You won't be disappointed! Decor is beautiful and great service! Margaritas are huge, and to top it all off, the place is always clean! Including the bathroom, which is VERY important! So, if you are in Troy, Michigan, be sure to stop by! UPDATE: Picked up carry-out from here. Had never done that, and I am happy to say that the carry-out was just as good and flavorful as dining in! The street tacos and Enchiladas Rojas reheated very well! It's still a fave and top spot for Mexican food!

I was looking for a new place to eat, and this popped up as a suggestion. They must be paying for sponsored ads because I was not even searching for Mexican food. But here we are glad it suggested it to me. This is not that far from my place. But I am happy it did. This place is fantastic. My server Shannon was pretty awesome as well. I asked her what was good here and she suggested the flautas. And then she asked me if I like fried food. I was like do I look like a guy that turns down fried food. Of course, they were incredible. I ended up ordering dessert Apple empanadas with vanilla ice cream. So good. I liked the added touch that the owner stopped by to check in on how my food was. The only reason why I knew he was the owner is because someone posted a picture on Yelp stating it was the owner. I will be coming back.

This is a great place to grab a bit to eat. The customer service was awesome, friendly and the decor is amazing; very inviting. The chips and salsa rock! I had potato chimichangas and was not let down, very good. They are very clean and organized with lots of seating and bar. Parking is easy to get and easy in and out. Nice Job Aldana.

Beautiful, well designed venue, unique design and decorations. The server was friendly and accurate. The food was very good. One issue is that one of the chairs my party was sitting in came apart while being used. I saw a really cool Monster Margarita glass for another table. Beera are mostly Mexican, this is a Mexican food restaurant, no doubt. I love the atmosphere, it did get a bit loud in the restaurant even though the place was not packed, I think this is because of the ccousticsnof the place. I liked the food . The have an outdoor area as well

First time visiting this delicious place. One of the best Mexican places in town. I really enjoyed the nachos, tacos and the corn. Free chips and salsa is always a great bonus. Staff was super friendly and the place was very clean.

A hidden gem in the corner of Somerset Plaza. Ordered the cheese enchiladas and they were some of the best we have ordered anywhere. Plate presentation was wonderful and although we came at lunchtime and it was not crowded, the service was excellent. We live 30 minutes away from here and yet we will be back again. We have been to MANY Mexican restaurants and this one is at the top of our list for food and atmosphere.

Food was amazing. We ordered Togo. Fajitas were missing shells. Definitely would dine here again but check bag next time.

Wonderful atmosphere. It was so festive and colorful and had a true Mexican flair. We enjoyed our meals and drinks. We stayed for a long time meeting with friends and we're not given looks to leave or felt unwelcome for which we were grateful. The fried ice cream was some of the best we have ever had. All of the food was delicious though. We would return.

So to edite to my earlier review. About 9 months I came back to dine again at Aldana, and as expected I was not disappointed with the food tastes or the portions size as well as the service. For sure I am coming back. 2nd and 3rd photo is from my recent visit for dinner where I ordered Chicken Fajita. Food quality was good above average type. Ordered burrito for myself and it was a lot, portions are definitely big, probably two can share if you are a light eater. Drinks and cocktails are well presented! The staff and services were 5 star. The Atmosphere is simple but whisper to come back. Would definitely dine in again!

The restaurant itself is very beautiful. It’s decorated so nice. Very vibrant and lively. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly. The day I went they were short staffed so it took longer to get our drinks and our bill but the food came out very quickly once the order was placed. In terms of food I ordered the Mexican burger, and honestly there was not a single thing Mexican about this burger. It was cheese burger with avocado on it. That being said it was delicious. Beef patty, well seasoned, great bun, and felt very fresh. But I felt really stupid for ordering a burger at a Mexican restaurant, where I wanted to try something different. I thought it was going to be more the a torta. It was served with waffle fries which were great. Crispy and well cooked. I wish those had been at least season with chili powder or something. The were still very good. My friends all ordered quesadillas which they said were fantastic. The chips and salsa served prior to food were great. The chips were seasoned, which I enjoyed and all three salsas served were nice. The salsa verde has a nice heat to it which I really enjoyed. Came back, the margaritas are fun! I would recommend trying one. They were enjoyable. It ordered a torta with al pastor and I really enjoyed it. It’s a sandwich I would order again.

I’ve been here a few times now and have enjoyed each visit. The festive atmosphere is rather inviting and takes you away. While rather tasty I’d categorize their food as an upper end Americanized Mexican food. I never get the impression that their food is just reheated, it feels quite fresh. Also I find the price points quite competitive and the lunch specials are great.

Food was delicious - and they are accomodating to allergies which is nice. Service can use improvement. I hate needing to ask for plates/silverware. Had to get our servers attention 3 times. Once to place our order, again for water, and lastly to get our check. I had to actually go look for the server. Didn't get checked on once. We'll definitely give it another go, as once we got our food, we were very happy with it.

First time dining at Aldana. They have a wide variety of delicious Mexican style food and numerous drink options. The margarita options are great and vary by price according to your tastes.

My husband and I stopped in after a brief trip to home depot and target. We were seated fast and chips came out hot and ready. I ordered what my waiterJeff recommended, chimichanga and hubby ordered 4 different corn tacos. The food was tasty and in large portions. We were full fast and had plenty of leftovers for the road. We no longer need to travel to southwest Detroit for great Mexican cuisine...it's right here in our neighborhood. We definitely recommend you try this place!

Walked right in on a Thursday night. Service could be quicker! Waited for basically everything. The food however, was top teir! Fajitas we very tasty and seasoned perfectly and the Quesadilla Barria Tacos could not have been better. Seriously impressed with the food. Even the complimentary chips were great with 3 salsa options. The tab was quite high for Mexican cuisine, but for that quality I will not complain and gladly be back!

The food was really good and the service was great. A little pricey though for for Mexican fare. The tables are a bit odd, with large metal legs that make it awkward to sit on some ends, and this was the case even on the high tops. Unique decor in general, and very busy.

Had dinner yesterday (Tuesday)@5:00. Restaurant was not crowded & the service was fast. I ordered a bowl of chicken tortilla soup & it came out piping hot the way I like it. It was tasty & it came with a side of sour cream. The atmosphere was festive. It was an enjoyable dining experience.

I ordered the taco locos; which is made with beef in a crispy shell like an empanada. No cheese. My wife ordered the shrimp taco. She enjoyed it, hmmmm ended up eating the whole thing. Which is very rare for her to finish the whole meal. Oh I almost forgot. We split a house margarita . It looked beautiful when it was brought out to us by Shell our waitress, now I say don’t waste your time with it. Just get a shot or just some water and lemon would do.

I went into AldanAs twice! Once to dine in and once to pick up a to go order. During our dine in experience we had to ask for side plates and cutlery. We had to ask for salsa twice before we got it. Etc. when I came in for a to go order on my lunch break, they maybe had 3 tables to tend to, but I was waiting for 30-40 minutes. The place was empty and I still had to wait. I was late going back to work just waiting for my food. The food is great just be prepared for the not so great service.

Valentines Day 2026: The restaurant itself was clean and not too busy but just busy enough for most of the seats to be occupied. There were quite a few smiling faces so I'm guessing the atmosphere was at best a positive one. My childhood friend of over 40+ years agreed to meet me here because we both wanted authentic Mexican food and since we hadn't seen each other in years, we agreed to be one another's valentine. She ordered shrimp quesadillas and a strawberry daiquiri.. I opted for a glass of water to wash down the fried ice cream and Horchata, because you know, 53 years old and all that dairy lol. She ate her food and I mine so its easily understood that the food was good. Well, she says hers was okay. Lol. So... there was only one problem with our visit here. I don't know if it's because we're not "regulars" or if it was something else, but the man who served and waited on us was "too attentive." And to be sure it wasnt me, I observed his interactions with everyone else. He had an obsessive need to ask us if we was ok or needed anything else, which kinda bordered on the line of something other bigger than being overly attentive. And the place is small/cozy enough to see all around so I could see that he wasn't doing that to anyone else. I just say this: The food was nice. The atmosphere seemed nice. But that dude needs to work on his serving style. I told my friend that im willing to go back another day just be sure it wasn't a one off situation or something. Otherwise I'll find somewhere else to go. If it's better I'll give a better rating/review as well. Overall, its worth it to try it for yourself.

Food was fine but HUGE portions. Three of us ordered fajitas but a small square table wasn't nearly big enough to hold all the food. Serving was extremely crowded and awkward to eat because there was no place to put everything. Service was very good and atmosphere was colorful and cute!

This place has a great ambiance. It is very clean. The food was not good. Our server was not pleasing at all. They over charged my daughter and son in law. It was my birthday and they did, however, sing happy birthday, which was nice but, unfortunately, due to the treatment of the bill and charging for a five month grandchild and two year old who did not eat anything and with the chips and salsa being gross, we decided to never return. My favorite food is authentic Mexican food and it was disgusting. I had to make the best of a poor effort experience. Looking back on it, I can't say I'd do anything different. I do not recommend it.

Great service by Sam, but could not make up for the misses on the food or the absolute worst host I have ever encountered. The chile rellenos (one) was mostly batter. The signature wet burrito had almost no sauce, and inexplicably came with potato chips, even though the menu said all entrees came with rice and beans. I’ve heard lots of good things about this place, but I’m wondering why. I can make better burritos and rellenos myself.

For anyone who cares about such things: Chips are chunky and taste stale. Salsas are all spicy, even the mild, but two are more spicy. Like everyone else complained, the enchiladas has no sauce. Instead of sauce they were under a, layer of cheese. Nothing had any flavor, beans, rice or dish. Might want to bring your own salt and pepper even. The chicken was dry. Beef was bland.

First impressions, we went on a Tuesday night at 8pm….the service is severely lacking!! The hostess took awhile to seat us, we sat at our table for over 5 minutes and no one approached us or even acknowledged us. We got up and moved to the bar thinking we would get better service because there were only 3 other people sitting up there. The bar tender didn’t acknowledge us, continued making drinks, got the other people at the bar to go boxes and their bill, but didn’t even look at us. We sat there for another 5 minutes and were about to leave when he finally asked if we wanted a drink. I got a “skinny” margarita and my friend got a Corona. Both were good enough. My margarita was probably a 3.5/5. Free chips and salsa were 2.5/5. Chips were cold, no flavor and taste like they come from a bag. Not homemade. We ordered the dip trio with guacamole, queso and elote poblano queso. Guacamole was 4/5, elote poblano queso was 3.5/5 and the plain queso was 0/5. The plain queso was basically inedible, it has a weird flavor that kinda tastes like it is powdered or something. We didn’t eat any of it and I LOVE queso. For dinner we ordered chicken fajitas and birria tacos. I order birria tacos everywhere I go. These were probably 3.5/5. They were good, but not amazing. I wish the consommé had more flavor. The meat was juicy. The rice and beans had no flavor. The chicken fajitas were 4/5. The meat was juicy and had good flavor, plus it was a big portion. The restaurant is extremely loud and noisy, it was more tolerable at the bar, but we couldn’t hear each other talk at the tables. Overall I was less than impressed with the service and the food, so we will not be back. I would not recommend this place to anyone, there are much better Mexican restaurants in the area.

Great ambiance, great service, but not so great food to match that. The Wet burrito barely had any sauce on it. The rice or beans were average. You will find a lot better food for the price. Margaritas were average. The best thing about the place is Mariachi hat birthday celebration. It adds a unique feel to it. That's the only reason for 2 stars. Otherwise, don't spend money here for the food.

Food was tasty, prices are slightly overpriced, but the service was TERRIBLE. My fiancé and I went today hoping for a great experience, but left disappointed. We felt like we got bare minimum service. Our server (didn't catch his name, just know he had a short hair cut and a jersey) seemed like he didnt want to really stop by our table. When it came time for the check, it was like he almost threw our change back, and said nothing to us. Not a "Thanks for coming in, have a nice day" or anything. Honestly, we felt stereotyped because other tables received so much more attention than we did. So yeah...the food was actually tasty. Portion size was good, prices are a little pricey, but bad service. I would have rather gone to El Patio on 12 Mile Rd.

The steak fajitas are overpriced, their staff is also very unprofessional. The staff name called my mother for sharing her thoughts to them about their pricing (privately mind you). Don’t waste your hard earned money here. Same quality steak fajitas for cheaper at other local places. If I could give this establishment a negative rating I would. This place needs a lesson in hospitality!

At the end of the day.. nothing is worth going to this place just to over pay. $26 for Pozole.. $20 for burritos.. LMAO.. just put a sign on yourself that says "I'm With Stupid" listen the food was good, service was fine, environment was fine. But there's a ton of really good places that serve mexican at a significantly lower price.. that's as good or better. However if your uppity... by all means throw your money out the door & enjoy.

Very poor experience. The service was very very slow and the food was Ok not super good but not bad either just plain Ok. Not worthwhile the time spend there waiting for a fork or a spoon or anything you might need during your meal. Do not recommend the visit.

According to the blonde server, it is “against the law” to accept a non expired out of state ID that is vertical. Legally, the date of birth on the ID is what matters for age-restricted activities like buying alcohol — not whether the card is vertical or horizontal. They said that if they served us they would risk “losing their liquor license at all of their locations” In Michigan, liquor licenses are issued to individual businesses at specific locations — not one license that automatically covers all your company’s locations. When we informed the server that they were incorrect about the laws, they then said it was just store policy. Spoke to the manager after who verified the ID was real and offered to serve us herself. They stated that it is not the store policy and knew exactly what sever it was without us even mentioning their name. Due to the rude attitude of the blonde server we just left. We have been here serval times in the past with no issues. Due to the rudeness of the server however we won’t be returning until this server is gone. (The blonde server was also training someone so that’s concerning) We asked the manager to educate her on the actual liquor laws in Michigan. You can deny someone service, but you shouldn’t do so with incorrect laws and made up store policies which were confirmed by the manager to be false. The manager was super nice!

On 12/31/2025 This restaurant was highly recommended from a TikTok blogger and how everything was so great as while as there margarita flights. My daughter, her good friend and myself decided to dine there but before doing so, I called and asking about the restaurant hrs and was this the restaurant on TikTok the reply was yes and I inform the person we will be there soon with excitement. We arrived it was a pleasant view and was crowded with a lot of people starring noticing that we were the black people there. I continued to walk where the greater wanted us to be seated. It took 13 minutes for this waitress to service us she never told us her name but later received it from her supervisor/manager and her name was Chelsea. Chelsea didn't seem pleasant or welcoming at all but I look pass that until I began to notice her actions. Chelsea then ask was we ready to order anything besides water, the reply was yes and we order a total of 3 Margaret flights. In the mean time two couples sat down order and received there drinks and appetizers 20 minutes went by no Chelsea instead she was servicing other dinners. When Chelsea notice we where looking at her, she decided to then go to the bar and inform the barmaid to make our drinks. 6 minutes went by Chelsea bring use our drinks left and didn't return until another 10 mins to take our order. 3 min passes and another couple was seated orders were place food was received and I questioned Chelsea why we have not received our food? She came with poor excuses of reasons why our food wasn't ready. In the mean time I'm feeling discriminated because everyone that came in after us was service, paid their bill and left. We are still seating with these Margaret's with no food and refuse to take another sip because I didn't eat nothing and didn't want to get sick and throwing up every where then everyone would have had something to talk about. What I didn't understand is why did the manager allow this unprofessional waitress to continued to service us after admitting to us that she seen what Chelsea was doing and placing our orders one at a time, notice that we wait over 30 mins when my daughter and her friend received the chicken wings. I had to then correct the manager it was over an hour and 35 mins and I have yet to get my food. Before that Chelsea didn't like the fact that my daughter and her friend didn't like the Margaret flight and they wanted 2 regular Margaret instead. 10 minutes went by Chelsea brings the Margaret's in different glasses that wasn't like everyone else's and both ended up having headaches later that night from those drinks which I personally would not have drink because everything about the drinks was suspicious. I was so upset I ended up going the restroom, return back to the table and seen this lady trying to give my daughter a hard time base on the lie Chelsea told to her supervisor/manager and me telling the exact true and told her to read the room. We were the only one that did get good service. My daughter still paid for the food which was 2 birria tacos 🌮 meals when I told her not to and did anyway and the supervisor/manager was trying to make it right by bringing the hot food to her in a Togo bag. My daughter wanted me to try the food, it was a waste the meat of 3 tacos were dry 1/4 cup of liquid dipping sauce for 3 meat dried tacos. We will never return back there again and wouldn't recommend no one of color to dine there and should have been let go one the supervisor/manager notice what she was doing and wouldn't have been there over 1:35 minutes but then I'm not surprised I experienced this type of behavior when my daughter was 4 yrs. old at another Mexican restaurant Armandos and now again at this Aldana Mexican restaurant and my daughter is now 31. Every experience that I thought was going to be good went straight to hell where Chelsea need to go and the barmaid because she played a part in it as well. I'm just glad both my daughter and friend was OK after complaining about having a major headache after drinking those margaritas.
