Okidoki has been on my to-try list for a while. I finally dropped in for lunch recently and had a pleasant and delicious experience. There's an on-site waitlist and a Yelp waitlist. Lunch wasn't too bad a wait, but I hear dinner is busy. The menu offers plenty of classic Japanese dishes along with seasonal specials. Recommended menu items help those who can't decide. The combos also offer good value and generous portions. My most recent order was the shabu shabu beef udon and assorted tempura. I enjoyed both these dishes. The udon broth was clean and flavorful with nicely cooked in-house made udon noodles. The beef was a bit chewy but had good flavor, especially when dipped in ponzu sauce. I would upgrade to spicy if I ordered this entrée again. The assorted tempura had a nice crispy texture and didn't feel greasy. The drink menu offers sake, shochu, local and Japanese beers, sodas, lemonade, tea, and more. The happy hour menu looks great, too. I had a great lunch experience overall. The staff was kind and attentive. I didn't have to wait long for a table. The prices are fair for the quality and quantity they offer. The dining area was clean and fairly spacious. I can't wait to dine in again.

Our party of 2 went at around 11:30am on a Sunday morning and there was thankfully no wait. Lots of parking lot spots available in the lot. It was our first time here and our server kindly answered our questions. The place is on the smaller side with only mostly 2 to 4 person tables. I can see how this place can get packed so I suggest making a reservation (if they allow) or coming early. For food we ordered the Shrimp Tempura to share ($11): freshly made, crunchy batter— it was delicious. Spicy Beef Udon ($21): absolutely loved this dish plus you can pay more to choose up to 3 levels of spice (extra $1.50 for each level). I love spicy food and opted for level 2 since it was my first time here and it was perfect for me. Served with the cheesy risotto ball meant to put in the soup after you’ve finished the noodles. It was the perfect dish after a night of drinking (haha). Wish I lived closer because I would definitely come back!

Our first time yesterday. Looks like we found a new favorite takoyaki spot for us. Favorites are: Takoyaki Katsu Soba Curry Update: We’ve come back to try more. We will be coming often. 😋

Katsu Udon with curry sauce is thick and tasty. The pork chop is tender and not oily. Waiter is friendly and efficient. Price is reasonable.

First of all this place has a great customer service, they greet you as soon as you walk in and as soon as you walk out. Honestly it's kinda pricey but it's worth it. Very clean place and they have one of best spicy beef noodles soup out there. Try the rice ball in the soup and some good sushi. There used to have outdoor dining but o didn't see that anymore. Try their good selection of drinks and if you want something sweet they offer good diversity of teriyaki and bentos. They also have great desserts and ice cream. So if you're I'm town or just want to enjoy a good Japanese cuisine then this is the place.

The food was so good! We were a party of 6, 4 adults, 2 kids. We had to wait about 30 mins to be seated on a Saturday night. We order some food right away and it came out really fast. I definitely recommend this place. Even the kids liked it! Great place to eat.

We were in the area for the surf shop and wanted to grab dinner. This was a few doors down and had a 5 star on Google so we have it a try. They have earned every star and I agree with them. Our waiters were fast, friendly and entertaining. They cracked a few jokes and made the meal fun. We ordered a few rolls, the fried chicken and a ramen. I was having trouble taking pictures fast enough because everyone was eating quickly. Will definitely come back!

Absolutely amazing. Bar side dinner experience was one of the best I had. Ask for Ben Sato (or Soto...). He is amazing in his taste for food and omakase. Definitely give the crackling rice soup a try and same with the udon. Ask the sushi chef which he recommends because he may know what will finish your meal the best.

We’re big fans of Meiji Seimen so I was excited to find out they had a second location closer to us! I got the tororo mentaiko udon on a hot day and it hit the spot. Delicious noodles and fresh ingredients. The tempura was also wonderful. Also a big plus that you can reserve seats for lunch! We’ll be back.

If you ask me what I’m craving I will always say sushi and a hot broth. Oki doki by meiji in Tustin is the perfect spot where you can start off with a fresh salmon cucumber roll and end with a piping hot udon. Their shabu shabu udon comes with perfectly cooked udon noodles and a generous amount of the most tender beef belly. The broth is also a beautiful balance of sweet and savory. Follow me on IG@Waitfoodfirst for more food recs!

I love the grilled squid. The grilled squid is served with mayo sauce to dip in and this is something you should try here. Also, I found their sushi is very good. This isn't one of those ones you can find any Japanese restaurant her in California but more like the one you can have in Japan.

The food here is amazing. Their sushi quality is great compared to other similar restaurants and their noodles are superb. It can be pretty busy during the night but it is still an amazing place. Great service and great prices for what you get. d^^b

I traveled from Bay Area for the weekend. Wanted to go Honda Ya. But it was two hour wait. So I decided to come here instead. I just ordered Asahi for start. It was the best Asahi I had in long time. We can drink Asahi anywhere but this place pours the best pint of beer. You have to taste it to see what I mean. The surprise did not end there. We ordered Valentine special sushi. The quality was superb. I could easily pay $300 for the quality in the Bay Area for me and my lady AND Still could not be satisfied. But the bill was 1/3 of the Bay Area. We were stuffed and satisfied. I was happy. Good Quality.. the quality was amazing and totally reminded me of real taste of Japan. I will definitely go back again.

While there's certainly fancier Japanese food in OC, this is great value for what you're paying and a wide selection that'll suit multiple palates. Portions of meat (in beef udon, chicken karaage, and other dishes) are usually generous, and they have Asahi on draft!

Great food & service. Interesting menu full of foodie delights - loved the beef tongue jerky. Entree & appetizer specialties change seasonally. Special lunch menu. Great soba & udon choices. Real authentic feel to the place - always feel like its a special meal.

What a welcoming restaurant! The vibe is positive from the moment you walk in. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is smiling. The Spicy Beef Udon is my personal favorite as well as the lemon salmon. The black sesame house made ice cream is like nothing you have ever tasted.

Oki Doki is a Japanese with a bit of Korean flair! Amazing entrees, food quality is beyond belief! The staff and chefs provide some of the best cultural food selections period. I've had Japanese cuisine often, and if your looking for a taste of Japan, look no further. This place has it all. The fried crab with sushi rolls are absolutely amazing as of prepared by the emperor's very own chef. Prices are what you expect, but you'll find yourself dipping into your pocket book to keep trying all the food selections. Fried banana with homemade ice cream is a must for dessert, and the albacore Sushemi with fried garlic and onion chips is exquisite! Small but cozy atmosphere perfect for dates and on Friday and Saturday from 8pm till closing draft beer is $1 right!?! The store in which from when you order till the food is Infront of you is faster than fast food! Overall there is literally no complaints with this place, go enjoy and let your taste buds do the exploring!

A small hole in the wall restaurant in the same plaza as Gen kbbq. I ordered the curry udon and it was amazing. It wasn't one of those add a curry roux cube and mix with dashi stock type of soups. This was a curry soup that was complex and had a little spice to it. The noodles also seemed like they were made there. They were just a little thicker than what I've seen as other places but, it was great. Over all, I would highly recommend coming here!

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants. It's been a while between my last visits, but I think they're under new management or revamping the place. Bigger menu and more happy hour specials from what I saw. I usually get a bento box and I think there was less teriyaki chicken in mine than last time. Still, really great food and definitely one of my favorites. Parking is a bummer, which is not the restaurants fault obviously, just plan to get there early or you may have to park way far.

One of my resolutions for this year was to get more social and less media. I've been in the usual rut of going to the same places, but wanted to get out of my comfort zone to explore new places. This has been on the list to try and so happy we found our way in. Girl's night out brought us gift exchanges over shared oden, chu-hai cocktails and lots of stories as I re-connected with my gal pals. We decided on coming here over other places because they offered Yelp wait list, which we hopped on 15 minutes after they opened. There was already a decent list and we were 9th in line. We arrived around 6pm to check in and waited about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. As we looked at the menu, chu hai with fresh squeeze citrus and oden caught our attention. So, first order of business was to tally up our selections and we got 2 grapefruit and 1 orange chi-hai. Super refreshing! The oden is limited with one of them items not available, but otherwise, everything was great! We got 3 daikon, acorn jelly, egg and chikuwa (fish cake). The hot broth combined with the delicate selections warmed us up to the rest of the menu. I ended up settling on an Eel & Avocado roll & Salmon Sushi. My friends got the Nabeyaki and Sashimi Bento box. We also got an order of some starter my friend raves about. It complemented our drinks with a mix of lightly seasoned root vegetables. Unlike your typical izakaya where you can hang around for a bit, the popularity of place gathers a wait list, so if you're done and paid, they may kindly ask you to leave for other patrons. We finished up our drinks and then made our way out, which ended up taking us to a cafe nearby where the night carried on with more stories. Overall, dinner was very filling and heart was full. I would definitely like to try them again during lunch since they had a lot of specials. Until next time!

Where to start..... the food is excellent, and the service is attentive. I have been there a hand full of times and each time I visit I have a good time. I have notice the staff working very hard to offer the best experience for dinning. Takashi, the executive chef, can make anything. I LOVE his Cooking. Hiro, the Sous chef, has an eye to detail and he will flavor your food to your liking, as Haruka, the manager, will makes sure your glass is full. What can I say......... I like the place...... and I think you will as well. Cheers and Happy Saturday !

I brought my niece & nephew for the first time. We all enjoyed the food and they commented about the friendly staff. We ordered a bento box, California rolls & Salmon/lemon rolls and shared it all. They really enjoyed trying everything in the bento box. Many items were new to them, but they tried & liked it all. Im sure they will request to return to Oki Doki next time they visit with me.

My son was here with another family and came home raving about it. So we took them back for my teen boys’ birthday. Very good service, happy pleasant waitstaff, comfortable atmosphere. Everything was very good and a very good variety of food options. A little on the higher side cost wise but good value for money. And their homemade ice creams are amazing, very unusual subtle flavors.

N

I had the grilled mackerel and vegetable sushi roll. The green tea was steeped perfectly. The fish was perfect and very tasty. The only think I would change is that the veggie roll was mainly just cucumber, there was very little of anything else. The prices were very affordable and reasonable tho, I will definitely be going back!

Very authentic, delicious, fresh, incredible sushi. You must come here and try. The chefs special is amazing. If you can do the 10pc I recommend it. The best in my opinion is the OTORO W/ TRUFFLE. Simply incredible! The spicy beef Udon is remarkable! Perfect noodles, rich delicious flavor. The rice at the end you can mix in to create a risotto type finisher that will leave you salivating even though you'll be full. The crispy rice soup is also very very good, fresh ingredients, rich flavor, clean delicious tasting shrimp, very good. If you've been spoiled by sushi in Japan and struggled to find good sushi in California, this.... this is your place. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this gem.

This is one of my favorite places for udon! The broth and noodles were both perfect. We got here a little after 6:00 pm on a Saturday night and waited 30 minutes to be seated off their wait list. Service was timely and helpful, and there's plenty of parking in the lot. Will definitely be back.

As a half Japanese person, its hard to find authentic Japanese places in OC. This is one of the few I've found and the taste is just right! The shabu shabu udon was delicious, the meat was very tender and the broth has that familiar Japanese taste from the dashi and I still think about it to this day :) The place is a bit small and the wait line can reach up to 90min during peak hours. So I recommend going for an early dinner! The staff is super nice and quick, even when they are busy! Keep up the good work!!

J
Jessica C

We ordered the shabu shabu udon and Sashimi. Both were great. Their Udon and Soba are homemade. The store is like a typical Japanese restaurant that is kind of small and not a lot of space between each table. The service is just okay, probably because they were busy so they didn’t come asking if we need more water or so. Be prepared to wait around 10-20mins for table if you didn’t book a table via Yelp ahead of time.

Our family and friends love to eat here! Chef/owner and Okie Dokie Restaurant team makes this Japanese restaurant in Tustin so special and welcoming in our community! A regular customer for many years, and always a joy to be back. Everything on the menu is so delicious and the flavors authentic. Restaurant was newly renovated and looks bright and clean! We like the comfortable ambiance and pub food menu. Highly recommend their handmade noodles! The soba and Nebayaki udon is always a personal favorite to order. The udon noodles are so chewy and cooked just right. The broth is hot and rich in flavor. Also recommend ordering a side dish like Gyoza 🥟 , fried octopus, grilled squid, and/or one of their popular sushi/rolls. Always pairs well with the noodle dishes. We will definitely be back again soon! 👍🤩😍🙌🏼

I absolutely love this place. It has the best sushi in Tustin. The restaurant is small, but the staff is attentive, and the food is always fresh and prepared with skill and care. Every time I come I try to get something new. I have yet to be disappointed. My absolute favorite is the salmon skin rolls. Do yourself a favor and try them. Top everything off with their special ice creams, and a Japanese beer. The price is right, and the food and service are above par.

So I've always loved this place. The staff are so warm and welcoming to me and my toddler. 90% of the time we come here when hubs has boy's night, so it's just me and this crazy kid. Tonight the waitress recommended the spicy beef udon with fried rice cheese ball. I changed my mind like three times because I wasn't sure about the flame on the table with the toddler. In the end, I swapped last minute, she ran to the back and about 5 minutes later the meal was on the table. This was so amazing! At the end you put the rice ball into the pot and smush it up! I've been here a dozen times and I'm having big regrets that I'm just now giving the udon a shot. I've been missing out, and so have you if you haven't tried it! Bonus: no one complains when my kid plays with the chop sticks, straw, wet naps (or steals them off the table next to us), a ball he brings in, washi tape on the table. My toddler loves the sweet potato. When he's hungry the food comes out so fast. They bring him milk with a straw. We go say hi to the sushi chef every time we're there and the kiddo is just fascinated. And it's just such a cozy Japanese vibe. Not as small as the alley style Japanese restaurants in Tokyo but still manages to capture that vibe with screens between the tables throughout. I love this place and the staff!

I like this place, i got the sukiyaki beef bowl with curry and a poach egg. The taste mix well together and it so gooooood. The price is nice for such a good meal. I be revisiting and trying out other food. Definitely worth it to go again multiple time. I also order the black sesame pudding, it taste with a noticable black sesame aroma and flavor. It a simple desert but i like it.

Definitely one of our favorite sushi restaurants in Tustin. We have been coming here for years. Things have changed there's no longer a bar but they've added more seating. Try the sesame tofu. It's made in house at the Tustin location. **I'm hoping they bring back the sake tasting!!

It just gets so busy here! It was a 40 minute wait for a party of 10, which included kids but really worth it. The service was exceptional. They sat us, took our order, and refilled water frequently. Everything came out timely. We're a big group but they got us seated together (whereas the Costa Mesa location couldn't guarantee seating together). The guy (whose name I didn't get) was young and so nice and attentive to our group despite 3 kids lol. I got garlic beef 🔥, my husband got spicy beef 🔥, the table got assorted tempura, crab roll, and karaage. All great. The meal was hot and everything was honestly so good. This was my birthday celebration so I had the BEST experience. Meiji exceeded my expectations.

Seems like okay place to get your japanese/udon fix but otherwise, just okay for a premium price. Beef udon: Maybe? We went here and got a beef udon bowl to share. We got the upsize or extra noodles and it was actually not bad in terms of size for 2. The taste was just okay though. Not too flavorful or unique in any way. Since we shared I was okay with this because I just wanted a noodle fix lol Food: 6/10 Service: 7/10 Atmosphere: 6/10 Value: 5/10

I’ve been dining at Okidoki for years now and finally got around to writing a review. The restaurant is located in a plaza at the corner of Newport Avenue and Main Street across the street from the Tustin Library and City Hall. It’s located a few doors down from what used to be Soup Plantation (sniff, sniff, sob, sob). Okidoki’s menu serves up everything from appetizers, salads, side dishes, udon, soba, ramen, small rice bowls and sushi rolls to homemade desserts. On this visit we started with their fried chicken which was a light and crispy appetizer. Up next was the small salmon bowl which was both fresh and delicious. The only miss was the Nabeyaki Udon which to be honest was nothing special. If this is your go-to entree, I recommend going around the corner and trying it at Honda-Ya. Okidoki is a popular spot and seating is limited, so expect a wait if you’re visiting during peak hours!

Stopped by Okidoki by Meiji and ended up with about a 30 minute wait, which was expected. Luckily, the plaza has plenty of shops and spots to wander around, so the wait didn’t feel too long. Once we were seated, service moved quickly and we ordered right away. We shared an assortment of udon and soba, along with the daily special of grilled squid, which was flavorful and nicely cooked. I wished it was grilled with some salt or if it was lightly marinated. I ordered the large beef shabu shabu udon, which never disappoints. The broth was comforting and savory, the beef was tender, and the noodles were perfectly al dente, just how udon should be. It hit the spot and fully satisfied my craving. Overall, consistent food quality, efficient service once seated, and a reliable place for Japanese noodles. I will definitely be back, especially when the udon craving hits again.

We tried a little bit of everything—beef curry udon, pork shabu shabu, spicy beef udon, katsu curry udon, and to top it all off, the caramel flan. Let me tell you, the fresh udon noodles were next-level, and the broth flavors were on point! The flan? So moist and perfectly sweet. If you love udon or just want some comforting Japanese flavors, this spot is a must-try! 🍜🔥

Almost everything was good, especially the scallop sashimi and the bbq beef bowl. However, the rolls were not great, a little bit messy and the ingredients were imbalanced. Still good value and tasty, but could be better.

Cute cozy spot to eat. We were greeted by the staff when we entered and was promptly seated. We wanted to order fried squid but they ran out so we had the salmon skin salad instead which was delicious. My bro finished his nabeyaki udon. The only picture I had was my fiance's spicy beef udon which came with a rice ball. It wasn't really spicy but did have a good flavor. We also ordered a california roll even though it was kind of on the pricy side. We'd definitely come back again to try other items on the menu. It's also convenient that 7 leaves is in the same plaza if you have room for drinks after eating

I came here for the first time on a Friday night around 8:30 and the wait was less than 30 minutes. We originally wanted to go to Honda-ya but this place was a much shorter wait. The location is inside a large shopping center so there is plenty of parking. This is is pretty small and seems like it's busy all the time so be ready to be tightly packed in with everyone else. The front desk people were really nice and friendly. There was two of us and we ordered the Japanese bbq beef bowl, classic udon, a house salad, grilled squid and the eel and avocado roll. My favorite was the japanese beef bowl because the beef was so tender and flavor was perfect. My only thing was you get 6 pieces of steak and I wanted more! The grilled squid was really good too and they make their own dipping sauce. The udon was actually better than expected because the broth was so flavorful. Salad is a salad but big enough to share. And eel avocado roll was pretty good as well. All in all I was really happy with this place because the food was probably better than Honda-ya but you are also paying for it as well. But prices have gone up everywhere so not sure if other places have raised their prices this much as well. For two of us with no drinks, the bill came out to about $75.

The food here is good. The thing I like about this place is that they are open late. Service is very friendly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that we got a bowl of soup (udon) and sushi bento box and our bill was close to 50 bucks. It's a little pricey but the servings are generous and the food is good.

This place is not bad. It is worth going to if you are impatient like me and don't want to wait for Honda. We ordered too many items and ran the bill up, but I think the prices are reasonable. The yakitori items were below average though, there is another alternative place in Tustin that is better. They have a large menu and you could take many visits to decipher the better items. The waitress was basically useless to direct us to their better offerings.

Used to be one of my favorites because of good service and food quality but not anymore. The prices have increased tremendously, e.g. the Sashimi (Chirashi) bowl is now $24 with only a few (5 - 6) thinly sliced fish and a shrimp, $5 for a side french fries, beef bowl (Gyu Don) had little beef for $13 (you can get double the qty for half the price at Yoshinoya that tastes better too), etc. A few items are still reasonably priced including beer that is inexpensive. Service is still good and attentive.

Fast seating at around 8pm on a Thursday night. Would recommend the karage, very crispy and juicy. Food came out 10-15 minutes after ordering on a moderately busy night and pricing is what you would expect out of an izakaya.

Solid food, decent selection, and good prices. Parking is extremely hard to find during peak hours, it took me 20+ min to find parking in the plaza. Go early when it’s non peak hours.

Early bird dinner bentos are an excellent deal. Their sizzling rice soup and ramen, while not remarkable, always hit the spot as well. The service can be slow, as it gets pretty crowded, but I sense they're trying their best, they just need some more organization and guidance. Overall, a solid spot for Japanese food where safe and adventurous eaters will be able to find something delicious at their desired process point.

Got the sukiyaki udon and it was light, filling, and incredibly delicious; I also got the eel rice bowl but that wasn't very good - other places I've gone to that had eel were much more delicious with it. Nice and calm Japanese restaurant, I recommend this place.

I haven’t been here in a while. If I’m not mistaken, this is the place I used to go every two months or so to get the best omakase sushi in my region. It was so good that I remember melting on my seat and looking the chefs through that little gap that led to the kitchen and give them the thumbs up! I remember spending over $180 one night just in sashimi and stuff. Amazing! Then one day we got there, and it was no more. Now their specialty is hot dishes. I think we’ve been there twice and stopped going. I haven’t been there in 3 years I believe :( Update: thank you so much for the lovely reply. I will do my best to come back soon! You guys are great!!! 🌟

Nice little restaurant. A hidden gem. Authentic. There is always some special on the menu daily. Check out their Tuna Toro special. It's heaven. Their bento is great as well. Service might be a bit behind when they are full. Quality of fish is great.

I liked Oki Doki. It's a cozy place that offers a very good selection of Japanese food. The reason it's a good option for Japanese is because they have noodles and Sushi. Although their noodles are not the best in the are, they are good enough to have on occasion. The sushi was really good, as the fish tasted very fresh and the rolls they offered were traditional. You can ask for sahimi, hand rolls, or the more common California sushi rolls. For soup and noodle options they have Ramen, Udon, and Soba hot and cold. I've had the Ramen which was good. If you want it spicy ask for the spicy miso bomb. Overall very good place in the Tustin/ Irvine area.

Something was notably different about that Crunchy cut roll I had here... it was more delicious than most cut rolls I’ve had. The rice was super good.. and that might’ve made the roll. Ramen was solid... I had spicy miso as unfortunately they don’t have my beloved tonkotsu. Definitely get it with the extra Cha-shu pork. One thing that was a little annoying was the way the line is done. Put our names in on the tablet inside the door, but there is NO rhyme or reason how you get in- people who arrived after got in before my party, seemingly at random. A first come, first served write in list may be 19th century, but it works better. Granted there is Yelp check-in, which I could see as advantageous but kept seeing my name and party get bounced around. Inquired about it and there was no plausible explanation. A hungry customer is one that you don’t want to mess with. Definitely recommend sitting at sushi bar, as the chefs there create serious culinary works of art that one eats. Plus it gets you out of the General crowded area. In all, food is good, and service is fine. Seating methodology leaves a little room to be desired.

TLDR; too expensive for what they offer, better go to Meiji Seimen or Kin Craft izakaya. We decided to try this place after there was a long wait at our usual izakaya. Dishes were hit or miss. Here are some tips of what's good and what's not good. First of all, don't go here for sushi. We ordered salmon and tuna. For the $6.5 price tag, the fish is thinly sliced on top of a lot of rice. Not worth it at all. Fried chicken cartilage was meh. The udon and pork cutlet are good, really enjoyed it and recommend you get it if you end up coming here. The thing that got me was the bill. For 4 people we ended up paying $200 and didn't even come close in flavor to our usual spots and more expensive.

Service is nice, food is good but not so great as some reviews say. Ordered udon noodles and there was barely any meat in it, felt like I was eating flank steaks, the thin ones that you buy to make cheesesteak. Coming here for hh or sushi is good though.

We ordered the oyako don(requested-not on menu), scallops nigiri, and yellowtail/salmon bowl. Each meal comes with complimentary miso soup. But overall Food was okay, the oyakodon needed more flavor. Scallop nigiri was tasty. Servers were very attentive and helpful answering any questions.

First time eating here, and I have to say it was a bit underwhelming, and disappointing. I ordered the katsu curry Udon, and the katsu pork was very dry and tough to chew. The amount of food you get for the price was also very disappointing. Curry and Udon were pretty good though, so at least there's that...I usually eat at the Costa Mesa location and I have to say the food is much better there.

Make sure to add waitlist on yelp before you walk in!!! Trying this Oki Doki for the first time, it is located in the plaza that has Gen kBbq. The parking is not really fun. And it took us 50 minutes to get a table for 2. We ordered the spicy beef udon! I enjoy it a lot! The broth is super flavorful with really soft beef slices. After you finish the noodles, add the fried cheese ball with your soup and mix it up. The size for this bowl is not too big, and it costs $15. I extremely enjoyed it but I’m not sure if it is worth $15. The curry beef bowl is pretty plain and tastes overly sweet. They have really good sushi options, it is pretty pricy for the environment and location.

I've had two decent experiences here and, more recently, one very bad experience, maybe my worst one ever. I have detailed it below. I'll average my rating out to 2 stars for all the times I've been combined. We arrived at 7:30PM on Dec. 26th. They were understaffed and extremely disorganized. We were the last party waiting outside and I asked if we could be seated; we could see three open tables, one cleaned and two uncleaned. The waiter said it would take a few minutes to set up the table and he would seat us. Okay, fine. He places the menus on the table and sets it with napkins and utensils. And then proceeds to forget about us for ten minutes. We're staring at the clean and set table and two dirty tables, just sitting there for 10 minutes. I had to walk back inside for the waiter to remember us. A sign of things to come. They ran out of udon noodles by 7PM and did not inform the patrons waiting outside (like us) until we tried to order those dishes. Udon is half their menu and is used in some of their most popular items. Their spicy beef udon was the reason I was coming back. I realize it was the day after Christmas but it was the restaurant's decision to be open that day. They should have done the proper prep work. We were bitterly disappointed but were not dissuaded. We continued to order other items. The ramen is distinctly below average, would not recommend when there are so many good ramen places in Orange County. Grilled squid and side skirt are some of our favorites and, to their credit, were delicious. It would turn out to be the eye of the storm. At this point, the restaurant is maybe at 70% capacity. Certainly not bustling and full as it was before, service couldn't get any worse, right? Challenge accepted by Oki Doki, they would outdo themselves. It took an hour to come out with hot pot which didn't even come out hot, all ingredients and broth were cold. There was raw chicken. Every hot pot I've ever had at least comes out lukewarm. They didn't even have all the ingredients that was supposed to come with the hot pot, we had to substitute for their missing items. Wow. It came out so late that only one person in our party was left eating. The table next to us didn't even receive their food for an hour. The waiter gave the excuse that the order was inputted into the computer but never sent to the kitchen. Uh, what? Why isn't he checking with the kitchen constantly for his patrons' orders? He's probably serving four tables total at this point in the evening. Severe lack of communication between the floor and the kitchen. To add insult to injury, that table also received their check before they even got their food. Half an hour before closing time. The older female waitress told them "It's okay, take your time!" Uh, you're asking them to pay before they even have their food? The unprofessionalism was astounding. At the end of our nightmare of an evening, management thought a free dessert would assuage our anger and disappointment. No offer to comp a single item. We had lost our appetite an hour ago and could not stomach even free dessert. We just wanted our check and to be out of there ASAP. That didn't happen since it took them another ten minutes for the check. Almost everything that could have went wrong did go wrong. It makes me very sad to post this because I truly love the food at Oki Doki and would have returned at least monthly for the grilled squid, side skirt, and spicy beef udon alone. This experience will leave a bad taste in all our mouths. This review is more for the eyes of the restaurant than for other customers. I hope they see this and realize their mistakes so they can improve and other patrons will have a better time than we did.

First time trying this place. Our friends have been going for a long time, and tell us how great it is. We were really disappointed. Service was slow, and our meals didn't come out at the same time. There were six of us, and the first person was done eating by the time the last meal arrived. My daughter's udon had hair in it, so they brought her another one, after we were already finished. She asked for a to go container for it, which they brought, but dropped the bag in my soup. Didn't even offer to bring out a new bag.My teriyaki chicken bowl was barely warm and had no flavor. Sad to say, this was the first, and last, time we'll be dining here.

My daughter wanted udon for her birthday and we decided to order from this place since they are near our place and we have had food from here once before. The food is OK. Not somewhere you make a special trip for.. but decent. The problem with this place is their staff's obvious inability to manage busy times. Spent about 100 on a few bowls and some sushi rolls. The estimated prep time was 50 minutes. I put in the order through postmates and my wife went to pick it up a few minutes after postmate said the order was ready. When she arrived, the receptionist insisted that there was no order at all and refused to look at the order confirmation number I gave my wife. Finally someone from the back realized it was a postmate order... but it was not yet ready... they made her wait about 20 more minutes. My wife, was obviously concerned that the order was rushed, so she wanted to double check the order. My guess is that their receptionist was feeling very frazzled because she outright refused double check the order...insisting everything was there. Long story short the receptionist was a complete jerk to my wife because she thought she was a postmate driver. My wife is Korean so her face doesn't match her last name ... still even if she was a driver... that doesn't excuse that employees behavior. In any case. I was very disappointed with this places service. If you are in the area, you fancy a bowl of udon and its not near lunch or dinner... perfectly decent place to get some food. But don't make a special trip for this place, and know that they treat different people differently depending on their perception of you.

Poor service and table turning and the food is not that good for the wait. They saved several tables from 6:30 with reserved signs on them. When we asked, they were for 7pm reservations. There were a large number of parties forming outside. We were waiting from 6:00 and were 3rd party in the Yelp waiting list. From 6:00-6:30, 2 parties left the restaurant (2ppl, then 4ppl), and at 6:20 they seated 1 person. Another 10 minutes passed and they seated 2. We finally left at 6:50 because their response to the hour wait was that those tables were being held for 7pm reservations. Poor way to run a restaurant business if you're seating only 3 people total between 6pm and 6:40.

I haven't written any bad reviews about any places, and I'm typically able to eat food even if it's not as great as it was talked up. This place, though... The baked spicy California roll had this warm mush spread on the top that was quite bland - almost looked like "matter" smeared on top... Not spicy at all, and the roll tasted better without it. Very unappetizing and made my fiancé's stomach upset. The bento box had two decent things: the rice and the fried chicken - only barely. The chicken, however, did not look thoroughly cooked. The cabbage in the kimchi was way more sour than normal as if it was spoiled. The hard-boiled egg whites were overcooked, yolk undercooked, and was overall cold. There was a mushy, pudding-looking item that also had no flavor. With the 4 things out of the bento box that I tasted, I didn't even want to try the rest... I ate only because I was hungry and didn't want to wait for food at another place... The sushi selection is very simple. If you're expecting something like Kabuki, or other big name sushi restaurants, you're definitely not going to get it here. I can't speak on the hot foods they serve here. Hopefully those fair better than the sushi.

1. Food and service have gone down and the location has changed its menu. 2. It also almost feels as if the employees hate the change and seem miserable. 3. Avoid the sushi it’s got a fishy taste and the texture is off.

OVERPRICED!! WOULD NOT COME BACK AGAIN... We got the spicy beef udon ($21) and upgraded to the Large size for an extra $2.5. The server did not specify that upgrading to the large means adding a small side of udon noodles ONLY. The pot remains the same as the small size with NO extra soup. We asked for extra soup for the extra udon and they said that would be extra $3.... thanks for clarifying that NOT in the beginning. Now we are just eating very dry udon with barely any soup. Their reason for the large size is the same size as the small size because they don't have a bigger pot. If you don't have a bigger pot, PLEASE KINDLY SPECIFY upgrading to the large entails adding udon ONLY!! This entire experience was poor and we would not come back again. Taste wise is mediocre for the price they charge for all the items on the menu. I don't usually leave bad reviews but this place was quite something else. Way to run a business in today's market!

My plate was taken away at 2pm without asking by the waitress when I was taking care of my 4 year old, which was way before their lunch break. Pretty rude. It's hard enough to eat with young kids. I dont need this. Will not be back.
