Run here for the mini corn dogs!!! What the heck, they were so good! Great selection of beer and ciders here along with alcohol free items. Their dank salad was just ok, not enough flavor and dressing to it. The friend chicken sando and fries were good, but truly we all could not stop raving about those corn dogs. Getting that and a beer next time. Dinner is served! They had live music and the artist was amazing. Great service and vibes here!
We really enjoyed our meal here. They have a good selection of beer and wine, specifically beers that you can't find in the high desert. The food was really tasty. We both had the Grnd Sqrl burger (gluten-free free bun for her , extra gluten bun for me) with garlic parm fries. Burger was a delight. The house made pickles really help give some acidic zing to the meat! But the rotating chicken sandwich this week looked so good that we got one to go. My OH My was it stellar!!! Best late night snack I've had in a while!!! Service was above and beyond good. If you're in the area, check it out!
After a long day of hiking at Joshua Tree, we were looking for something good and popular in the area. That’s when we found GRND SQRL. As bizarre as the name sounds, it was by far one of the best meals I had on my trip to California. We started with the pretzel that was very good. For drinks we got the Sour and IPA beer. Both had great flavor. For lunch we got a delicious meal of the SQRL Burger and Korean Chicken Sandwich. Both were very flavorful, the burger was a great blend of meat. The fries were addictive and great as well. Portion sizes of the entrees were great in size. If you go to Joshua Tree this is a must!
Wonderful place with dog friendly patio in 29 Palms. Ate here twice, the salads are to die for and the decor is funky/cute. Love the squirrels in the bathroom. Woulda been solid 5's except only the first visit we were the only ones on the patio and the service was a bit hit and miss. Which although not unusual snd kinda understandable wasn't worthy of an overall 5. However everything else was wonderful.
Chose here since offered pet friendly outside patio dining. The service couldn't have been better! The food and drinks were good; loved their fries. Ordered a plain burger patty for pup and their chicken Caesar was big and tasty. Fun vibe inside and the staff were genuinely welcoming. Don't hesitate!
Literally - best food ever. We’re GF and they’re so accommodating. Honestly best gf bun on my burger that I’ve ever had. And the gf wings - felt like we were cheating and eating gluten because they were so crispy. And the truffle fries were on point! Highly recommend this place. Great servers, amazing food and vibe is super fun.
The food was delicious. The service was just ok. Not very busy there but took a bit to take our order. Waitress did not know the name of our beers she was serving us. The music was too loud to enjoy yourself. We asked if they could turn it down. They seemed put off by it. When asked about menu items we seemed to get sarcastic remarks. The food and beer was good. The atmosphere and hospitality would not make me come back again. It seemed they didn't care. It was more of an attitude that if you don't like it too bad. Unfortunate as it is a cool place and good food. This was just our honest experience.
Grnd Sqrl Twentynine Palms, California We had a great experience here at Grnd Sqrl. We always visit this area, and we were always curious about this gastro pub. People we have talked to always had a greater experience and they said everything was delicious so we decided to try it for ourselves. Upon walking in, the gastro pub looked great. It was eclectic and artfully decorated. The bar was in the middle, but there was plenty of seating all over. The music they played was great and I can see this place being a lively place during the weekend. The menu is limited, but they offer some great menu items. Besides, who wants to read an encyclopedia when you need to order. I love that their menu is small. We ordered several items, and everything was great, especially the Sqrl burger. Don't worry, it's not what your thinking lol. The burger was juicy and cooked perfectly. You can fries, but there is an additional fee. The chicken wings were great too, and they were quite large, and so was the portion. The rest of the items were great, too, especially the dessert. The staff members were great, and they really were outgoing and helpful. They weren't pushy at all. Overall, we had a fantastic dinner and will definitely return for another meal. What we ordered 1. The Stumps with a side of Parmesean Fries Smoked Pork Shoulder, BBQ Sauce, Pickled Slaw, Kosher Pickles, Spicy Mayo 2. The Sqrl Burger with a side of Parmesean Fries House ground beef patty, sharp cheddar, caramelized onions, pickles, bacon, tarragon aioli , Martin’s potato bun 3. Wings - Dozen Served tossed in Shanghai or Buffalo sauce with house made ranch and blue cheese 4. Chocolate Drop Brownie With passion fruit, caramelized walnuts, and whip cream 5. Assorted House Pickles an assortment of several pickled vegetables
A great place to stop for lunch after a hike. My family ordered burgers, chicken wing and salad with tofu. The tofu was seasoned just right and crispy. It was delicious. The icing on the cupcake was the dark chocolate brownie with passion fruit sauce. Order one or two, you will LOVE it
Overall great experience. Awesome local and regional beer selection, good burger/sandwich selection with soup & salad, excellent fries! Good patio, good vibes, really can’t go wrong here.
Sometimes the live music is too loud for such a small venue. That and the fact that they don't offer sweet potato fries (their truffle fries are too oily, imho, and I'd rather not eat white potatoes) are my only complaints/suggestions. The front of house staff is on point, especially Chelsea, and back of house knows what they're doing, too!
Small little restaurant that has a kicking menu. We got the mango habanero wings, burger, and pulled pork sandwich with a side of garlic parm fries. The wings were expertly sauced and still crispy when biting into them. They had a good size to them as well. The burger was massive and tasty! The garlic parm fries could use a little more garlic and parm but overall very tasty. If we’re ever in the area, we would for sure come back.
This is quite honestly the only local place I found that had decent gluten free options. As someone with celiac it’s so refreshing when someone not only understands what gluten is, but also is able to answer questions related to their menu. Just a heads up, their chicken sando has a GF next to it, but the worker over the phone told me that sandwich has soy sauce (aka is not GF). It only has a GF next to it because a GF bun can be used. I got a burger with nothing on it except a GF bun and it was great! If you’re adding fries (in separate fryer), I would recommend asking for less salt! Overall, I was very grateful that grnd sqrl had options for me to eat while on a work trip.
Went here after we hiked Ryan Mountain in Joshua Tree National Park. Great spot! Food was delicious, server super friendly, and the atmosphere was fab! Stop in if you get the chance - we got the hoogie, veggie burger, pulled pork and burger and all were 10/10!
A great little restaurant in the Twentynine Palms that serves some very tasty dishes with unique flavors. The menu at first glance looks rather standard but the combination of unique flavors sets this restaurant apart from many others. If you're looking for a chill little place to grab a bite to eat and a drink I'd suggest stopping by and giving it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Super tasty burgers (highly recommend the pesto chicken sando) and relaxing live music. Friendly staff and good prices, tasty beer. Perfect post hike treat in JT!
Wow! We went here twice it was soo good! (During our visit to JT NP). My photos don't do justice for The food, but I promise the flavor and quality are there. The food, best place around I feel. Def could hold its own in the Bay Area good. Hats off to the chef :)
I was kinda skeptical about coming here at first but I'm super glad that my husband chose here for lunch after church. It had pretty quick seating, great atmosphere and terrific food I'd definitely recommend going to try for yourself. Coming from a prior waitress who would do it again in a heartbeat I just wish the distresses/waitors would come around the table a couple more times. Other than that they were quick paced, very personable and polite . Definitely would and will come here again. Good job team
This place was awesome! We randomly stopped in 29 Palms for a driving break and came across this joint. What a great spot. The food and service was excellent and the vibe was buzzing. And they serve Mexican Coke, which as an Aussie, I learned is very exciting. Thanks for having us!
After a hike in JT, my husband and I stopped by grnd sqrl for “linner” (you know, late afternoon lunch/dinner). It was stellar. We had butternut squash, curry, coconut soup to start, followed by lasagna and the house salad, and they were all superlative. I wasn’t surprised to read that the chef once worked at Michelin-starred Aquavit in Manhattan. We met the owner, who was super-friendly, and the staff is happy and chatty. Don’t miss it!
The food was awesome and the beer selection was legit! The pulled pork sandwich was next level. The sweetness and acidity were perfectly balanced. 🤤 We went on a live music night, and the music volume was just right and set a nice atmosphere.
The owners have found a way to put the best craft beer selection for many miles around and incredible and interesting food together in one spot in the high desert. I only regret not living much closer. Try The Jalla. Just do it.
We had a delicious dinner here! We got a table immediately and didn’t have to wait long for our meal. We had the grilled cheese with regular fries and sqrl burger with garlic fries, both really tasty and fresh! Great service, and a fun atmosphere with live music and a wide selection of craft beers, I can recommend this place if you’re in 29 Palms!
Separate fryer for fries, gf bun, amazing drinks, and wonderful service!!!! And the flavor was excellent 😎😊 Thank you!!!!

The food was fresh and service was quick and attentive. Good selection of local micro brews on tap. Patio and indoor dining available.
Great service, good food, live music. Awesome choice if you're looking for somewhere to eat in the Joshua Tree area.
I had a really awesome dinner last night I had the beyond burger. I was so happy to see that they had regular fries that are not coated in batter. It's getting harder and harder to find those. They were setting up for some nice intimate music on the stage, It wasn't too loud people were still able to enjoy their conversations, but it added a nice ambience. This place is definitely its own vibe. I really want to mention the service! I was recently in Paris at a very high-end restaurant, I was told the service would be amazing, but I can honestly say the service last night was outstanding, better than any other place I have been in recent memory. I was greeted instantaneously when I walked through the door, and I was made to feel very welcome! sometimes as a solo female traveler, restaurants like to stick you in the back corner. The food was amazing. The service was amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. I'm very much looking forward to a return visit.
I just had a truly authentic falafel. For anyone who loves Middle Eastern food, I highly recommend it! Ivana helped me, and she was not only warm and smiling but also very attentive. Without a doubt, five high-quality stars from me. Great music and vibe too. I’m so happy I came here.
GRND SQRL is truly my favorite food in the hi desert! I haven't had a single thing I didn't enjoy, and their burger, sweet lord, is so good! French fries that surpass the legendary McDonald's fries, and rotating chicken sandwich options that are always a win. Plus, their staff is top notch. Big shout out to Dave, Brian and Dore! I'll drive from Yucca, one hour round trip, for you guys anytime!
We had a wonderful lunch at the grnd sqrl! I had the soup, mushroom and poblano, that was so flavorful with a grilled cheese sandwich. My husband had the special chicken sandwich that he is still talking about. Our server was attentive yet it felt very casual not intrusive. A great experience.

3/6/24: we (4) stopper here after our hike. Jaylin was friendly and efficient. The foods were very good, especially the fries. 1/28/23: our group (9 ppl) stopped by after a hike in the park. We arrived after the lunch rush, and were seated promptly. Friendly staffs, especially our server Katie. Food is constantly decent. I wish that they will have an outdoor seating area. Check this place out when you're in the area. 1/7/23: we stopped by after hearing from local friends. Nice service, interesting snacks and good selection of beers.
Great high desert restaurant in Twentynine. Inventive menu, great atmosphere and outstanding service. An item was left off my order, and I felt like the salad dressing wasn’t quite balanced flavor wise but the salad was still great. My dining partner had the chicken sandwich of the day (it’s a thing apparently) and she said it was very good.
We ordered a finicky coyote burger with beyond patty and the Jalla without cheese — both were good (ask for a vegan bun). They have a diverse sophisticated set of beers and good snacks, order pretzel without cheese, selection of nuts or pickles. We had some time to kill before heading to Cholla Cactus Garden for sunset and the service here was quick and efficient!
There was very good food. I got the stumps which is like pulled pork. I thought it was good but it was a little spicy for me. Our server was very nice and made sure everything went well. The atmosphere was nice, they had cool decor and live music. My only complaint is that the live music was a little loud.
Honestly, the food is what brought down my visit. I happen to be there and open Mic night. The atmosphere was great. My server was phenomenal. The food was good, but not great for the price.
Lots of gluten free options, and the gluten free burger was absolutely delicious! It might be the best GF bun I’ve had in a while. They have a separate fryer for the fries. The only downside is that it took a long time from when we ordered to when we actually got the food.
Service was great, helpful and attentive. Salad was oddly solid for being a small town brewery/bar. Beer list looked fascinating. Honestly shocked on that and the love music was about to get started. Everyone was friendly and ready to chat. The fries were the only part that wasn’t truly impressive.

I’m not sure if they intentionally over-salt the food since a lot of the customers drink alcohol or they just happened to do it this day… I ordered the Jalla burger with a gluten free bun & fries. The gf bun was actually very tasty but kinda delicate, so the burger was falling apart in every bite. I enjoyed the first couple bites until I got to the halloumi cheese, it just took the saltiness over the top. If you’re gonna get fries with your main meal I recommend sharing them because although they were crispy & enjoyable, the burger & fries together were too salty. Even after drinking a lot of water I felt dehydrated. My husband enjoyed his beef burger, but the chicken wings were so over-salted that they were hard to eat. When we got home we had to take off all the sauce be able to eat them.
Left a good review here a few years ago. Stopped in for dinner while visiting. Staff was great (tipped 20%) but coming from Vegas was shocked the prices were almost Vegas casino level. Bill with tip was almost $140 for 2 burgers and fries (not bad but undercooked) 12 chicken wings that were poorly cooked - not crispy at all on the outside - texture was slimy and fatty, sauce wasn’t very good either, and 4 beers - 3 regular sized and one 20 ounce. Won’t return and definitely can NOT recommend this place - LA/Vegas prices in 29 Palms with poor quality food.
Food was okay. The wings were well cooked but the dry rub was 99% salt - almost inedible. The sqrl burger was juicy but not particularly tasty. The pickle was the best part of the burger. The beer is seriously overpriced. The music was so loud that we could not have a conversation without shouting. Service was attentive and quick and friendly.
Feels like their website may have been designed by chat gpt. Talking about chef inspired items. I would not get the pickles again! I was so looking forward to them as you cannot find them, everywhere and thought that the Swedish (noting this as the chef is noted to be from Sweden) were known for pickling. Tasted only like vinegar and like they hadn’t been pickled long enough. The beets were the best item in the “pickles” And there was no pickles in this either like shown on the website. The grilled cheese was meh. My friend had the pulled pork which was lack luster tomato based sauce with a very Smokey flavor. The French fries were tasty It was a surprise to find out it was open mic night. Was an interesting experience
Prob one of my least favorite places we ate on our trip to 29 Palms. Food arrived to our table lukewarm. I asked for my burger to be well done and it came out with WAY too much pink. Service felt like an afterthought. The restaurant was loud. Judging from the other reviews it may have just been an off night.
Food was good here but it just took way too long to come out we only order wings with fries and a burger with fries. The spot is a bit pricey.

Do yourselves a favor and filter the reviews for this place by Lowest and take people's reviews to heart. I'm a local who took family who was in from out of town to eat here and the hostess/waitress was beyond rude and all of her responses were excuses. As someone who's worked as a waitress myself and in various other customer service positions, the fastest way to ruin a customer's experience is to act as if a customer is inconveniencing you, no matter the reason. There were no "apologies for the inconvenience", no "give us a minute while we accommodate that request" -- it very much seemed like the hostess, the first face customers interact with, could care less. And from other reviews, it appears that this is how staff is generally trained here. There are about 3 other beer and food restaurants down the street -- I recommend you go elsewhere.
Step 1: ask the parents if anyone brought out the toddlers food; parents say “nope” Step 2: bring out the parents food, ignore the toddler Step 3: bring out undercooked chicken for the child under 2 Step 4: casually say you’re sorry and take the tenders off the bill like you didn’t almost cause a child to have food poisoning Wildly disappointed; until mid-last year we lived nearby and would patron grnd Sqrl with friends. Always had good experiences, good few, good music and good vibes. Thank god we cut the chicken into smaller pieces or, instead of enjoying the remainder of a leisurely weekend, we would be taking our child to the emergency.
I ordered the Beyond Burger here and honestly wish I hadn’t. Within hours I had the worst case of food poisoning I’ve ever experienced and I traveled to India before ;) Clearly, something was not fresh or prepared properly. Food safety should be the bare minimum for any restaurant and this place completely failed. To be fair, the service was okay. The staff were polite enough and the food came out in a reasonable time. But that doesn’t make up for the fact that the burger itself wasn’t even enjoyable before it made me lose two days of my holiday
