The staff are very friendly and welcoming. It was a late lunch at 2 pm on a week day so there were only two other customers. I recommend off hours dining in restaurants! ☺️ The staff made sure I had what I needed and there was no rush to leave. Lunch at the Kabila buffet was great! The tandoori chicken was so tender as was the goat curry. I don’t remember what the fish dish is called but I had more than one serving. I don’t know what it was about the plain naan but it was made just right, a little crusty and the right amount of salt. They have unlimited chai and that was lovely with some gulab jamun for dessert. The atmosphere is light, bright and relaxing.
I lived in Hayward for around 12 years, and I’ve practically grown up here! I’ve been to Kabila so many times, whether it was to pick up sweets or to get food from there, and it still tastes as good as it did so many years ago. This place genuinely deserves nothing but the best! I hope I can go back here again one day.
We've ordered some delicious samosas and thoroughly enjoyed. They've their very popular lunch and dinner buffet which I gotta try next. The renovation made it look even more appealing. It has got a great ambience perfect for relishing the spread of the menu! Staffs are extremely kind and go above and beyond to address the customers.
I’ve had this Indian restaurant bookmarked for a while, so when the craving hit, I finally ordered delivery through DoorDash—and wow, worth the wait. First off, everything arrived piping hot and packaged really well (major bonus points). I was pleasantly surprised to see branded containers, which already felt like a sign they take pride in what they do. The garlic naan tasted fresh, soft, and packed with flavor—no sad, dry naan here. I ordered two different chicken curries. I was in the mood for something along the lines of butter chicken, and while they didn’t have it listed exactly, they did have chicken makhni… and let me tell you, it absolutely delivered. Rich, flavorful, and simply delicious. The second curry had more heat, and I loved it just as much—spicy without sacrificing flavor (a rare and beautiful balance). Fremont is overflowing with Indian restaurants, but finding a really good one can be surprisingly tough. This place checked all the boxes and then some. Safe to say, this won’t be my last order.
Kabila had a rough time but as of August has been very good! Long time customers here with all of our family now loving the way they’ve rebranded and bringing out quality! Keep it up.
11/2/2025 Just had dinner at Kabila in Union City. I haven’t been there since the COVID days. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has been beautifully redesigned. Looks brand new and felt special. The curries were perfectly cooked the way authentic Northern Indian curries are cooked with the right spices and ingredients. The breads were perfectly baked with the right crispiness. The dessert was also perfectly prepared and served at just the right temperature. We received very attentive, courteous and excellent service from our server Palak and her team! If you haven’t been to Kabila lately, you must visit this local gem for an outstanding dining experience.
We have been to this location several times. Palak and arpandeep always treat us extremely kindly. The cuisine is delicious and welldone .Thank you for excellent service 🙏🏻. I encouraged everyone to come here and enjoy themselves .
This is the highest quality Indian food I've ever had. From the beginning I really appreciate it when the owner told me that they did not cook with peanuts which is good because I'm allergic to peanuts. The style of this food is from North India. Just check the images they have everything you could possibly want everything from butter chicken tandoori chicken and then even fried fish and breaded pastries. Even the seasoned rice is fantastic. The best part... The entire buffet is only $17!!! Tell me another buffet for as good quality food in the Bay area maybe anywhere with the same price I'll wait. This is right across the street from my work and I'm going to go every weekend now.
9/12/25 Friday interior is upgraded n looks very nice. Pls add mango or chocolate vanilla ice-cream into buffet. 6/20/25 Monday I have been going to kabila last 20 yrs since I work close by in Kaiser. Their buffet is very good. Recently they have changed buffet counter location & new chafing buffet dishes with lid very difficult to open n serve food in plate, heavy spoons n forks. Disappointing again no mango ice cream, no rice pudding in buffet. 11/2/24 Friday Happy Diwali. Good buffet but no kheer, no mango icecream. 7/21/23 Friday no goat curry, no mango ice cream. 2/24/23 Friday Today food wasn't good in buffet. Watery butter chicken, goat pieces were hard, no kheer, jamun smaller than last time & price is still too high $17.95 2/10/23 Friday Very good buffet but pricey. I highly recommend. Hopefully owner will consider & lower the price to $16 or $17 so more n more people can enjoy the buffet. 2/7/23 Tuesday $19 buffet started after 3yrs. Owner should lower the price $16 or $17 make it affordable so more people can enjoy the buffet. Food taste is great no doubt same like before pandemic. Thank u for maintaining the quality of food. Goat curry, butter chicken, fish pakoda, samosas, chicken biryani, naan, jamun, kheer. All were super delicious. No mango ice cream this time. 2/6/23 Monday saw the sign buffet is back very excited. Cross a street from Kaiser Permanente medical clinics. 7/29/22 Friday due to staff short n may be they had plenty of online orders our food comes one dish @ a time. Fish pakora n chicken tandoori taste very good but small pieces/portion. Garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, goat curry n biryani also taste very good but food prices r ridiculously high. We use to go often for buffet before pandemic. Waiting for buffet to be started, hopefully soon?????????????? 4/21/22 Thursday over 2 yrs due to the pandemic no buffet. Food is delicious here.
Visited today and had a wonderful experience with the buffet it was our first time! The manager was very friendly and welcoming. Staff overall was excellent, and the food was delicious. The girl serving us was very polite, welcoming and genuine care. Her smile and attention to detail truly made the meal special for all of our office team. Big applause to all staff members and the owner for creating such a welcoming Indian restaurant with amazing food and atmosphere.
I usually visit the US for short business trips, rarely longer than two weeks. During these trips, I almost never eat Indian food. There are two main reasons: first, I’ve just arrived from India and don’t really miss it yet; second, I’ve always believed that Indian food outside India rarely matches the taste and authenticity of home. Sadly, most restaurants I’ve tried here have reinforced that belief—until now. This restaurant was a complete game-changer. From the very first bite, I could tell this was different. The flavors were rich yet balanced, the spices perfectly layered without overpowering, and each dish carried the depth and warmth that I associate with authentic Indian cooking. The aroma alone was enough to transport me back home, and the taste delivered on every promise it made. The service was another highlight—attentive without being intrusive, with staff who clearly cared about the dining experience. The ambience was warm and inviting, managing to feel authentically Indian without going over the top. For someone like me, who almost always skips Indian food abroad, this was a refreshing and welcome surprise. I left not only satisfied but also convinced that truly authentic Indian food can indeed be found in the US. This restaurant will now be on my list for every trip, not just to satisfy the occasional craving, but because it genuinely delivers a taste of home.
Kabila is one of the top Indian restaurants in Union City. Try butter chicken if you can. Its out of the world. They also make very tasty sweets. Wait times are a bit longer but the food is very tasty. My neighbors did a big wedding order and the guests were very pleased. Definitely recommended.
Have tried their lunch buffet on numerous occasions. I would highly recommend the Fish Pakodas, which are always very good, especially when brought out fresh. The Punjabi Kadhi (not always on the menu) has also been very good. Have also liked the Lamb Curry sauce which goes really well with the Veg Biryani. Other appetizers have also been good. The yogurt is typically fresh and creamy, with a home made natural quality. Often excellent. And the Gulab Jamun has never disappointed. Overall good to very good Punjabi fare and not overly spicy. With rare exceptions, the staff has been very friendly and helpful.
I came to Kabila Union City for their lunch buffet. They have recently gotten remodeled and the inside looks amazing. The lighting and the bakery in the front shouts quality and the seats look modern while the leather cushions were firm. Lunch buffet - 5 / 5 They have your typical Indian favorites like tandoori chicken and chicken masala. Did I mention that they've also got lamb in the mix too? I got to say that the lamb, boy they were so good! They were definitely a crowd favorite as people were definitely digging into them whenever new batches are being brought out. Besides a salad bar, they've got some fruits and small Indian treats on top of your household Indian milk tea, boy it's a feast I tell ya! The regular naan comes with your buffet price but if you want the garlic type, you got to pay extra. Ya! :( The service is meh....It took talking to two waiters to get my water but I wasn't coming here for the service anyway. It sucked but I can live with it, lol. Missing your Indian buffets? Give this spot a try. I liked it quite a bit and I think if service is not priority for you, you'll like it too. Remember, the goal is the food! :)
Under renovation. They have Indian sweets. I only ordered take out of samosas. The give it to you in there nice box. I personally can't eat those non gluten free appetizers, but my wife loves those. We drove out of our way to get the samosas from this store to take it to her aunt. Because they give it in one of there nice boxes instead of plain paper bag.
Was disappointed in their samosas. Sweets were ok. I tried a variety of their Bengali sweets and the only one that truly stood out was their pistachio based sweet.
Good ambience, seating arrangement and seats are limited and uncomfortable. Expect this place like an extension to serve breakfast in typical hotel stay. Most food were prepared with extra level of salt, limited varieties.Plates were placed below knee level which is very uncomfortable for seniors and rest of the guests.
Very Average food. Very oily as well. Stay away if you have heartburn issues. When called ahead of the visit, employee said $17 for buffet and drink/soda was included. Both lies. Buffet was almost $19.40 and drink, can of coke was $2.50. Better buffets around. Recommend one visit per year if that.
All pastries are stale, taste sour. Took 6 pieces of different flavors, all of them bad. Called the store & requested to remove them from display before someone gets sick. All sweets & food is excellent taste & quality, just the pastries ( probably 3rd party supplied) are not worth the money.
Had high hopes but left very disappointed. We ordered the Malai Kofta, Fish Pakora and Roties. The Malai Kofta was a disaster—the gravy was overly sweet and thin, and the kofta balls were actually hard in the center & over fried not soft at all. The Fish Pakora was equally bad: dry fish coated in a greasy, thick batter that was tasteless. Definitely not freshly made. Fish 20% Batter 60% Oil 20% Would not recommend."
The restaurant is selling tava pulav in the name of biriyani, with all the khada masala and no biryani masala, lots of black pepper and cinnamon but no real taste, i can really guess the restaurant owns pets, parathas tells me, though i dont have problem with pets, i myself have 2, but alert for someone who isnt pet Friendly, parathas doesn't come with Dahi or or condiments but with some acchaar (news) Only good thing is cute people serve here.
Disappointing service. We visited around 8 PM, even though the restaurant closes at 9, and the staff clearly did not want to serve. As soon as we entered, we were told to sit on one side because the other side was “closing,” which made us feel rushed from the start. They also refused to serve certain sweets that were clearly visible on the front counter. Overall, the service was unwelcoming and felt like they just wanted us out quickly. The taste and quality have also gone downhill. Management really needs to review staff behavior and customer service standards.
