Opinions de Toadstool Cafe Universal City
Probably the best food at Universal Studios. Def make a reservation, this place is packed constantly! The quality of food is great! The prices are ultra high but yeah that’s what you expect from a theme park eatery. The mushroom soup was excellent from what I was told by mushroom soup lovers with me lol. The burger was good and my 1lb Bowsers fireball challenge was AMAZE!!!!! Yes the line is absurdly long and yes the prices are insanely high but the food is really good and the atmosphere is fun and entertaining. Very much recommend!!!
A fun and cute restaurant that hits the theme PERFECTLY. Toadstool is hands down the best theme park sit down restaurant I’ve ever visited. While everyone’s palettes are different, my group and I found that Bowser’s entree wasn’t spicy at all despite the numerous warnings from staff and social media.
Absolute banger food for an amusement park restaurant. The food is definitely pricey, but given the fact that it's in universal, not bad at all. Definitely recommend the fireball spaghetti, mushroom soup, and the Mario burger -- can't say the same for the dessert items. Personally don't like the storm that happens every so often, but I do appreciate the overall theme of the cafe and the atmosphere.
Toadstool Café completely exceeded my expectations and is easily the best restaurant inside Universal Studios Hollywood. The food is surprisingly impressive for a theme park—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was excellent. The atmosphere is next level. The theming and decor are incredible, and it truly feels like you’ve stepped right into the Mushroom Kingdom. The attention to detail is amazing, and it’s fun for both kids and adults. One standout touch: when you order soup, it comes in a keepsake bowl you can take home, which our kids absolutely loved. Between the quality of the food, the creative presentation, and the immersive environment, this is easily the top dining experience in the park. A must-visit if you’re spending the day at Universal!
Toadstool Cafe inside Nintendo World at Universal Studios is a must-visit destination for any Mario fan or foodie! The moment you step in, you're transported to the Mushroom Kingdom, surrounded by whimsical decor and immersive theming that's simply delightful. Tge Creamy Mushroom Soup served on a rich and comforting bowl of goodness that's perfect for warming up on a chilly day. The meatballs, Deliciously balanced sweet and sour flavors that will leave you craving more. Mario burger has a tasty patty topped with mushroom accents, served with crispy fries that are worth every bite. The attention to detail is impressive, with nods to classic Nintendo characters and settings throughout the cafe. You can Take-home bowls add a memorable souvenir element to your visit. From Toads moving around on screens to the colorful decor, every element enhances the dining experience. Toadstool Cafe is a treat for the eyes and taste buds, making it a great spot for families, friends, or solo visitors. Despite long wait times, the food and ambiance make it a worthwhile experience. Don't miss out on this fantastical dining experience! Book your reservation and get ready to power up your day at Universal Studios ¹ ²!
Honestly, why make a reservation just to wait in another line…lol. There was like no heating, so it was pretty cold inside. Anyways, we got the Mario burger, which was pretty good! The truffle fries were alright, but my partner liked it. We also ordered the toad breadsticks, which tasted like school food… it was so bad 🥲 After that we got the special hot cocoa, which was very good on a cold day!
Fun comfortable lunch spot!!! Great cozy vibe inside, pictures and video walls of toads EVERYWHERE! Booths are nice and food is served at a good pace. You order up at the counter and are assigned a seat. You can't get a seat until you order food first! The Mario burger was good, standard burger patty good size. The bacon was good and crispy, I also enjoyed the thousand island. The truffle fries are real crispy and full of herbs and truffle oil🤪. The wife loved her Mushroom soup, she mentioned it had lots of flavor and was nice and hot. They also let you keep the mushroom bowl holder in comes in. My son loved and ate all his Kids Spaghetti. He was extremely excited about the coin cookie that came it the power up. Great first time experience. Definitely make a reservation way ahead. Service was great, all workers inside were very nice and friendly.
If i could, i’d probably rate this place 3.5 stars but i’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. The experience is pretty cool. The dining area is really cute and the food is presented nicely. Since it gets crowded, we had to make reservations. But don’t think that when your reservation comes you will be seated and get to order your food. You have to wait in an additional line and then order. Then you wait in another line to be seated. And once you get a table you will have to wait for your food and someone will bring it out. The food was good, nothing too special though. I enjoyed the presentation. I also liked the screens that were like windows. I also enjoyed how every few minutes, the atmosphere would darken and it felt like we were in a storm. We got our food at a reasonable amount of time but the table next to us complained they never got their food and it finally took 30 minutes until the dish came out. Luckily ours came in 15 ish minutes. There was also a mishap with our order, so that had to be fixed. This place is definitely a touristy location. Go if you want to aesthetic and vibes but expect to wait a while and to possibly have minor issues.
There are fun toads to look at ❤️❤️ the food decor looks good. On the other hand, food tastes ok. Not good, not bad. Coin cookie a bit too sweet. Would recommend if you love Mario. Most food was lukewarm, but but burger and fries were stale 😫 Also make sure to get the drink! Our reservation was at 12:15 but we got our food at 1:00!!
I reserved time for lunch at Toadstool cafe but we were able to walk in a bit early right before the lunch rush. After ordering at the cashier, we had to wait to be seated at designated table by the staff. We had to wait quite some time for our food (around 20 minutes) as the cafe became busier. The decoration inside the cafe was stunning! The details was amazing and super cute. The cafe light was dimmed when there was an 'attack' on the TV. Overall, it was an exciting experience for us. - Luigi burger: it was a good burger. The pesto sauce was our favorite & super good. The fries were delicious and crispy & well seasoned (not too salty). - Mario mini burger kids meal: it was cute and perfect for kids with veggie & small treat (chocolate) too. The burger itself was just ok. The bun was rather dry but the patty was ok. The fries were crispy and tasty. The steamed broccoli were tender yet still had crunch and the corn was sweet. - Garlic knots: good. The bread was soft, fluffy, and just enough garlic. The marinara sauce was good but nothing special. - Short rib: just okay. The rib was a bit tough but flavorful. The polenta was smooth and tasty. The red wine reduction sauce was good but the cheesy 'white dots' on the sauce was super good.
For theme park food, it could be worse. We ordered the Mushroom soup, the breadsticks, and the fireball challenge. The mushroom soup was definitely the best but the other options were pretty bad. It took 45 minutes to order our food but other than that the workers were nice. I would come back just for the lemonade drink as it was fantastic. The ambiance is really fun and if you are a fan of Mario definitely stop by for the lemonade.
Toadstool Cafe is more about the experience than the food, and it’s important to set expectations before coming. The restaurant works like a fast-casual setup — you order first, then take a seat, and the food is brought out to you. It’s extremely popular, so reservations are highly recommended; otherwise, it can be very hard to get in. The food itself leans heavily toward a pre-made, theme-park style. Everything looks very cute and well-designed, but flavor-wise it’s pretty average. Most dishes are quite heavy and overly seasoned — I’d say about 80% of the menu feels more about visual appeal than balanced taste. Overall, the value for the price is on the lower side, though that’s somewhat expected inside a theme park. That said, the atmosphere is fantastic. The décor is immersive, playful, and beautifully themed. There are also interactive elements using the Mario wristband, which makes the experience especially fun for kids and Mario fans. It really feels like stepping into the game. In short, Toadstool Cafe is worth visiting for the immersive experience, but not for the food itself. If you’re looking for something genuinely delicious, there are much better dining options elsewhere in Universal Studios. This is a place to enjoy the theme — not to come with high expectations for the meal.
Don't go to the cafe expecting the food to taste super good. It's more about the look of things. You can make reservations online. When we arrived they didn't ask for the information. We got in line to order our food. You go from that line to another one to wait for your table. It can get congested as it's a small space waiting for the table. It might be better to send someone ahead then come in later for the group. But not sure if that's allowed. We waited 30 minutes to have our cupcake delivered. Then another 20 minutes for the rest of the food. Our daughter's spaghetti was cold and the kids' cheeseburgers were okay. The wooden utensils are fragile and do break.
The process to eat here is obnoxious. You have to make a reservation first, then wait in line for them to check your reservation. Then you wait in the next line to order your food, then ANOTHER line to be seated. Once seated, it takes an eternity for your food to be delivered. That nonsense aside, the food itself is fine. The children's menu is the way to go because it comes with a burger, fries, dessert thing, and a take-home Mario figure (or Luigi, depends on the burger). I've tried a few of their special drinks but found them too sweet, though kids will undoubtedly love them. It's a gimmick restaurant where you eat inside of a giant mushroom, and that's where Toadstool Cafe really shines. The "windows" are LED screens showing Mushroom Kingdom and the cafe kitchen. Once every 30 minutes or so, Bowser invades and Mario saves the day. It's cute. It's fun. One major stinker is their lack of restroom. You got to go outside to the communal ones, which is lame.
The kids love it here. But jesus. This place misplaced our order and it took 30 min to get our food. Also don’t waste money on the princess peach cupcake (take a photos of someone else’s, it all sugar and could be from Ralph’s). The Mario burger and Luigi burgers were great (comes with Fries). Finally; Mario>Luigi
The only thing good was their dessert. The layered cake bean pole thing. The burger was weird it’s like prison food. Honestly is park food. But wouldn’t recommend the burger. The cupcake is ALL frosting & the tiramisu was good except the cookie & it really Small. Wouldn’t go again.
Overpriced theme restaurant. $25 pork dish was barely warm with small piece of dry pork with mushrooms sauce. Cute but not that cute. Burger was also dry and nothing special other than a plastic Mario stuck on top. Spaghetti was Spaghetti, not really themed. Best thing was the dessert but still jist OK.
The atmosphere was great because it is themed as expected. We setup a time to eat dinner because of the amount of people there. Then the HUGE letdown. Absolutely no customer service, no waiters, no one came to talk to us, no one brought us drinks or nothing. We sat there for over an hour for a burger and fries. It looked good until you ate the food. My burger was cold and some of my fries were hard and cold. Absolutely not worth the wait. The atmosphere as nice at it is, it soon becomes repetitive since you are sitting there starring at each other for an hour. Recommend go to Disney: at least they have waiters that bring your drinks and appetizers before the main course.
Had a reservation for 11am and was easy to go inside. Quick and friendly ordering service, but it went downhill from there. It took nearly a whole hour to receive our food. We only ordered two sandwiches and the tomato soup. They only had two servers bringing it out food at a time which was like every 5 minutes. After waiting almost 30 min I had to use the restroom. Staff was super rude when I kindly asked, “Where is the nearest restroom” to a server who was passing by. She quickly responded without stopping or making eye contact, “You have exit outside”. I was so caught off guard with the response that it made me even more upset. I exited the restaurant and came back a few minutes later hoping the food would appear but it didn’t. We waited for almost 50 min to receive our food. I couldn’t understand it why it took so long. After we received our food I had to get up to get utensils since they don’t serve it with the food. Food tasted decent/mediocre and wasn’t a fan of the truffle fries seasoning which I didn’t even finish. The tomato soap had too much garlic seasoning that tasted artificial versus actual garlic. Atmosphere is great and made the time more bearable with all the cute toads on the screens all Around the restaurant. I’m happy with the souvenirs I purchased which was the drink and the toad bowl. It’s a cute place to go one time but I would never return again.
Food usually takes a long time and when it does it still tastes old. Burgers taste flavorless and dry as if it’s been sitting under a hot lamp for hours, no lie McDonald’s quarter pound burgers taste better and don’t cost $17. I also thought those cake pop things they sold during Christmas were rock hard, I couldn’t even break them apart with the knife and fork. It had the texture of hard ceramic and tasted awful. I recommend the 3 broomsticks, never here even if you’re a fan of Mario.
I am a hamburger connoisseur toadstool cafe is horrible, the theme is off it shows toadstool cafe but has mario and Luigi themed food. The mario burger is very dry and was burned, the bun has a burnt mustache on the bun but you can taste the chard on it which is gross. The bacon on the edges were burned you can tell the burgers are pressed which dries it out and scorched it. Crusty burger is cheaper bigger burgers and way better tasting. I will never return to toadstool cafe, Tiramisu is one of my favorite desserts this one had no flavor and tasted old.
