Great food! Good environment. Pleasant to sit and relax in!

This place is great! Love the food, drinks and the staff is friendly. Family friendly ambiance. My husband proposed to me here in 3/22/2017.. so this restaurant especially has a special place in my heart. The waitress that night was super adorable! Great food and great prices. I very much recommend!! (Yes we had our rings custom made when we left the restaurant, yes I still have that very special napkin ring he made me from this particular restaurant when he proposed)

Go. here. now. We were on our way home from Los Angeles and stopped in. The restaurant was packed so we didn't think we would get a seatbut they had a table for us! We weren't disappointed. Great juicy hamburgers, yummy onion rings. Excellent and fast service!

We had Maui Burgers and Fries here. My friend had onion rings, too. All the food was delicious. Burgers were cooked to perfection, not unlike a fancier "junction" restaurant in Newhall we ate at recently. My friend expected the red onion on the burgers to be in thick slices. Me too. But they chop them up. And our lemonade and Arnold Palmer kept being refreshed even though the place was full of customers. A big plus cuz my friend wants her drinks topped off all the time. My only gripe is there was no TP in the ladies room. Ugh.

I love it here and my family does too. The food looks picture perfect and my waitress said they make the onion rings fresh by hand everyday! Waitress Amber was so nice too. I will definitely be back!

Found a hair in the tortilla soup. The waitress was really apologetic. I saw a lot of people going into the kitchen with hair down, so it makes sense that this would happen. Hopefully, they can address that issue.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our visit. Our lovely waiter was super nice and on top of everything. I took my daughter after having an eye procedure, and it made her a day a little bit better. The food was also so delicious and nice and hot when we got it. My only "complaint " would be that the music was a bit loud for lunch time.

This is a very busy Islands Restaurant. It's okay they take care of you pretty fast. I recommend the chicken tortilla soup.

Arrived at 4:30 on the Thursday, 4 days before Christmas. Not very busy. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. Our order was placed and promptly delivered to our table. The presentation and quality of food was good. Our visit was about an hour and a half. As we were leaving, the restaurant was beginning to fill very quickly, and becoming to get louder. Overall a good experience!

Lunch specials are great deals in this overly expensive country, noon till 2pm. The double cheeseburger with well-done fries was sooo delicious...like a double double on steroids. 12 bucks

We come here all the time. It's been 5+ years.... Leaving a review now because the last visit was great! On January 1st!! I went with my 3 kids (under 6) and the server was so sweet. My kids are a bit energized so eating out for us has to be quick. The server was amazing, the food came in quickly and it delicious as always. My family came here for lunch a little while ago. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere friendly. Our hostess, Bethany was very sweet and professional, when she seated us. She recommend some of their dishes, which we tried and loved. She and our server (did not get their name) went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed.

Every second of my dining experience was good! When I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by a pair of beautiful blue eyes staring at me from behind the host stand. I couldn’t be bothered to ask for the name of the girl who possessed the eyes, but she was friendly and accommodating to my request for a centrally located table (my son Alfrando is severely disabled (catheter+urine bag required for piss-related activities) and when I’m in public, I like to make his urine bag the CENTER of attention). Thank you, kind host! Also, I ordered the shorebird and that was delicious.

Great energetic vibe with great food! Our server Gretell was amazing. She was a rockstar server who knew how to handle her station and get her guest what they need before being asked. They food tasted fresh and hot out of the kitchen.

Service was great but the food was lacking in some areas. The burger was dry but the chicken sandwich was crispy and flavorful. We were shorted some olives in the Sleek Greek Salad but Amber made up for it and brought out some extra! Thank you!

It had been a long time since I've been to Islands, and I'm happy to say that their food is definitely improved since the last time I went. I used to go to the islands pretty often with my family, but over time the quality of the food begin to degrade so we opted to stop going and do other burger joints. As of writing this with you though I can say that it's definitely returned to being a great place to get burgers. I love getting the Maui with sweet potato fries, and my go to alcohol drink would definitely be the lava flow. The servers were nice and the food came out in the timely manner. My biggest gripe would be the fact that the bottomless fries don't count towards the sweet potato fries. if you're going to do bottomless fries do bottomless sweet potato fries as well.

Our server, Jennifer, was outstanding! My Yaki was good, husband's burger was meh. Apparently Islands is now serving better quality meat so unfortunately fries no longer come with the burgers. So... yay! Better meat! Aw... no fries. The service was amazing even though they were short staffed (but who isn't these days?). We'll be back simply because the service was so good! 👍

Can no longer give 5 stars. How can a $13 burger not have french fries with it?? I understand that restaurants are hurting from the pandemic, but so are the consumers. If you want patrons to return, kick in the fries!! Had to edit this..... Our side of fries that cost extra just came to the table cold. We just had them take it off the bill. Definitely NOT paying extra for cold fries!

Good food, but it is always freezing in this place. The last time we went in, we were wearing sweaters, and so was the staff. If you plan on eating here, make sure to bring your parka or winter coat. The food is good, but the service is slow, we enjoy the options that are offered.

Needs to have more staff, they are not friendly staff more like "what do I want you want staff" some not all of them. When we got there it took a while to get the waiters attention, the food is good, the salsa is not, the fruit punch is so generic it tastes like HI-C ,fruit punch. My waitress was good, at the end the one at the bar but the hostess, well let's just lieve it at 4 stars.

Love their North Shore Tacos! But the waiter forgot to bring me the tomatoes I wanted instead of the Pico sauce and was slow to clear the empty plates from our table as we talked awhile after eating our food.

We always enjoy our experience when we visit Islands the food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. This place does tend to get very busy and our server forgot to bring my husband another beer and when she did it was the wrong one. Overall the food was good.

I'm gonna give this place only 4 stars. Bot because of their food or drinks. But because of our server. She was very rude. She had a inhospitable tone. She said she was tired of dealing with difficult customers. Which she said we were being difficult because we wanted to sit in a bigger booth. Mind u it was during the day and it wasn't busy at all. But they said they specifically save those tables for parties of 7 or more. Which we had 6 but it was impossible. After that she had an attitude the rest of the time. I eventually asked to get another server which was much better. The food and the drinks were delicious. I went back again after and had a great experience

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time, and my daughter's chicken burger was great as well. The fries were very good as well. My wife ordered a carnitas burrito, but the carnitas was non existent. We mentioned to the server, but nothing was done. We felt it should have been taken off the check, but that is the only complaint we have. The service was good and food was served very quickly. We would go back, my wife would just not order a burrito!

Islands always does a good job. We enjoy the surf and snowboard videos on the many TV's. The food is pretty good. Only if the service was a bit faster. Seems that they could be a little more efficient. Whenever we come out, it seems like we are there longer than any other restaurant. Other than that, no complaints.

Good burgers for a chain restaurant. You can never go wrong with Islands. Just avoid the usual busy dinner hours. Its loud enough inside to bring small kids too.

Service was a bit slow.. However, the food was very good. Hawaiian burger was cooked to perfection and both it and the truffle fries were incredibly tasty.

I ordered a burger and fries for lunch. The burger tasted good and fresh, but my specifications weren't followed. I asked for no tomato, a well done burger and well done fries, but that is not what I recieved. This is not my first time here, so I was disappointed that this was the case.

The food overall was pretty good, I enjoyed the kilauea burger and fries, the burger patty was good quality as well. Service was decent and food came out pretty fast. I would definitely recommend eating here.

I've been a long time fan of Islands. I normally get their endless bowl of tortilla soup, but on this occasion I went with the Kilauea Burger and regular Island fries, along with some chips and salsa. The chips and salsa came first and were warm and the chips were thin and crispy, nothing special but the salsa was delicious. I had a longboard Beer in a large / tall mug. The beer was cold and tasty, perfect for a 102° day. The burger and fries came out next, the fries were crispy and very hot and they were essentially perfect. They stayed crispy and flavorful to the last fry. The burger however, was another story. It smelled funny. Not unappetizing, just "off". The bun was heavily charred on the inside, and the burger itself was burnt on the outside, but rare on the inside, even though they say they only cook them medium and higher. The burger itself quickly fell apart and I used a fork to eat most of it. It was not a great burger, I give it 6 out of 10. Everything that came with the burger was fine, it's just that the meat patty left a lot to be desired and that off-putting smell. It tasted fine, just smelled..."off" is just the best way to put it. The staff was friendly and helpful and at no point was I ever in need of a refill of my water or another beer. Twice the waitstaff came and insured that I was happy with my meal. When I was finished with a plate they quickly came over and asked if they could take it, again very very good customer service All in all I think I'll stick to the tortilla soup as the burgers were lackluster at best and nothing is cheap anymore so I expect quality, high quality at that, when paying $15.75 for a burger and fries. Parking is plentiful as it is a very large shopping center, kids are always welcome here and they do have a nice bar area where you can watch some games and grab a quick bite without having to wait for an open table.

Island's does a decent job giving you a burger and fries experience. My wife and I visited on a Friday night...It was crowded and we didn't have time to wait but found spots for us at the bar right away. The star of our meal here is always the fries...among the best restaurant fries out there. We also appreciate that they offer an Impossible Burger option as we're both vegetarians and that allows us to have as real-as-possible burger and fries night out at a place that's a step or 2 above fast food. I had the Big Wave, made with an Impossible patty. It was pretty good. I've had better, I've had worse...it did the job. For vegetarians you can also have a "veggie patty" if you're not into Impossible. There are other options too if you're not into a burger and fries, including nachos, quesadilla, a unique Tempura Green Beans side, and a few other sides to choose from. Also the island theme gives you a nice cocktail menu including a Mai Tai and others. We'd come back occasionally.

Really love the island atmosphere. I like the decor and theme. It's very comfortable to sit and eat here. The food is very good. I gave minus a star because the televisions playing sports all around the place kind ruins the nice atmo. The manager is very nice came up and talked with our kids and congratulated or dished for getting recognized at school.

Server brought our check immediate upon taking food away and we still had full drinks. Then proceeded to not stop by our table for the next 30-40 minutes. I had to get drinks from the bar. We love islands as my wife and I go frequently. Hopefully next time will be better.

Went here on a Tuesday evening around 8ish, went in through backdoor, and saw the place was 50% full - empty tables everywhere! When the hostess told us it would be a 20 - 30 minute wait until a table was available ......? We left. Probably not coming back again soon... it's going to be sad to see these places shutting down because they were not staffed to handle an 8 pm party of 5.

The food is ok. It's not amazing but it's not bad. My server was really slow and payed very little attention to me. I asked for a lemonade refill and she took about 8 minutes to bring it. I really love hamburgers so I was slightly disappointed I didn't love these but I'll probably visit another day to give it another shot.

Solid 4 starts. Good food to match the theme. Quick service and plenty of tvs to entertain you, if necessary. One passion has a yummy salad, one a rice bowl, one chicken wings and I had chicken tacos. No complaints. We also opted out of the addicting french fries.

The food is good. The service wasn’t that great. My fiancé and I came here with our baby and we felt judged. When our baby was crying the staff would stare and the waitress was an older lady who either seemed to be having a bad day or just didn’t like us.

It's a decent place with good food. However, it is really noisy and the servers are very busy and i think get distracted easily. My order was mixed up with my partner's meal so that my well-done fries ended up on her plate. The diet coke was flat and I had to ask for another. We had a decaf coffee on our check which we did not order. So you get the gist. There is plenty of parking and the bathrooms were very clean.

Just a casual dining restaurant. The food was good but not great. The tortilla soup was good. The most popular fare is burgers here, but they have a nice chicken bowl. A typical entree is around 10 to fifteen dollars. So for a family of four, you are looking at around $50 to $70 for an average dinner

Service is normally ok. Burgers are tasty, although whoever is cooking them have no idea how to cook a burger medium. Last time i went it was well done. Which made it hard to eat but i was so hungry. This time they made it medium-well. Even though i stressed to the server how badly i wanted it medium. The fish tacos are not that great, it lacks flavor and what it should taste like..

We were greeted very pleasantly. The waitress was very kind . The food, French fries were hard and dry and tasteless. I asked for some fresh ones. They were just as terrible. The hamburger was on the dry side also. With the princes they changed. It should have been a lot better 😔.

I’ve never had such an awry experience with a server on my visit to this location. I had a male server who seemed friendly enough upon him taking our order but as the night progressed he seemed bothered/ annoyed that he had to assist our table, I couldn’t help but shake the feeling that he was bitter at me even while I had done nothing wrong; perhaps because my family and I had arrived at the location a bit dressed up but we were celebrating my acquisition of a job and we did not mean to bring about the sense of spite I was receiving from the man. We did not act rude or make wild demands yet more often then not we had to get the assistance of a different server because the individual whom was helping us would walk by even while our beverages were empty; he forgot to bring us the straws for our drinks even tho he mentioned that he would be back and would communicate in a awry manner with facial and hand movements. The food is fine here but I would definitely make sure to ask for a different server next time.

I used to come to Islands almost weekly years ago and always loved their fish tacos, burgers, and cheese fries. It had been a long time since my last visit, so I was looking forward to coming back. When we arrived, the greeting at the host stand was a bit disorganized. The restaurant was fairly empty, but there was some confusion among the hosts about who was seating us, and we were eventually taken to a table in the far corner by the bathrooms. It took a while for our server to arrive, so we were ready to order everything at once. We started with the cheese fries, which were excellent, served on a hot plate so the cheese stayed melted and the fries stayed warm. For mains, we ordered sliders, a cheeseburger, and the classic fish tacos. The fish tacos were unfortunately dry and lacking flavor, the sliders were just okay, and the cheeseburger was solid. Service throughout the meal was on the slower side, and even the water had an off taste, which led me to switch to a Diet Coke. While seated, I happened to look down at the side of our booth and noticed dried splash marks from old food and drinks. It was not a good look for a restaurant and made the space feel less cared for. At the end of the meal, we asked our waitress for a to-go box twice, but it never arrived. We eventually had to ask the host, who finally brought it to us. Overall, while it was not the worst meal I have had, it did not live up to the fond memories I had from years past, and I do not see myself returning anytime soon.

I’ve been to numerous Islands Restaurant locations over the years and have even dined at this Valencia location before, so I came in with fairly consistent expectations based on past experiences. Unfortunately, this visit was mediocre at best. We came in during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, which I understand can be busier than usual, but the service was extremely slow. It took over an hour to receive two hamburgers and a bowl. Our server, Ronnie, seemed very unenthusiastic and clearly not thrilled to be serving customers that day, which didn’t help the overall experience. I ordered a patty melt from the lunch menu, but it arrived with just the meat and cheese There were no onions, despite being advertised that way and had to be sent back to be corrected. The fries were also not great, and we never received drink refills. Our bill was also incorrect and the lunch special prices were not incorporated. Typically, Islands is a reliable spot with solid food and friendly service, which is why this experience stood out. While I’m willing to chalk some of it up to the holiday rush, it’s worth setting expectations: if the restaurant is busy, service may be slow and food quality may not be up to the usual standard. Hopefully this was just an off day, as past visits have been much better.

Waitress was incredibly nice and helpful. I ordered a Hawaiian burger with a Caesar salad. Manager (possibly?) brought my salad out and said they were remaking my burger because it was sloppy and overcooked. I ordered medium. That was perfectly okay with me; I was glad for them to remake it. The sauce and pineapple had good flavor with the burger, but I prefer a big, juicy burger. My husband had the Kilauea burger with fries. It was not good. There was so much black pepper seasoning that it made the taste of the burger unbearable. He ate less than half. The fries were good and crispy. My niece had the kids burger with pineapple. She special requested that the pineapple be grilled and they were more than willing. The staff was incredible; the burgers were just okay.

The waitress was very nice and I do love the atmosphere. But, the food was really bad. This paticular Island's had a different flavor to most of our dishes. And we were charged extra for two items that she offered as part of the meal's.

Only reason I continue to comeback is because my daughter enjoys the burgers and fries. Our Server was a very quick talker, like she had someplace else to be, I believe her name is Jenny. I had questions about missing menu items and I felt like I kept interrupting her scripted greeting and run-through. The 12 and under burger was overcooked as well as the fries; my daughter only are half. At $6 it wasn't worth a complaint. If it wasn't for my daughter I'd happily walk into the sunset and never look back at Islands. Better food to be had elsewhere.

We've been to this Islands for years and were always happy with the service and the food in the past. However our experience a couple of days ago was not the same. 1. Our server indicated that she was going on break, which is no big deal. She took our drink and appetizer order. We ordered a couple of Sprites for the young kids in our group, but were brought lemonades instead... ok, no biggie. 2. Part of our order was a grilled shrimp tacos and a fried shrimp tacos, two distinctly priced items on the menu. We got 2 fried shrimp tacos instead. Not a terrible mistake, but still not what I ordered. 3. We requested if we could get a side of ranch, TWICE, from 2 different servers... it never came. Then one of them asked if we "still needed that ranch?" LOL. Don't ask if you forgot, instead apologize and make it better. 4. The bill came and despite their mistake on the tacos which I advised them of, yet decided to leave as is, they still charged me for the more expensive grilled variant. Despite all this the food came on time and for the most part was good. The tacos weren't particularly great. It seems like the staff was a bit all over the place and there was little concern for details and ensuring requests and orders were accurate. Sad to say we won't return there at least for a while.

We were sat by the kitchen and it was very loud our waitress forgot our order and my first time free order of nachos. I guess I have to go back to a different islands and see if the nachos are as good as my friend claims or is just the margaritas she's drinking.

This wasn't the only cup that was dirty but this one had food stuck on the inside and still got filled with water...I feel if I'm going to pay $15/plate yall should have cleaner dishes than this.

I must not eat for at list few days in order to eat their food again. That taste was so cheap and it was so obvious the oil it was prepared with was used from probably 1942BC.

Order for pick up even left a tip. Order two burgers one with cheese one without both had cheese already requested for them both to be well done. They were raw very pink inside. I am very disappointed in islands. It was disgusting.

Had a party of 4. Waited 45 mins on a busy Saturday, so I am not complaining about that. However. As we were waiting a party of 7 (2 adults, 5 kids) walk in and get seated immediately. What a joke. I complained to manager, but she wasn’t aware of what the hostess did, and the people were already seated. They said some BS about it being a big booth and they couldn’t sit parties of 4-5 there. Makes no sense. Very unprofessional. I live local, and I will never come back. Just know if you are waiting at this place, a large party will walk in and take your table. Suggestion..... go somewhere else.

Had a really great dinner with my family. They had to leave early, so I asked if I could sit in the bar. I moved my drinks to a table in the bar and went to the restroom when I came back my drinks were gone, a full piña colada, and a full iced tea I told the bartender She said she didn’t know who’s they were and had them cleared off. I wasn’t offered another drink instead, I was brought water usually love coming to islands Was very disappointed This visit

We sat at our table for over 10 minutes. No one acknowledged us, and we left. When we told the hostess on our wait. She just said, "Oh well. Terrible customer service

If I could give a half star I would. I sat in the restaurant for 20 minutes before someone came to take my order. Once they came they said give them a minute. After waiting another 15 minutes I decided to try and find someone. To my surprise no one was at the booth so I looked and there was 5 servers in the back just standing around talking. This is by far some of the worst service I ever had. I will not be going back!

Service was super slow and frustrating. Kitchen was extremely slow. And even when we got the food it was cold not even a hint of warmth. We got our fries/ sides first and 20 Min later then we got our burgers after we were told it would be out 2-3 min later. Tacos were all lettuce and literally 7 small dices of chicken (no exaggeration) drinks went without being refilled until we asked twice for it to be refilled at least for a few of us at the table. Don’t eat here unless you have no other options, not as hungry and no plans of going anywhere afterwards. It took 20 min to get our soft drinks and an hour total to get the burgers. Weird, irritating experience.

I hate when I have to give a bad review but for what they (over)charge now, I don’t want anyone else to waste their money here. My family and I have been noticing a decline in this chain over the last few years but had hoped it would rebound. Well, it hasn’t and tonight was the last straw for us. We won’t be going back ever. Our food was so incredibly bad that fast food would have seemed gourmet compared to it. Not a big exaggeration. The kids $7 mac n cheese was clearly reheated and from a box. It was old and all stuck together in a small little cold clump. Our French fries were so over fried that the inside was nearly hollow, yet the outside was saturated with oil, making them kinda slimy but hard at the same time (and room temp). The rice bowl was small and completely flavorless. I poured on two helpings of sauce just to get some flavor into the $18 waste of money. Forget the rest of the food. What happened to this place? Islands used to be pretty good and festival place to go. It’s now a tired, old place with disgusting food. This was such a terrible and way overpriced experience.

We had lunch there yesterday at 2pm. Our server was great so was the service. My husband had ordered the Yaki tacos and he had the worst food poisoning ever. Please check your chicken for that particular item on the menu.

Update: Restaurant reached out below in response of this review, but then never responded to email despite multiple attempts. False promises of making it right from management, very disappointing. Original review: The food was actually pretty good, the only problem is I couldn't really taste anything except chemicals for half the meal. Apparently they like to seat customers in an area right before they deep clean it. Our server Gigi was so busy cleaning didn't get a single drink refill until well after we were done eating. Refill was diet, had to send it back. Despite the fact we politely let Gigi know about the overwhelming chemical smell and taste, she offered no apology whatsoever. Still left a $5 tip because servers don't get paid enough, but I strongly considered not leaving one at all. Doubt I'll be back.

This place is ridiculous. They won’t allow babies food in the restaurant so my baby didn’t get to eat while all of us were eating.. servers also had an attitude. They looked at us like we didn’t have money to pay for the food that we ordered.. never going here again.

Stopped for lunch when place opened, which may have been a mistake. Place was empty yet service was nevertheless slow. Frank was slow to take my and my wifes order and was slow to deliver food. Wife said her burger was just OK nothing special and she would not return. My BLT had cheese and was served on a cold hamburger bun. Only food that was served warm were the fries. It was very difficult to receive a refill on our drinks too. We kept trying to flag Frank down to help us but he seemed preoccupied on his phone or chatting with others. Even though place was empty, after 45 minutes a few more unfortunate folks stumbled in. Too bad my wife previously enjoyed Islands but after this dining experience said she never wants to return. She said she can get cold bad food and no service elsewhere. Place was a bit loud with multiple TV's blasting loud sports.

Update: I’m saddened to have to give this location one star (honestly zero if I could). Just when I was starting to enjoy this place, they completely disappointed me with their odd and uncomfortable service. When I asked for the check and mentioned I’d be paying in cash, the server stood right at the table and waited, watching me dig through my money pouch—even after I asked her to give me a minute. Literally HER EYES WERE INSIDE OF MY PURSE!!! It felt very intrusive and made me extremely uncomfortable. A little privacy would have been appreciated, along with a printed receipt first. On top of that, I can’t stand when restaurants clear dishes while we’re still eating. Please don’t reach over guests to grab plates—it’s rushed and makes the whole experience unpleasant. Unfortunately, this was enough for us to decide we won’t be coming back. —————————————— I used to frequent Islands a lot back in 2008–2010, but over the years I stopped going as much. The last time I visited in 2023, I wasn’t impressed with the food and didn’t feel the need to come back. Recently, though, I gave them another try—and I think they’re winning me over again with their burgers. This time, everything came out hot and fresh, with buns grilled to perfection. The Hula Burger especially hits different—amazing! The only downside was that the fries were a bit hard and overcooked. Hopefully next time I can request them to be cooked a little less crispy.
