Featured on Triple D once before and hearing things about Baby Blues BBQ I had to try this place myself. My brother and I were in town for family stuff and we took the opportunity. When you walk in the door you notice lots of open seating, with seating outside as well. Cool old time pictures all over the walls, with diagrams of all the cuts of meats and with the smell of BBQ in the air. With all the cuts of meats and all the different sides (fixins) it’s definitely a place to try if you’re in the mood for some BBQ…
It's been a long time since I am eating here so my husband and I stopped here for early Christmas eve lunch this was one of my brother's favorite restaurants he loves a barbecue food my brother Phil passed away 2 months ago on October 27th he introduced my family to this restaurant have so many amazing memories of my brother and family eating here and also with the other baby blues that closed down a few years ago the one up in Hollywood but thank you for the memories thank you for being so kind and so wonderful and keeping the food delicious and amazing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
How is it possible this restaurant doesn’t have a 4.5+ ⭐️ rating?! The food 🍗 and decor is great but what brought us back a second time on our five-day vacation in California was the exceptional service. Absolutely EVERYONE we came into contact with was super friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The employees and owners seem to sincerely care about their customers having a fantastic experience and that is evidenced by everything they do! I’d love to see even more interesting photos🎞️/memorabilia on the walls but that’s personal preference PS - try the banana pudding! 😋
We went to try all of the vegan options tonight and WOW were we impressed! We got the most perfect Fried Green Tomatoes, Corn on the Cob, Chopped Salad, Sweet Beans, Burnt Tips, Vegan Tofu Sandwich and the best Stewed Tomatoea we’ve ever had. Everyone who worked there especially Nick, was so kind and attentive. We love being able to feel included in the BBQ fun as vegans and really appreciate the lovely effort made. Can’t wait to go back!!!
Best BBQ on the Westside. The brisket is insanely soft and tender, the kind that melts the moment you bite it. The fries are always perfectly crispy—exactly how I like them. I’ve been coming here for years and it has never disappointed. Consistent, delicious, and easily my go-to BBQ spot.
We here with family and 2 very young children. We ate in the back patio. It is a confined area with heat lamps and outdoor lighting. The staff was fabulous -very attentive and accommodating. It is often difficult to eat out with young children and this was the perfect space. The food was hot, the servings generous and the staff gracious. We will eat here again!
I had the sliced brisket on a Wednesday morning, and I must say it was fantastic. It was moist tender, and the texture was perfection. Everything about it was totally on point. In Los Angeles it’s hard to find good quality barbecue and I must say I was so impressed with what I had at Baby blues. I’ve been coming here for years and sometimes it’s anywhere from good to great not always great but the brisket I must say was absolutely as good as you can get and I grew up in Texas. I’ll also say that the price point wasn’t terrible while it’s not as reasonable as I wanted to be it’s still in terms of Los Angeles prices it’s fair I suppose in his new era of higher prices lol
Baby Blues is simply amazing! All in-house smoked and barbecued bbq, homemade sides, local and family owned, fair prices, clean dining room and bathrooms… And the food is just delicious to the max! The bacon blue burger is my favorite burger in town! Even the iced tea, both unsweet and sweet is brewed fresh and absolutely perfect. Fresh lemons to squeeze too, I’m just in love with the place! Thanks so much you guys! I’ll see you again soon!
I stumbled upon this place as I was looking to go to another restaurant that’s was closed for in dining service. Best thing that ever happened to me. Normally, it is hard to find a good bbq place but boy was I surprised by this place. The service was great. 3 different people approached me to take my order before I decided on what to get. I chose to e 1/2 pound chicken, Mac and cheese, collard greens, potato salad and beans along with some tropical punch Kool-Aid. Where can you get that these days? Ty r food was very well seasoned and the chicken had a great smoke taste to it. The best was by far the collard greens. They tasted like my grandmother was in the kitchen making them. This place didn’t disappoint at all. I will definitely be going back there. If you want some good food along with a cozy atmosphere, this is definitely the place for you.
Stopped in recently for dinner and had a good experience. The service was absolutely fantastic, super attentive, friendly and returning often to check on us. Food was on point - large portions & good flavor. Only complaint there was it could have been a bit warmer, but not a huge deal. The hush puppies and cornbread were phenomenal, tons of corn flavor and texture and the honey butter was a great addition. There was a nice variety of very tasty bbq sauces right at the table so you can make your taste experience your own. The music was a bit loud to have conversation but also not a deal breaker. We’d absolutely return again!
The food is good, but the vibe is better and the service great! Even though the brisket is a bit dry, it is tasty. The beef rib is good, but the piece we got had a bit too much grease. Maybe you can tell the waiter to choose a less greasy one if you don’t fancy that. I would repeat the experience.
First time here after many years of driving past this place. Was hesitant due to a 4.4 rating, but gave it a go. Food is about a 3.5-3.7, as I ordered Memphis ribs which were not tender and quite dry. I let the waitress know, but I decided to just eat what was on the plate not to waste that food. Collard greens were good, nothing stood out, stewed with tomatoes, Mac n cheese seemed bland to some degree. As others mentioned, the cornbread is the standout item. My waitress was exceptional and the vibe is cool. Not sure if I’d go back for ribs. Price is about on par with other bbq spots, $29 for the plate. Think my Dr Pepper was $4.50? That’s insane. The key lime pie was good $7.
Chicken was tasty and well cooked. The hush puppies were completely raw inside. The macaroni and cheese was no good— the noodles were overcooked to mush with no cheese flavor at all. It tasted like mushy noodles mixed with scrambled eggs, and I had to throw it out.
I’ve been coming to Baby Blues for years and was really excited when they reopened. Unfortunately, my experience last night was disappointing. The prices they charge in the restaurant are higher than what’s listed on the menu online. My to-go order included the sliced brisket platter, which was $4 more in the restaurant than the online price, along with an order of hush puppies. The menu shows $4 for 3 hush puppies, so that’s what I thought I was getting. Instead, I was charged $10 for 6—something I wouldn’t have minded if they were good. But the hush puppies were charred, like they had been refried after getting cold. The mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were just alright, and they don’t offer gravy for the mashed potatoes. I also wasn’t a fan of the cornbread. The brisket, though, was delicious and seasoned perfectly. I asked for butter and honey, and the employee told me they were already in the bag for my to-go order, but they weren’t. I truly believe Baby Blues has great potential, which is why this visit was so disappointing. Being charged more than what’s listed online and receiving food that doesn’t match the price point was frustrating. I hope they tighten up these issues because I’ve always enjoyed them in the past.
Heard this place was comparable to authentic Texas BBQ from a Texas friend. The portions, presentation and menu were promising of a bbq restaurant, however the overall quality and preparation of the dishes was a little disappointing. The tri-tip for example was dry and needed alot of bbq sauce to be saved. The Brisket was very fatty, mac cheese wasn't my fav style, and the fries were alittle too crispy. The corn bread alone saved the day, as well as the sauces offered at the table. Service was good, and the space is clean and simple.
About last night!! I ordered the 45.00 Beef Rib, sides at extra cost corn on the cob and collard greens. The collard greens were extremely salty and sent them back, the RIB was not cooked that day and was really tough to cut into and it was COLD . I asked the waitress when was this cooked? She could not give me a direct answer. I returned that back too and at that point I was turned off and did not want anything else. My friends plate was cold too (brisket) Really disappointing. Do not serve cold food that was cooked who knows when. Will not be returning. Have some integrity!!
