Great spot on the upper west side. The place had good food, wines and ambience. I thoroughly enjoyed my seafood magic, pulled with some Montepulciano! The dessert selection coupled with the port wine was a nice touch.

Our visiting our party of four consisted of 3 world travelers and two who have been to Italy enjoyed our stay at Trattoria iL Gusto. The atmosphere was very traditional for a Italian restaurant and wine bar. We had an erray of Italian food but the lamb chops were amazing. Topped with Tiramisu and a double espresso end our afternoon with a thought of heavenly food and happy thoughts. We even forgot it was raining outside. We could have stayed here for hours. Highly recommend, a must when visiting New York.

We were given menues and our waiter patiently gave us as much time as we needed. A pasta soup was great, as well as a salmon and gnocci, delicious. Enjoyed my meal, seated outdoor.

Great place,this is the place that we had our wedding luncheon and also when we celebrate our anniversary for our wedding. Great staff,great food. So recommended.

Love this place for visiting with old friends...we come here 2x a year and always request our favorite seat. Its very cozy and you can talk amongst yourselves without having to shout...thats really nice. Also all the meals are great. I have to say I always enjoy my meal but this time I asked if I could have the fish that they usually serve in a red sauce...to make it in a white sauce. It wasn't that great..honestly...but every other meal, ive had (again we've been meeting 3 or so years) has been great. And my husband and friend did enjoy the fish in the red sauce. However, me personally, i I will stick with the chicken or veal dishes....the clams oreganato as an appetizer were delish too!! And calamari appe...good too!!

The appetizer alright but the entrée was delicious! Highly recommend their fish. The sea bass was great and my guest got the salmon and it was also very good. Service was OK. Because we looked younger they didn't give us a menu and asked us to use our smart phones, I don't like dining with my phone. Other tables around us were given menus.

I didn't love this. And for the most part I can blame it on one main thing: cheese. I had two different items that were topped with cheese, and in both cases the dishes got better when we removed the cheese. It's texture was just too... Firm and chewy. It just doesn't work for lasagna and we just didn't enjoy it. In all fairness we ordered to go, but it's a 5 minute walk home, as we live down the block, and the food was still piping hot so the cheese should still have been melted. To their credit they did accommodate a request for a non-menu item, which was great service, so this isn't about the restaurant themselves - they seem very nice and it seems to have a good atmosphere. The lasagna was tasty (after removing the cheese) but more dry then I'd prefer... Very little meat sauce so we really had to rely on the sauce that was poured into the container to bring in the moisture. Overall the studies flavors were good. And their meatball is good though. Marinara sauce is tasty. So this isn't all doom and gloom. There are good things to be had here. But because so many Italian dishes really on cheese, I'm hesitant to try any of those. But I'd give another cheese-free dish a try.

The salad was uneatable, the arancini was cold in the middle and instead of a spreading cheese it was just a block of cheese in the middle. When we said something they just said that's how it is and took it. That's all. Very disappointing, they added service as the pleased without asking. There are definitely better Italian restaurants around there. Don't fall with this one.

I had a reservation for Saturday at 5 PM and was very much looking forward to the experience, as it came highly recommended by a trusted friend. Our meal began pleasantly—the calamari appetizer was delightfully light, airy, and crispy.However, the service we received was disappointing. While we were still enjoying our appetizer, a staff member asked if we had finished, despite the plate being nearly full. It gave the impression that we were being rushed. Later, when our pasta dishes arrived, I requested additional bread for the table. The same gentleman (I use that term loosely)visibly grimaced and replied, “I already brought you bread.” I clarified i am aware we wanted more, to which he responded, “I’ll bring you more bread, but I’m going to charge you.” This exchange felt unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. While I understand there may be policies regarding additional items, the tone and manner in which this was communicated did not align with the warm and welcoming service I expected from your establishment.

Unfortunately, our visit to Trattoria Il Gusto was a complete disappointment due to the terrible service we received from our waiter, Miguel. From the start, his attitude was rude and unprofessional. We ordered two Coca-Colas, and both were flat. When we kindly asked for replacements, the new ones also had no carbonation at all. When we pointed this out again, the waiter became aggressive and outright refused to change them, claiming they only used cans and that two had already been opened. When I asked him to bring me an unopened can so I could open it at the table myself, his response was abusive and confrontational: instead of helping, he demanded that my husband go to the bar to check the cans and made it clear that he was not going to replace them. To make things worse, when I requested to speak with a manager, the waiter refused. It is unacceptable for a restaurant to allow its staff to treat customers this way. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they automatically added gratuity to the bill, despite providing horrible service that did not deserve it. I do not recommend this place at all. If you value good customer service, avoid this restaurant.
