My colleagues and I went to Talia's as part of a team off-site event. We were a big group and Talia's was so helpful in setting us up with a prix fixe menu, accommodating vegetarians and allergies, and serving our big group. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. My whole team had a great experience!

Loved our night! Food was incredible, servers were amazing and helpful, love music added to the vibe. This is the most underrated Kosher places in the city without question and I've been to all of them.

We booked for eight people to coincide with the breaking of a fast....the food was fantastic as was the service. They know how to cook!!! Recommend highly They also deliver within the tristate area and have guest chefs who cook meals from different countries ....India, Nepal, Thailand and now Haiti...

I have been a customer of Talia's Steakhouse for over 15 years. The owner and his sons will go out of their way to make sure you will have a great dinning experience. The food is always fresh and tasty. I miss the live music and the social gathering especially on late Saturday night. During the past weeks and months, restaurants owners are working tirelessly to care for both their customers and employees during the COVID-19 crisis. All retail stores and especially fine dining restaurants and bars are hardly survived and by writing a, fake or genuine, bad reviews, the owners would be absolutely placed under additional burdens on them during these unprecedentedly trying times. In conclusion, when TALIA'S will reopen, i am going to be the first customers. Highly recommended.

One of the best kosher steakhouses in Upper West side. I eat here often, my favorite dishes are prime rib ( juicy and made to perfection) with sweet potato fries and chicken Caesar wrap with sautéed veggies. The staff is so friendly and accommodating that I got to know them as my friends. They have amazing ambience with live music on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The bartenders make the best drinks and smoothies are refreshing on a hot summer day. Also have outside sitting which is a perfect. Open until 4am on Saturdays. Perfect spot for dates, get together or just for drinks at the bar. I would definitely recommend for food, staff and amazing atmosphere.

I came in from out of town and didn't really know what was around but I'm sure glad I stepped into Talia's Steakhouse. The decor and aura was delightful with great music playing in the background. My friends and I each ordered different burgers and not only were they quite big portions but they were incredibly flavorful, well spiced, and perfectly cooked. They even came with what were probably the best onion rings I've ever had; I'm pretty sure they make them from scratch. Next time I'm in NYC I will most definitely be stopping by Talia's Steakhouse again!!!

It's a bit dark, a bit noisy and a bit crowded. But in this case those are all good things. The place had a warm buzz, the staff was very welcoming and extremely attentive without over-doing it. Overall we had a very nice time. My wife and I took our daughters and a friend out for a family celebration. I started off with the combo platter appetizer - a plate consisting of an assortment finger foods including kibeh, chicken fingers, hot dog and Morracan cigars. After a few minutes we were given another serving as the kitchen wanted to apologize for the wait as our entrees were being prepared (funny, we didn't think things were moving slow at all). My daughters both ordered the rib-eye steak and said it was excellent. Our guest had the burger who said she enjoyed it and my wife and I had the ribs. We both agreed that they were not our preferred style but none the less they were quite good and the portion was very generous. At the end the staff brought out my daughters dessert and sang "Happy Birthday". The only warning or negative thing would be that getting parking on the UWS on a Sunday evening is a real challenge. In the end we wound up parking a lot.

The hummus, Lamb, chicken and meatball's were absolutely amazing!!! A fantastic combination of flavors!!! Run don’t walk to Talia’s, for a meal you will savor forever!!! Bon Appetito!!!

We enjoyed the service and ambiance at Talia's. The food was delicious and plentiful. We even had enough leftovers to take had home for two other children to have dinner! The service was swift and polite. Since we had a Groupon (as a gift) we needed to pay tax and the tip. We were somewhat taken aback at the size of the tip recommended considering we had a Groupon. The tip was based on the original value of the meal not on the Groupon rate. We also did not drink wine and were entitled to two, so those charges should not have been considered in the total. Despite the unexpectedd expense, the meal was quite enjoyable!

Me and my wife usually enjoy sitting at this restaurant, however, due to the circumstances we had to take out today. Nevertheless, dinner was perfect as usual. We love the BBQ spare ribs. By far the best kosher restaurant in the area. Highly recommended!

We had our granddaughter’s Sheva Brachot tonight. The food was delicious and plentiful. Beautiful presentation and excellent service! Will definitely plan our next Simcha at Talia’s! Thank you, Ephraim, Linda, Francis and everyone else who made this evening memorable

Had a beautiful time here. Every single dish is generous and delicious. The Yemenite soup is very tasty and just the right amount of spicy. The BBQ spare ribs are great to share, very big portion. The Butcher's cut has the perfect crisp crust and soft inside. Their fries and onion rings are both great and deserve to be more than just a side. The service is really great, staff all eager to please and do their best to make sure your visit is exceptional. Keep up the great work!!!

My dinner at Talia’s this past Saturday night was one of the best culinary experiences of my life. I started off with a crisp Goldstar lager imported straight from the holy land which was fantastic, and my date also quite enjoyed her margarita. Then the food came out and boy was it a cornucopia of flavors. We had the wings as an appetizer and then the Atlantic salmon and the ribeye steak. I can’t say enough about how tasty all the food was, and the service was equally impressive. As a bonus, there was a jazz duo playing live as we ate, which was really soothing and was the perfect noise level that allowed us to enjoy the music without being too loud to prevent us from having a conversation. Overall 11/10 would recommend!

They serve good kosher food. The place give vibes of an event space more than a restaurant but you can sit inside or outside and enjoy your order.

I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we had an amazing time! We went on a Sunday night so it wasn’t crowded and we had a nice seat by the window. They let us put a couple tables together to hold all of the food. I used a Groupon and it entitled us to a lot of food and if we upgraded the steak (we did) we only had to pay $20 extra dollars. Lots of food. Definitely enough for two people. A whole bottle of wine and a whole lot of enjoyment.

This is a great restuarant with a nice ambience of background music. The steaks were well cooked and the appetizers were delicious. The owner, Effie is a very pleasant person who likes to give 100% satisfaction to his guests. The service here is ALWAYS great. Without a doubt, the best cut of prime steak. We loved the rib eye!!!! Highly recommended!!!

Had dinner at Talia's earlier, from the warm welcome the moment I went in to the full-filling dessert I had... I have to say they did a very good job. I took my parents for a steak Monday and got surprised with their food, we had more than enough food for the table and all tasted so good. The owner and our waitress(sorry I didn't ask for ur name) were above beyond to give us good suggestions and GREAT service.(especially I brought a groupon, y'all know it's tricky sometimes) but we felt so welcomed and had a good time. Highly recommend couples/families visit Talia's, u will be treated very well.

A friend of mine recommended Talia’s Steakhouse as a romantic Spot for a date. We were welcomed by the hostess and seated in a reasonable amount of time. We got a very nice corner, as requested by us, with a candle and a rose on the table. Our server was helpful and attentive even though the place was quite busy. We ordered the Prime Rib for 2 and what a presentation! The meat was thinly cut and sizzling hot and cooked to perfection. Highly Recommend.

This has to be my favorite restaurant in NYC! Talias has all the components that make up a good restaurant. The service is impeccable- my waitress was really friendly, they serve you delicious pita bread, and very attentive. My favorites: middle eastern salad platter (appetizer, so many goodies for a great price!), the dish you absolutely MUST have: the prime rib!!! All the food tastes authentic and homemade and they treat you like family when you are there. 5 stars! (I’d give it 6 if I could). Oh, and I don’t keep kosher and I still love it!

The service there was absolutely spectacular. The waitress really catered to my family's every need and serviced us as if we were royalty. The food was plentiful (groupon deal) and excellent in taste. Highly recommend!

A Classic Upper West Side Flex — Kosher, Classy, and Somehow Always Exactly What You Needed Talia’s Steakhouse is one of those places that every frum guy has heard of, most have eaten at, and all of us pretend we’re “just stopping in for something small”… right before ordering a steak the size of a daf Gemara. The outdoor seating alone makes you feel like you’re in some classy European café — except instead of philosophizing about life, you’re calculating whether you should get mashed potatoes and fries. (Spoiler: get both.) The food? Solid. Reliable. Hits the spot in that “I’m in Manhattan and I need to feel like a mentch” kind of way. The steaks are well-seasoned, the sides are hearty, and nothing comes out looking like it was rushed or thrown together. You can tell they take pride in the presentation — even the salads come out looking like they got dressed up for a simcha. The vibe is relaxed, a little fancy, but still heimish enough that you don’t feel out of place if you show up straight from mincha. Staff is friendly, patient, and somehow never look surprised when a table of six asks for “just one more basket of bread… if it’s not a tircha.” Bonus points: ✔️ Great date-night spot ✔️ Good for Shabbos meals if you’re in the city ✔️ Perfect for that “I need a real meal, not pizza” mood Overall: Talia’s is a staple. One of those rare kosher restaurants where you walk out satisfied, full, and only slightly in denial about how much you spent — but with zero regrets.

I came to Talia's with a group. The four of us were so hungry and didn't have a reservation, but the host was so accommodating and seated us within 5 minutes. The pita beard and spreads were so good, we asked for seconds. We ordered middle eastern salad and chip and dip trio for starters. Great choices. The chip and dip trio is large and tasty. Our entrees were prime rib, BBQ spare ribs, filet mignon and chicken Marsala. So pleased with the food here and left satisfied beyond expectation. Great food, definitely recommend to everyone. Thanks for a good experience.

I love this restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing and the service is unmatched. It is a spot a friend of mine and I go to when he is in town. He lives 1800 miles away. We had gone this time last year and really enjoyed ourselves so decided to go again when he was in town. Linda works the drinks there and she remembered us from a year ago!! She's so amazing and the staff there super friendly. The owner even came out and offered us a free anything just because. And did I mention the food? You can't go wrong here with anything.

We celebrated my husbands 40 birthday at Talia's. It was the most special event. The staff took care of our every needs (especially the Chilean manager, Jeff, Effie the manager and Katie the event organizer). I was a little worried about the event but they done a magnificent job and did not let me worry for one ounce of the event. The food is superb and all my guests compliment the taste, presentation, portion size and the bar was great too. The music was a lovely touch and they just made sure everything looked perfect and ran smoothly!! I can not thank the team enough and recommend this place to anyone for a special event!! Set menu was great and so many option and very reasonable for such a big event! I loved the salad starter too, outstanding!

What a wonderful place for my wife’s birthday party! I would have posted this yesterday, the date of the party (October 10)but we received so many phone calls from guests telling us what a wonderful venue this was for my wife’s party!! The service was superb, all the food, especially the appetizers, were excellent and the staff was the most accommodating!! Can’t wait to throw another party and it certainly would be At Talia’s. From this review, you can see, we highly recommend this place. Five stars is inadequate to show what a wonderful time was had and how superb everything was for all guests !

I had a great experience at Talia's tonight! We didn't get there until after 11 on a weeknight, but the staff went above and beyond! Immediately, the ambiance was great- dimmed lighting, burning candles on every table, soft music. One we were seated, our waiter, Jake, provided excellent information about all of the different menu options we asked about, as well as dead-on recommendations. The manager, Crista, checked in with us to ensure a high-quality experience, and she certainly delivered it! We ordered a number of different items, and all of the food was extremely flavorful and tasty! Generous portions, piping hot, and excellent wine to go with it. Thanks to Jake, Crista, and the kitchen, I love Talia's Steakhouse!

Just ate here and felt completely at home the minute I stepped in the door. I was warmly greeted and seated, and accommodated by a very friendly waitress. Food was definitely something to write home about - had a warm pastrami sandwich that just hit the spot. Drank wine from the bar as a lovely compliment to my meal. Music and lighting gave a serene and peaceful background. I would recommend to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming atmosphere to check this place out!

I recently had a great experience at Talias. I came here for a date and loved the ambiance of the place. The pleasant and attentive waitstaff definitely added to the atmosphere. The Mediterranean salad platter was very good - especially the pickled beets. After this, my date and I split a steak, which was cooked perfectly. Overall, I am very happy with this experience and will recommend Talias to my friends and family

KOSHER Steakhouse - Dim lit and date ambiance. I highly suggest this restaurant for a date. It’s not very busy here most of the time and I’m glad about that since I usually end up here on last minutes dates. Can never go wrong with this place. They have delicious steak and not to mention the service is 10/10.

Very good. My wife and I had Friday night dinner at Talia's. I got the Moroccan Salmon, and she got the brisket. Both tasted great, used fresh ingredients, and had ample portions. The real star for the night was the starter, the Yemeni chicken soup. It was such a unique combination of Middle Eastern spices. I still can't stop thinking about it. The service was great. We got there around 8pm and were the only ones in the restaurant, but they did not make us feel rushed. I world go back and I would recommend.

My wife and I had dinner at Talia's Steakhouse and Bar. We had a great time. Our two waiters were very helpful and attentive. (And they had a good sense of humor, as well.) The portions served were very large. The food was delicious. I ordered BBQ spare ribs with a side order of mashed potatoes, my wife had the hamburger and we shared a delicious leafy salad. The two couples at the next table, whom we struck up a conversation with, were also happy with their meals. We'd highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who'd like to have a great night out.

Love this place! The food always tastes amazing. First time, I had Ribeye Steak (medium rare) with Salad and Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla Ice Cream. Second time, I ordered Lamb Shank and Tiramisu. You can tell that everything is fresh. Also, roses on the tables complementing cozy and romantic atmosphere. The staff, managers, and owner are attentive to their customers and will always make sure that you leave satisfied. Special thanks to Anat and her signature mojito with coconut and pineapple.

I had one of the best customer service experiences at Talia's. I ordered a Thanksgiving meal for the office I work at, and not only was the service exceptional, but the food was honestly one of the best kosher Thanksgiving meals we’ve ever had. I’ve never felt so genuinely taken care of when ordering — every interaction with the team was warm, helpful, and attentive. Our whole staff was raving about how delicious everything was. I only wish I had taken photos because it was that good! We’ll definitely be ordering again for our next office event.

Everything I ate is very good. The steak is delicious--good consistency, great taste, and it's kosher! The Yemeni chicken is a must. Service personnel are kind and attentive. The place is not cheap but 1. It's New York; 2. It's kosher. I will definitely come back.

Amazing food. Each plate was like ART both for the visual and for the palate. The atmosphere was authenticly New York with a touch of home crossed with the feel of the classic Casablanca movie. Romantic, nostalgic, a classic to be experinced by those who appreciate quality and good company.

I feel like this place has excellent atmosphere, something which it seems most kosher places completely lack. I have enjoyed most dishes, but it seems to be a bit hit or miss whether I get it quickly. Steaks are cooked perfectly and dishes are very presentable. Good for a nice date or lunch.

Excellent food. Beautiful cocktails. Pleasant atmosphere. Friendly service. I had the lasagna genovese. It was like a lasagna with pesto. I loved it. I do wish the portion were a bit bigger. (Perhaps I'm a glutton) My fiends had the gnocchi and orecchiette with broccoli rabe. They raved about the taste and quality but mentioned that the portion could have been a bit bigger. (Perhaps they're gluttons too) I can't wait to try the breakfast and lunch items!

Talias is a wonderful place to have quiet dinner. In warm weather you can eat outside, and they have well decorated interior for colder weather. Their middle eastern appetizers are delicious, and their steaks are made to perfection. They also have a nice wine selection and and excellent service. Most evenings you can find free parking on the streets which makes this an easy restaurant to visit year round.

Falafel app was perfect, served with a side of tahina. My son had the ribeye, medium rare, which was definitely served right and he devoured it so it must have been 👍 There was a nice jazz duo (keyboard and bass) providing background music for ambiance which was a perfect touch. Service was prompt and courteous. My only complaints would fall under the heading of idiosyncratic: there was a private party motzei shabbat so we couldn't get seated until relatively late. We got a table at the back but it was the only space to put us as the party was winding down and at least it wasn't right in front of the kitchen, so ok. It took a few guesses until we hit on a single malt they had so either a printed whiskey list or a more abundantly stacked bar would be helpful. My son was given a chocolate mousse on the house which was a very nice and generous gesture. Now of course it had to be parve and he loved it but he gave me a taste and, well parve chocolate mousse is... parve.

Really love this place, we use the Groupon so it's a fantastic deal. My only complaint is their insistence on leaving the TVs on in the dining area, not just the bar. They are super bright and very distracting. When I asked if they could be turned off I was told that the owner requires them to be on. She did offer to change the channel. It was originally on a murder show.

Went for a catered party. Steak was good, hummus was amazing, place was crowded and noisy, drinks were definitely not great, waitstaff was super nice and helpful. The person serving the drinks was lovely even though the wine was so so and the tonic water was flat.

My friend and I went to Talia’s for the kosher Haitian popup back in July. My friend keeps kosher but was also vegan, so we were looking for things to order that we would both want. We ended up with the classic stew, I got the meat version and she got the vegan. I tried hers and it tasted EXACTLY the same. You’d think that means they did such an excellent job replicating the meat flavors, but to us it felt more like the meat was an afterthought in the stew. They say they bring in chefs from these cultural backgrounds (Haitian chef was Haitian, their Indian popups have been Indian chefs) but to me it felt like they must’ve told her the audience can’t handle the full flavor of her food 🫣 I felt bad, as I’m sure she’s a great chef, but the food we tried didn’t have any strong flavors, and certainly none that stood out as unique to us. Our expectations were sky high as we both travel a lot and I eat dairy out, so we weren’t sure what we were expecting… I just think we were hoping for more brightness and shock value than this. In NYC, you can try an authentic dish on almost every street corner from a part of the globe you may have never heard of, but it’s the best thing you’ve ever had. Here, the food was fine and unassuming, but did not blow us away with any incredible flavors. I want to keep coming back to popups but please allow the chefs full creative control of their meals! We like Talia’s and I do not want this fi be seen as a negative review, but I would love for them to prove to us that their popups can be truly authentic. :) (This same friend stopped being vegan and went to the Indian popup more recently and reported a similar experience).

I've been to Talia's a few times. The staff is always friendly and helpful. We ordered from the daily specials were amazed by the platters. The BBQ short ribs was a huge plate of tender and delicious meat. We couldn't even touch the mashed potatoes that came with it. We also ordered roast lamb and pasta with a mushroom sauce that was again all meat with a little pasta. We left stuffed and happy.

I had very high hopes for this place but it disappointed me.the steak was not actually a prime rib as the menu suggested. Perhaps it was ribeye that was then grilled. It was unfortunately tough. The french fries alongside we're good and the appetizer plate was outstanding. The wine was okay but there was only one choice. I was intrigued that it was a kosher restaurant. And I was hopeful that I would really enjoy it and be able to come back many times. But it didn't turn out to be good for me. The host was very gracious and hospitableI'm just sorry the food didn't work out to be better for me.

I did not like the waitress who served us. She wasn't that great. However, they had music playing at night when we were eating. The food was delicious and the aura was nice. It is kind of expensive for the price of burger but it's worth the try if you like steak. I would say my experience there was average.

Went for holiday dinner. The wait staff was very pleasant but slow, dishes would come one at a time, slowly. This is concerning given they had a price fixed menu, so the kitchen should have been pumping out everything together. The food was solid to average. We had a large group and they made us sit at two different tables, which made it a lesser experience. They seemed more concerned with keeping the place in order for the next dinner service than with keeping our group together, which is a shame.

Went here with a Groupon on a busy Wednesday night. The deal was great. Got a great meal for the money. However the service and ambiance was pretty bad. I understand a place being busy but we were waiting way too long for almost everything. Had to ask a few different waitresses for water, ketchup, our check, etc. The background music was a man playing keyboard. I thought it was a 7 year old playing it was that bad. I will probably never come back here but I can imagine it would be a decent place to go to on a less busy night. Oh also the entire front of the restaurant was open on a hot day. Was sweating the entire time I was there. Good appetizers though

It's a take out counter, and the savory lunch food I had was excellent, but the baked food and sweets were stale and not good, and the atmosphere was pretty gross. It's filthy dirty in there and such a grim, paper plate type feeling. We were looking for something nice. They should clean it once in awhile, repaint, get some nicer furniture. Seems like it would be good for take out only.

I was expecting a little higher end atmosphere. The place looks like a bar from the wild west. After several attempts at asking to turn up the heat we ate most of the meal wearing our winter jackets. The entree, salmon was prepared fine but nothing special. I don't think I would ever go back.

What is this place, honestly? Because it seems like a front for sketchy business masquerading as a „restaurant”. In fact I’m 99% sure that’s what it is. Went in to order dessert to go. Was stared down by a Rabbi looking gentleman, as if I’d waltzed in unclothed (this is obviously not the restaurant’s fault but didn’t help the experience). The „baklava” is unfortunately pretty terrible. Also technically not a real baklava. For the price, it’s pretty ridiculous. Again, staff and especially the guy ringing me up was very kind. But I’ll definitely never set foot in this place again.

So I went here with my sister last night for dinner. I live in Brooklyn, and I despise the city, but i had amazing company so I went. I always wanted to try Talia's so I had high hopes. I found parking across the street and we walked in. There were 3 other tables woth people but not a waiter to be seen. We spent maybe 3 or 4 awkward minutes standing there. Then someone came and gave us a table. The table rocked back and forth so we moved. Then we got the menu and some water. We ordered the sampler. The knish was literally raw on the inside, the chicken was bland, the kibbeh was ok, the falafel was ok, but the cigars were AMAZING. I asked the waiter if they make it in house he said no. They get it from BROOKLYN. My sister asked for ketchup, ugh, it Never came. I went to the kitchen and asked the chef who was the only one there, and he gave it to me. I got the prime rib, my sister got the cauliflower steak. What the heck is a cauliflower steak?? Anyway she said it was good. I don't see how one can mess up a slice of cauliflower. My prime rib came out on a sizzling plate. It was ok. Nothing special, nothing to justify 80 dollars. I got spinach with it, I wish they had Mrs dash so I could put some flavor in it. Anyway while it was nice to see my sister and hang out, I was disappointed with our food experience. Btw I realized at the end where all the waiters went. Turns out there is a shawarma place next door that the waiters in talias work. They were very busy, made me jealous that I didn't go there.

An all-around unpleasant experience. It took an hour and 15 minutes for our food to arrive-- the waitress offered us a second round of drinks on the house, which none of us were able to accept, and the offer ended there. (Comp our first drinks? Dessert? Anything other than more alcohol?) When it finally arrived, it was incorrect (but we obviously weren't going to wait for a remake) and the filet mignon was terrible. The only reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is that the brisket was good, but that wasn't enough to save it. We'll never be back-- plenty of other good kosher options in the city.

The waiter was very nice! Fried cauliflower was excellent The salads were not chopped fresh The meats were completely unseasoned and overcooked I wanted to like this place but it’s simply not good and for the price awful!

My husband and I went to Talias for our wedding anniversary. We had really high hopes after reading the reviews. However, we sadly had a really bad experience. The restaurant had a party of 25 which clearly was their only priority and they proceeded to neglect us every step of the way. Upon checking in for our reservation no one was there, so I had to find someone after waiting for 10 minutes. Then we waited 30 minutes for someone come take our drink order. I asked a question and then we waited Another 20 minutes for that to be answered. Finally after almost an hour we got the drinks and were able to order the food. Upon receiving the food sadly, my husbands order was completely wrong, but he ate it and dealt because they took so long to take orders and deliver the food, he was hungry and felt like it’d be another hour before he got a fixed meal. After we were finished eating we waited 20 minutes with no service. I finally called someone over and asked for the check, she ignored me. I then asked again and was again ignored. Finally I asked a third time and was told I needed to wait because of the party of 25, which I responded to explaining that we needed to leave because our baby was hungry. We didn’t receive the check for another 20 minutes (equaling about 45 minutes total of waiting for the check.) Sadly we have a newborn and this was our first time getting out in a while. I am just saddened that it took 2.5 hours for us to have one drink and entrees each, due to the lack of care the staff had for anyone outside of the party of 25/ the table of two beside us that were friends with the staff, and that my husbands order was completely wrong and so I felt like the night was a big waste of money for him.

We went for Thanksgiving dinner. We had to place a deposit for our reservation. It was advertised as a family event but once we got there with our child, we were stuck in the corner by the broken restroom and wait staff hangout location. We smelled the restroom half the night and listened to the wait staff yell at each other the other half. The table, menu, and dinnerware was not kid friendly so we had to battle that all night. We placed our order and a long, long time later were brought the wrong soup. An even longer time later our food came. By this time our child was melting down. It took hours for us to finally eat and the little one just couldn't last that long. When the bill came they didn't even deduct our deposit! Good thing my wife remembered to check! Food was excellent, service was awful. It ruined our evening and an otherwise perfect day.

L
Logan Eyzenberg

We ate outside because they were prepping for dinner with many reservations which is understandable, whoever the service was awful. We waited half an hour before a waiter came out, we had to ask for water, and the food took an hour in all to come. They didn’t provide any utensils or even napkins. Absolutely horrendous.

We recently visited Talia’s Steakhouse after a wonderful experience in the past, where we were impressed by the atmosphere, live music, excellent food, and attentive service. Based on that, we decided to return tonight, but unfortunately, our experience this time fell short of our expectations. I had made a reservation for five people, but upon arrival, we found that it hadn’t been recorded. This led to an awkward situation where we had to stand between tables while arrangements were made, which felt uncomfortable. Additionally, we were disappointed to find that there was no live music this time, as it had been one of the highlights of our previous visit. The atmosphere felt more like a takeout restaurant, especially as the staff seemed inexperienced. It appeared that some of the waiters struggled with English and didn’t seem familiar with their duties. For example, I had to request a drink four times before receiving it. The menus were left on our table after we placed our order, and empty plates weren’t cleared before the entrees were served, leaving us to place them on a nearby empty table. Throughout the meal, we also felt rushed, which took away from the relaxed dining experience we were hoping for. Finally, when I asked for the check, I added the tip and placed my card inside. Moments later, the waiter handed it back, asking me to include my card and the tip amount, even though both were already there. Upon showing him, he apologized but seemed somewhat inattentive. Overall, this visit didn’t meet the high standard we experienced previously. We specifically chose Talia’s again for the live music and warm atmosphere we enjoyed before, but this time the experience lacked that charm. Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback. We hope to see improvements in the future, as Talia’s has the potential to deliver the excellent experience we remembered.

I was in the mood for a steak tonight and happened upon this place...I wish I hadn't. I ordered the ribeye with a green salad and broccoli expecting a fabulous meal. Instead I got a mediocre 10 oz ribeye of which at least a third was fat and not the type of fat that is marbled into the meat....just fat that one would expect a higher end steakhouse to trim off before serving. When I brought it to my waitress attention, she reported back that the manager said I should have ordered it with less fat...smh. He won't have to worry about me coming back to order any of the subpar and flavorless food. The price point should be a lot lower for what this restaurant is offering. No wonder why so many tables were empty...my waitress was very attentive and friendly though.

The restaurant has changed since we were last year, unfortunately not in a good way. The entire restaurant was drafty and cold, even sitting under the heat away from the door. The food was either over- or under-seasoned, and the mashed potatoes tasted frozen and gritty (in both the knishes and plain). The lamb stew was cold when it came out. The servers were friendly, but didn't really come to check in with us. We had to ask them separately for a wine menu, and neither of the wines we asked for were available (they only had 4 in stock). I don't think we would come here again unless they make some changes to their quality.

I really wish I could love this place. And I want to support kosher restaurants. But Talia's is just lacking the attention to detail that is necessary for a great dining experience. There were just two, overworked waiters. We always had to flag them down. Brisket is supposed to be soft and tender -- we had to send ours back because it was hard and tough. We ordered a steak instead but both appeared on the bill. We should not have to worry about checking things like that. We had a large party and several appetizers and side dishes never appeared. We had to flag the waiters down for them too. Even getting our water filled was a chore. Wires were hanging out all over in the corner, it did not look nice. At the end the waiter handed me my credit card back. I asked for the receipt and he said there is no paper receipt but announced to the table how much the total charge was. Not cool. Maybe I could overlook one of these things, but put together it made it not feel like a special dinner out for the hundreds of dollars we spent. Next time my wife and I are making plans to go out we'll go someplace else.

M

Waitress was nice and friendly, but I did not receive what i ordered originally. It took 20 minutes to put this right. When my main came they forgot the salad. The vegetables were raw and the kebobs were well done when I requested medium rare. Very disappointing experience.

B
Barry Rubin

Service was terrible. We were seated and the table was not set we had to ask for utensils and napkins. The food to an hour to come out of the kitchen and one of the dishes was a simple salad. The chicken cutlets were over cooked and had no flavor. This place is so over priced for what it is. I would have rated it a zero but that is not an option. The wait staff was very nice and apologized and gave the salad for free and offered free desserts.

Awful experience. My husband and I had reservations on a Wednesday and rolled in early for our anniversary dinner. The hostess, who was also our server, was incredibly rude. There seemed to be some tension between the staff members (and it was palpable!!!) and not one other person in the restaurant was friendly to us. Our server was very evidently put out when we asked her for anything and did a poor job explaining the Groupon menu, but didn't hesitate to remind us at the end of our meal that the recommended amount to tip was located on our receipt. Poor service can usually be mitigated by outstanding food, but that was not the case for this place either. The "4 course pre fixe" menu was a shared single-serving salad, a shared single-serving appetizer and two very very underwhelming entrees. We were so disappointed and uncomfortable with the environment that we skipped dessert entirely (if it was even offered, we don't really know). ABSOLUTELY not worth the $91 Groupon cost. I'm mostly disappointed because Talia's otherwise has pretty decent reviews, but unfortunately there are way too many decent places to eat both on Groupon and in NYC in general that are more deserving of my time and money.

I am sorry to report that I really had a lousy time at this restaurant. It was really cold the entire time, very drafty. I would guess it was in the 40s or 50s. Everyone in the place was wearing their coats. I would have rather they close last minute than let us sit in the cold. I’m really sorry to leave such a poor review, but until they improve their service, I think people should know ahead of time.

Avoid! Consistently poor quality food along with terrible attitude. Nothing tastes fresh or appetizing. In fact, our last order actually tasted off--beware. The restaurant does not appear clean. Please avoid if you are looking for real quality food that is fresh and tasty--much better choices all over NYC, including kosher.

G

We dined at Talia’s Steakhouse on Christmas Eve. Not only was it cold outside, it was very cold inside, so that every person dining was wearing heavy coats. Frankly, any restaurant, including an expensive one, that cannot provide adequate heating should close for the night. Every time the door opened, and it normally did not shut adequately so that we and other customers had to tend to the door to close it better, a blast of freezing air came into the dining area. We ordered a steak and the ribs, and the steak was incredibly undistinguished and the ribs were worse. The barbecue sauce on the ribs was way over-sweetened, and the membrane on the back of the ribs had not been removed, meaning that the eating experience was compromised quite a lot and some meat was unavailable. Just as well, as it did not taste any good. The vegetables supplied were apparently steamed and nothing added. Totally tasteless, and unsurprisingly got cold because of the room temperature within three minutes of arrival. Perhaps the vegetables could have been sautéed or roasted for a little bit of flavor? It seems that this restaurant survives simply because it is kosher. If we had had a choice we would have walked out in the first five minutes to go to a place that cared for its customers and had more reasonable prices for what you get. We will never come back.

E
Eli Akselrod

oh where to begin. My partner and I arrive and hurray they offer us a table. We wait OVER AN HOUR for them to bring us our food. We order drinks and when we ask the mixologist to slightly adjust the alcohol level (add a shot), she pours SIX OUNCES of Vodka into the glass making it almost dangerous to drink. We still had to pay for the now ruined cocktail. Our ribeye steaks finally arrived, and lo and behold it was NOT cooked to order, extremely underdone and COLD to the touch. Soggy fries too. If you’re gonna be one of the rare Kosher restaurants to be open over pesach, that doesn’t give you an excuse to be low quality as customers will be “desperate” to dine out. Keep up your reputable restaurant even when there’s no competition. Horrible experience.

From freezer to grill to table our steak was dry and lacked flavor. Our wait staff forgot we were there and we spent an hour waiting. We left with little in our stomachs and a sour taste in our mouths.

We came there in passover one of the only open restaurants during passover. We got there at 21 and got the food at 23:00 When we complained to the owner he said if its not good enough for u u can go. When we finally got our food it was actually disgusting the burger was dry as hell, the brisket felt like rubber, wings were cheap and cold. Music at the place was very loud we had to yell to hear each other. We asked to lower the volume and they didn’t. Horrible experience I DONT RECOMMEND!!!

I don't like to write bad reviews, but I hope some constructive feedback is helpful. We went to Talia's last night for the Persian pop-up. We'd been there before and the food was good. From the moment we walked in, I knew something had changed. The place didn't feel clean. The light fixtures were dirty and attention to detail missing. I also don't like the smaller space where they used to have another entrance door. Now it's cold every time someone walks in. We ordered one of each appetizer and main course from the Persian tasting menu. The presentation and flavor was lacking. Under seasoned and too much garlic in one eggplant dish. 2 dishes had eggplant as the base, the soup was so strange looking I didn't taste it but my dining buddies added some salt and seemed to eat it. I could tell immediately the head chef was not overseeing what was going out to the customers. The pita was good! I ordered from the regular menu, grilled salmon, because to be honest, none of the menu items from the pop-up sounded appetizing on the menu. My salmon was not grilled, was not fresh, and I did not eat it. The sauteed spinach that came with it was the best part of the whole meal. The 4 main courses from the Persian menu arrived. Also not appetizing looking except the Kofta which was definitely edible and looked okay on the plate. I tasted one more brown looking item and was awful. I don't know what it was but by this point I was really turned off and filled up on rice and pita. The rice pudding for dessert was also strange in texture and flavor. I've had really good rice pudding before so it's not the dessert itself. When introducing customers to a new cuisine, I'd recommend choosing dishes that are relatable, but also showcase new flavors. I'm not sure if it was the choice of dishes, or the execution, but I think both the presentation and flavors need a lot of work. The owner and servers were pleasant and friendly. But unfortunately, we left feeling like we spent a lot of money for a bad experience.

We went to the restaurant with a nice group of friends, but we were very disappointed with the service. The waiters were extremely slow. Our order was not brought in full, and some of our friends did not receive their meals at all. We waited about an hour for our cocktails. When we ordered dessert, the dirty dishes were not cleared from the table first — they should remove the dirty plates before serving dessert and tea. Unfortunately, after such service, I do not want to come back to this restaurant again.

This restaurant is awash with cockroaches on the walls, and they were even walking across our table. We made the owner aware of the problem and he was pretty much making light of it and amused by it. All he offered was excuses…how do you get an ‘A’ rating from the city with disgusting critters crawling all around your patron’s head and food? We were so nauseated, we couldn’t even finish our meal. Unfortunately, they made us pay in advance so there was no recourse. I am a senior citizen and can say this is just about the most unpleasant dining experience I have ever had, and I have eaten out A LOT!! In addition, we had to ask for things ie lemon and silverware multiple times. Quite shabby service for a $150 pre-fixe meal. After reporting them to the Board of Health, we were informed that this was FAR from the first complaint about them. If there were negative stars, I would rate this dirty place accordingly

I was really disappointed. I paid $19.60 for just two beers, which feels completely unreasonable. Definitely not worth the money.
