Opinions de The Throwback New York
1. Atmosphere: Throw Back is everything you want in a sports bar — energetic, welcoming, and spotless. The vibe is fun without being overwhelming. It’s lively but still comfortable enough to actually enjoy your meal and conversation. Even the bathroom deserves a mention — super clean and smells amazing. That alone says a lot about how the place is run. 2. Food: I had the **Steak & Eggs**, and it was outstanding. The steak was beautifully seasoned — and not just with salt and pepper. You can taste that there’s real intention behind the flavors. It was cooked perfectly to my liking, tender and flavorful. The fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy and potato-y on the inside (exactly how they should be), and the eggs were also cooked to perfection. Chef Santos is incredible. He makes a hollandaise sauce that pairs with the fries and steak, and honestly — they should bottle it and sell it. I would absolutely buy it. It’s rich, flavorful, and elevates the entire dish. 3. Ambiance: The ambiance strikes a great balance — classic sports bar energy with a polished, clean feel. It never feels grimy or chaotic like some sports bars can. You can tell the owners care about the overall experience, not just the food. 4. Service: Top-notch. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. My bartender, Mew, was fantastic. The owners used to bartend themselves, and you can tell — they know what a properly crafted cocktail should taste like. I even had the pleasure of meeting them, and they are genuine, warm people who clearly take pride in what they’ve built. Overall, a fantastic brunch experience. Great food, great drinks, great people — I’ll definitely be back. 🍳🥩🍹
Stopped by this new bar on a late Sunday afternoon and had a great time, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Delicious drinks, solid food, and a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
First, let me say that I’m not a sports bar person bc I’m not that into sports, however this is not your average sports bar- it’s more than that. I am a people person and I love to hang out. They’ve got games machines and great people at that! The owners are the nicest and down-to-earth people. I had The Shakedown and my wife had the special pumpkin drink. We enjoyed them so much! Excuse the photo as it is the only one I took as I was having such a good time my phone stayed in my pocket until the last minute. If you haven’t been…. You’re missing out.
Awesome new sports bar, great atmosphere, friendly staff and some fabulous cocktails. Great selection of beers and spirits.
Met the owners. The staff. The establishment and ambience. Amazing 👏. Welcome to the UWS! My 7 year old son loves to watch the games there now and play pinball. Tenders and fries for the kiddies 😋 spot on. Wishing you a long tenure here. Much needed.

Always a fun time at The Throwback! The staff is always super friendly, the drinks are readily available and the food is on point. I love that there are couches, pin ball machines and very comfortable bar stools, that just is a bonus in a world where you are sometimes super uncomfortable when hanging at a bar. Well done, The Throwback! They are also really accommodating when you inquire about large group reservations. Open to working with you re: any specials, definitely recommend and will definitely return again and again!
My new FAVORITE sports bar. Awesome drinks. The food is fantastic. Staff are super nice. Reasonably priced. I’m going in there so much, I’m pretty sure I’ve paid their rent this month. Also met the owners, great people. They’re transplants from the south, so of course they treat you like family right when you walk in the door. 1000/10
Such a great time when I visit this place! Out of all the bartenders I know in NYC, Dom is my favorite! The owner Alex has been so kind as well making sure I feel welcome. And the throwback vibe with all the arcade games is just a cherry on top. All around 10/10 bar
Certainly the best sports bar I’ve ever been to. Independently owned. Affordable. Welcoming of all folk - young, old, die-hard fans, and those just along for the ride. The food is made fresh with real ingredients (give me more Mac and cheese bites) and they offer a great selection of drinks (who knew there were more than 1 flavor of Sun Cruiser?!). The place is tastefully adorned with classic memorabilia and even a few arcade games. Pennants on TVs indicating who’s playing was a cute touch. Our server Christina was fantastic. Cheers Throwback - thanks for a genuinely grand time!
We hosted a Super Bowl party at the Throwback and it was terrific! Brittni was amazing to coordinate with in advance and the downstairs space with pinball machines and TV's was perfect for our crew that included kids. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, the food and drinks were plentiful and delicious. We will definitely be back and for those folks looking for a fun and inviting space for a party you should consider the Throwback!
I planned a surprise party for my fiancé at The Throwback and it was absolutely incredible! The staff was so welcoming and made the space feel homey and comfortable. We had the downstairs area for our intimate event, and it was perfect. Brittni and her husband, Alex, were SO helpful—truly couldn’t have asked for better people to work with. We will definitely be back!
I was just at The Throwback on Monday and had a great time! I sat at the bar and enjoyed wings, sliders, and drinks and was happy to discover the wings were 50% off for happy hour! Everything came out quickly and was delicious. The atmosphere is chill with a bit of a sports bar vibe. I loved that Bravo was on alongside the football game haha! Best of both worlds. The bartender on duty, Santiago, was really wonderful. He was easygoing, friendly, and really nice to chat with. I went in by myself, so it was fun to have nice conversation. But I also noticed that he was also so attentive to the whole bar. I’ll definitely be going back!
The Throwback UWS is an absolute gem and instantly became my new favorite spot on the Upper West Side. It truly lives up to its name, offering a delightful trip down memory lane without feeling forced. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is electric yet cozy, making it perfect for a casual drink, a date night, or catching up with friends. The decor is meticulously curated—think classic memorabilia, neon signs, and just the right amount of vintage charm that makes you want to look around every corner. The soundtrack they play is pure gold, instantly lifting your mood and setting a fun, relaxed tone. But the experience isn't just about the ambiance; the service is phenomenal. Our server was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive without hovering. As for the food and drinks, they've perfected the blend of comfort classics and modern twists. The cocktails were creative and delicious, and the kitchen clearly cares about quality. If you’re looking for a place with character, fantastic vibes, and a genuinely warm welcome, look no further than The Throwback UWS. It’s a definite must-visit and deserves every one of those five stars!
We had the absolute best time here! Owners Alex and Brittni were so flexible and easy to work with. We hosted a party for about 20 people downstairs and it was perfect. The space is great, it felt like being in our own living room. Michael, the bartender, was helpful all afternoon making sure drinks were filled! The team made it easy for our friends with kids with all the games. Overall, we love The Throwback!!!
Mary Grace was amazing! She noticed right away that we weren’t enjoying our drinks without us even having to say anything. She went above and beyond to fix them and make sure we were happy. She also reminded us to make ourselves comfortable and truly made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Excellent service — we’ll definitely be coming back because of her!
My family of five, including a 5-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 3-month-old , had a wonderful experience at The Throwback NYC. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and extremely accommodating to our little ones: they helped arrange seating for the stroller, provided extra napkins, and were patient with requests kid-friendly meal options. The atmosphere struck a great balance between lively and family-friendly, with its retro-sports décor and relaxed vibe, it felt comfortable without being chaotic. The food and drinks exceeded expectations too: tasty, satisfying meals and an easygoing bar menu , perfect for parents who want a meal out while still keeping an eye on young kids. Overall, The Throwback made what could have been a stressful outing into a fun, relaxing, and memorable family dinner. Highly recommend it for parents looking for a casual, kid-accommodating spot on the Upper West Side.

Great new addition to Amsterdam ave. Sports/pub/lowkey vibe, great wings (and 50%off on mondays) - I believe my bartenders name was Santiago - really kind and attentive. Positive vibes all around.
Quintessential neighborhood watering hole and sports bar, wicked tasty chopped cheese and gotta try the wings! Top notch drinks especially the Whiskey's and Beer's. Totally awesome staff they make this bar feel like a home away from home.
Love this place! First off, the staff is very friendly and very inviting. Super accommodating! The atmosphere is awesome! Love all the memorabilia! So much nostalgia on the wall! And then the food! Everything I had to eat, so far, was excellent! I only have good things to say about this place. Definitely recommend!

This is a place the neighborhood needed for quite some time & it has been bustling since it opened (I was customer #2 & take that with pride!). Every person who works there is a delight & are having as much fun as you are. The owner & his family are always around making sure their vision of this bar is being executed. The pinball machines are a fun touch. I’ve not eaten much there (for no reason), but have had the wings and fries - both were outstanding. Their hard liquor selection is really interesting & not your typical Tito’s and Absolut. Couldn’t recommend this place more - I just hope you don’t take my seat at the bar!
Pretty good! Went for their first day of brunch service -- for the burrito, I would say more salsa inside, and less salad on the plate 😅 The French Toast rolls were good for sharing
A very cozy environment.Good drinks, good service. Would definitely come back when in the neighborhood.

came in on a monday evening around 9:15pm - I’ll say this was the monday after a big snowstorm so I’m hoping they were understaffed but even with 2 bartenders/servers and only 3 parties there, the service was super slow :/ luckily the food was so good! my friend and I split the throwback appetizer and totchos. the former was so delicious I’ll be dreaming about it 🤤 the aforementioned bartender from these reviews unfortunately lived up to his reviewer experience of being attentive to only one regular and really ignoring the rest of the bar. my friend even commented that it was a good idea to sit at the bar, otherwise we’d likely be completely ignored :/ the food and vibes were good enough that i’ll definitely come back, but maybe some attention to these repetitive reviews ab the lack of monday night bartender attentiveness would do some good :)
I used to wonder what a bar that paid for a bunch of good reviews look like. Now I know. The bartender insisted that we walk up to the bar to give our order, even though they were three people at his bar and one table in the bar area. This is Monday Night Football playoff with the Steelers versus the Houston Texans, and he had the TV all on different stations and only one on the game until I asked him to put it up on all TVs. When I did ask him if he was gonna put it on the TVs, he said, “I’m actually going to turn them all off. Of course I’m gonna put the game on the TVs, what kind of sports bar would this be if we didn’t have important games on the TV?” Never mind that four people had walked in to his empty bar in the last half hour, and he didn’t say a word to them until they came up to the bar. Never mind that he was having beers and shots with one of his regulars and ignoring the other people at the bar. Never mind that when I asked for a refill of diet soda for my wife, he didn’t add any ice and just poured the flat Diet Coke over the top of the water down Coke that was already in the glass. I seriously think he must be the owner, he’s a billionaire, and it’s just looking for a tax write off. The food was made, but the girl who cooked it at least came upstairs and talked to us, so we knew we weren’t in a twilight zone episode, where people who work in a bar don’t actually ever talk to you. I can’t recommend Blondies enough. Super helpful staff, they were super fast, and they were packed for the games yesterday. Way different than this place. The picture of the excellent Bartender is attached.

I came here watching a 3pm Devils Rangers hockey game, but stayed for listening to classic rock. I read on the website about classic rock and banner and live music from 8pm onward with doors opening at 7:30. I was here early for watching sports and thought what the heck, let me stay later for the live music. Well, I was super surprised when 8 came around and there were a bunch of folks that looked like young students, particularly Asian, that were standing around crowding the place. Turns out I was sitting here starting to listen to a Jewish or Hebrew sermon. For 30+ minutes I heard mute audible words that couldn't make out. NOT anything related to classic rock music. Truthfully, this was my first time at this bar and while I could say the wings were decent, the fact that I finished the night in disgust and disappointment is an understatement. I DONT CARE ABOUT RELIGION OR YOUR OWN BELIEFS. WHEN I GO TO A BAR THATS THE LAST LAST THING I WANT TO HEAR. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS, I WILL.
