Surf Club Ocean Grille - Wyndham Oceanfront

Awesome environment, great food, plentiful portions, overall great place-well above the normal. Had the steak bites appetizers, phenomenal flavor.

Awesome restaurant at the Wyndham. Wait staff was great and food was terrific. First meal was the hamburger and fries combo special. Second, the wife had the Salmon and I had the 3 Tacos. Nice bar area with 5 or 6 big screen TV s. The house red wine was a good choice. The happy hour prices are good. The outside seating has a terrific view of the ocean just above the sand and boardwalk. This is the furthest north restaurant and hotel on the beach in this area.

I can't wait to go back and the whole staff's quite amazing! Our last night there we had the absolute best bartwnder in Virginia Beach! He resembles Albert Einstein! Don't forget to look for Kai and give him loves!!

The resturant is right inside the Wyndam Hotel and has a great view of the ocean. The staff is extremely friendly and Jessica, our waitress had great recommendations! We tried the crab dip with pita chips and couldn't stop eatting it. Their happy hour specials are also pretty decent. Wednesday's are discounted burgers and $5 bourbon -- great combo!

Russell, our waiter, was amazing and very friendly. The atmosphere was great and there is a great view while the sun is up. I felt very comfortable with Covid and social distancing of tables. This is the first restaurant we’ve been to in the past year and I will return. We got the lava cake for my birthday and it reminded me of a s’mores with a hint of a marshmallow somewhere with the chocolate. I normally don’t eat seafood but went out of my comfort zone with the crab dip. Normally eating in restaurants stresses me out with the noise and I eat fast to leave fast, but I felt very relaxed in the atmosphere.

Nicki and Erin were terrific, food and drinks were delicious.

Service was prompt, friendly, and very reasonably priced. The crab dip is really good, the nachos with chicken and mahi tacos were amazing, the mussels were amazing. Mixed drinks also are super tasty, I recommend the dirty banana or this massive 32 oz rum bucket one.

Their breakfast and burgers were great. The staff was very nice.

Chicken wings were excellent. View of the ocean was excellent. Drinks were good. Sweet potato fries were covered in cinnamon and sugar - surprising but enjoyable. Next time, I'll ask for salt, no sugar.

We had an excellent experience. The food was wonderful. The portions were good. It's in the Wyndham and right on the beach, so it was a little noisy even though not packed. We sat right by the window. There were people with dogs that walked thru to go outside, so if you have an issue with dogs, you may want to avoid or ask for a table away from the window and door. With people going in and out of the door, it lets in a draft that could get chilly, so you may want a sweater or to sit elsewhere. Our server was attentive and answered the questions we had. They have an early bird happy hour for mimosas and bloody marys for brunch, so we took advantage, and they were tasty too. Our food took longer than we expected based on how busy the dining room was but it's in a hotel and they were also doing room service so we enjoyed each other's company and watched the waves.

After trying many seafood restaurants that were rated highly on the beach, we tried this one, the one at our hotel last. We should have tried it first! The food was the best seafood I’ve had in Virginia! We got steamed shrimp, Blackened shrimp, mahi tacos and my daughter got a salad and the kids macaroni and cheese. Everything was so so delicious and the service was fantastic. Our waitress was Brittany and she did a fantastic job!

This is my first trip to Virginia Beach. Tonight we stopped into our hotel restaurant and bar. The seating hostess was amazing. I did not catch your name. (Sorry)She was very attentive and we had very little wait.. there was a live band playing tonight they were really good!! We had a server by the name of Kaitlynn (spelling? Sorry) Kaitlynn was amazing. She took the time to sit down and talk with us about the Neptune festival, currently going on this weekend and where to visit, and what attractions and nightlife we can enjoy. We had so much fun tonight. PLEASE stop by here… take care of your bartender and waitstaff and be prepared to have fun… j

We ate there everyday due to staying at the Wyndham hotel. Everything was delicious, friendly and fair priced. Eat while beach watching. Indoor and outdoor dining.

Mary was a very kind and attentive waitress! she engaged us in good conversation and gave us ample explanations and recommendations! the food was hot, fresh, and tasted delicious! even though there wasn't many people, we still received stellar service!

Diana was an absolute delight! Not only was the food wonderful but when I asked for herbal tea she got some for me when they typically don’t offer it! The salmon was amazing and the service was absolutely phenomenal! Thank you Diana ❤️

Let’s start with management Diane & Roberto! Fantastic! Food, atmosphere, views, vibe and staff are great! They have something for every member of the family as for events and entertainment. It’s a full one stop shop of fun and great dining.

Great service, sat at the bar, drinks were good and food was really good...made changes to food when needed easily. Live music in evening. We really enjoyed ourselves!

Pretty Nicki and Extraordinary Erin exceeded my expectations. Customer service was amazing, food was superb and they both were extremely attentive. I most definitely will be returning every time I come back to the beach.

This was convenient for us because it was in the bottom of the hotel Wyndham that we were staying in. The first day we came we were sat at the bar immediately the service was friendly and very fast. I got the old Bay wings, which were the crispy wings I’ve had in a very long time. The second day we came we had a bit of a wait even though the bar was pretty much empty. I ordered a bloody Mary, which was decent and we sat at a table by the window to enjoy the beautiful beach of view.

We had brunch at Surf Club Ocean Grille, and it truly felt like a dream come true! Sitting right in front of the ocean, enjoying our favorite meal and drinks, was just magical. The vibes were perfect, and we loved every moment of it. Can’t wait to go back!😄

The food and drinks are decent not amazing, but with live music, on the beach, and the best wait staff Virginia Beach it's definitely a good choice for lunch or dinner if high brow foodie fare isn't your top priority.

We had a reservation, but when we arrived, the previous party was lingering longer than expected. Initially, we considered leaving, but the kind hostess offered a thoughtful suggestion that encouraged us to stay. The hostess, who was stepping into a waitress role for the first time, truly exceeded our expectations. Zoey, you were absolutely wonderful! I sincerely hope they recognize your hard work and promote you in this new role. You embraced the challenge beautifully and really made our experience special. Thank you!

I enjoy this restaurant for location, scenery, convenience, and food. Maybe install some fans outside to keep the flies away. But the overall ambiance is nice. Being able to walk to breakfast with your family in the morning is wonderful. Having a happy hour while you stay is equally enjoyable!

We had a decent experience at Surf Club Ocean Grill, but a few things held it back from being great. I ordered the catch of the day tacos, which happened to be cobra. The flavor of the fish was actually quite good, but the portion was really disappointing—it only filled about half the tortilla lengthwise, which made the dish feel a bit underwhelming overall. The drinks were okay—not bad, but nothing particularly memorable. We also tried the wings, which were actually pretty good, with a nice flavor and decent crisp. The cheese curds were just okay—good enough, but lacking the pop you hope for from a shareable appetizer. The highlight of the experience was the friendly staff. Everyone we interacted with was kind and attentive, which definitely helped improve the overall visit. In summary, it wasn’t a bad meal, but not something I’d go out of my way to return for. There’s definitely potential, but the food portions and consistency could use some improvement.

Gave food a 5 because I didnt have any. This was our hotel restaurant, breakfast was too $$, and not we were wanting a buffet so we went elsewhere. Atmosphere was good. Great ocean view. Had Drinks at happy hour.

The lunch special was two courses for $15. I ordered the seafood chowder and fish and chips. The chowder was tiny and almost completely potatoes with celery and carrots, did not see nor taste much seafood. The fish part of the fish and chips were two very small pieces but they were cooked very well. The chips were potato chips, which the waiter explained to me, and they were good. The fish came with three sauces all of which were very good. The service was good and the wait staff were very nice. All in all just $15 was a lot for a rather small lunch. The view of the ocean was great!!

Food was decent as was the layout of the place, and they are pet friendly which is a big plus, super super slow service though.

Breakfast Buffet extremely high priced 30/person including milk for poor quality tasting food and limited options. Sausage links clearly freezer burned. ZZ Top music playing at 8:30 in the morning. No option to order off menu. Understaffed. Beautiful view but windows so dirty that it obstructs the view for nice pictures of the beach. Will not return for tomorrow’s buffet.

Just for waiting for more than an hour for your orders. I would have given it a three, but how long does it take to make nachos and tacos. Three orders of nachos, a beef and two chicken. They were okay, but not much in it. Very controlled portions on the shredded chicken and beef, and just not much for $15 each. They were more generous with the nachos that was served to my friend though. Not consistent to ours. The chicken tacos were good but again not much in it for $11 each order. Frozen margarita was just okay; it needs to be a bit sweeter to balance the bitterness. Overall, the live band and the beach view were great, but the service and the food were not. I might go back when they are not as busy…maybe. I did not know what happened to my photos; I just found two and I took a lot.

Ordered a bucket margarita ,a burger, a crabcake sandwich, and a Mr. Pibb. The bucket beverage was horrible tasting, it was the mixer. While waiting for the food the bartender informs is they are out of mixer so it was improvised. Didnt ask us if we wanted anything else instead they just tossed some limes and lemons in some other beverage to mix the tequila with. Then the food arrived, burger looked good and was enjoyed by other member of my table. But the crabcake sandwich, yikes!! Mashed it to fill the bun and was greeted by a large black hair, it was inside the cake. Inform the server and she asks me if I want another sandwich, I replied just a crabcake no bread. Ok no problem and walks away to the kitchen. She never removed the carb cake with the hair from the table. Brought out the new cake and still didn’t remove the plate with tainted crabcake, just dropped and go. I eventually covered it with a white napkin as it was dead before it left the kitchen, good thing I mashed it. No discount on the tab for the no mixer and bad tasting bucket, nor for the chefs hair in the crabcake. (Pictured below) Only thing you could take away was a meal with a view thats it.

Menu is boring, though the fish sandwich and salmon that we got was decent. There was some very micro racist behavior on the waitstaff that will keep us from ever going back.

Did the Thanksgiving buffet & it was not worth $69 - NO mashed potatoes & NO sweet potatoes??? For Thanksgiving?! Are you kidding me! The turkey and roast beef were pretty good, but the sides were kind of gross, I mean, who would eat broccoli casserole for Thanksgiving? 😩 The bread was hard as a rock & mac & cheese's noodles were crunchy. Some of the sides just weren't anything that I see for Thanksgiving, so I just didn't eat much. The desserts were OK. The waitress was frenzied & it took forever for us to pay our checks, but we did have a large party so that made sense. I feel pretty bummed that my Thanksgiving meal was less than par, esp for $69!! I definitely do not recommend this place for food. The view is absolutely beautiful, it's just too bad that the food was not very good.

Came for breakfast as a hotel guest. Food left much to be desired. Bacon thin. You get tater tots instead of potatoes. Eggs are eggs so that was okay I guess. The server was great, attentive. Atmosphere was meh. I mean its a hotel restaurant. What else can you expect. But do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Missy G was my bartender/server tonight and it took an hour and 35 minutes for me to get 2 drinks and an order of wings. She asked for my ID, which was totally fine, but when she saw I was not a local, she ignored me and catered to the local guests instead of providing the same service across the board. The drinks were okay but I’m extremely dissatisfied with the service tonight and Missy seemed extremely overwhelmed. The one other server wasn’t even old enough to pour drinks, but kept coming up behind the bar. The wings were fatty and not a good food choice. I will not be back and honestly it wasn’t worth the money to sit there and be ignored. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth for this restaurant/bar/hotel.

Made a reservation a week ago for the Mother’s Day brunch and they lost our reservation and turned us away. Thought maybe going back to the venue we got married at would be nice. We had family come in from out of town under the reservation that the staff neglected to add to the system. While they chased their tails trying to figure where they went wrong, we saw and advertisement for the wedding expo and considered registering our business to participate but quickly reconsidered.

My wife and I live in Virginia Beach but decided for our first anniversary we would have a “stay-cation”. Chose the Wyndham because of the location (off the board walk) as well as the Surf Club Ocean Grille (meaning we would not have to leave the hotel). The reviews seemed so good and we were looking forward to eating there. Went down for lunch on Saturday. We were seated right away in the almost empty restaurant (other than those at the bar). We sat there for 15 minutes and no sign of any server. We decided to leave but saw the manager and hostess on the way out. Told them we were leaving due to the lack of service and the greeter shrugged her shoulders. Such a bummer…wonder how they got so many 5 star reviews Murphy’s Irish Bar it is

Food is absolutely horrible. Steak was supposed to be medium rare it came well done. The rice and potato medley is awful. The catch of the day had no flavor. The only thing decent were the fries and Parmesan wings. We told our server and the only thing she offered was to go ahead and check us out. $162 for 4 meals that we left mostly uneaten. Do not eat here. Drinks only.

We visited Friday at about 6:45pm. Two adults and 2 young children. The band they had set up in the dining room was playing at FULL column. This is a hotel restaurant. At that time of the evening it should be set up for families. There was no way we could sit down with the kids in that noise. The patio was quiet, and the weather was nice, but they were not serving out there. It's such a a shame that this restaurant continues to disappoint. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The food is always mediocre and the service is hit or miss. The decor has a hospital cafeteria vibe.

Had my business Christmas party here, from the start it wasn't what was promised to us. No private room or appetizers already prepared or anything. Waiter was horrible no multitasking skills and just bad service. Asked to have the manager reach out to me and still nothing. VERY DISAPPOINTING! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL
