We’ve been here for a few times since its soft opening. The service and food quality have been consistently great. We had a big family dinner tonight and ordered a sushi combo which has been the best sushi platter we’ve ever had!

Tanoshi Japanese is such a great hidden gem in Walnut Creek. The sushi is incredibly fresh, the rolls are beautifully prepared, and everything tastes high quality. You can really tell they care about both flavor and presentation. The menu has a great mix of classic favorites and more creative rolls, and everything we tried was consistently delicious. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, making it perfect for a relaxed dinner or a nice date night. Service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Easily one of the best sushi spots in Walnut Creek — highly recommend.

Great variety of Japanese cruisine. They have a safe system to take care of my food allergy grandson. I improve my rating because they did well in handling for reheating the baked scallops and salmon collar from near raw to medium rare.

We had an incredible, delicious dinner here! The flavors they put together are very impressive, including some of the most well thought out veggie sushi I've ever had! The staff are attentive and kind plus the rolls were made very quickly. The garlic edamame started us off in the right direction with a beautiful melody of sesame, spice, and warmth. This may be our new favorite sushi place in the area!

A new sushi restaurant in the neighborhood 😋. The choices they offer are unique with a large menu to choose from. The servers are quick to bring your food and clear plates as you finish them. The sushi chefs all greet you when you enter. The contemporary atmosphere looks modern with comfortable chairs. They have a private room for parties and some booth seats. I suggest making reservations. We will return.

Very good sushi spot for both rolls and nigiri located in Walnut Creek. Tanoshi is a newer restaurant, and my friends and I were surprised to see how clean and modern it looked inside. They had a huge array of dishes and we enjoyed everything very much, including their nigiri selection which was pretty fresh for a sushi roll joint. Highly recommend trying their baked scallop appetizer! Would recommend making a reservation as it was surprisingly busy for an early dinner on a Thursday evening.

When we arrived for lunch at the restaurant, we were greeted with a friendly welcome by Kate and seated right away. The ambience was very clean, modern and new. The service was very attentive and friendly. We ordered a sashimi package for 3, 4 rolls, a teriyaki bento, and a few appetizers. All the fishes were fresh, the rolls were delicious, the bento according to my son was good, and appetizers were very tasty. The place and service were amazing. Kudos to this new restaurant and we will definitely be back!

Tanoshi is 5/5! I’ve been here at least over 7 times and Tanoshi has been amazing each time. Amazing service and delicious food! I’m a huge fan of their Tanoshi Combo Specials. 10/10 recommend! I also love the Tanoshi Jumbo Combo! I was so surprised because of the sheer amount of food we got. Lastly, their tanagi kushiyaki (tamago and unagi skewers) are my favorite appetizer! Love love Tanoshi!

This was my first time dining at Tanoshi Japanese Bistro, and I was truly impressed! The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was equally amazing🙏friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. I’ve tried many restaurants across California, and this one definitely popped up on my personal best list. If you’re visiting Walnut Creek, (Oak Grove Road) I highly recommend stopping by Tanoshi. It’s a gem worth experiencing!

Our first time here, and we'll be back! A slight wait on a Saturday night but they take reservations which we'll do next time. Seated in a decent time, so no complaints there. Pretty large menu to choose from. We ordered two dinner combos and a Tokyo roll, and the two of us were stuffed! A plus is the tesla super chargers nearby.

Attentive service, good portions, pretty presentations, good value Rather modern fast food delivered to your table quickly.... Not your warm , cozy quiet space but very friendly and inviting. No complaints from my experience.

The restaurant is clean and we'll appointed. Staff were all friendly with excellent service. The food was delicious. We will happily return.

Three of us got the bento boxes with sashimi and tempura. All the food was of good quality and quite tasty. The price is also reasonable. I would definitely return again.

Great food, however, the noise level is very high. Very difficult to have a conversation. They need to add carpet to reduce the noise. We just ate there a third time, the spicy chicken, spicy beef and vegetable tempura are all great!

Visited Tanoshi at WC twice. Both times absolutely impressed with their sashimi plates and tempura, but quite disappointed with dishes . Specifically with uni pasta - probably most expensive entree. For $27 you get bowl of noodles drowned in very greasy sauce with some red caviar and slab of uni on top. Couldn’t finish even half of it. Also, tried some nigiri- also hit or miss . Saba (Mackerel ) and hirame( flounder) were very fishy , while Sake ( salmon) and Unagi were great. Looks like future visits will require more precise selection from their menu.

Food is good but wish the management would listen to the comments on the noise level and the brightness. It is lit like a fast food restaurant not a nice dinner place. Dim the lights and add some carpets and plants to create a better atmosphere.

If you are hungry, this is not a place to be. Being here on a weekend and the place is packed. If you did not made a table reservation you will be waiting for at least 50 minutes. People packing the place and servers are running like a chickens with their head chopped off. Food is OK like most Japanese restaurants.

I was served an udon beef soup except there was no slices of beef. There were bits of beef with scraps of fat attached. It was gross! Won't be back. Plus, the place is loud!
