Opinions de Yan's China Bistro & Bar Walnut Creek
Best and freshest Chinese food in East Bay! Great staff, super friendly and fun atmosphere to drink wine. Amazing wine list to select from! Highly recommended!!
I’ve lived in Concord for the last three years and could not find any Chinese food tasted good. Finally found one fried rice was on point and the sweet-and-sour chicken was delicious. 9 out of 10 must try again
I ordered Mongolian beef and black beans sauce fish filet. Both are super delicious. Highly recommended.
My Favorite Chinese restaurant in Walnut Creek with a World Class Wine List
Great food and not cheap.
Delicious food! Very tasty, fresh, good price, and good quality chicken compared to other Chinese places. *Crabmeat cheese puffs and orange chicken*

Wonderful food + service! Prices were reasonable. Decent portions. Enough left overs for lunch tomorrow 😋.
Food was very tasty. I had the garlic eggplant lunch special, which came with soup, salad, and rice. The portion was generous, so I have enough for lunch tomorrow, too.
Went there for the first time with my brother-in-law and his wife not knowing what to expect. It was around 5 and they were just opening for dinner. Plenty of parking in the back, off the street. Walking in from the back you walk past the galley and see several chefs furiously working their woks, preparing some of the nights features over roaring gas flames. The decor is like you'd expect, somewhat dark, but we were seated in the empty bar station where there was still some daylight sneaking in. Service was prompt and attentive. We ordered some apps and they came in minutes. Our hosts had been before so we let them order for the table. I'm sorry that I can't be specific about what each dish was, but I can say every serving we had seemed better than the one before. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The food was as good as any Chinese food I've ever had. Every bite was singing with flavor and was outstanding. We will back.
The food at Yan's is amazing and they have an extensive unique wine list with lots of French wines to choose from. Best of both worlds. Some of my favorite goto's are: Yan's baby back ribs and dry cooked stringed beans (with pork). Their hot & sour soup is tastier, hotter and sourer than most other restaurants I've tried in the area.
This place is a JEWEL. The staff is sooo accommodating. The food is the best I've had in years. Hot and sour soup with a flavorful broth, veggies and tofu that my hubs actually enjoyed eating. Perfectly cooked rice, deliciously seasoned broccoli beef and mu shu pork - tender meat, crunchy vegetables, and plum sauce that isn't overly salted. They really care about what they put in front of you and it shows. We ate there on Sunday and Wednesday of the same week. I wish they were closer to San José. But since they are not, any trip through the East Bay will have to include a meal at Yan's.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Enjoyed the sweet and sour pork and the chicken chow mein. For appetizers enjoyed the pot stickers and the wontons filled with crab and cream cheese. It was delicious and authentic! The service was wonderful and the ambience of restaurant was warm and inviting. There is parking at the rear with entrance at left side of building. There is a painted mural in the outdoor rear patio which is the entry from the parking lot. 😋

Order Through Doordashed, food came well packaged. Salt and Pepper Pork Chop were really good. As for the sweet n sour, I wish they put more sauce. Would have been nice to have some spring rolls instead of a Salade (salade dressing 🥜 is tasty) . Maybe add that option or soup 😊.

Have been here several times. Liked the food a lot, great variety. Exceptional wine list, especially for a Chinese restaurant, lots of good choices. Has very decent selections at bar also. Ghis has become my favorite Chinese restaurant in my area.

Super delicious Chinese soup place! The Pork and Chive dumplings were solid. The Spicy Wontons were fire. The noodles definitely had a fresher taste to them but being paired with the broth was key. Heck. Fresh was the entire theme for the whole soup. Every ingredient tasted like it was handled with extra care. Definitely coming back for the food, service, and to support their family owned business.
Lunch was good and the staff was attentive; readily seated, lemon water available; first served a small salad; then hot and sour soup; the meal came quickly. Had green beans with chicken and fried rice. Green beans were cooked perfectly and tasty. Thin slices of chicken with sauce were also good; fried rice was a tad bit dry but good flavor. Overall, happy with the meal. Also tried my daughter's sweet-and-sour chicken, which was also good.
We ordered the beef noodle soup, Sichuan chicken, fried rice and salt and pepper tofu. The beef noodle soup did not take likes traditional Lu Rou Mian the sichuan chicken tasted great but not as crispy as it could have been and the tofu had minimal flavor.
Very friendly and extremely fast service. Too bad the food is just blah! For instance, i had the chicken in spicy mango and all i could taste was the cloying sweetness of the sauce (no heat at all!) And the thick cornstarch coating they fried the overly large chicken pieces in.

Yan's China Bistro & Bar is a standard American Chinese restaurant. The restaurant caters to the American taste. The bar is the highlight of the restaurant. We had high expectations when we went to dine at this restaurant. The ratings were 4.5. After dining we thought it was over rated. The food was bland and tasteless. Maybe we ordered the wrong food. Please try this restaurant and determine for your self. The service was exceptional and the food was served hot.
Disappointing Chinese food. Had hoped for more in the Bay Area. Maybe I should have tried something in San Francisco itself. Had the Mongolian beef which was almost tasteless and the spicy tofu - what a joke - spicy??? It was pretty much as tasteless as the Mongolian beef. I had to ask for chili paste to spice it up. Best part of the meal was probably the white rice. Would not return here. The photo may make it look good, but don't be fooled.

Update to this review, post pandemic - food is more expensive with smaller portions. Usually, I order take out. The interior does not look inviting esp since the main area is set up for pickup. The worst is that since the staff change , they don't seem to be happy that you decided to spend your money with them and they don't even remember when you are a repeat customer. For these reasons, I choose not to visit this place much. Previous review: love that they don't use msg. So I don't have an allergic reaction to the food. Just wish the food tasted better. I have not found any place better than SF in the East Bay. This place can tied me over till I can make a trip over there - it is better than the several places I've tried in Walnut Creek.
