We had a walking party of 24 today. I was nervous that there maybe hiccups the pub was outstanding with their service accomdation of a large party organisation and the food reports were all good. Thankyou to all the staff and chef

We stopped in at The George Inn and had a brilliant experience. Between the three of us we ordered the hanging kebab lamb kofta with truffle fries and Korean cauliflower, plus the steak frites – and it was bloody lovely! The food was cooked beautifully and full of flavour. The staff were polite and attentive, and the service was efficient – we were in and out within the hour without ever feeling rushed. A great spot with quality food and friendly service – highly recommend!

Had a lovely lunch today. New menu since I’ve last visited, which had good choices and great value for money. Food was well presented and very tasty. Look forward to going for lunch very soon.

Fabulous Inn, rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The restaurant has a lot of choice on the menu to suit all tastes. Great location, conveniently close to Longleat and Stonehenge.

Lovely cosy room and welcoming staff. 4 stars for location, felt out the way (although on a main road) maybe just because I'm a towny.

Stopped in for an anniversary lunch and it was fantastic. We ordered the full fish and chips and the beef and pork burger. The fish was super crispy, exactly as you would expect it to be. The burger was cooked to perfection and very juicy. The mix of fries and chips between the two meals respectively was lovely. Mel’s customer service was second to none! Could not have asked for better staff, so friendly and attentive, even given the incredibly busy atmosphere! We will definitely be back!! 😁

I’ve actually been here twice in the last week and both times I must say the staff have been super friendly and helpful to myself and my dogs even bringing treats to the table The food is good and reasonably priced being vegetarian it’s nice to have lots of options. One negative I would like to point out is both times I have been the ladies toilets have a horrible drainage smell I don’t know if they were just having drain problem ? And they generally look like they need a good clean

Fantastic food, fantastic value fantastic service. We will definitely be back. Our server, Claire, was excellent and very patient with us. Drinks were brought to our table rapidly. I cannot fault anything.

I can’t recommend The George highly enough! Absolutely fabulous late Sunday lunch for my Mum’s 90th birthday! All 10 of us adults, a child of 7, (and a baby!), had an amazing time at The George! The menu was varied and catered for all, even our daughter who has a dairy allergy. The young girl that served us (?Annie) was perfect! She was friendly, fun and kind. (Special mention also to Skylar, Tom and the other young man that took our order.) They were all superb! True gems :) Even the decor was beautiful! The food was hot, and incredibly delicious. Several of us had the Sunday roasts and the chicken/gammon/beef was so tender. Others had the fish & chips and raved about the perfect crunchy batter! Lovely range of desserts too and a very thoughtful touch of having half portions available, especially as the main meals were so plentiful. Mum was really, really delighted when the waiting staff, and others from the bar and kitchen, came out singing Happy Birthday with her cake! (BTW: Mum is in a wheelchair and access was level and no problem at all.) Thank you all of you at The George. You made Mum’s 90th birthday such a very special day!

We spent a night at The George and it was really very nice. The inn is on a busy road and although you can hear the traffic from the room, it's not loud. Our room was very nice , we were luckily upgraded to one with a four poster bed which was very comfortable. The room had a good sized TV, Nespresso machine and DAB radio, also a fridge and a charging pad for a phone. There was a problem with the heating when we checked in, but the manager was able to resolve that quickly. We had lunch in the restaurant and the Sunday roast was very good. There is a good selection of beers, including the local Stonehenge brewery. Breakfast was also very good and freshly cooked. The inn is dog friendly and even has a menu for dog treats, a nice touch. Our room could have used some paint touching up, particularly the skirting, but other than that it was a lovely stay and I would definitely recommend it.

A Gem of a Pub – A Must-Visit in Warminster! I’ve had the absolute pleasure of visiting The George Inn in Warminster recently, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best pub experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by an amazing team – genuinely friendly, chatty, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure your visit is exactly what you’d hope for. Whether you’re just popping in for a drink or sitting down for a meal, the hospitality is second to none. The food is of very high quality. It’s clear that a great deal of care and attention goes into every dish. The flavours are rich, hearty, and exactly what you’d expect from a well-run country pub – comforting and satisfying, but with a real sense of pride behind every plate. The surrounding grounds are ideal, especially for families. There’s a wonderfully thought-out garden space with football goals for both the little and big kids, a play area for the younger ones, and even an outdoor bar that’s perfect for soaking up the sun on a warm weekend afternoon. It’s also worth mentioning that The George Inn is dog-friendly, which is a huge plus. It’s lovely to see a venue that so warmly welcomes four-legged visitors too – perfect if you’re out walking and fancy a stop with your pup. My go-to spot during this visit was The Orangery – a beautifully lit, peaceful space that’s perfect for catching up with friends or even getting a bit of work done in a more relaxed setting. The Wi-Fi is excellent, which made it an ideal place for me to get some work done while enjoying a coffee and the calm surroundings. It’s a fantastic facility that adds real flexibility to the venue. There are three separate dining areas, each with their own atmosphere – ideal whether you’re after a quiet meal or a few drinks with friends. I’ve been told they get busy, especially at weekends, so it’s definitely worth booking ahead to secure your spot. The bar itself is spacious, well-stocked with a great range of beers and ales, and there are even a few stalls for those who prefer to perch close to the action. All in all, The George Inn offers a superb balance of warm service, quality food, great facilities, and a relaxed yet lively atmosphere. Whether you’re local or just passing through, it’s well worth a visit. I’ll most certainly be back again!

Lovely pub, beautiful decor throughout, in keeping with the age of the pub, beautiful dining rooms, and cosy knooks. friendly efficient professional staff, great menu, reasonable prices and the comfiest bed 😊 Would be a great venue for special occasion hire. Beautiful gardens and plenty of parking space. Definately recommend.

Arrived after a long cycle from Winchester. Reception and check in was quick friendly and efficient. Service in the bar and restaurant was also really good and the food was great too. I could not recommend highly enough

Me and my wife have just left the George, We stayed for three nights and had a great time. The staff were great, food was lovely.....the room was bright and spaciouswith everything you need. Great location and sure it comes alive in the summer. Locals were all really friendly and the quiz night was fun. Highlight was meeting Mike (the manager) His sense of humor and sarcasm was a breath of fresh air. We will be returning when we come to the area later in the year. 5*

We stopped off for a bite to eat with our two kids after visiting Stone Henge and found the pub to be inviting and warm, with lovely staff and quality food! This pub is a gem and I wish I could take it back home with me!

From the minute we arrived staff were friendly , helpful and offered great service. Our room was clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable . We had a great selection of teas, coffee and biscuits. A coffee machine snd hairdryer were both a nice touch. Dinner and breakfast were delicious . Thanks to all the staff.

A truly wonderful experience! The room was as charming as advertised, with all the luxuries from a big hotel. The food was incredible, and the service was very warm and friendly. A definite must stay!

Great friendly service. We ordered using the QR code on the table in the garden which is a lovely place to sit. Food was really good, definitely no complaints.

Room was spacious and clean and nicely decorated. We had the four poster room. Dual aspect windows meant the room was nice and light, but the nets on the road side aren't long enough to maintain your privacy. Similar issue in bathroom, if you open the window, you have to close the blinds fully otherwise everyone from the petrol station and road can see you in all your glory through the open window! Would be helpful if the coffee pods were labelled, as hubby just took pot luck. The fresh milk in the fridge is a fabulous idea but you need more of it (a bigger jug). We enjoyed a few drinks in the sunny beergarden which is very pretty with a stream running through and a little pond. Prices were good although apparently we did catch happy hour, so that might have helped. Ate in the evening, and there was absolutely no atmosphere. We were the only table in the part we were seated in and there appeared to be one or two tables all the way down the other end. My food was excellent (lasagne) although I wasn't asked if I wanted chips or salad and I think most would find the portion small (but I have a small appetite and it suited me). The staff whilst friendly and approachable seemed to lack any service training and were not as attentive as they could have been. If returning to the area, we would stay here again.

We had a good meal here but I am knocking off a star because I feel a bit cheated. The menu said, for each 'adult meal' ordered between 3-7pm on weekdays, one kid eats for £1. We did so but then got charged full price for the kid's meal because, unbeknown to us, the 'set menu' doesn't count as an adult meal, they said. This exclusion isn't mentioned on the menu; see photo.

An impromptu evening visit for a family meal. Staff were friendly, service was good, as were the food & drinks. As a bonus, we just caught the tail end of happy hour at the bar. Although the starters & mains were reasonably priced, some of the sides could have been included with the meal (salad, slaw, Etc). Personally, we thought the dessert menu did not offer value for money. Would recommend & will revisit.

Decent food and drinks. Great service from one of the staff members but (what seemed to be) the assistant manager wasn’t very good at making sure we were good. Tried to charge a 30% service charge which was quite cheeky. Hope that tip just went to the male who actually made it a good atmosphere.

A lovely pub with a friendly atmosphere. Had a delicious roast dinner. My only complaint about that was it didn't come with any stuffing which I thought was odd. The staff are very friendly. We had excellent service from our waiter called James. The pub is dog friendly. It's so lovely to be able to eat indoors with a dog, so many places locally are not dog friendly.

Never spent a night in the Rooms so can’t comment but everything else gets a big tick from us. Staff are friendly n helpful without losing that professional edge and the food we’ve had is amazing ..particularly recommend Full English brekkie…nice location…nice olde English feel..what more dya want !

Meal only. Quite poor service, average menu and the quality was just ok. Drink prices are high. Lovely looking pub with lots of tables and very nice outdoor spaces.

I went here for Sunday lunch after passing for years and wondering what it was like. I wasn't overly impressed. The food was quite good, although again I ordered nut roast but what was served definitely wasn't! But it was tasty and served in about 20 minutes. The place itself looked a bit shabby and the road is unfortunate as it's so busy there's really no getting away from the traffic in the garden. Toilets were also bit grubby. I expected better. The bar person gave us drinks and then disappeared before we could order food. No one checked if the food was okay once it arrived. I wouldn't go again mainly as the location and feel of the place just wasn't good.

14 quid and change for x2 pints... 🤯 I'm sure the lady behind the bar must see my reaction constantly! Not her fault, but I spluttered a little... The pub was clean, tidy, open, and pleasant enough, but 14 quid for a couple of pints seems... excessive. We could have carried on 10mins into Shaftesbury and spent less...

We stopped for food on a Sunday. They were serving Sunday roast. We ordered two roasts, roast vegetables salad and a burger. Overall all the meals were disappointing. The main meals came with unlimited potatoes and Yorkshire puddings but you wouldn't want extra. Both felt like quickly reheated. The vegetable salad was very oily and was abandoned. Even the chips with the burger were very dry. The main bar staff were very helpful but we won't be stopping again.

Noise transmission between rooms is fantastic, except I don't want to listen to BOTH sides of a phone call from the room next door. TV sound comes straight through too. Grubby rooms. A poor experience.

Came for dinner and were very disappointed by the food. Service was good, not many gluten free options (my partner is celiac) but staff were accommodating. The food however was pretty bleak. Not sure if the chef was having an off day or what, as most reviews seem to be positive. I had the chicken souvlaki which had very little chicken, was greasier than a 3am kebab and absolutely drowning in sauce. My partner had the 1/2 chicken which I can only describe as mummified. It looked and tasted like it had been reheated or sat under a heat lamp drying out for hours. Not what you want for almost 20 quid a main...

M
Mollie Barrington

Genuinely nothing redeeming about this place. The 'service' was terrible, the food was bad, portions were small, poor quality and overpriced and we even had to take some chicken home in case one of the party got food poisoning from it. The drinks were equally as extortionately priced. We won't ever go back and I would never recommend it to anyone.

Did not want to leave such a bad review but having emailed directly and not even got a response I thought I had to. On arrival staff were not welcoming, food was awful, prawn cocktail had prawns in a cocktail sauce that were not peeled so with each mouthful you had to pick shell out, pate was not set, salty and sloppy, marinated chicken not marinated, dry and tasteless served with limp watercress, the place had few customers and we were not surprised, £80 for an awful date night experience. Team were very young and could use direction on customer service. So disappointed.

We have been here a few times, and it has been lovey, so we looked forward to coming today as a treat, but it was absolutely terrible! There wasn't one thing right with any meal. Firstly the starters: Fully loaded hashbrowns with added bacon. It came without the bacon and then after my partner mentioned this, they returned about 10 minutes later with a small bowl of bacon after he had finished his starter. So it was completely pointless. The next starter was the soup of the day, it was tomato soup and absolutely disgusting. Massively under seasoned with toasted stale baguette (not crusty bread as advertised) and no butter. The mains: 10oz pork rump steak. This hadn't been marinated and was horrendously over cooked and dry. Had no flavour and was hard to swallow. Second main was the sticky fried chicken burger. This was awful. The burger bun was burnt and literally black. The chicken burger was not sticky or fried, instead was a regular battered chicken burger which appeared grilled. The sauce was on the burger bun and not the chicken. The burger didn't have any spring onions. It tasted disgusting and after getting home, I have been sick. The other main was a kids cheese burger which was completely inedible. The burger bun was burnt and black and the burger was so dry she couldn't swallow it. All of this was an extremely disappointing experience not to mention that the place was crawling with flies walking over the tables and cutlery. When we said about the disappointing meals, all they done was take off the kids meal off the bill and apologised and said there is new chefs so they will keep an eye on it. Honestly it was absolutely dreadful and we won't be returning. I would suggest everyone to avoid this place. Massively disappointing and disgusting.

Carly Aviss

Do not trust the "Kids Eat Free" Offer! So, it's the summer holidays right? Kids Eat Free offers are everywhere, helping families enjoy the holidays whilst helping to lower the costs of eating out. Well, imagine my dismay at being told that our meal was not eligible for this offer at point of payment, despite checking twice, with two separate members of staff that our order would work with this offer. When you select a venue because of an offer such as this, its for a reason and there was absolutely no interest is helping us, despite me explaining that we had checked with staff already that we could get this. It's disheartening, disappointing and down right dishonest to go back on your word, particularly on an offer such as this. Needless to say we will not be back and will not be recommending this place to our family, friends or business colleagues.

S
Samantha Pearson

Room was clean and nicely presented, unfortunately the walls are paper thin and could hear the conversation of the people in the next room as if we were in it, not to mention hearing her moan and groan at various points which was perfect when our 6 year old was with us. Service in the restaurant was slow, several things had run out by 6pm, the lasagne was cremated and they automatically added a service charge without giving an option for this to be removed. Definitely would not stay in one of their properties again

Having visited the garden centre we were all hungry and saw this place on the main road was busy ! i dont like leaving bad reviews but unfortunately it was disappointing we ordered 3 roast beef Sunday lunches, the meat had been left on a hotplate or something like that it wasnt fresh .I couldnt cut it let alone chew my way through it and it was all coldthrough that so I conceded and complained and asked for chicken instead. That arrived cold again! with cold potatoes not roasted most of it wasnt cooked we left all three meals paid over 60 pounds to the manager who didn't ask how our meal was as hes tired of hearing the answer cold undercooked served on a cold plate where the staff are primed and ready for complaints . Waste of time and money for me im afraid . There busy due to passing trade only .

Walked In to have a drink and enjoy a good time with my group of 9 friends. We walked into the restaurant as we were very tired from a long trip and decided to use the toilets and also enjoy few drinks. The lady working on the bar on Monday 27 of Oct at 7:30 was very unwelcoming and refused to serve us and said they cannot accommodate 9 people when half of the pub was empty and said we were only here to use the toilets. The ladies attitude came across as being racist because she ignored us and served the other person who was behind us in the queue and it just made me and my friends feel uncomfortable and anxious.

Awful customer service and very unwelcoming, Saturday afternoon family day out arrived for drinks and some food, we were happy to wait and enjoy the afternoon but were made to feel like we were a burden and not wanted. One member of staff saying "for God sake they will take up half the pub" and another "the mind boggles that they just turn up" We went somewhere else where we were welcomed and spent lots there instead and the food was great... blessing in disguise!

I had the lamb hanging kebab. Very overpriced. 3 bits of lamb, thick cut courgette instead of mushroom. Dry flatbread and veg not oven roasted, appeared to have been par boiled and then maybe roasted for a short while? My partner had the pork and chorizo hanging kebab again disappointed and my mum the chicken kebab with only 3 bits of chicken. None appeared to have the dressing on them? Very disappointed and over expensive.

Over 45 minute wait for Sunday lunch. Sadly the beef was so tough I couldn't cut it and the parsnip was raw. Excellent service from the waiting staff but througnly disappointed. My partner had finished his just lunch before mine was served.
