Loved this pub, great location, lovely views, huge easy access/exit car park, plenty of seating indoors and out. Decor was very nice. Great music too, bit of Fleetwood Mac and Foo Fighters, not blasting out though. The staff were very friendly and very efficient. The food was very good. Will definitely be going back.
Dating from 1589, this inn holds the first beer licence issued in Dorset. Unfortunately, the inn has burned down twice in recent history, but parts have been recreated in the original style. Large extensions, plenty of seating inside and out, and a large car park. Good selection of beers and food. Friendly staff. Much the same from the outside.
Had not been here for years and what a pleasant and vast improvement from my last visit A great pub in the middle of Dorset Countryside with well manicured grounds, loads of our side sitting and tables, small kids play area ,lovely lush lawns.... bird song and farm tractors!! Plenty of Parking too. The best but was inside,a great well modernised but tastefully retaining the 14th Century feel of a home and pub. Down side not many Ales on tap😭 however the menu and food made up for it Great presentation and the food was tasty and worth the wait. Will be back with friends and family.
Super lovely Pub / Restaurant in a large, convenient location in Dorset. Greeted by a lovely lady who sat us down & showed us the specials menu & regular Menu. Atmosphere was lovely. Food was 10/10!! Piping hot & speedy arrival, extremely well presentable & super tasty. Staff very attentive & making sure everythings as it should be! Will for sure return.
What an absolutely amazing place! The manager was really friendly and welcoming with a wealth of knowledge about the history of the building and the surrounding area. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was indescribably delicious. Cooked to perfection, with chunky fluffy, crisp chips that could almost transport you to Nirvana! Every member of staff made our visit well worth the almost 3 hour drive and we will definitely visit again, which gives us a good reason to explore more of Dorset!
Excellent lunch with family here today. This pub is quite expensive but the food and drinks are excellent. Today we enjoyed steak, haddock and lamb. Menu has a good selection of meals to suite all tastes including some vegan and gluten-free options. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant but need to be well behaved. Plenty of parking and close to the main road makes this place very convenient.
We chose The World's End on a bit of a whim, as the local pub to where we were staying was closed for the evening. My goodness me what a great choice we made! The food was incredible and service was exceptional. Both the waiter and waitress were extremely attentive to our needs and held very pleasant conversations. Our bill was on the higher side but we didn't hold back on our choices of food and drink as it was a special evening for us. The only critical observation made was that it was uncomfortably warm, although not too chilly outside did feel overly warm. Obviously can't please everyone when it comes to temperatures! Absolutely would recommend to anyone I know passing or visiting the area and we will definitely be returning on our next trip.
Me and my fiancé visited this pub for the first time today and were blown away! The pub is beautiful on the outside and the inside, we were welcomed by very friendly staff members who were all kind and attentive. The food was incredible - some of the best pub food we've ever eaten! The drinks were great too. We will definitely be coming back :) thank you for an amazing experience.
1st time here. Can't believe I've never heard of this place before. Food was perfect. Did half n half with the wife on a brisket burger and haddock n chips. Lager was the cleanest and most refreshing lager I've had in ages. Total bill can to £59 for a starter, 2 mains, a side, n 2 drinks each. Venue is amazing. Great beer garden, plenty of parking and service was excellent. Will definitely be back again.
Absolutely wonderful in every way. We were so impressed and felt so lucky to find this beautiful thatched pub. The setting couldn't have been nicer. The food was excellent and the service was really really wonderful. Lots of praise for the staff as, unfortunately, it seems so rare to find people so welcoming, friendly, attentive, and just doing a great job. All together, it was a really great experience, and I would love to go back as soon as possible.
Booked a table for this evening just this afternoon and so pleased we did. From start to finish the staff are amazing. The pub should be super proud of how they are all trained in fantastic customer service from start to finish. The food was absolutely unreal. Not had a meal out that’s this good in a long time. Cooked to perfection and super fresh. Huge portions and so reasonably priced!! Gorgeous outdoor seating area and they clearly take pride in the pubs appearance and cleanliness throughout. Can’t wait to return asap with our little one next time as we noticed a great little park out the back in the field attached!! Well done all. An absolute Gem of a place we are pleased we have found!
We visited The World’s End on the 28th Dec and absolutely loved it. The pub itself is stunning, set in a lovely location and very easy to get to off the main road. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and the food was really lovely. Everything felt relaxed and well looked after. We are very much looking forward to returning soon.
We had a large booking today for a Christmas gathering, it was the first time at this pub and we were very impressed. The food was great and came out hot and all at the same time. The service was amazing and a nice atmosphere with the fires being lit.
Food was great value for money. Definitely one of the better pub servings around but it was the service which led to leaving a review. Might not be much to others, but it seems to have become the standard for service to be as basic as possible, with any amendments to menus or even asking for additional sauces sometimes eliciting a sigh. But the ladies yesterday were so nice and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, and everyone was upbeat and pleasant to be around. Really top notch service and people. If this was what they are like for a normal Sunday, I can imagine holding events there must be an absolute winner.
1000% would recommend as a wedding venue! We had our wedding reception here 20.09.25 and are so glad we did. From our first enquiry and meeting with Lyndsey we knew this place was special. The pub itself and the garden, patio and barn make it ideal for wedding photos. We hired the pub for half-day, dropped all our decorations off in the days leading up to the wedding and the Worlds End put these up for us so it was all set ready for our arrival on the day, they did an amazing job with this. The running of the day went very smoothly, everything was taken care of and the food was delicious, we felt we were in very good hands and they could not have been more accommodating when our plans changed last minute due to rain causing us and our guests to arrive earlier than originally planned. To Lyndsey, Stephen and all the team, thank you for making our day so special! The Goodlifes P.s. Luke says thank you SO much for the brownie!
A stunning looking large country pub. It’s not too far from me (I’m in Upton). Kids play frame out the back and a nice large court yard area for the summer. Great drinks selection. Nice real fires inside the pub. Food is always great. Service is excellent and friendly. Very family friendly and dog friendly.
Popped in here for Dinner between Christmas and New Year. It is such a lovely historic pub. The staff are happy to tell you about the history of the pub and even give you a printout of the history and old photos for you to look through. We were served quickly; the food came out in good time and the service was amazing. Food was also delicious. Will visit again next time we are in the area.
This Pub should be on everyone’s list to visit when in Dorset or travelling through. Driven past time and time again over the last 10 years and never stopped. Finally had the opportunity tonight, so took it on route back home. The food is nothing less than exceptional from starter to main it was cooked to perfection. I had the Duck Egg with Black pudding which was 5 stars, then main course was venison. My partner had the fish and chips to which I was shocked that even down to the mushy peas was home made. Cannot shout enough about this place, will Certainly be putting it on our go to list for food and drink! Value for money here in how it’s cooked and portion sizes, ignore any previous comments on portion sizes and value, there talking rubbish! Thank you to all the team for the hospitality which extended to our dog and a home made burger patty. 5 stars all day long
A perfect Sunday lunch in a truly welcoming pub! We had a wonderful meal here and couldn’t fault a thing. Between us, we tried the black pudding with duck egg and the king prawn with focaccia starters — both were delicious and beautifully presented. For mains, we had the chef’s roast of the day (lamb) and the beef roast, and they were absolutely mouthwatering. The meat was cooked to perfection, and we especially appreciated the generous individual portions of vegetables. The service was excellent throughout. Lyndsey and Stephen are fantastic hosts, and their team couldn’t have been more friendly or attentive. The pub itself is spotless, with a rustic and homely charm. The grounds are just beautiful and there was also a craft fair on so this was nice to visit also. It’s also dog-friendly, which was a lovely bonus! We’ll definitely be back — a real gem of a place.
We really enjoyed our visit to this pub, the food was beautifully presented and very tasty. The service was excellent and everybody was very friendly and there is a log burning stove and really nice character with lots of beams making it s cosy place to dine. I would highly recommend.
We had the pleasure of meeting Steve the Owner and learnt some history about the property. Him and his Partner were so very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and more importantly freshly cooked. Will definitely return and every time we meet our friends who live in Blandford we will visit . Thank you for a great experience.
I travel to over 40 pubs per month . As a Surveyor. This public house is fantastic. The lovely location it is in. Also the building itself. The Staff are friendly polite and very helpful. The food was excellent as nice to see a change of Roasts. We ordered a Roast sharer. Which was a cut of lamb stuffed. On a lovely wooden server. With a pot of gravy which was full of flavour and had an excellent taste. This came with accompanying Roast potatoes/ mixed veg. Fresh locally grown. As you could taste the difference. Also cauliflower cheese. Plus fantastic fresh made Yorkshire puddings. This feast was only £36. The Manager was very attentive throughout. I would highly recommend this public house & restaurant. As it was a fantastic experience. Many other public houses. Could learn from this public houses. Glorious 👍
There’s a sharp left turn off the A31 that we nearly missed that takes you to this Jewel in the Crown of Country Pub meets Gastro Restaurant! The Worlds End at Almer is aptly named as you need go no further for delicious food, very reasonablly priced drinks, friendly and exceptional service and an impeccably clean pub, in a beautiful location with countryside views. Steak was just perfect - cooked medium rare and tasty, succulent meat. Fish and Chips was extraordinarily good - a cider batter was crisp and Flaky Buttery Fresh Fish inside - The minted mushy peas were “top drawer” obviously made with just picked fresh mint…. Portions are substantial and I loved the pint of local cider recommended by Annabelle (what a fantastic barmaid and a credit to the business!) Steve the owner was friendly and rightly proud of his establishment. The atmosphere here is relaxed and nothing too much trouble. The chef and kitchen team deserve a round of applause! A perfect place with the sunset view from the front garden prior to the cosy interior on this chilly spring evening. I couldn’t resist “a pudding” and had the Chocolate Marquise with caramelised banana and peanut butter ice cream…. Just read those words again add a spring of fresh thyme and you’ll be imagining the heavenly decadent flavours. Cappuccinos made with good coffee were a splendid end to a great impromptu evening out. We will be back for Steak Special on Thursday next month. Highly recommend this Dorset Delight!
Lovely pub have a wonderful outdoor seating area in the back. Foods was goods, had 2x kids meals (Fish&Chips with Brownie for dessert only £10 each). And also had a Smoked salmon with cheese ciabatta and normal Fish&Chips. All are very tasty and staffs were friendly.
Lovely place classic look thatch roof groomed perfect Inside is a classic old world.feel with reclaimed wood giving it a beautiful old time.feel the service was impeccable and the food was stunning this place is well.worth a.stop by and have a quiet drink or some good.food
What a beautiful pub! First visit for me and won't be the last. Popped in with my dad for a pint, stayed for 2 and had some delicious food. The fire was on, atmosphere was relaxed and we were warmly welcomed. Plenty of parking also.
Popped in for a late lunch and had the most amazing cauliflower Kiev on a bed of couscous and pomegranate seeds. Accompanied with cheeky chunky chips and a lovely NZ Sauvignon Blanc.
WOW what a beautiful pub, great service and very good food. Perfect stop off. Also allows dogs inside. Thanks for a great visit. Will definitely be back when we head West again.
Ideally situated on our route to the West Country, I always look forward to a meal at the World's End. For us this is an idyllic country pub, and as a bonus they even allow dogs in the bar area, where the full menu is served. This is a warm and inviting pub at any time of the year, the ambiance well enhanced by the staff who are genuinely welcoming. Food is very good, prices what you would expect for the quality and location.
Stopped here on the way to Hampshire, they were able to fit us iin for a Sunday roast even though they were booked in the main restaurants, the roast was lovely, we didn't have to wait long either and was great value for money.
Great place, lovely wine (the best), amazing food, such a lovely atmosphere and amazing friendly staff! Can't wait to come back and visit again !
What an amazingly high-quality pub/restaurant. The outdoor dining area in the walled garden has superb planting, plenty of space, and loads of summer sun : ) Food was top quality, along with wine and the ale. Landlord kindly let us park overnight for a couple nights (Britstop), while we were off cycling in the lanes. Don't know if I can think of a better manicured pub and garden. I recommend it heartily.
We ended up at Worlds End after a terrible car journey so we were feeling tired and irritated. Fortunately there is a big sign on a main road otherwise we wouldn't have known it was there as the pub is hidden by trees and bushes. It was at an odd time in the afternoon and we weren't sure if they would still serve food. We turned off the main road and was surprised to find a beautiful old pub with a big car park opposite. We walked in and were greeted by the super friendly staff. We sat outside on a huge patio with our dog. There is a big garden, almost a field, with a kids play area. It was dog friendly and there were some other dogs there too but the patio was big enough for us to sit far apart as our dog is nervous. The food was delicious, hot and quick to arrive. The portion sizes were good with big pieces of fish with the fish and chips. The ice cream they serve is amazing. I would highly recommend the food, service, atmosphere and pub in general. Thanks to the staff for being efficient, friendly and kind to 4 weary travellers.
We hadn’t booked but were made very welcome by Steven the owner, the restaurant had been fully booked but he found us a really nice table next to the fireplace , great food , cosy traditional pub and wonderful service .. hadn’t been here for 20 years but we will be back in the New Year for Sunday lunch .. highly recommend
Went on 30 Sept, great vegan/ veggie options. Be warned that portions were really well sized, which was a good surprise. Nice service too.
Popped in for a couple of drinks haven’t been for a few years, lovely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly and welcoming, did make us want to return for a meal
Absolutely amazing pub and the team that work there. Welcoming and lovely and even asked if my little one wanted to feed the local animals. Thankyou all.
Service with a smile and a jolly atmosphere inside. Visited for food only and did not stay overnight. My partner and I both had the house burger which was to die for! A solid and tasty beef patty in a toasted bun with a bucket of fries is always a winner! 🍔 🤩 Passing visit for a quick stop to eat after a long drive. Easy access with plenty of parking. Was busy when we visited so service was slower than we would normally expect. Slightly on the more pricey side.
Ideally located in the beautiful countryside. The service was slightly slow but the food was really nice. There was plenty of outside space to sit outside and eat. There was not much cover or any heaters if it is cold. Be prepared for slow service if you're in a rush
After being recommended this establishment we were very disappointed. The food menu we were given was totally different to the one on your website. The starter I had with a ducks egg and black pudding was not very warm. My mother had a child’s cheese burger which was burnt. My partner accidentally spilt his drink and the staff just gave him a tea towel no effort to mop the floor where most of his drink went.. we were not even asked how the meal was whilst we were eating. So sadly we will not be returning.
Beautiful Pub. Friendly staff. Dog friendly. Disappointing the only two slices of beef with the roast were extremely tough and fatty. Asked for dessert menu, disappointing as no puddings with custard, no cheesecake, just fruit, ice cream and sorbet.
Didn’t end up dining here because they turned us away despite arriving over 30 minutes before when both their website hours and Google hours said the kitchen closed. Plenty of space but they just couldn’t be bothered. It’s one thing if someone comes in 5 minutes before closing but your posted hours should be your posted hours, especially when you’re a ways away from a town or village and people have to drive to come find you.
We've visited here before and it was lacking. So we decided to try again. Drink order was easy but got it wrong. When ordering my steak I asked rare to medium, the waitress said lets go medium to rare, said no as I like it more rare. Arrived medium to rare !! Other half ordered the pork, dry and no taste to it. Hardly any sides with both dishes. Mystery Diner needs to visit.
Lukewarm burger although flavour was fantastic. Kids pasta appalling, bowl hot, cold pasta. Apologies I can't work out how to reply. We never received a check back nor did we see anyone floating around to pull to one side. When we paid we had to go up and never ask how was our food. The lady said card... We said yes, that was it and then she said bye. She wasn't remotely approachable to talk to And quite frankly looked like she would rather be anywhere else. We have been here numerous times before and the service has been great and also the food has been really good. Sadly it has put us off.
