I went there with a friend who said they have the best chicken. Also that the chicken is served freshly cooked. We arrived shortly after opening (It was not any of that rewarmed chicken left from the previous shift like you might get at some other chicken establishments). I ordered a two piece dark with fries and a drink. My food was still hot when we got home and absolutely delicious. I will definitely go back!

Service was quick, cashier was friendly. Most importantly, the chicken here is really good. Been here a few times, haven't had a bad experience.

This food is awesome. I seriously would recommend coming here. There chicken, corn, and rolls are my personal favorite foods. Oh and there fries.. omg. There fries are sooook good. The only thing I don't like about chicken express though is sometimes the food is soggy. Generally this happens once around 2-3 months. Not just that though, but sometimes the window people are extremely rude and charge more for no reason! And it kind of makes sense because the line is always super slow. Besides the food, the inside of chicken express is really cool. I would recommend coming here. (But be prepared for the staff.)

Awesome service. I ordered two 3 pieces fish combo's, at 12:42. I was given a 12 minute wait time. At 12:58 I was wondering where my order was, so I ask. There was a nother 1:40 second wait time. At 1:03 I was refunded my money and given my order due to the wait time. We will return. Thank you!

We pulled up at about 950 pm. I knew it would be a gamble if they still had food, but they still made fresh tenders for us even though they closed at 10. It took a little longer than the time they said it would, but I can't complain when showing up so late. We had just finished a baseball game and were starving. Good chicken tenders, biscuits and fired dill pickles. Family meals offer the best value. They also have really sweet, unsweetened and half-and-half tea in gallons.

We like this chicken. Occasionally we do a take out. My husband is not supposed to have fried foods. Since he is a cancer patient, I just wanted him to eat.

My grandson loves their chicken. It has a very crunchy coating, rolls and gravy are very good, and everyone loves their sweet tea.

Food was delicious. Waiting 20 minutes in medium length drive thru for 20 tenders at 7:15 pm is not acceptable. Management, you need to step it up.

Pretty good specials tenders are good, great assortment of sides and very well proportioned. They serve coke have styrofoam cups. I've yet to try the chicken on the bone but I'm waiting on a special and I'm sure it'll be good. Fried pickles were 1.99 for a regular side which was bigger than an appetizer at a restauran and very good. Certain sides requires a long wait 10min that's the reason for the 4 stars. My family praises the tea, I don't drink tea so...

This is a good chicken house location. I'm particularly thought of their tenders and their parking lot is generally not packed so you can get a parking spot close to the door and generally fairly speedy service. At times they can be more expensive than other places is best to try to go whenever you can get a coupon. Their staff was friendly

While their fried chicken is the last thing I would go there for, it's okay in its own way. The express tenders, however, are quite good. But, the main attraction is most certainly their sweet tea. I go there just for the tea sometimes, as many people do.

I have always received quick, friendly customer service! Food always tastes fresh. I love coming here on my munch break because I know I'll get a quality meal quickly!

I'm originally from ennis about 20 minutes away and the chicken tastes just about as good in hachie as ennis. I still love the food and I LOVE the sweet tea. Only 3 stars from me though because of the staff. Way too many kids that just wanna talk to each other and when you ask them for something look at you like you're crazy and just asked a completely stupid question. I'm all for teenagers getting a job, but don't put the ones with sorry attitudes on the front to deal with customers

I truly love Chicken express, but lately..smh.. Twice I've gotten rotten chicken, when I bit into it, the taste & smell was rotten and disgusting . They gave me my money back at one time & another time they replaced my meal. I went the day before yesterday just for 5 sweet teas and they took 10 minutes just to give me that, while they were giving out their orders with drinks to the people behind me, plus the cashiers apparently now ASK if you want your change back. The line was like 10 cars long and every order placed at the drive thru took forever. When I finally got to order they didn't have chicken ready so 5 more minutes. This used to be my favorite chicken place. The kids they hire need more training and/or supervision. The chicken was at least fresh hot and tasty.

So I went to this establishment today and I am very very disappointed, my chicken was barely hot and tasted hard.... not fresh at all!! $6.57 for this and this is with a dollar donation, Really also no napkins!!!! The only plus about this visit is the tea was good,guy at window was nice somewhat and I got 3 of those hard wings...

Service here is incredibly slow, partially due to people rotating around the various positions as needed. You would think that makes it better, people able to shift and cover one another, but instead it means none of the employees ever know where anything is at in the process, and they don't communicate with one another. So person1 hands something off to p2, p2 barely knows what's going on but they hand off their stuff to a p3 who doesn't know where p2 was and then forgets where they were to start with, and it's all a bit of a mess. They can have tons of food sitting there ready to be boxed up and handed out, but the communication and initiative isnt there, so you might wait 20-45 minutes for food that has been sitting there ready for you the whole time. Some days are better than others, but I would rank this in the top 3 of Slowest Fast Food in Waxahachie.

I had to wait 35 min. to get my order and two other people had to wait almost as long. No one apologized or seemed to care that I had to wait. It was not that busy and they had lots of workers so there is no excuse for poor service. On a positive note my food order was correct and very good.

We live very near this location and have gone there many times. We have noticed that service is increasingly poor. We received probably the worst this past Saturday. We pulled up to the drive through and ordered 2 drinks. The line was long, which was to be expected on a Saturday, but we even made it up to the window without anyone even acknowledging we were there with all of the cars behind us getting served before us. I finally had to flag someone down and the response was "yeah, its a mess in there...what did you have". I told him never mind and left. Very disappointing.

Ordered the gizzard dinner and got 3 full ones and 5 little pieces looked like they cut the gizzards in half. Always get them and gave always had plenty until today. If that's the way they are giing to be then we won't go back..

Normally I am NEVER EVER a person to leave reviews about any place I go. But today I just can't let it slide. I myself am a huge lover of Chicken Express. Easily in my opinion a better place than Raising Canes and much cheaper. But today I visited the one in Waxahachie Texas and I just have to say I have been here a good few times and each time it gets just worse and worse. The employee taking my order seemed kinda rude but maybe she was having a bad day. But that's not my real issue. My issue was the food. Yes. I could have EASILY walked up to the manager and talked to her about it but I don't like causing a scene. But this time my food was just all cold and gross. The fries which I love were just disgusting the chicken wasn't it's normal juciness and the gravy was so runny I could have just used a straw and drank it. It asks my to upload pictures but I can't upload temperature. If I could. The pictures would be cold as this food was.Please. Just. Next time. Give people fresh food.

I eat a a lot of chicken express all over Texas. This one by far is the worst. Meals were almost double the price as other chicken express. Tenders were half sized. Definitely do not waste your time or money there. Manager I guess just sat on his phone the whole time we were there

I enjoy my food when I go BUT I absolutely dislike how they stuff everything in those boxes including sauces & napkins. That is so unsanitary being that the napkins are exposed to all types of dust & hands. And the sauces are constantly being touched. My husband asked for an extra roll & they stuffed it in there as well 🤦🏽‍♀️ As expensive as this food is, Chicken Express is not hurting for money to the point that they can't use bags or additional boxes!!!

The chicken that I got was dry, hard and like it was cooked last week. It was not hot and the fries were greasy! I was more than disappointed when I got home and opened the box!!

Ordered fish filets on January 8, 2021. They were like eating fish jerky. They had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. Never had that problem before. Every other time we have been there (almost weekly) they were cooked fresh.

It was my first time to try Chicken Express. I went inside the store to order, and store was so warm that i believe AC must have been off. There were so many flies around the cashier desks, which is open to the food preparing area. I have ordered and waited for 25 minutes to get my order! It was crazy how long it took them to get me my order, i was so close to ask for a cancelation and a refund. And finally after i got my order and went home, the order was missing items! I don't live in the area, plus i didnt want to go to this store ever again so there was no point in calling or complaining... Food tasted ok, but with their low level of hygiene and slow service i wouldn't go there ever again.

Lord help the young and ignorant! Honestly the chicken isn’t much to talk about so I won’t. It will stop hunger if you don’t like to cook. The staff however is composed of many non caring, non working millennials. You hear so much talking and laughter you can hardly be heard over the drive thru intercom. Forget trying to get items they missed on your order. You feel like a UFO when everyone just stands there looking like they don’t know what to do. Makes you wonder if management is ever in the building.

This time it was bad everything was so over cooked

So last night I paid in both cash and card just for the simple fact that I don't like carrying cash. Came home and finally checked my bank app just to see that the guy took my cash but still put all the bill towards my card. Tried to call back and explain but they manager cut me off and told me there wasn't anything he could do unless I take him proof so I told him i still had my receipts he said those weren't any good that I needed bank statements and they home office number which is no good.

Their coleslaw always has way to much vinegar in it. Can't eat it, and the white meat is awfully dry. I'll give them another chance because I like them. It's like they don't care anymore.

I would give chicken express 5 stars if they actually had chicken after 9 o'clock. Close at 10 but you have to wait over 20 minutes if you arrive after 9 for them to cook from scratch. Why not just close at 9? You would think the owner would want to offset his labor cost, of having ten teen agers standing around on his clock, with SALES! MAKES NO SENSE! It just keeps getting worse! Went by at 8:30 tonight and already out of chicken. Can't believe they have "Chicken" in their name. Why do I keep trying? Because my wife likes their chicken. Obviously, the owner doesn't care!!!

Drive thru orders get priority alongside the latest gossip the cashiers have to spread. We called ahead thinking we would save them time and save us the headache. Yeah, no. I was told on the phone "we will have it ready to you by when you come." I even told them an ETA. We arrive, and our order was nowhere in sight. They started working on it after we paid. Three walk in customers got there order before us. Their excuse " we gave the catfish to another customer. We're waiting for more." Ridiculous. Twenty min after we walked in, 45 minutes after we called, it was ready. I had to talk my husband out of cancelling, getting the order refunded, and going to church's. Lesson of the day: Don't bother ordering ahead. Go through the drive thru.

Food was literally uneditable

I had a very similar experience to Heather Byington. Ordered a 8 piece mix and they said it would be a while. I was fine with waiting but I literally sat in line for 30 minutes while the people after a before me got served. Twice I asked about my order and the young lady said it would be right out and waited another 10 mins and asked again, she said the same thing. The whole time nobody even bothered to tell me what was going on. Most of the people inside were just standing around too.

They say, new management, but there was no manager, from what I could tell. We waited 15 minutes for our food, then the food was cold. They will lose a lot of business if they don't have some type of order and training.

I just made it home from Chicken Express. I order the 2 piece fish fillet combo. I received 2 pieces of overcooked cold fish and literally about 8 fries. I took a pic of it as well.

I was given chicken that tastes like it sat there all day and stale corn nuggets. When I called to speak to a manager they told me because I hadn't called the same day they couldn't help me. I placed my original order at 8:00 p.m. that evening. My life does not rotate around Chicken Express. I had other things to do with my evening and thought I was doing my due diligence by calling by the next day. I hate when restaurants act like you're trying to get free food when they know exactly what they did. They know they gave me old food they've been sitting out all day. I won't be coming back!

We were the first customer today. My Mom had a doctors appointment and often when she does we stop through to get the fish. I ordered a 3 piece fish combo and a fish snack pack. We live 35 to 40 minutes away. When we got home my Mom who looked forward to eating her fish had a 3 piece chicken combo. To look at her 76 year face with disappointment say it’s chicken in here baby. I call them and they were oh well you paid for a chicken combo. I said that’s not the point, we ordered a fish combo with okra and they were hard as can be. To be their very first customer of the day and not have remorse for their error was very disappointing. My Mom said well I won not be back.

I was charged multiple times using Apple Pay. This establishment refused to give me my food. It’s sad that I showed the manager that the charges was still coming in on my account. He said it was showing declined but I have proof of payment!! So far it’s $62.64 depending on the amount of times my card was charged. I want my money back!!!

I’m not one to give 1 star reviews but I’m honestly fed up with this chicken express. The other one on the other end of 77 is way better. This chicken express is constantly a disappointment. The management is poor and I think I have had maybe 1 good interaction with workers. Every-time I place a very simple order and almost every time they some how get it wrong. I literally sat at the intercom tonight talking to the girl who couldn’t understand a word I said (which isn’t her fault) they put what I wanted on the ticket and it was still wrong in the box. It’s very frustrating and annoying. I have so much more too but I don’t have time to go into detail- Especially when I was a door dasher. I have been contemplating writing a review because I didn’t think it was worth it but at this point I’m fed up. I hate that I have to drive to the other end of town just to get good food and good customer service from a chicken express. I understand they are busy and probably short handed but if you can’t do something for someone and it’s a continuous thing then what’s the point of being open? And if you don’t have something tell your customers- it’s Honestly not that hard.

Worst luck here but I do love their chicken. The staff is not attentive and made us wait almost 20 minutes in drive thru. Kept telling us it was coming when in actuality they forgot our order. Once we got it we were missing items and this happens each time!

Edit: tried this place again, cashier was friendlier, but I had one tender that must have sat in the oil for hours as it was nothing but a dried husk when I got it. This is the third time I've had issues here. The first time they were cooking more tenders, so I was waiting. After they came out, I waited and finally had to ask about my food and they had lost my ticket. The second time I ordered a 7 tenders and when I got home, I only had 4 tenders. Had to drive back just to get my order corrected. Today I ordered 7 tenders and only got 6! I'm not sure why I have so many problems here. I hope the new location will be better as this location I just can't go back to. Also, it's bad when the customer is friendlier than the cashier!

Went through the drive through and asked for a number 1 and then exactly the same everything else another number 1 but with regular instead of half and half and James the worker through the drive through said “then that isn’t the exact same thing” Was so disrespectful with cold food aswell. 12/14/24 5:50pm.

Please don’t have someone at the window that looks like she hates her job. The black girl with the septum nose piercing has no manners at all. I thanked her at least 4 times when she took my payment, when she returned my card, when she gave me my drinks and not once did she look at me nor answered with a “You’re Welcome” or anything. Made my whole mood change with her horrible personality. Please advice her to show some manners. She’s the only one I’ve ever had a bad experience with.

They soak the chicken in a salt water brine. I just couldn't. So , so salty. The staff seem stiff and barley interactive. I'm trying to be nice. But, no. Other Locations Do Way Better!

Service was very poor! Had to ask for our drinks and had to wait on our food. Waited 10 minutes for our food went up to the counter to ask what was taking so long, they told me that they were waiting on the hot wings. We didn't order hot wings. After the finally looked at my receipt, they told me that we already got our food. Never said they were sorry or anything. Made it out to be our fault instead of there's. There is way to many young people working. With a young person in charge. They stand a round doing a lot of talking instead of making sure everyone is getting there order. WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE! I LOVE CHICKEN EXPRESS, BUT NOT THIS ONE! They need to take a lesson at the one in Red Oak. They have a lot of young people working there and they work!

The chicken was definitely raw, the soda cups are full of ice you barely taste the soda, the staff were not responding to our complaint and they showed zero interest in serving us

This is awful! Every time I go they serve cold food and sometimes the chicken is not all the way cooked. Why pull the chicken out quick and then sit it up there for hours? Why is it that you all think people want to buy old cold food? It doesn’t make sense that you can’t even get fresh French fries here. The people working here just don’t care. Starting from the manager down, they are here to receive a check and that’s it.

Unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with the chicken express across from HEB in Waxahachie. Constant wrong orders and we have to call and go back. Food cold, mashed potatoes runny, chicken extremely greasy and it makes the bottom of the box tear. We stop going for a while and then try again and it’s always an issue. The workers are really nice but the food has really gone down which is saddening because it use to be our Sunday dinner, every Sunday. The one down 77 by enterprise drive we haven’t tried yet because of the distance.

I've been stopping by this Chicken Express for a few weeks picking up this little ma in the Nursing home 1 Chicken breast and a roll and low and behold today low and behold the girl was charging me $4.31 and I told her this is normally 3.24 and she said the roll don't come with anymore, Thenn when the box with xhocken was given to me, They downsize the box as well with a small chicken breast ,I almost wanted to ask for a refund, But I didn't I just want be going back!!

Stopped in twice in last 7 days to buy gallons of tea. When I asked both times when the tea was made I was told each time “yesterday “. This was also the reply in the Kilgore store. I walked in each occasion. If the are selling day old tea they don’t care much about the quality of their products. Not coming back. McAlisters is just down the street.

They always forget something!! I understand this last time we came to closing time but we got a family meal and had to wait right. Once we got our food at home we discovered we had 3 THREE tubs of gravy and our mashed potatoes were missing. Chicken was super salty this time so it just killed everything. Like yall have the easiest job!! We're busy busy people and sometimes we just can't cook

I called in an order at 4:01, (family meal+liver meal) I was told it would be ready by 4:20. I got there at 4:20 and the doors were locked, I called 6 times, they wouldn't answer. I got in the very long line. When i got to the speaker i ask if my call in order would be cold and they ensured me it would not. Finally got to the window at 4:45 and it took another 10 minutes to get our.. no suprise.... cold food & the order was missing gravy. There was also a group of young emploees laughing and playing around in the kitchen right in front of the drive through window.

My wife recently had a bad experience here. She was able to place her order quickly, pull around and make payment. She was then requested to pull on through to wait for the food. And wait. And wait. She and another poor customer waited 30 minutes for her food to be brought to their cars. To finish off this tale she got hone to discover that this 8 piece order of chicken consisted of two overcooked breasts and six wings. Oh,well, at least the sides were good...

Went yesterday and the manager named Tracy was very rude to us. Was in line awaiting order and I called to ask question and she got irritated and hung up. Employee gave me wrong order so I had to tell them at window and she angrily yelled at me telling me I was not supposed to bring the order back in so I said ok.. I will keep it but I need correct order. She yelled " too late!" And grabbed the order and took it back in. Cross contaminated after order and drink were already in my car. I am a door dash driver. They need to manage it better.

I have been eating at Chicken Express since it opened here. It used to be good but now not so much. Their prices are ridiculous. And the fact so many of yall just keep shoveling out the money is nuts. Anyway, to each their own.

Went through the drive thru proceeded to order 25 bucks worth of food to get told at the window they don’t have any of the food and will not be able to serve it for the night. Absolutely no transparency between the cashier and the consumer once I went inside to get a refund and inform the manager she begin to be very rude and get an attitude. They need new staff that is properly trained and does not have an attitude problem. Her name was tamiah.

would not recommend anyone coming to eat here at this location. always serve old food, then have you waiting 30 mins to an hour for fresh food. The african young lady with a thick accent who is supposedly a manager is very rude and do not know how to treat Americans. She talks to customers as if she doesn’t have home training and do not need to be managing no fast food restaurant. I asked her for a additional sauce at the drive through window and also said I would pay for it. She slammed the window in my face and then comes back & say “you will have to go back around in the line to order your sauce” “there are cars being you waiting who have already placed order” when all I wanted was a sauce, that she could have just handed me but no. I didn’t pull back around, I just politely drove to the other Chicken express down 77 near butcher road and got me an additional honey mustard for NO COST! No one was rude there. I would advise you all to avoid coming here. Make the drive on down to the better and nicer Chicken express near butcher road. They have a much better atmosphere and are friendly. :)

I used to eat here once a week. I don't know what happened in the last month or two but there is definitely an issue. I went the first of November and ordered the number one, 4 chicken strips,fries and a biscuit. Got back to my office two miles away to eat and that's when I found all the food was ice cold. The chicken tasted like it was left over from the night before, the biscuit was hard as a brick and the fries were cold. I threw it in the trash. I decided today to give them another try, everyone has an off day and maybe the food was better. I was sadly mistaken. I got back with the number one and when I opened the box there was ice cold shriveled chicken strips that again tasted like left overs. The okra I ordered was cold all 12 pieces of it. At least the roll was fresh and warm. I don't know what's going on at this location, but it has gone way down hill. I think I'll find another chicken place and quit wasting my money, at $12 a meal, I think I can find better food that is hot.

I love this location and my score is not a reflection on the employees, food or store itself but rather on the blonde female manager with glasses. Everyday I purchase a large sweet tea. Most days I am asked to donate $1 “for the children”, no charity name. Sometimes I donate, sometimes I don’t. Tonight I went inside and ordered my tea. The very nice young man behind the counter was ringing me up and hadn’t even given me my total before she turned around and yelled at him loudly “make sure you’re asking for donations on EVERY order. Every single order!” He honestly looked embarrassed. Not only had she yelled at him before allowing him the opportunity to actually ask the question, she yelled loudly enough that myself and the two other customers waiting were baffled. Next time pull him to the side rather than publicly shame him for not being fast enough to ask me to donate 100% of my purchase price. Lead with kindness and patience Karen 🙄

Found hair in my food making me grossed out beyond able to even try to eat the tenders. I was working in the area and stopped so i didnt notice until i was 15 mins away on the highway. Im highly disappointed in the size of tenders as well for what they used to be. After avoiding Chicken E for about 2yrs ill go back to avoiding them again.

0 stars! 20 minutes for fresh tenders is insane !! The girl told me 8 minutes and it was like she forgot I was waiting! Had to go back in to get it!! I only ordered 4 pieces tender combo. Was very rude when I went in & would never come here again. I advise everyone to go to the other chicken express off 77 just 4 minutes away. HORRIBLE LOCATION WITH HORRIBLE HIGH SCHOOL WORKERS! Do better Waxahachie!!!!!!

I do not often do reviews or argue with people who cook my food. On this one occasion I was told I had to wait 20 minutes for 1 piece of chicken to complete a meal. I asked if they could substitute with maybe 2 tenders, as every other establishment I go to does when they run out or like they did the night before. The lady said no, I would have to wait. She looked surprised as I said I would wait, because rules are rules. So I waited the 25 minutes for the 1 piece of chicken. The tipping point is that when I asked for a bag the cashier got the bag and just laid it near the chicken and walked off. At least for the 25 minute wait she could have put the chicken in the bag. I had stopped eating here because one time they had a cashier "itcy scratchy" that was scratching and then tried to hand me my food and was surprised I asked for a refund. Popeyes sells chicken too.

Went through the drive thru tonight and ordered 2 #1’s and a kid’s meal. When I got home almost every chicken tender was raw! I called to speak with a manager to let her know her cooks are sending out raw chicken and all she had to say was “well everything is on a timer” which means they don’t even check the chicken! The chicken tenders are all different sizes and some take longer to cook than others FYI. My 2 year old daughter was very disappointed! I’m going to recommend everyone I know to go to the other Chicken Express on 77. This one is garbage save your time and money!

With a busy line, you might expect fresh and accurate food... not so much. Ordered a 3 piece all-white with fries and okra... I received two legs and a wing. Got home to lukewarm food at best. I called, and got nothing but "sorry, we have been very busy. I'll talk with my employees." Is there ANY fast food in Waxahachie worth a $? Good grief!
