On The Border in Weatherford receives high praise for its service, especially from servers like Cayden, Amanda, and Kalea. Customers rave about the improved food quality since Pappasitos took over, particularly the beef fajitas and Carne Asada. Some find the food bland, though.

On The Border is a family favorite for us! We always request Ms. Lexi because she’s amazing—her service is top-notch, and her drinks are always on point. She’s definitely one of the reasons we keep coming back. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, making it a great spot for family dinners. We especially love sitting on the patio when the weather’s nice, but I also enjoy having a margarita at the bar!!! Overall, it’s a fantastic place to relax, eat, and enjoy a drink
Mexican food and margaritas is always a good choice, but having them at On the Border in Weatherford was a GREAT choice. Our server, Taylor F, was so sweet and made sure we were taken care of. The menu options are plentiful making it hard to choose just one. Also, Amanda, the manager on duty made sure to visit our table to make sure we were happy with our service/food. Overall it was a great choice!!!
Cayden was a great bartender! Very friendly and professional. We will be back!
I came in today at lunch with my coworkers and was absolutely blown away with the service we had today from Nick. He was very consistent and made sure to make us feel at home. We all talked about how we felt like we knew this man for years because of how open and talkative he was with us. The food was so good and so were our drinks. Thank you for the 10/10 service and meal!!!
Cayden was great! He handled multiple tables and a large party very well.
Cayden was a really great waiter and was very professional! If you go there request him!
I had Nicholas and beth tonight and they did beyond amazing! went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. People with people skills like Nicholas could do companies like this wonders. Food came out fresh and they both made sure everything was filled and continued to come around with positive attitudes the entire time me and my family ate! It was my families first time up there and I will say we will definitely be coming back!
Our waiter was very friendly and made the visit pleasant (cayden)
Food was delicious and our server, Lexi was one of the greatest servers I have ever come in contact with. She had the most amazing attitude the entire time even when they got swamped. She was so busy and all over the place and still did not mess up our order and made sure we were taken care of at all times.
We stopped in for drinks, and they were amazing. Cayden was great.
Cayden was very polite and took great care of us! Wonderful experience!
Had an awesome bartender on my visit. Made it a fun visit. Cayden made the visit.
Cayden was an excellent server! food was good, atmosphere was nice
Highly recommend this location. Cayden was my server and he was awesome!
Caden was awesome new fajitas with butter sauce is 100x better so is queso and salsa
We set up at the bar last night with lexi, she was such a great bartender and seemed very happy to be there! Even with how busy she was making drinks she still made sure we had a great experience, definitely will be asking for her next time!”
OMG!!! We are so glad to see Lauren is back at OTB!!! She is the absolute BEST!!! We would go there all the time because we knew we would get such great serve there and then the next thing we know she was no longer there. She gives Excellent customer service and takes excellent care of her customers!!! We will definitely be back know that she is back at OTB!!!! So glad she is back!!😊
Wait Staff member MJ went above and beyond taking care of our tables needs today. Food was excellent however I do miss the Original OTB Chips and Salsa
Cayden was my server and he was the sweetest and funniest server I’ve had. I’ll definitely be coming back to see him
Cayden was an excellent server! Super attentive and a wonderful server! We will definitely be back.
Haven't been in a while Kalea was our server and she was amazing!!! Food was so good!!!
Cayden was our server and did a great job. We did not want for anything. Good was great.
Wonderful service, huge improvement. Cayden was our waiter and was wonderful! We will be back!
Cayden was so awesome! Great personality and attentive service! Queso is always great!
Maria was fantastic behind the bar! She’s learning and was getting great help from the bar manager Elaine
Cayden was wonderful. Good service. Very helpful and professional. Food seemed to take too long.
The waitress we had (i don’t remember her name) was very nice and quick with everything as well as had a personality. She didn’t come to our table too often or too little, she was perfect. The food was AMAZINGGGGG, if I could I would give this place a 10 star review.
We sat at the bar and had a great dinner. Cayden was our waiter and everything was great.
Having dinner with the family. Having endless tacos, queso, chips, salsa rice and beans. The beans were the best flavor I've ever encountered. Who doesn't like tacos? Yum! The service was good but had room for improvement. I tipped 15%. I've tipped as high as 25% for outstanding service in the past.
The food was great and came out at a decent speed. The waitress was very friendly and kept up with everything. The chimichanga didn't hold together very well, and all the tomatoes inside were all at the one end. Other than that the crispness was on point as well as the taste. I will be back when I'm in town.
Frances and Cayden did a marvelous job for us at lunch. Very delicious and LOVE the new hot sauce.
Love going here with the family! Our server Cayden was extremely kind and helpful! His service was 10/10!
We haven’t been here in a while but the food was great and Cayden our server was amazing!!! Definetly will be coming back!
Cayden was a great server. Made sure to explain everything on the menu in detail and made sure we were taken care of. Will definitely be back.
We had Jasmine as a server today and she was so sweet and efficient. The new salsa is INCREDIBLE and so fresh!
Cayden was quick to greet us and give us immediate service. We took his menu suggestions and were very pleased. We will be back just for the service and conversation.
Cayden was so nice and informative about all of the changes and affiliation with Papsitos. He was super friendly and was able to answer any and all questions that we had about the menu. Cayden is the best.
Our bartender was the food manager. He filled in and was amazing. He was extremely sociable, cared about making us happy and gave us the attention we were looking for. I will definitely be back because of him. His name is Bryson. Thank you. Bryson for caring about us. We will be back!
MJ was a great server! She was polite and very attentive. Food and service have definitely improved in the past month!
Stopped in with my dad for lunch. Sat at the bar to have some lunch. Cayden had great service, checked on us often and was very attentive to us, made lunch fun!
Since On The Border was bought out, this location has been phenomenal. Our server Jasmine was also awesome and attentive
Cayden provided great service, was very attentive and kept our drinks full. The food was better than our previous visit, and we’ll definitely be back!
Just arrived at the location in Weatherford and the service is fantastic! Cayden at the bar was very friendly and helpful, will definitely come back 😀
Cayden was a cute little guy who helped us have a great fajitas lunch in the bar area. Enjoyed a nice time out.
Cayden was excellent behind the bar. Their new salsa is delicious! Good food as always, and great service!
Cayden was awesome! Had our drinks ready as soon as we needed a refill, great service and the new menu is awesome!
MJ was our server and she was fabulous! The chips and salsa fresh and delivered quickly. The food had greatly improved with the new ownership. Would highly recommend this location!
MJ was our bartender and she absolutely perfect! She was friendly, helpful, sweet, and always a smile on her face. Would definitely come to see her again!
We had an AMAZING experience at On The Border today. Our server Amanda was absolutely incredible. Our drinks and chips were never empty and she was so sweet, attentive, and on top of everything the entire time. Kalea was also wonderful. She wasn’t our server but still checked on us, chatted with us for a moment, and made us feel so welcome while never missing a beat with her own tables. You could tell she truly cared about doing her job well. What really stood out was the whole team. I have never seen so many employees walk with such purpose. Every single person was working hard and still smiling while doing it. The energy, teamwork, and positivity were unmatched. Hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while!! We will absolutely be back
I haven’t been to OTB and at least three years and before that it was probably five and I swear I would never go back. I heard OTB was recently purchased, and they are revamping their menu and making changes, so I thought I would try it out. I am so happy I did. The food was hot. It was fresh. It tasted so good, and their margaritas are fantastic.
Don't let the low reviews fool you. This place was great. Zoee was super nice and knowledgeable. She underrepresented the amount of food was on the dishes we got, which is a great thing to do. We thought we were getting far less than we ordered. The manager stopped by to check and say hi. Very well priced.
Zoee was very nice and attentive. The food was flavorful and plenty. So happy we gave them a chance will definitely return.
We had a party of 6 adults and 3 kids, 1 needing a high chair. It was lunchtime on a Saturday, although we had a little bit of a wait, we were seated pretty fast after showing up without any notice to the staff. (All of us are from out of town and visiting family in Weatherford.) It wouldn't have taken so long if we didn't have to wait on another table to leave so they could push 2 tables together for us. The waiter made the wait worth our while once we were seated. He definitely earned his tip. The food came out fast and everything was as ordered and delicious. The kids were happy once their bellies were full and we had a good time catching up with each other while eating good food.
The food was hot, fresh and tasted so good. Love the new menu and so glad Pappasitos took over. Our server was attentive and friendly. The margaritas were delicious and filled to the top. Will definitely be back!
I missed the greeter’s name but she was very friendly and kind. Kalea was our server. She was fabulous. Chips, salsa, queso are the best. Our food was good. The greeter and server were who truly made the visit, with their smiles and the care they took.
It was our first time here at the weatherford location and Cayden was very welcoming and respectful to us. Helped us figure out the new menu and very good at making sure our drinks were filled. Also, food is very good!!
Went by for happy hour and everything was wonderful. With the pappasito's partnership, the chicken fajitas as excellent. We also got the guacamole and queso dip, the were huge and again very good. The guacamole was real avocado....not like some other restaurants where it's mainly pico. We really loved the new chips and salsa. HH large margaritas were $5....a win all the way. Alle (Alexandra) was our server and she was great....friendly and efficient. She also explained how all the chicken and beef is fresh and marinated in house; she also said that the sauces got major upgrades. She was right all the way. They were very busy for HH, and she really hustled....service was phenomenal.
Cayden was a very great sweet server. Very attentive, answered all of our questions, kept our drinks filled, and wore a warm smile the whole time! I love On The Border, but having Cayden serve us just made it that much better… we will definitely be back to ask for Cayden! 😃
We’ve lived here in Weatherford and had lunch/dinner at this On the Border on several occasions but today was exceptional! The hostess was quick to seat us and Cayden (our server took our drink/appetizer order within a minute of being seated. He was very polite and presented himself very professionally. The new menu is sleek and has quite a few less options as before they were bought out, but frankly having these signature options makes it easier to order. Food is excellent and service tonight was fantastic!
Been coming here for years as it kind of declined in quality. But we came for, chips & salsa, and drinks! Started to get better and we started eating the food again. In the past two weeks since the Pappas change we've ran here 3 times for the Carne Asada with that delicious butter sauce. The beef quality is dang near Uncle Julios. Do yourself a favor, Carne Asada and add on tortillas and make your fajita fantasy come true. Drizzle on that butter sauce you filthy heathen. Mmm.
Excellent lunch special...affordable, fresh and great service. Will come back. Thank you!

David was our server today. He was very attentive and explained the new menu very clearly. We tried the new shrimp and beef fajita and it was very good.

At On the Border Today. Jasmine was a great server. The fajitas were perfect! Love the queso, too!
MJ was great at satisfying our needs at the bar. You will not be disappointed- go see her!
Stopped going here for a while because they were starting to decline rapidly. Looks like new management is turning it around . Much better experience.
It's Pappasito's lite! So glad they bought OTB. Food and service were good! So glad to have them on our town so I don't have to go to fort Worth for my fix.
OTB is making a comeback! It was so good and the price was excellent. We had chicken fajitas for 2 with primo queso. The chicken was so tender it melted in our mouths. Our waiter was very good and attentive.
I haven't eaten at an On The Border in over 8 years. Lexi my server was Great! The atmosphere was good. However the food was so-so. Somewhat on the bland side. I had chips and salsa with guacamole. I also ordered the Grand Papi for my main course. The best part of my meal was the Mango frozen margarita. I would return for the good service and maybe try another dish.
The food has improved since being bought out by the Pappas group. My last take out did have one issue. I ordered flautas and the verde sauce was poured over them. Made them very soggy. I don't rememb…

Like many places, this restaurant is short-staffed, but our waiter handled multiple tables like a pro. Our fajitas were excellent.
Maria was great. Very disappointed with the salsa and chips. Fajitas were undercooked.
We ordered take out, I ordered the beef fajita quesadillas… they are $. 16.00 just for quesadillas I didn’t ask for cheese quesadillas I paid for fajita (beef) you could at least put meat on them!! Not a satisfying customer!! Just bc it’s take out dont take advantage of your customers!!! Down right wrong😡
This was our first time here. Our food had a few hairs in it that weren’t mine but the manager was really nice about it and took it off the bill. The queso was strange tasting. The waitress was really good, nice and on top of everything. I just wish she wasn’t so pretty my husband kept gawking at her. I don’t think we will ever go back but it was ok.
Food was ok... drinks were good. Service was awesome. First time visitor. I wish the food had been better.
Place was pretty dead and still took a little bit to be seated. Service was ok but took awhile to place order and get drinks. Food was fair the salsa tasted like bland tomatoes. Had the waiter bring me some salsa with fresh cut jalapeno which actually gave it some kick. The food came out warm like it sat around until all the orders were ready. There was only 4 of us. Ordered desert and waited about 15 min the someone came out and said the didn't have that desert. Kinda of a bummer. I never ask for military discounts when going out to eat.. I'm always wearing my cover. If they offer I accept. Being a 28 year Marine Corps veteran they offered a military discount because of not having the deserts we wanted. After looking at the bill which was over 180.00 the military discount came to about 1.3 percent. They could have kept their discount. Most military discounts are 5 to 10 percent, it was more like a slap in the face. We only went there because my daughter wanted to go there for her Birthday. Definitely won't be going back.
Wasn't anything I'd go back for. Service was very very slow considering it was lunch and the place was pretty empty. I will say the server was very nice and did his best.
Rating: ⭐⭐ (2/5) (5 stars for service, 0 stars for the kitchen) I am writing this with a heavy heart as a 20-year loyal patron of On The Border. Our latest visit was a jarring study in contrasts: world-class service overshadowed by a complete collapse in food quality. The Service (The 5-Star Experience) Our server, Zoee, was absolutely AMAZING. She was polite, attentive, and incredibly prompt. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to guest satisfaction, and she is truly the only reason this review isn't a one-star. The Food (The Heartbreak) Since the Pappasitos takeover, the decline of this brand has been "deplorable." We’ve watched our local spots close, and now the food at the remaining locations has become substandard and overpriced. The Salsa: Calling this "salsa" is an insult to Texas. It is bland and lifeless; honestly, Taco Casa has better salsa with more heat. The Menu: The "fajita" chicken salad was nothing more than a run-of-the-mill cafeteria grilled chicken salad. No grilled onions, no fajita seasoning, and zero soul. The Flavor: This is Texas—we expect Southwest spice, not the bland, uninspired profiles you find in the North. The Verdict The new menu is missing the Texas classics that made us fans for two decades, and the prices have been inflated while the quality has plummeted. It is painful to walk away from a 20-year tradition, but after this experience, this was likely our final visit to an On The Border. The food is simply not worth the price anymore.
We used to love on the border but tonight was so disappointing. Even the fajitas, our favorite, were not sizzling, looked like they were cooked a long time ago!!! The rice and beans-awful. Not to mention the fries for the kids! They were dark brown from a few days ago looks like. To add, the floors were super dirty, too. I can get over that, but the three of us went home hungry and we are not super demanding- not when it comes to On the Border at least. We will not be returning but I hope management is paying attention and can fix some things.

Disgusting!!! We just went to the bar and it was filthy! The bartender Actually smelled my husband’s glass before he made his drink…….the health department should really look into this place
Went to On The Border for ONE thing this evening, the chicken flauta appetizer. I ordered online & removed everything that could be removed because I could already see it coming into contact with the food & being a problem with it being soggy by the time it made it home. I really try my best not to expect too much from food service workers, especially with the variation of service I’ve received while dining in here previously. I get it home, open it up, & why the hell is it laying on a quarter head of damp lettuce?? Soggy flautas anyways. Gross, now I know better. Not doing this again, I feel like this should be an online option. No way should your appetizer just come with lettuce for looks by default.
The worst food ever. Got there about 11:30 on a Sat, just before noon. Maybe three tables were there besides us. Took forever to get service and the meal took 40 minutes to arrive. When it did, the beans were cold and the rice was lukewarm. The veggies tasted sour and the rest of the food was incredibly bland. The only thing decent as the guac, but it was way to salty and couldn't be finished. The prices were also very expensive, especially with the service and the taste. Never going back to another On the Border again. Update: We brought all of our unfinished food home for our dogs. The wouldn't touch it so we put it out for the raccoons. They didn't eat it either.
Food was terrible. The entire menu is different. The quality of the food was poor. Will not go back after being a loyal customer for years.
Was very disappointed with our service today. It took 45 minutes to get our food, then one of our plates was wrong, so had to wait another 20 minutes for the correct plate to come out. I asked 3 times for a to go box and finally got it. I'm hoping it was just a off day for them, very disappointed.
I'm giving one star since OTB changed the salsa to what Pappasitos recip. So sad that OTB sold out to Pappa chain. I would only go for the salsa so guess OTB is off the list. Good Luck. You see how well Cracker Barrel change went.
This location is always slow but this past Sunday 10/26 was the worst yet! The poor server had so many tables she was doing her best. I blame management she told us the whole restaurant was under staffed. Not sure if it's poor scheduling or call outs. It took 15 minutes just to get our check so we could leave. You need to do better we wasn't the only table not happy.
They recently got bought out and made changes the food (the salsa is now absolutely disgusting), and they were terrible changes. Absolutely not the correct move, the changes should've been gradual and small at first. I feel so bad for the servers honestly. They're losing so many customers, and so much money due to people walking out without even ordering.
On the Border is NOT what it used to be. We went to our favorite location to eat our usual favorite dishes only to find out the restaurant had been bought out by the Papa's chain (Papasita, Papadeauxs, etc.) and the menu had changed. Not only were our favorite dishes gone, but the food had gone down in quality. The salsa wasn't as good. The tortilla chips had a weird after taste. The flautas were over done. The beans and rice were bland and had little flavor. The birria tacos were greasy and soggy. We left feeling unsatisfied and wishing we hadn't eaten what we ate. OTB is ruined for us now. So sad.
Saturday night, Togo order, your staff ALL ignored me, 4 people came into the Togo area, 1 male and 3 female finally one said - have you been helped? I said no, she walked off without a word, a guy witnessed it and said “what’s the name” ? I told him, he grabbed the orders with the tips of his fingers like a little girl… set it down and walked off. Your whole staff, all 5 who I seen in Togo were rude, every one. I will stop tipping IF I return, and most likely won’t. Management here is awful, have they not seen some locations are closing, can the staff not try a little harder by making people feel welcome. We’re in Texas, have you hired kids from out of state…? This is not a complaint for free food or a refund, I’m not that kind of guy. Pay attention owner…………… my goodness. Tried giving On The Border another chance, apparently they no longer have flour tortillas that are homemade. Bummer, when we asked the waitress she said they were… lol come on desperate.
So, we went to on the border which we drove an hour for. We were seated immediately as they weren't very busy. Upon sitting down and looking at menu, realized our favorite dishes had been changed. Taco meat had been changed. My husband doesn't eat onions, no meat without onions. While looking at menu I was like well we can surely find something we could eat. About that time they delivered chips and salsa. Hot gross green salsa. Paper-thin chips. Prices increased. So, I guess buy out is not my cup of tea. We wont be back and we have eaten at multiple on the borders all over the state of Texas for many many years. Extremely sad and disappointed that the quality has decreased. We left and told girl at door that the changes didn't work out for us. I hated to leave, but salsa is half the enjoyment and it was disgusting... hot with a bizarre flavor. They said its got less ingredients than old salsa. Old salsa was very good. I've had very fresh salsa and make it myself with very few ingredients but that definitely missed the mark. Staff was very friendly.
The hostess sat my family with 2 children in the bar section and I could tell that the waitress was upset about have children in her section. Our waitress took our order 30 minutes after we got there after I asked her if we could order. Then the food took forever to come out. I had the southwest chicken tacos and for some reason they were sweet. The chips were good but the salsa was weird like it had chilli powder in it. I'm convinced that whoever made the new menu changes has never been to the south nor the west. The atmosphere was confusing with 90s pop music for some reason. I will never go to "On the Border" again and suggest that everyone goes to the Rosa's across the street.
I recently visited On The Border and left pretty disappointed. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all — maybe four or five tables total — but the waitress came up and explained that they had been bought out, and things had changed. She had stated that the fajita meat went from frozen to serve to made inhouse, the salsa went from 42 ingredients to just 6 and that the chips went from yellow corn to white corm. Unfortunately, that change really showed. Service was slow, and it took quite a while just to get drinks, chips and salsa and even longer for our meals to arrive. We asked for the ticket and EVERY time she came to the table she had another tables food or drinks. It was very “unpersonal”. The food didn’t make up for the wait, either. The fajitas arrived warm but the meat looked so gross, almost that the chicken being served was frozen and they just threw it on the grill and the seasoning tasted flat and completely different. Even the chips and salsa, which are usually reliable, came out bland and a little stale. The chips were see through almost as if the restaurant went CHEAP! The enchiladas seemed like they had also changed, the tortillas they wrap the enchiladas in was paper thin and the taste was almost unbearable. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality and freshness. Overall, the experience just didn’t feel worth it. Between the slow service and the underwhelming food, I left feeling like this meal simply missed the mark. I hope the restaurant improves, but based on this visit, I wouldn’t rush back and possible might not ever go back to an On the Border which we used to LOVE.
What a horrible experience. I saw an entire restaurant full of people ready to walk out. Everyone had to wait at least an hour for their food. The manager could not get around to apologizing to every table. The service was really bad. The waitress could not get anything correct. There was six of us and she brought chips and four bowls of salsa. We ordered queso and she brought it with only five bowls. I don't think she had a clue as to how bad the entire situation was. We saw a few people we knew and they all had the same bas experience. Cross this place off your list if you are looking for a restaurant in Weatherford
