Being new empty-nesters my wife and I decided to try the Thanksgiving buffet at Timmers Resort. We were extremely impressed with the food, staff, and atmosphere as all are top shelf. We'll be trying the brunch next.

Wonderful place. Outside patio is really great... especially in the evening. Live music was surprisingly excellent.

Wonderful scenery and food! Best part, they can make an excellent dirty martini! Highly recommended for atmosphere.

This is one of the most beautiful venues I have seen - it reminds me of a small European village! The staff was wonderful for the wedding event they just held, and all the vendors they had were amazing as well. I really liked looking out at the lake from the fireplace

Absolutely beautiful resort and delicious food and beverages! We had our daughter’s wedding there. Everything was perfect! The staff was very accommodating and checked in regularly to make sure everyone was happy! It was perfect!

I don't normally review places but when we get the exceptional service we had for my daughter's shower I must share! Allison, the event planner was top notch. Every detail was perfect and she and her staff along with Bonnie were the reason. Allison was organized, efficient, and pleasant throughout the whole process. She communicated in a timely fashion and made sure all my questions were always answered. The food and setting were phenomenal. We had so many compliments from others on how it was the best event they had been to. Allison dealt with all the details and made my job so easy! They went above and beyond our expectations. And Allison was the reason! If you are looking to host an event that is elegant with great food, this is your venue! Thank you Mickey and Maria

Excellent walleye, atmosphere, great bartenders, and the musician was wonderful. The staff had our table sprinkled with wedding confetti, which was an added touch for our engagement celebration.

Beautiful Supper Club on Big Cedar Lake. High ceilings, fire place, wood trim, everything looked very nice. When we arrived the parking lot and street parking were crowded, but we were seated right away. As with every Supper Club I started with an Old Fashioned, which was fine, nothing special, but not bad. I ordered Shrimp Scampi with a side salad. The side salad was big, fresh, great dressing, delicious. The shrimp scampi was done perfectly, amazing flavor, I want it again right now. I don't often give 5 stars, I will go back to Timmers.

Went to Timmers on Sat night with another couple. The Burgers were good. I ordered a baked potato with my burger but they gave me fries instead. Then they quickly put a baked potato on my plate. Good thing cause the fries were cold. Had the chicken Florentine soup which was very tasty. Service was really slow due to a wedding being held outside but we greatly enjoyed listening to the Me and Him band play in the bar area.

So many things to ❤ about a night out at Timmer's Resort on Big Cedar Lake! They check all the boxes for an overall amazing dining experience. From the moment you walk in the door you are greeted by a smiling face and a warm welcome from Catey Seitz and staff. ✅ Box One Checked (friendly front of house) As you enter the dining room you get to enjoy the warmth of a wood burning fire on a cold night. Between you and me I would have enjoyed sitting by the fire with Anne a bit more than my friend Roric Griffith but he is a close second for sure 😉😆! It was great conversation with a guy, I am privileged enough to call a friend. He has some pretty exciting ideas, that I am looking forward to being a part of. ✅ Box Two (ambiance) & Three Checked (great company) We had a chance to sit and look over the menu before John Levine appeared from the kitchen to introduce himself and make a few recommendations. The menu is very straight forward and I always love seeing a daily or weekly specials option addon. ✅ Box Four Checked (great menu choices - with specials) For the sake of simplicity and to humor ourselves we both opted to allow the Chef to determine our course with a few simple directions on what Roric doesn't like and to our delight they were happy to indulge us! (YES I COPIED RORIC) I had the Chef's Seasonal Salad, which was fresh and full of flavor. The pickled red onions and the goat cheese were perfectly complimented by the raspberry poppy seed vinaigrette dressing. The Seared Scallops were golden-brown and the inside was tender and creamy, just right! Plus they decided we needed another half of a dinner so they brought us the Chef Special Scallop Primavera. Excellent! I agree with Roric, I would come back and order (either of) these dishes AGAIN! ✅ Box Five Checked (great food) Then dessert! How could we even possibly consume anymore... Yeah right we are talking about #desserts and I always have room for that! We allowed them to choose for us and apparently we still looked hungry, so they brought out 4 desserts to share, LOL! My eyes were bigger than my stomach. I thought for sure the cheesecake would be the winner for me but the bread pudding was for sure the star dessert for me. ✅ Box Six Checked (YUMMY - DESSERTS) We also tried the Luxardo Cherry Creme Brulee and the Schaum Torte. My suggestion would be go check them out, soon! It is going to be a great experience all the way around. I have every intention of returning again with Anne for a dinner date in the near future.

This is an Amazing place to come for food, fun and relaxation... It's right on Big Cedar Lake... We had a private party for 50 in the back room with It's own fireplace and bar... We had Prime Rib, Walleye and Chicken and all were Fabulous... I will be back when I can take the boat on the Lake for sure... See you all soon.

Outstanding restaurant. The bar is beautiful with awesome views of the lake and property. Service is excellent and drinks are wonderful. The restaurant is beautiful but seating is limited. Make a reservation. Parking is great. We had the scallops and chicken. The chef is excellent. Here scallops were awesome and her risotto was awesome.

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner last night at Timmer’s for an impromptu date night. We enjoyed the patio’s beautiful view of Big Cedar Lake and resort grounds. The patio was quite busy but service was spot on. The chef’s special Panzanella salad was fantastic and a perfect starter to our meal. My husband added a chicken breast to his and it was actually cooked very well-not dried out/overcooked one bit. We had the mussels appetizer (as an entree) and another chef’s special of seafood scampi for our dinner entrees-both were fantastic! The seafood was cooked perfectly. So often one finds over cooked seafood, especially in a blended seafood dish such as this seafood scampi, but the scallops, shrimp and lobster were all cooked to perfection! We enjoyed an after dinner drink at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. We can’t wait to go back again. The weekly specials posted on Facebook have looked amazing and brought us in last night and I am sure they will bring us back in again very soon!

Quick and easy to make a reservation and then once arrived the hostess was efficient followed by the attentiative wait staff. Unbelievable experience to have a 1 year anniversary date night at! THANK YOU!

The service here is top notch. From the hostess to the waitress and the bartender's. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. I had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the seared walleye, and he said it was excellent. This restaurant has great ambience as well. A huge fireplace with lanterns that are candlelit. A great experience!

Really enjoyable dinner on a beautiful location. Eggplant app was really nice and ribs above average. Nice service as well, but what really makes this place is the location. Beware it’s on the pricy side, but seems the food quality matches the price. If you’re in the area definitely consider swinging by.

Had a great ribeye entrée with mashed potatoes and zucchini blend vegetables. Everything was cooked and tasted excellent.

Beautifully restored historic resort on Big Cedar Lake. Both the interior and exterior are charming and welcoming. Absolutely a treasure.

Timmers is one of my regular "go to" places. The food and service are great. The atmosphere from Friday night music to outside dining with the lake view is outstanding. A fire place in the bar and main dining area adds to the experience.

Oh the weather outside was frightful but the food at Timmer’s was so delightful... My family and I had dinner on New Year’s Eve at Timmer’s, service and food was amazing. Was somewhat concerned given the change in management but the food was what we have come to expect from Timmer’s

Just finished dining at Timmers for the first time. Would give it a 10 across the board! Bartender, Taylor, not only made great drinks but highly recommended the calamari. It was great. Our server, Rachel, was absolutely the best. She was bubbly and paced our courses perfectly. Everything from the appetizer to the ribeye was mouth watering and seasoned perfectly. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend.

Tiffany and Archie were amazing. Thomas was also really good. But Tiffany and Archie were so professional and fun. They really made the experience the best we have had in a long long time. Those 2 will definitely bring us back again. I should also mention the food was top notch. We all ordered something different and each dish was fabulous. Long time since a chef cooked my steak correctly. It was perfect.

Timmer's Resort reminds me of the cottage rentals we did every summer when our kids were young. Their spot on the Lake is beautiful. The food, service and atmosphere all worked together and our party of six all had a wonderful time.

Excellent night out at timmer's. Atmosphere is great and food is good (although the green beans are mushy). Large portions for every entree and the crab cakes were loaded with crab.

I recently hosted a bridal shower at Timmer’s Resort. Allison, the event planner, was an extremely thoughtful, knowledgeable, helpful and experienced planner. Allison assisted with every detail of the food planning, timing, space allocation, and beverages! Her staff, Bonnie, Mitch and bar manager Jeff, were on top of everything! We received many compliments on the appetizers, , sandwiches, salads and specialty made beverages! Allison was organized, thorough and very pleasant to work with. Allison made hosting the shower a joy!

My Sister and I both had the braised pork shank. Oh my goodness, this was the best restaurant meal we've had in years. We paired it with asparagus and loaded baked potato. Mitch, our Server, was sweet and attentive. We can't compliment this meal enough.

Delicious food with a view of the lake. A nice set of options. We had the walleye and it was exquisite and the BBQ Ribs were cooked to perfection. A short walk to the lake led to a beautiful sunset and perfectly clear water.

Denise was a great server and the food was on point. A little live music and a cozy evening was just right to close out the week with a fantastic fish fry. A place that we will frequent. Thank you Timmers!

My husband and I rented the parlor for our daughter's post wedding celebration. Allison, the event planner was excellent in every way! She covered every detail, was organized, efficient and so pleasant to work with. She made the process of planning the event completely stress free! Bonnie, our server, was on top of everything and even followed up on my husband's gluten allergy to make sure Timmer's and we were on the same page. The appetizers were delicious and we received may compliments from our guests. Kirsten, our bartender, makes a great old fashion and is the sweetest girl ever! We could not have asked for a better experience! Tom & Laurie

If I could give Timmer’s more than five stars, I absolutely would. We celebrated our wedding there this past weekend, and everything was perfect from start to finish. Allison, Catey, and the entire team went above and beyond to make sure both we and our guests were incredibly well cared for. The food was phenomenal, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or a more attentive, thoughtful team. We’re already looking forward to returning. Thank you, Timmer’s, for making our special day truly unforgettable!

First time there for a work Christmas party.12 06 25.. Wonderful history of the place since the 1800s. Owners went through good and bad times . I love the part where they would smuggle alcohol into the resort back in the day.lol I am going back there this summer to check it out again have dinner with family and friends walk around and check out the property more. Beautiful place.

I'm not going to complain about the food and atmosphere. That is consistently good. The only thing is it always seems understaffed. I'm not sure why that is, I would imagine with the prices of the food, tips are generous and they can make a lot of money. The manager is doing table work and wait staff duties. He should only have to schmooze the customers. By the way. He is super attentive but mostly helping the staff. Food for the price is good, atmosphere is awesome. I like the staff, you just need more to make this a great experience.

J
Jenna Haupt

I really do like this place. Love the atmosphere. Service is always great. But the Friday night my husband and I went, they were having issues with the cornflake crust being too salty, and it took a while to get my dinner, which isn't an issue. The issue was when I got my fish fry, it was still REALLY salty. I'll still be back. The flourless chocolate cake my husband and I shared made up for it a bit.

Very nice setting on Big Cedar Lake. I ordered the 8oz filet medium rare, my date ordered the Canadian Walleye. Receiving our order took a long time. I am guessing problems coordinating in the kitchen? Food is delivered and the server disappears. I cut into my steak and see it is not medium rare but well done. a bit on the chewy side as well. The server reappears and inquires how we are doing. I show him my steak and explain that it is not medium rare but perhaps more than well done. He apologizes and offers me a new steak, I decline because my date is already eating and I don't want the delay so she can then watch me eat. A manager comes over and looks at the steak and agrees that it is not medium rate. He then offered me the so called "family discount" on my dinner only. That reduces my dinner to $25 instead of $50 but I only ate about half the filet and didn't even take the rest home for my dog as it would have been too chewy for her. As I think about this I still paid $25 for a meal I didn't finish or enjoy. My suggestion, don't order steak here as the quality of the meat is questionable as is the kitchen staff's ability to prepare it properly.

Unfortunately my scallops were waaaay too salty. They were as salty as a McDonalds fry. I love scallops and order them whenever they are on the menu at a restaurant but these were the worst I ever had. I had my husband try them and he agreed. However, he loved his salmon (I tried it and it was delicious), he really enjoyed his soup and my salad was amazing. I was just totally confused by the scallops and why they stuck out so bad in comparison with the other great food. I’m hoping it was a fluke but I can’t figure out what went wrong besides dropping them in a salt bucket. I will return and order something else next time. Overall I was disappointed during my first visit there.

Meh. Had been here some years ago for an enjoyable experience and decided to come for our anniversary again recently. Setting is very picturesque and I would recommend dining outside if weather permits; inside has very limited views of lake and property. Waitress was already asking for drink order after we had only been seated 10 seconds and hadn't even had a chance to glance at limited wine list; felt like they were already looking to turn over the table as soon as we were seated. She also remarked several times about how this was her 2nd job and how she had only recently finished training and drinks were slow because bartender was also helping serve; impression was that management is not staffing sufficient to demand and not giving staff sufficient training or support. My wife enjoyed her lobster tails and we liked the brie appetizer. My burger was fairly rare (I asked for medium well) and pretty tasteless. Given the quite high prices, I was anticipating better. Menu selection was quite limited as well. Maybe they're just having some growing pains, but value for the money didn't seem to be there this time.

M
Mike Olson

It's a cool place and the service is great but the food is just way overpriced and low quality. My wife and i got the New York strip ($68) and the bone in ribeye ($54). Both were cooked appropriately but were seriously lacking in flavor and chewy. I've had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse unfortunately. For $120 we expect high quality and it just wasn't there at all

On December 16th, we came to Timmer's to celebrate the holiday with friends. We heavily enjoyed ourselves with drinks entrees and even after dinner drinks. I convinced my stepmom I'd bring her a scallops dinner since my husband's look so good, so we took a dinner home. Next day, we opened the bag the dinner was placed in and, to our deep hearted disappointment, her dinner was/is no where near the level of satisfaction that was my husband's; very lacking in quantity/quality. (see compared pics; tried my best.) I'm not a big complainer but the fact that I'm disappointing a family member, who can't get out of the house as she is a caretaker for my dad, just really really breaks my heart. I basically wrote this exact same thing to Timmer's in an email on December 17th and no response back to make things right. It's so sad I have to inform everyone I know of this entire experience. Maybe they get out of this story - NOT to spend their money and order take home from them; I guess, to each their own.

I normally don't bother doing a review, but felt like I needed to. Took my wife out for her birthday. Neither one of us ate all day, and looked forward to a nice dinner. We were told they were understaffed when we walked in, and we might have better service at the bar. Not exactly my idea of a " nice" dinner, but gave it a try. Ordered a drink, and ordered our meals. After an hour or so we were told they lost our order. Another hour past and our food came. Both the chop and the tenderlion were over cooked. They replaced our baked potatoes with mashed, without asking. I would have told them my issues, but the waitress never came back to the table. They did knock 50% off the meal for the wait, so that was generous enough. Sorry to see how far things have come down in quality. I wish them the best, and hope they can get it straightened out. However I won't be back anytime soon.

R
Robert Drake

Some dishes are okay and others are atrocious. We sent my wife's shrimp scampi back to the kitchen as not edible and ordered a crab cake to go in replacement. My wife later found the crab cake is so burnt that it was also not edible. So she came away from this evening having dinner at all. Management of the kitchen quality is clearly very absent ! To sum it up .. a restaurant with nice ambiance, good bar service, a reasonable table service, but average to poor food.

C
Christene Fincel

This was a terrible experience for us. We were seated at 4pm, the only ones in the dining room at that time. As other diners arrived we soon realized that we were easily forgotten.

Our family has been going to Timmers many years and have loved the food and service. We went to Thanksgiving dinner 2025. Something has changed. I was disappointed in the food and the service was meh. My biggest complaint was that the gravy was so salty that it ruined my turkey dinner. My sister and brother in law said they mixed it with other sauces to make it palatable. My sister and brother in law did like their dinners. Fortunately there are many great restaurants in Wisconsin from which to choose.

Have you ever gone to a resturaunt and spent 4 hrs and never got your meal? That's what happened to our party of 6 last night. We made reservations for 630 we came at 6 to enjoy the bar,( it was valentines day so expected to be busy)we finally got seated at almost 8, an hour and 1/2 after reservation. We were told multi times they were having problems with seating because there was 6. Ok, we understood but from there it went worse. It took almost 30 min to place our orders and by then it wasn't very busy and then we waited and waited. Finally alittle before 9 we got appetize and salad..then we wited again. Asked to talk to.manager, he came to table Said" I don't know what's going on". Your food will be out in shortle... almost an hour later we walked out not getting our food, its10pm and no where to go to eat. I've been here a few times. sometimes food is good and service is good, but also other tines we have had very slow service and wrong food brought out to the table. The place is cool, the bartenders are great. The 2 man band "me and you" were excellent. Don't think we'll ever go back...when the manager doesn't try to fix a disaster, there's a big problem, and we were not the only table to get up and walk out

K
Kate Tranchita

Awful. To give the food 1 star is incredibly generous, ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE. We had a party of 9, paid $30-$50 per plate and nobody enjoyed their food. Even the kids didn’t like the Mac n cheese which says a lot!!! Basically every plate was nearly tasteless. The service was fine, but I’ll take good food over good service when that’s what you’re paying for. Extremely disappointing!!!

A
Alec Fantl

High expectations and overall a let down. Awesome looking property. Nice to look at. Coconut shrimp is processed and frozen, and that was the highlight of our meal. Calamari appetizer was simply not good. Worst part was the perch smelled like a swamp and came out cold even after the server assured us she would time it correctly. I don't go out of my way to leave negative reviews and this place was highly rated, so I was not anticipating having to leave this sort of review.

A
Ashley Beres

So hard to write this review, as this place has so much potential. Seated 45 minutes after our reservation. It was a Tuesday night, so not busy but not slow either. The hostesses tried her best however another table was still enjoying their night and the hostess indicated once they left we would be seated. We had cocktails and sat outside while we waited. We ordered immediately apon being seated. After another 45 minutes we asked our waitress if she knew when we could expect our food. She said they were backed up and she was not sure. We asked again after another 30 minutes past and she said that we had 2 more table in front of us. The room was 50% full, so it was hard to understand the large delay. We asked if we could speak to a manager and assured her she was not doing any wrong but this was too long to wait. The manager come and apologized but said she didnt know when our food would be up and the kitchen staff just said they couldn't go any faster. 30 more minutes passed and our food came out. 2 sandwiches, 1 scallop dish, 1 steak dish, and 1 chicken dish. The steak was order medium rare and come out well done. Almost seemed microwaved to reheat it. The baked potatoe was hard and not cooked enough to mash or eat, I tried. The beans were burned, not charred, burnt and so dried out they were shriveled up. The whole meal was not edible and we did not wish to ask for something else due to them already being overwhelmed. I asked if she could just take it off, which she agreed. They offered did give us a round of drinks, which some of us didn't wish for more drinks because we were in need of food. We spoke with the manager again at the end of the meal, and she offered us dessert. We decided to pass on it after waiting an additional 15 mins and no one took our order. My husband and mother spoke with the manager to share our feedback. The restaurant took care of our bill and we still tipped the waitress. We spent 50ish dollars on pre dinner drinks and about 50ish in a tip. Then we drove an hour home, disappointed in our experience but thankful for the waitress, hostesses, and manager who tried to salvage the experience. We were there to celebrate 2 birthdays and an anniversary.

We have been waiting for our food for over an hour and all we ordered was salad and soup. Not even a bread crumb while we wait. The bride is about to start eating the butter packets we’re so hungry. I have been gnawing on a tooth pick to keep from passing out from hunger. The salad was soggy and the everything had a hint of fish taste.

5/31/25 We had the 12oz prime rib. ($36) ($48 for 16oz) Very disappointed. Meat was tender, but had very little flavor, couldn't use the AuJus, tasted very vinegary. My baked potato was over done. Salad was good, so was the roll. I doubt if we'd return!
