Stumbled on this humble restaurant while staying nearby. Sushi and chicken tempura were excellent and really appreciated the laid back vibe and the kindness of our waiter.

We r neighbors, they are good ones. I worried that restaurant food might not be moving/fresh, but we were dying for japanese. Rainbow roll, salmon teriyaki - couple basics for take-out to split w asian lady ( tough audience). Greeted by the family, the senora of the operation opened each one, described it like carol merrill on the price was right. Her hands glided along the perimeter of the styrofoam saying ' i guarantee this $hit'. THE FOOD WAS GLORIOUS! perfect in every way she sold me a big japanese beer and no lie - nirvana. Go here - its like, really japanese.

I had some time ahead of a concert at Whisky a Go Go and sushi sounded good. I found the staff - who I guessed were family members - very friendly and efficient. The food was very good, and good value for the money. I had a delicious, flavorful miso soup and sashimi salad. The sashimi was fresh, clean and tasty as well. Washed down with a Japanese beer. Next time I'm in the neighborhood, I'd definitely go again!

The atmosphere was a bit flat to start with, but things picked up once we were settled. Our server quickly warmed up, was very attentive, and super helpful with guiding us through the menu. The food itself was absolutely delicious – fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. What started as a slightly stale beginning turned into a really enjoyable dining experience.

Almost all of my cut rolls fell about as I picked it up or dipped it into the soy sauce. But other than that ill give this spot a 4.8 out 5. Its Definitely worth stopping by.

Tenmasa has been owned and run by the same family since the Sunset Strip was home to the debauchery of the 80's and you can see how it has stayed open for so long! Extremely spacious interior eating areas as well as the sushi bar itself, extremely cozy and the service is next to none! The waitstaff at Tenmasa make you feel like you're dining at a close friend's home, they are just so warm! The menu is vast, based in traditional Japanese-style cuisine and extremely fresh. I love their sashimi best but absolutely everything is delicious, you really can't go wrong. Come visit Tenmasa- it's a must stop for anyone who needs a bite in LA.

Straight to the point. I got the curry. 6ft offered brown rice which was good. I might try the sushi next time. The staff spoke Japanese too, that was a plus (for me at least)🤗

I’m not sure if these guys really know how to make more than a California roll. I didn’t try the nigiri or sashimi. That might have been just fine. We had the Sake Kama and the kastsu curry. Both of those were very tasty. I could have used more curry sauce, however. Oh we did end the meal with Chinese fortune cookies. What a treat.

This was our first time ordering from this restaurant. I ordered the Unagi and avocado roll which for some reason just was not pleasant to eat. My friend ordered some tempura and a miso soup. Some of the vegetables in the tempura were pretty much raw and the batter itself was overly thick and tasted of baking soda. The miso soup was very mild and tasted watery. The pickled burdock salad I got was pretty good and also the vegetable soup was not bad. For this price in this location however I most likely will not be ordering from them again.

Menu was definitely bizarre and for some reason he gave me a rock hard fortune cookie with my check. Why is there a fortune cookie at a Japanese restaurant? And why was it so stale it couldn't be eaten? This place was deserted for a reason. The waiter seemed distracted or maybe a little tism-y. Don't go... 🤮 🚽 (🇯🇵?)

DISGUSTING AND RUDE!!! Lunch special tasted gross and the server was beyond RUDE!!!! Didn’t acknowledge us at all, we had to ask for seating and for our check… we were the only ones in the restaurant so what?!
