Pacific Star Winery is the most amazing winery I have ever been to. I don’t think there is better winery scenery anywhere in the world. This is my vibe. I have no words to describe how truly incredible it is. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I wasn’t a fan of the wine selections, I’m a sweet wine person, and everything was on the dry side, but it doesn’t matter because the place is that awesome. They could have fed me the driest wine available and I would have happily consumed every sip and smiled the whole time. I can’t wait to go back!!! Pacific Star Winery is heaven at the ocean! **Pacific Star Winery made my favorite stop list.
We absolutely love this spot! The views are incredible. There’s lot of places to sit on the property and enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the gorgeous views. Pictures just don’t do it justice, you have to see it in person for yourself. The staff are always so friendly as well!
My wife and I were a little hesitant about visiting Pacific Star Winery because, like many of you, we checked the reviews. We looked at the good, the bad, and everything in between. And I can say it was those 1-star reviews that really did it for us. Check 'em. You'll see a thread running through them all. But if you tell me there's a winery that discourages kids and dogs? My response is, "Shut up and take my money!" The property itself is incredible. As we turned off HWY-1 and onto the property, it took our breath away. Honestly, it doesn't seem real. Loads of parking is available. It's an easy walk to the tasting area with lots of signage that both directs you where to go, and tells you that dogs are prohibited, and kids are discouraged. The tasting area is huge with 4 service counters. The staff were all lovely, including the owner. They all happily take the time to talk about their wine and the property. When you get done with the tasting, head down to the cliffside and chill in the Adirondack chairs while watching the ocean. It's a great way to kill an afternoon and a half bottle of their Zin. That's what my wife and I did. It was made even more peaceful by the ABSENCE of little Mabel running around while Mom and Dad exercised "gentle parenting" techniques to the dismay of EVERYONE ELSE trying to relax at a winery. About the wine: Semillon - Yes, please, on a hot day with a nice cheese board on my back patio in summer. Red Sea - Good, but I got lost on the goal of this one (sorry, Pacific Star... 😬) Carignane - Really, really good with a punch of persimmon on the nose. Zinfandel - Loved it. Not overly complicated like I like my Zin. Fruit forward, easy drinker, worth the price of admission. Petit sirah - Spicy with a nice mineral element. Give it a year and it's a winner. Long review short, we absolutely loved this place. From the drive up from Mendocino, to the 360* views of the property, to the wine, to the great service, to the absence of any screaming kids with wildly irresponsible and inconsiderate parents, this is a 5-star experience. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Just leave Mabel, Maverick, and Fido at home.
Love the views! The property is beautiful and well cared for. The staff are lovely and warm. The wine is delicious. What else could you ask for? Perfect experience. (I am a father and pet owner; I am also happy pets are not allowed and parents are discouraged from bringing their children) Great adult experience at Pacific Star Winery!
An absolutely unreal experience. One of the most beautiful views I’ve seen of the ocean AND drinking wine at the same time! Staff was so knowledgeable and kind! We did a wine tasting and all were very good. We will definitely be coming here every time we’re in the area! We bought a bottle and took it on an ocean picnic right after.
A must stop. Best view along the cost. Friendly stuff. Good wines.
After leaving Napa, we wanted to try a winery along the coast. Pacific Star was great not for their wines but more for their property and views. It's a great laid-back place to have several glasses of wine and move around to different sitting areas for the views. Had so much fun here. Would definitely recommend it for a fun experience.
Amazing Winery at the Pacific Coast!😀😄Love the amazing View and Wines!😄😁
I'm not sure if I met the owners or not but I'm pretty sure it was them, he loved my girlfriends "mismatched" converse and he had on glow in the dark converse! The wine tasting was a great experience. The customer service here is on point and I love the warm and positive vibes the owners/employees have. You FEEL happy just being within their presence. The views are gorgeous and the ambience and atmosphere of the location and environment just makes this winery so worth going. My girlfriend and I had a great time here, will definitely come back to visit again next year (since I'm moving away for a year temporarily T_T). Thank you Pacific Star Winery, it was definitely a highlight for my partner and I.
Loved visiting here! Saw a sign that said “Tasting” and couldn’t resist. It was a beautiful place and had 5 delightful wines on the tasting when I stopped. It was a random, impromptu detour on my traveling along HWY 1 and I couldn’t be more pleased with it. The gift shop is adorable (and affordable) and the staff was very kind and knowledgeable of the wines, making sure to explain them when pouring the tastings. The seating area was very spacious and has a gorgeous view overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I visited for over an hour and was so thrilled, in fact, I purchased 2 bottles of their Charbono and thoroughly enjoyed every glass.
Absolutely lovely. Peaceful place to enjoy wine and the ocean coast. We just showed up and the wonderful service got us started. We then walked the grounds and found various places to sit and enjoy the views. So fun!
If you enjoy Wine, Whales and the Pacific Ocean this is the place to visit! This Beautiful winery has breathtaking Ocean Views, you may even see an incredible grey whale like I did for the first time in the wild! The owner and wine maker, Sally will captivate you with her knowledge, pose, and Beauty! For safety precautions, I would highly recommend leaving your pets and children at home; This a great peaceful place to unwind and relax for a few hours and recharge your spirit!
Unpretentious, yet in a place so beautiful and perfect. The view are just super natural, the space is great, the service is first class and the wine is good. They allow people to bring food and use the table which are spread all over the property. The tasting is $14 for 5 wines. This is the way wine tasting should be, and I appreciate it that about the place. This is a must stop when rolling up or down the famous Highway 1!
A small private winery on the coastal. With a Great ocean overview setting and fantastic owners/hosts, Sally and Markus. The coastline is part of the Pacific Star fault line. Bottle prices ringing for $20-36. The white blend It's My Fault was our favorite. By far the best place to view the sunset.
Love coming here to Pacific Star! The wines are phenomenal. It's a wonderful place to come and relax! You will not be disappointed. The hosts are wonderful and very Informative. This is one of my absolute favorite places!
I discovered this gem and first met Sally about 23 years ago and it is always a treat to return. Such a lovely setting with nice wines. We visited over the weekend before the 4th and it was quite busy. We had a nice picnic packed, which was enjoyed by the bluffs. I travel everywhere with my registered service dog and though he enjoyed a nap under the picnic table, I try to support more dog friendly businesses. I was surprised to see they are not dog friendly. We will be back soon when on the Mendocino coast!

A must stop at this small family winery. The way wine tasting should be, not pretentious, not over priced, great wines, friendly service, AMAZING location. Take in the incredible views with a glass of wine. Oh heck, get a bottle and walk the grounds. The owners are lovely!

Incredible location, super friendly staff. Affordable tasting and great wine. Really loved spending time there. It was mellow and the views were some of the best costal views I’ve seen. If you see the sign make sure you make the stop you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!

Fun times and good wine! Nice selection of varietals and easy drinking wines. Inside also has a great selection of cheeses and meats for a nice afternoon watching the waves crash on their bluff. Friendly staff, and owners, round out an overall great experience.
The views were incredible. Not dog or kid friendly due to extreme cliffs dropping to the ocean. Gorgeous and expansive seating overlooking some pretty exceptional views of North Coast ecosystems. This is coming from a NC native too. This place has a great thing going for a good bottle/glass of wine with whale or bird watching and good seating. The tempernillo we had was decent too. While we sat we counted 8 different bird species and watched a sea lion fish in some really rough tide pools and troughs. The abalone below this place must be amazing but not for the faint of heart to harvest. It's a rough coast. Not bad wine either.

This afternoon we finally stopped at Pacific Star Winery, located right on Highway 1 north of Fort Bragg. I’ve driven past it many times and decided today was the day to try their wines and take in the scenery. First off, the views are spectacular—the winery sits directly on the bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and you can see why it’s one of the most photographed wineries in California. We did a tasting of five wines, starting with their Viognier and finishing with the Zinfandel. The pours were generous enough to get a good sense of each, and we enjoyed the lineup overall. Afterward, we walked around the property, which is filled with rustic touches like stacked barrels and gardens, and made our way down along the cliffs by the sea. The weather couldn’t have been better, and the coastal breeze made it a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. The photos capture some of what makes this spot special: rows of old barrels set against the coastal landscape, the winery’s gardens in full bloom, and the dramatic rocky coastline just steps from the tasting area. Pacific Star Winery is worth the stop if you’re traveling Highway 1. Even if you’re not a big wine drinker, the ocean views alone are enough reason to visit, but the wines and laid-back atmosphere make it even better.

We visited Pacific Star Winery last Sunday around 4 PM with our family, including our 3-year-old. The property itself is absolutely beautiful — the views are stunning and the atmosphere could have been very relaxing. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Even though we were sitting in the designated area where children are allowed, a woman (I’m not sure if she was the owner or an employee) came over and yelled at my 3-year-old after he picked up and dropped a small pebble. I immediately explained that he’s just a toddler and that I would get him settled, but she rudely said, “I don’t care how old he is — he needs to sit and stay quiet.” Her tone and attitude were extremely disrespectful and uncalled for. No one should speak to a child that way, especially at a place that supposedly allows families in certain areas. While the location is beautiful, the staff’s behavior completely ruined our visit. I would not recommend bringing kids here — even if you stay in the designated area — as the staff made us feel very unwelcome
