First of all- the team of servers - just about everyone- no matter who they were, when they had a free moment, offered to assist me and followed thru with kind service without me even asking- they look for positive, impactful opportunities and they offer help. They were EXCELLENT! The ambiance is fantastic. I sat at the small bar and it is an interesting watch of the expert line and pizza cooks, a TV for sports, etc. Plus the bartender/ takeout payment taker was VERY friendly and helpful to my ice teas and to the others of the service team. They had an outdoor party for (est) 30ppl, it was early 5:30pm so another 12 inside diners, and approx 10 takeout order pick ups during my 45 mins. They are a popular Italian restaurant who has earned this popularity. The food was a 9/10 ( and I'm a challenge to impress as you know ). The large portobello stuffed with Goat Cheese were tender, full of contrasting taste blends and were delicious. The Italian bread/ pizza bread chunks were great. My entree- Lasagna- was fresh, tasty cheese & meat fillings, and the sauce was a complement. One minor thing- the very outer edge of this large portion was a pasta ribbon. It is exposed during cooking so it was cooked to a solid, hard crisp- not in keeping with the entire soft large interior lasagna portion. Figure out how to change this or remove it prior to serving. I finished with a strawberry Sponge cake ( named Mimosa Cake- same name as the bartender! ) dessert and it was the perfect, light, creamy and fruit flavorful ending to the Italian meal. PS. I wanted a regular sized pizza ( to eat a few slices and take the rest home for later ) to try their pizza ( and my pasta too). But they only serve smaller 10" pizzas to the dining room customers and 12"+ to take out orders???

I love eating out at restaurants, and this easily has been the best Italian food and atmosphere I’ve ever experienced. The portion sizes are perfect for how rich the food is and all the spaces in the restaurant are beautiful and intentionally decorated. Incredible restaurant.

Hey, let me tell you guys something. Come in close, okay you listening? This place is authentic, cozy, well priced and run incredibly well. The service here is fast, professional and organized. The owner cares about his now 30 year old business and it shows. The restaurant is impeccably clean and well taken care of. Come here if you want a nice Italian meal in a friendly/cozy setting. You won’t be disappointed! Date night and family night! Lunch here would be a good option too as the food here is of a super high quality. Sincerely a pleased and satisfied customer!

Cute Italian feel! Staff was amazing and food was even better! The Bolognese and Caesar salad is my favorite. Marco and Maddie were friendly and knowledgeable! Give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Authentic southern Italian cuisine with consistently good food. A warm and inviting atmosphere with terrific service. A true family run restaurant. The wine list is very good and the pizza is some of the best in Connecticut. I highly recommend this restaurant for its "Barese" food.

I tried one of their Hot Oil Pizza and the Capellini Primavera Pasta. Both the dishes were simply delicious. Their Primavera pasta is out of this world. I have been here two times, and I am truly amazed by the consistency of this place. Their wine collection is very good as well. They also give freshly baked bread at the start, which is really good too. This has become one of our goto places now. I would highly recommend this place. Also book a spot before you go. Else you will end up waiting. The restaurant is pretty crowded during weekends.

Inside there were seats, but we wanted sit outside and enjoy this authentic Italian atmosphere in a summer evening with Dean Martin and the crickets. For this we then had to wait 45 minutes. We had the set menu and a Pizza Capri. The pizzas are like in Italy - thin and not deep pan. At the end, we were spoiled for choice to pick us a dessert. The Lava Cake was absolute top just like the lime sorbet. A proper Trattoria. A really nice evening.

Such a delightful place! My friends took me here for my birthday and from the moment I got there I felt very special. There is plenty of parking in the back and some in the front, they have an outdoor seating area which looks very comfortable. We sat inside and from beginning to end it was the best attention I have received in a very long time. We sat there for three hours and they kept serving us like we had just arrived, very attentive and kind. We ordered the clams as an appetizer which were delicious (and supposedly I don’t like clams), then we ordered three different dishes. Mine was the breaded chicken with eggplant and mozzarella!!! So incredibly yummy!!!!!! We also had lots of delicious bread as compliment, and then we finished off with dessert. We ordered the cannolis, lemon cake and tiramisu. I vote for the tiramisu 100% out of all! And to top it off, they sang the Birthday Song in Spanish which was very cute. My wish was blessings to my friends, the waiters and waitresses! Thank you Via Sforza for hiring great people and cooking delicious food! Will be back soon.

My order was online, pick up. While I was waiting for my order, I was able to look around the restaurant. Very gozy place. I ordered pappardelle Colombo and marcherita pizza. The pasta and sauce were great, but the chicken was most likely cooked the day before because not all the pieces of chicken were soft and juicy, however, this did not spoil the taste of the dish, but it is worth paying attention to this details especially with such a delicious pasta. The pizza was excellent! Also the freshly baked bread is fantastic. I recommend this place!

Today we held a spectacular baby shower at this beautiful restaurant. We had the party for 25 in the main dining room at noon and had the restaurant to ourselves. If you are planning a party, let me make it easy for you. Have it here. A few months ago we met with Gianni, the owner/manager. He has superb customer service skills, is very communicative, and today’s results were everything he promised. The environment is beautiful, the food was wonderful and served very tastefully, the wait staff was quite professional. I never write reviews but had to after this top notch experience.

Me and my family went to Via Sforza Trattoria for my mom's 70th birthday. We got a nice private room where we could enjoy the celebration. The food and service was amazing. Everything was great and the staff made it feel more special. It was a memorable dinner party and I couldn't be more grateful. Giving Via Sforza five out of five stars. Would definitely recommend!

me and my husband went to celebrate my birthday, and we made the best choice. Chris helped us from beginning to end, made our night wonderful, thank you very much for the service. The food was very good, my husband and I ate some of each other's dishes, we couldn't decide which one was better hahah We will be back soon.

My family selected this restaurant for a celebratory birthday dinner for me. We were a party of 12 and had the private room. It was set up beautifully and we felt so at home. Our adult children worked with Mario from the Restauant family to select wonderful offerings of wine and food for our group. This was a surprise for me. The attention to detail and service were impeccable . This made for a memorable evening with a staff that really worked with each and every guest over our food selections. They were so available all evening... Again this family owned restaurant went out of their way to be sure everything was done perfectly. Thank you again Mario for your enthusiasm and help with this special occasion celebration.... we can't wait to return... Loralee Arcuni Redding, Ct.

Our dinner was so very delicious and the room is cozy and welcoming. The service is excellent and not hurried and the dry manhattan is the best. We came two weeks ago for appetizers and drinks and came again tonight for my birthday. New favorite restaurant.

This restaurant deserves 10 stars!!! The clams casino (a must try)and the chicken with eggplant are the best I have ever had. Absolutely delicious, fresh and flavorful. The wine list is great, the tiramiso and ricotta cheese cake are a must. Excellent and warm service, thank you Luis!!! The manager came to our table to welcome us since it was our first time. So nice!!! I will be back Friday and I cannot wait. Best Italian restaurant for sure. Highly recommend!

What a lovely restaurant! Specially this time of year. It is beautifully decorated. Very clean. The moment you enter you are greeted. Every member of the staff pays attention to every table. Your bread basket is constantly replaced. Your water is constantly filled. Your dirty plates are quickly cleared. The food is incredible! We’re most definitely going back!

Absolute best!! Been going here for years and have never had a bad meal. Everything is delicious - I personally love the salads, soups, fish, pastas and pizzas. So many options and it’s always so fresh and tasty. The service is wonderful - such kind people. They’ve also really built up the outdoor area. Transports you to Italy, whether seated in the charming inside or outside patios!

Amazing place for families. We come here almost every week. Best Italian restaurant around. I promise you won’t find something on the menu you don’t like. The staff is also the best. Never rushed, always checking in and never pressuring you.

Right across the street from HSS. Stopped here after an appt and enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Burrata was good, as was the bolognese and chicken Marsala. Friendly server, hope to return.

We went there on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. I had the bolognese lasagna, my wife had the spaghetti carbonara, and we both shared sangria and the tiramisu. All of them were excellent, as was the atmosphere and the service.

Love this place! The salmon is great. The calamari was just ok. Everything is made fresh and the ambiance is just like that of a small quaint Italian trattoria. This is a regular spot for my wife and I.

Food was great and the staff was very attentive that exceeded anything we could have expected. The table wobbled slightly, the apologized and fixed it. We never said a word they noticed it themselves and corrected it. A wonderful meal great cocktails and honestly the tab was less than we expected, honest prices for service. Hopefully we get back soon

Delicious food and warm atmosphere! I give a lot of credit to the restaurant for having sufficient indoor seating while not feeling crowded. We've had the pleasure of having Mario as our waiter each time we've visited. He is personable and upbeat, and his presence truly contributed to our overall great experience there. Highly recommend!

My 3rd time dining at V S, and it's my 3rd time being very satisfied. Beautiful atmosphere, prompt attentive service, excellent quality food, and fairly sufficient portions. Gorganzola salad, Pollo Rigoletto, Baked Shrimp Scampi both over pasta, Gelato, and a Canolli. I'll be back.

The moment we walked in we felt like we were in a Tuscan villa. I wish the weather was nicer as the outside dining looked terrific. Drinks were great. Spritz’s and Negronis. Appetizers of the Buratta was great and so was the clams casino. Bread was super fresh. I had the Pollo Rigoberto which was super tasty. The table got some pizzas and pastas and all enjoyed. The carbonara fell a bit flat. Pancetta instead of guanciale - which can be fine but just did not have the taste we were used to. Derive was a bit slow. Took a long time to get the drinks ordered and I had to flag down the waiter. Overall great spot and will be back. Definitely worthy of The Amore Life

I just hosted my sisters bridal shower here, and I was blown away by the entire experience. Leading up to the party, the planning was made very easy by the staff. They were always available to answer any questions I had. The food was fantastic, and the portions were huge. We went with the gold package, and so there was something to make everyone happy on the menu. The night before, we realized we had guests that needed some menu modifications due to diet restrictions, and they were amazing and accommodated. Service was exceptional, I recieved nothing but compliments after the event, I 100% recommend booking them for your next event!

Edit: Via Sforza reached out and refunded the added tip. Thank you Johnny! Most of the experience was excellent. We were a party of 6. The food was very good, service excellent. My problem was that when the check came, I wasn't informed that the gratuity had already been added in. In my experience, this isn't done for groups less than 10 or so. Even then, it's not a problem - provided I'm informed. The result is an additional tip was added to the final cost. Again, not a problem had I been told that the tip was already included. Almost certainly I would have added more to the tip anyway but the amount might have been different.

It was my first time at Via Sforza.. We had heard wonderful things about this restaurant from friends so we took the trip to Connecticut from New York.. Everything exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious, the ambiance was warm and the service outstanding. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning soon!

I hosted my bridal shower at Via Sforza and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The space itself feels like a little slice of Italy—warm, inviting, and beautifully designed. It was the perfect setting for our celebration, and I received so many compliments from my guests. I’m thrilled with how everything turned out!

Service was nice and friendly and the decor was spot on. The food was good but nothing astonishing or to blow my mind. The drink I had wasn't good and had to request it to be replaced by a Shirley temple. I do wish the bread in bread basket were warm but they were stone cold. However their focaccia bread was delicious. Nice place for pictures but not so tasty.

We always want to like this restaurant - the staff is so nice. We go once a year have mediocre food and then remind ourselves not to go again. Ex:Carbonara which states it has onions (not traditional) but comes with loads of onion, and under cooked pancetta and a puddle of oil or butter at the bottom of the bowl. It was terrible. We have tried so many dishes and they always underwhelm - often too greasy. Perhaps the take out pizza is good - we haven’t ordered for a while. We feel bad as we so want to like this place, but won’t be back until we forget this meal again.

I'm sorry to report this restaurant won't have my business ever again . The wine and appetizers were good - calamari fritti and a salad and they came out relatively quickly. Would have prefer that the bread be warm but not a deal breaker. The problem was that it took almost an hour to get our entrees. We only got them after we complained to the waiter and I complained to the manager and the staff inside the restaurant. We saw food pick up constantly but the people eating outside were left for a ridiculous amount of time waiting for their food. I had the baked shrimp scampi which was ok and the three other diners had pasta dishes that were plain and not very tasty. A great disappointment after waiting all that time. If for the fact that we were starving we would have picked up and left. The restaurant obviously prioritizes the take out business. Will never go back.

Our family has been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. We’ve had multiple functions for either work or family and the restaurant has over the years remained relatively consistent. However we noticed our last visit was very disappointing. Prices went up and portions went down from the last time we were there the summer. The waiter hardly ever came to our table. However, the support staff was there quite often, but we had to track the waiter down if we wanted anything - not what we are usually used to. Food was good but a lot less than what were used to getting.

T
Tim Carries

Food was sub par…what you would expect from Italian in Connecticut. The appetizers were bland, the entrees were small and pretty over priced. The wait staff was attentive but strange…the ambiance was great but can’t say I will return.

Had lunch on a Sunday. 4 of us and the waiter took it upon himself to add a 22% tip. The food was just OK and the service was not great. We were the only table in there too! So to add such a large tip to a table of 4 was ridiculous! Won’t be back!

I have so much to say, I don’t know where to begin. When Maria and her husband ran the restaurant, it was a delightful place to go. We have been coming here for many, many years, and it was our favorite restaurant. The nephew has taken over and that is why the vibe in the restaurant is so very different. We have stopped going all together now, because we have been treated rudely by him so many times. We went with my son and his wife for dinner, and were put on the porch, where we were the only people. The nephew walked in and turned off the air conditioning, I guess, because we were the only people. We then asked the wait staff to turn it back on. We went for last Christmas Eve because my daughter loves the place and were put in front of a duct that was flowing cold air into the restaurant and she went up and asked if we could be moved, and they completely ignored us. My daughter also wanted to have her shower there and the shenanigans from the nephew about trying to shame us because three people had to drop out at the end due to a death was just unbelievable. He also complained that he was not charging us enough for the event. He is the one that took the reservation and set the price. There were numerous other issues which were very rude and annoying, but not worth even addressing here. My husband and I have stopped going, because we are tired of the attitude, and frankly do not feel like they appreciate or even want our business. Gianni really has given us the impression that what the patrons want is of no concern to him. We will have to find a different place to celebrate life‘s important moments.

My family has been patrons of Via Sforza for over a decade. It's a family restaurant, not looking for fine dining but a decent meal we all can enjoy. The overall quality has decreased as the years go by. There are solid standards that always please, clams casino and pizza are always great. But the service last night was so unbelievably depressing I just had to write it up in a review. There was a large wait staff at the ready, and they all looked miserable. Not a smile, no conversation about our dinner, experience, not even a thank you. We had to ask for things multiple times. BUT I did notice there was an included gratuity on the bill. It makes me wonder what's going on with management these days to have such an unpleasant, unhappy staff and mediocre food. The vibe is just not the same.

L
Lemon Shark

Horrible experience from start to finish (and beyond). Arrived a min early for our 7p rez, waited 6mins until someone even acknowledged us (and the other waiting guests), waited even longer until our table was ready. By 8p, our salad appetizers still hadn't arrived. By 8:40p our entrees were finally served except my sister's. When she asked how much longer until her food would be ready the reply was: I'm not in charge of the kitchen! Like, how dare you ask! The food was mediocre and not hot. We would normally get desserts and coffees but it was 9:15p, we had our kids with us and this place was so deep in the weeds we chose to skip it. And here's the kicker, at 1am my 11yr old was sick to her stomach and threw up her entire meal. Definitely cannot recommend.
