I had a wonderful birthday celebration at salt yard. The food is full of flavor. Sarah was really attentive and we were greeted with a very warm welcome. would definitely come back
Such a lovely night here! The food was so good, the atmosphere was great, and Siddhi took amazing care of us. Thanks for a wonderful evening can’t wait to come back!
Called for quick lunch yesterday. So impressed with food and service we bkd an evening meal for today. What can I say? Nothing mediocre about this place. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Hats off to the chefs and waitress/ waiters. Fab evening and best meal out in a long time. Recommend!
I celebrated my 40th birthday with 10 family members on a sunny Thursday afternoon in late June at Salt Yard. The service was excellent and Naila's team were exceptional. Naila was brilliant as well! She helped me with the additional booking process. Salt Yard arranged a lovely table for us in the main restaurant with scenic views. The food was excellent especially the starters burgers, croquettes, anchovies and prawns. For mains we had flattened chicken, fish, broccoli, lamb and a few more dishes. Salt Yard provided a menu that catered for both vegetarians and carnivores. It was a lovely day and restaurant to celebrate my milestone birthday. We were offered excellent Rose and beers. Also Salt Yard allowed me to bring in my own cakes. This is a gem of a restaurant within a lovely area of London! Excellent Spanish and Italian food.
We stumbled upon Salt Yard by chance when visiting Borough Market and are very happy we did! From the outside my partner thought it looked quite intimidating but the moment we entered we were greeted warmly and the service continued to be impeccable throughout. Our server Matteo was very attentive and always right there when we needed him, he helped to ensure our experience was nothing but enjoyable. The food was delicious, as was the padron margarita!! The only comment would be that the churros in the Churamisu could have been less doughy and more crunchy but it was still very delicious! Would highly recommend and will definitely come again!
Amazing Service from Sarah at The Salt Yard Seven of us went for a lovely meal on Friday 29th Jan 2026. We had a wonderful experience at The Salt Yard, tucked behind Borough Market, and a huge part of that was the exceptional service from our waitress, Sarah. From the moment we sat down, Sarah made us feel genuinely welcome. Her warm, friendly attitude and attentiveness set the tone for the whole meal. She was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and was patient with our questions and indecisiveness (always appreciated!). What really stood out was her balance of professionalism and genuine personality — she was prompt without being overbearing, had a great sense of humour, and checked in at just the right moments to make sure everything was perfect. There was a Remind me when we ordered a second bottle of wine but a young gentleman who served us just simply poured the wine heavy into seven wine glasses, but we hadn’t even finished our first bottle, which was still sitting in our classes . However sarah I was able to professionally and politely rectify the problem We’ll definitely be back — and hope to be served by her again! Highly recommended for service that goes above and beyond. 🍷🍽️ I highly recommend the beef pork belly, I just took a single star off (food) because the skewered lamb was a little bit dry…but on the whole - a very positive experience, and wonderful service
Enjoyed a tapas lunch at Salt Yard. Tried the bream with polenta, along with courgette, paired with Terradura Pecori white wine. The meal was very satisfying, especially the bream, which was fresh tasting, flavourful and delicious. Service was cordial, prompt and professional. The vibe is trendy in popular Borough, and prices are commensurate. Highly recommended!
I had an amazing time at Salt Yard! Shub was fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable, and really made the experience special. I tried a few whiskies and several cocktails, and every single one was perfectly mixed and full of flavour. The atmosphere was great, and the service made it even better. Definitely recommend visiting, especially if you’re into good drinks and great hospitality.
Stopped in for a quick lunch and was not expecting such fantastic little plates! Ollie was our server and provided above quality service for us. Finished it with some complimentary limoncello shots! Would recommend for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of borough market :)
I had an outstanding experience thanks to our waiter Ollie. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, courteous, and genuinely warm. He anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made sure everything arrived perfectly and on time. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail truly elevated our meal. It’s rare to receive service that feels both efficient and personal, but he managed to strike that balance perfectly. He made us feel welcome, cared for, and relaxed throughout the entire visit. Exceptional service like this deserves recognition. Thank you Ollie, for making our experience memorable — we will definitely return because of you.
Amazing service, Marina was so friendly extremely attentive and just all round lovely. The food was incredible we shared many dishes and every single one from the olives to the sea bream was delicious. Restaurant is super cute, music is a touch loud but you can still talk so not too bad and the aesthetic is very cute! 100% would recommend
We loved visiting the salt yard in borough and Tanvi provided excellent, efficient and friendly service. She had great knowledge of the menu. The food itself was good but some of the dishes were quite expensive - for example the sea bass small plate - it was a tiny portion for £15.50 and not particularly exciting. We loved the cabbage and the pumpkin dishes.
Outstanding upscale casual restaurant! The atmosphere is amazing with refined bar vibes, but the food brings it to the next level. The Sea Bream was awesome! Perfectly crisp skin, flavorful polenta, salty sea herbs, and caviar worked together nicely. The Delica Pumpkin was great too. The stracciatella and pomegranate molasses added richness and depth. The chocolate mousse was my favorite dessert. Rich, crunchy, and a perfect way to end the meal. The Churamisu looked spectacular, but it didn’t live up to its looks. The churro tasted bready since it was cold, and the cream filling lacked flavor. I would skip this one and go with the mousse instead. This was one of the best meals I had on my trip in London!
We had a lovely dinner with my daughters and couldn’t fault the experience. The tapas were delicious and the service from Siddhi was excellent—she looked after us so well. A special thank you for the limoncello, which was a lovely touch. Even though we didn’t have a booking, we were made to feel very welcome and were seated quickly. We’ll definitely be back.
Amazing food, exceptional service and the vibe on a Saturday afternoon for lunch was superb. Love the interior with its modern rustic feel. There was a slight misunderstanding on the “gluten free menu” I was given… note it’s the same menu but highlights which foods have gluten, and I misunderstood it to be everything on it was gluten free. We ordered patatas bravas, prawn pil pil, lamb skewers x2 & the delicious pumpkin stracciatella. 2 glasses of red wine, a black coffee, a Baileys & large bottle of water all came to £99 including service charge at 12.5%. Note that one of lamber skewers was on the house due to the gf menu misunderstanding after I had dipped my skewer in the gluten sauce but wasn’t told by my server until it was too late. Luckily I am only intolerant to gluten and not coeliac. If I read the menu properly then it probably wouldn’t have happened. I would most definitely return here again and I hope it will be very soon. Update: persuaded the boyfriend to bring me back for a Valentine’s luncheon… can’t wait!!
Incredible dinner at the Salt Yard. Food was quick to come out and oh my gosh, it was some of the best food I have ever eaten. The croquettes were to die for! We would definitely come back again when we return to London.
Loved lunch today at The Salt Yard with Ollie as our server! Great food recommendations and a delicious tasting menu :)
Stopped in after exploring the market and had the best time. Service was prompt and our server was so sweet and helpful! Marina made our experience great on our first time in London.
Perfect service provided by Siddhi, delicious food, charming atmosphere.
A lovely lunch in a warm and welcoming environment, and our server Ollie was great, super friendly and he really made our lunch special. Really enjoyed the tapas, great flavours and a lovely choice of dishes - loved the coffee jam!
The food was lovely and the service was brilliantly friendly Marina was a star 🌟
Marina did an impeccable service she was fantastic. He was able to advise us on some dishes in a professional and effective way. She took care of the table and this has strengthened our experience more. And also thank you Ollie for your availability in finding a place for our dinner…
We stopped by for some tapas on our way through Borough Market and were tremendously surprised. Exquisite tapas, prepared with great seasoning and variety. Kuddos to the kitchen! The attention was really nice and we felt very well taken care of. Highly recommended, we would gladly come back!
We had a lovely evening with fantastic food and wonderful service. Marina, our waitress was so helpful and made the evening special when she found dessert biscuits that were not on the menu!
Marina was so friendly & attentive in a professional manner. I actually commented to my friends how she went above and beyond (in a non intense way). The food was so yummy and the wine smooth. I’d never been here and so glad my friend bought me because I’d 100% make it a staple.
We had the most delicious Christmas work lunch at Salt Yard on the 17th December. Our Server Marina could not have been kinder and attentive- especially as it was so busy! Food was excellent. Loved the sea bream dish. I will be back!
I had a wonderful experience at this tapas restaurant. The food was delicious, but what truly made the evening stand out was the exceptional service from Ollie. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional throughout the night. Ollie made great recommendations, checked in at the perfect moments, and created a welcoming atmosphere that elevated our whole visit. Thank you, Ollie, for making our meal even more enjoyable 🙏we’ll definitely be coming back!
Exceptional Service from Neyla! We were absolutely blown away by the service from Neyla. She was warm, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure everything was perfect. From start to finish, she made us feel welcome and looked after with such professionalism and charm. Neyla had the perfect balance attentive without being intrusive, quick to notice what we needed, and always smiling. It’s rare to find someone who makes the whole dining experience feel effortless and personal, but she truly did. Thank you, Neyla you made our evening unforgettable! Florin
My bf took me for a lovely surprise bday meal. The food was absolutely delicious, great ambience and Marina made the experience really special for us as well. Would definitely recommend and will come back soon.
Had a great time here today. Food was great and service was quick and very well organised. Special shout out to Reka who served me and my group she was really friendly and looked after us the whole time.
I am a Spanish Londoner and I need to say that this place exceeded my expectations! The food was incredibly tasty. Tanvi and Siddhi are very knowledgeable, friendly and fufun.yThey made our night memorable. I will definitely come back as soon as I can!!!!
Food was increidble ! Shared 5 dishes with my Dad and a beautiful bottle of wine!! Marina was fabulous and made the day even more enjoyable ! Would definitely recommend & will be back!
Food was excellent, if some platters were small va price / expectation . Croquetas - superb. Warm Bread - great . Gambia’s pil pil - very decent portion very tasty . Steak tartare - delicious but needs to be a slightly larger portion . Cheese and antipasti carne platter - please see the photo - that meagre sliver is not an acceptable portion of manchego whatsoever ! Boquerones- disappointing in portion and texture . 2023 Ribeiro- amazing . Pork cheeks- very tender but somewhat lacking in flavour . Cheesecake - no biscuit base . Espresso - disappointing . Service was quick , place was a bit cold and lacking in atmosphere . Would probably return .
Very smart restaurant - enthusiastic manger / shift leader - Tapa style menu does mean having a meal of any substance is expensive - waiting staff were helpful in explaining options though it became more of a syndicate exercise. Food was well presented and flavoursome - and just as well given the premium prices plus of course service charge. This is a lovely restaurant with good service and good food in the heart of Bourgh Market so one makes their decision and pays the price.
Great ambience with excellent service. Perfect for smaller groups or couples. The food was fresh, full of flavour and very high quality however slightly disappointed with the overcooked duck breast (and portion size). From a pricing perspective, a little on dearer side and again, at that price point, was hoping everything to be cooked perfectly. In general, portion sizes are on the smaller size but great for sharing and trying different items on the menu
Lovely little bar and small plates restaurant close to Borough Market. Nice and relaxed vibe with upstairs and downstairs seating. Good selection of drinks with some interesting cocktails and the food was excellent too. Had the chefs tasting menu with some great dishes including prawns, duck, aubergine and croquettes. Staff were very friendly and attentive.
The drinks need improvement, we didn’t find anything particularly special, and they didn’t feel well executed. The tapas selection is quite limited and could benefit from better presentation and some recipe refinement. Overall, we’d give the experience 3 stars. On a positive note, the host was very kind, attentive, and welcoming, which we really appreciated.
Went last week after booking in advance. Unfortunately, despite booking my friend and I were seated next to a large and very loud table. At times we could not hear each other! Service was slow. I could not believe how long it took to order a drink. We were given an overview of the menu - tapas for sharing etc. Even for London, the prices are high based on what you get. This issue is exacerbated by many dishes not being easily sharable. A case in point is the scallop dish (yes, singular). I decided to order the dish.. remember we were told dishes are sharable… when ordering I was asked if we wanted two dishes (£9.50 each ) I asked why we would need two. I was told only one scallop per dish! When I said I thought dishes were to share I was told we could cut the scallop in half as it “quite big” … but it’s a queen scallop which are not large. Did not order the scallop dish in the end. Ate quickly and left. There was also a smell of sewage they were trying to cover up with incense sticks. Disappointed .
I am genuinely disappointed by the food and services provided by Salt Yard Borough tonight, given that I have pre-paid a £10 deposit per person for my group of 14, and have made food pre-orders beforehand worth of £300 (reaching £400 including drinks). Firstly, the table arrangement was not ideal for our group. We were told in the booking that we will be offered two high tables for our gathering, however we had no prior knowledge of the fact that the tables and chairs could not be moved. The host was not accommodating at all with our request and we were left feeling frustrated. Secondly, some of the staff were considerably rude to our group. In particular, a female staff was seen taking away our food and drinks without asking us, given that we have paid good money for the pre-ordered food. The food quality was the most disappointing part of the night. They were clearly pre-made and reheated, as seen in the hardened texture of the lamb skewers and prawns. I was in disbelief as the food alone was the most expensive part of the bill. The only two things that prevented this review from being a one-star were the quality of their cocktails (their Espresso Martini was decent), and the male staff who was very patient and helped us take our group photos. Overall I am not impressed with the service and quality of food, given the relatively high price point. This restaurant has been highly acclaimed on Google Maps, hence I decided to give it a go for my birthday celebration. The fact that none of the staff mentioned anything about birthdays indicated that they weren’t keen on providing their customers with quality service on special occasions. Unfortunately we had to take out the service charge for this disappointing experience.
If I could give zero stars, I would. I sat at the bar and ordered just a glass of wine, despite that they tried to charge me a service charge. I have no issue paying service when there’s actual service involved, such as food being served at a table but charging extra simply for pouring a glass of wine is unreasonable. When I questioned it, the woman behind the bar was extremely rude, and so was the man working with her. Neither offered an apology or explanation.
I really was disappointed by our recent visit to Brouagh salt yard. Last time the food and service weee great . But on Saturday 4 of us had the tasting menu thrown at us by our server. She plonked dished on top of empty plates not clearing away before serving the next round. She eventually pulled dished so high in a stack she knocked all the drinks over my coat and scarf. The apology was minimal, there was no awareness of how slap dash she was. Now I know it was valentines night and there were about 5 tables of couples but she and her colleagues had time to eat behind the bar and mess about while they forgot our drinks orders and served the food which was warm if not cold. All in all we won’t be back at £65 a head it was very poor. No customer service. Sad to see how bad an experience can get because of a disinterested unprofessional staff member . It was almost hilarious it was so bad
We went to Salt Yard for a corporate team dinner after work, as a large group we opted for the fixed menu. The main courses were mostly well cooked and tasty. We were served churros misu as desert which was bad, the churros were so tough we couldn’t cut them without real effort. During the meal our waitress stopped working so we asked the bar staff to replace the deserts, after a while the chef came out and explained they were fresh, and were meant to be like this, then told us many of us enjoyed them because some had been eaten, finally agreed to replace the untouched ones with an alternative. We has cheese cakes, which had strong flavours of smoked sausage in them, they were disgusting. Spending well over £1000 we felt the service was average, the food was average, and deserts simply unacceptable and especially the attitude of the chef. Avoid this place if you’re in the London Bridge area, there are so many better options.
