Some meals impress in the moment; others endure. Orchid Thai Cuisine belongs firmly to the latter. I waited six months before committing these thoughts to paper, allowing time to dull the memory if it could. It did not. My opinion has remained unwavering. I award five stars sparingly, and this restaurant earns every one. What distinguishes Orchid is not a single dish, but a standard that holds across the table. Every guest I have brought has shared the same reaction, regardless of what they ordered. From crab fried rice to basil duck, from pad thai to a range of appetizers, each plate carried the same clarity of flavor and precision of execution. There were no weak links, no safe choices—only confidence. The owners and chefs are Thai, and they bring themselves fully to the restaurant each evening. That presence is felt. Orchid often operates at full booking, and it is easy to understand why. This is a kitchen rooted in authenticity, where ingredients are not placeholders but essential voices in the composition. They source locally where possible, holding themselves to standards that prioritize quality and integrity. This is not a place of shortcuts. You will not find a Sysco truck idling outside. Everything is handmade, and the textures alone speak to the care behind each dish. Thai cuisine is as much about mouthfeel as it is about flavor, and here that philosophy is honored. Crisp gives way to tender, sauces cling without heaviness, and each bite carries the structure the dish intends. The food is deeply aromatic, engaging the senses before it ever reaches the palate. The basil duck, in particular, stands out—the light, delicate crisp of each basil leaf providing contrast to the richness beneath, a detail that lingers long after the plate is cleared. I have spent meaningful time in Thailand, and until Orchid, I had found most Thai food in the United States merely “fine.” Competent, sometimes pleasant, but rarely transporting. Orchid changed that. This is the first place that brought me back—not just in flavor, but in spirit. It feels true. I tried to find a flaw. I could not. Not in seasoning, not in balance, not in execution, not in hospitality. Months later, that search remains unsuccessful. If you have not been to Orchid Thai Cuisine, go. Do not wait. Experiences like this are rare, and they deserve to be sought out. My rating: ★★★★★ 1 star — I will never return. 2 stars — If nearby, I might return, but without urgency. 3 stars — Worth a visit if in the area, though not a destination in itself. 4 stars — Worth going out of your way to enjoy. 5 stars — I would fly around the world for this meal.

Love orchid Thai ! Truly a quaint spot, especially sitting on the patio area, with real orchids at every table. Have had the yellow and Penang curry before - both delicious. Enjoyed green curry tonight with papaya salad and pad woonsen! 10/10 recommend (:

We stopped in at the Orchid Thai restaurant after visiting the Morris Tiffany museum located in historic Winterpark. We had the appetizer sampler. It was was very good. Nice variety. Service was excellent. For entries we went with the Pararam Chicken and Traditional PadThai both in medium spice level. This spice level was perfect for our Texas palates. Just zippy enough to be interesting. Both dishes were tasty. It was so glorious fall day so we sat outside. Highly recommend.

Brandon was our server and he was great, very efficient, very kind and informative. We wanted for nothing. The food was delicious, we had the spring rolls, I had the red curry (it was outstanding) and my husband had the drunken noodles - we both enjoy drunken noodles typically but both enjoyed the curry more. Love the cucumber in the water, very refreshing, and different.

Wow! I found out today I love Thai Cuisine! I tried the Dumplings and the Drunken Noodles and both were perfect! The portion sizes are great! I got to take it a bit home as leftovers. Anyone can eat here, including vegans, they’re willing to modify the meat with tofu or veggies

Went to Orchid Thai for a late lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Our experience didn’t start great we had to ask for our table to be cleaned I think the server was upset. Thankfully we had an other server take care of us. She was ok. We opted to sit outside which was okay we had the pineapple fried rice, yellow curry and chicken pad Thai. The pad Thai was deeelicious! The curry was great filled with lots of veggies and heat (my fried opted for the Thai hot 🔥🔥🔥that’s how she likes it. The pineapple fried rich was delicious filled with raisins cashews and pineapple and served in a 1/2 of a pineapple. If you are on Park Ave in Winter Park stop by grab a meal - I’ll be back and I already know what I plan on ordering.

How is this place not on the Michelin Guide yet?! We lived in Thailand for over 2 months in 2022 and we have NEVER found a Thai restaurant in Florida that comes even close to the quality and flavor of food we found in Thailand…until today. Orchid Thai Cuisine is just like if you were to compare a fancy steakhouse filet mignon to a frozen Walmart steak…Walmart just doesn’t compete at all, and the same for the other Thai restaurants in Orlando. As someone who has been to MANY Thai restaurants, trust me when I say this: this is one of the best restaurants on Park Avenue and in all of Winter Park, and for the price? Unbeatable! There are restaurants in the Mills/50 area that mimic street food (e.g. place an order at the counter and grab a number, wait to be called) and they cost THE SAME. EVEN MORE. And this is a sit-down restaurant on Park Avenue with great service - incredible! When you come here, you could get virtually anything and be extremely happy with your meal - they have something called mieng kum, a dish I’ve only ever found in Thailand, and never in the US. If places do have it, they just use regular lettuce and NOT betel leaves, which honestly make the entire dish because of their unique flavor. It is a fantastic snack and they replicate it so well here. They also have an amazingly flavorful Thai beef jerky & sticky rice appetizer, which is a must-try as well. Their panang curry is the best we’ve ever had (even including ones we tried in Thailand), the PEI mussels are incredibly unique and a really great balance to other dishes, and the curry puffs are a flavor-bomb of goodness! The Thai donuts are of course always a treat at the end of your meal, and there are just so many incredible options you don’t find at other Thai restaurants. Seriously, if you love Thai food, you want to take things “to the next level” and try higher-end Thai food compared to what you find elsewhere, you need to come here. We instantly found a favorite and will be coming back many more times!! PS: You have real orchids on every table here, and you can buy them and take them home if you like them - a neat touch considering the restaurant name!

If I could choose one word to describe my experience here it would be delightful. We dined here during the Winter Park Art Festival and the outside dining was great. The food was very tasty and very fresh. The chicken satay was a good way to begin the meal. The pad Thai was flavorful but not spicy. The garlic prawns were very tasty as was the broccoli and carrots that it came with. The chicken pad woonsen was also very tasty. The staff were very nice and it was just a delightful experience.

One of if not the best Thai restaurant we’ve ever eaten at. We go every time we get a chance. Their tilapia in three spice was an unexpectedly delicious dish, and a real standout on the menu that blends innovative dishes with Thai staples. I also love that they have outdoor dining which when the weather is nice is a treat.

This is a gem in Winter Park! Fantastic food and the service was top notch. I started with an app sampler that was out of this world. Each of the sauces was explained to me and what they went with. I chose the basil duck for my main, and let me tell you, it was perfectly prepared. I highly suggest you take the time to stop in for a great Thai meal!

My family and I recently dined at Orchid Restaurant, and we were thoroughly impressed with the entire experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for a family meal. The service was outstanding—attentive, friendly, and prompt. The staff made sure we felt welcome and were well taken care of throughout our visit. They were particularly accommodating to our family's needs, which made the dining experience even more enjoyable. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. We particularly enjoyed [mention specific dishes if you want], which were cooked to perfection. The menu had a great variety, ensuring there was something for everyone, including our kids. Overall, Orchid Restaurant exceeded our expectations. The combination of top-notch service, excellent food, and a family-friendly atmosphere made it a truly memorable dining experience. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

Ah… Strolling Winter Park on Presidents Day in cloudy and cooler feeling temps to cross the road to wander and cane upon Orchid Thai Cuisine. Glad we stepped inside and explored the menu: jasmine tea; Thai beer; spring rolls; coconut lemongrass soup and for entrees: green curry with duck and pineapple stuffed fried rice chicken and shrimp. We are happy to give high ratings. The flavors and servings exceeded our hopes and we want to encourage others to step inside. Basel is a terrific server, attentive, polite and full of helpful suggestions. I caught a picture of the fried fish making its way to another table; maybe on our next visit we may try.

I’ve tried about 10 different Thai restaurants in the Orlando area, and this is the best! - It was authentic while also having a mix of unique dishes that kept me surprised and begging for more! - We started out with the chicken satay and crispy orchid spring rolls. Great peanut sauce and plum sauce👌 - My main course was the Thai coconut soup and salmon ginger salad, highly recommend. My husband had the pineapple chicken fried rice which was served inside half a pineapple for beautiful presentation. We’ll definitely be back! Thanks Orchid 🌺🪷

Had a fabulous and delicious lunch at Orchid Thai in Winter Park with friends. Excellent service from Mina. She was generous with sharing her knowledge and recommendations about the menu offerings. Are you looking for a treat for your taste buds? If so, look no further; Thai Orchid will leave you tongue tied as you try to explore every color on their taste palette. Try the drunken noodles or maybe their dumplings, everything here is worth sampling. Located in the heart of downtown winter park you can dine outside while shoppers pass you by. Enjoy the view and food and then maybe take a stroll yourself and explore the surrounding shops and other amenities. 10/10

I enjoyed the food here it was pretty good. It’s also probably one of the more reasonably priced restaurants on Park Ave. The drunken noodles were particularly wonderful but the pad Thai was just so-so, so I rate this a 3. It was a bit dry. We did get some spring rolls that had shrimp in them and they were very nice with the peanut sauce that was delivered to the table. I would definitely go back and try it again. UPDATE 9/2020 - Despite being very busy, the service as well as the food were both outstanding! The owner or manager was around tonight ensuring everything was going smoothly, helped the servers and came by to ask how our experience was - classy. My wife and I had a wonderful time tonight. Oh, P.S. Order a side of the peanut sauce it is fabulous. They just brought a little dish and next time I will be asking for a bigger one so good!

The restaurant itself is fairly small and they seem to really get as many people in there as possible which makes for an environment on the louder side of things. We were also there at a “rush” time so it wasn’t like we weren’t aware of this being a possibility. It’s just a little tight inside regardless. There is a nice space out front the restaurant and is right in the midst of a great DT winter park area. The hostess was more concerned with who she clearly thought a cute bus boy. Regardless we were sat by our server. She was pleasant but possibly overwhelmed. Either way, she did her job with a smile. The Thai iced coffee was amazing 💯🔥 didn’t get a pic but it is a pretty sight. The curry was amazing. A little thin for my liking but amazing flavors regardless. The pad Thai was “very good” (she liked it, but probably wished she got something more exciting). Overall a very nice dining experience.

I’ve dined here several times over the last three years, enjoying the whole fried snapper and the mussels. My husband and I had a late lunch there yesterday. It was a little too cool to dine on the nice front sidewalk patio area so we ate inside as I have before that was a mistake because the room temperature felt like it was 60° thanks to very efficient air-conditioning even though the front door was open to the ambience temperature which was probably about 70. I had the muscles which were beautifully presented; however, a significant number were undercooked and or bad because they were slimy yucky, which I realized, after trying one, and then more carefully looking at those to follow. They were also cold, although they weren’t advertise, nor did I have them previously as a cold Shared appetizer. The accompanying shrimp toast was very good as it has been in the past. The sticky rice side dish was cold. My husband‘s garlic shrimp was good except she wasn’t expecting that they were whole, large shrimp with the tail on so he had difficulties – – we are seniors – – eating them because he had to manage with his poor kid knife. He said the carrots were good and soft. The broccoli presented some problems and his Traditional rice was Room temperature at best. Service was efficient and courteous. I will not return.

My wife and I went to dinner last night. There were 2 servers, ours said she had been there 2 days and the other seemed experienced (she ignored us). It took 20 minutes to get ourselves a seat as we were ignored and another 20 for us to get a menu. In contrast, halfway thru our meal 2 couples came in, were seated and had their drink orders take immediately by the experienced server. I'm not upset at our server for being left flailing as that just speaks of bad management. The food and drinks were good so if you go, good luck with who serves you as management doesn't care about the quality of service you receive.

I'm not upset at our server for being left flailing as that just speaks of bad management. The food and drinks were good so if you go, good luck with who serves you as management doesn't care about the quality of service you receive.
