Lovely little spot. Delicious food made to order, extremely generous portions and the most hospitable team. Pro-tip: for larger groups dining in, you can call your order in ahead if you have less time in your schedule to spend at the restaurant.
Food is amazing, so flavourful, so high quality. The portions are amazing, the lady who served us was amazing, very well mannered. However the WAIT….a bit much. Next time I will order an hour before I get there. Too good of a spot to be mad about wait times. I can’t wait to get back to try more flavours. The dal soup- yummmmmy! The soy tikka masala yummmy! If this wasn’t an hour and a half from me, I would have been there weekly. The cook is amazingly talented!
What an excellent restaurant. Rocky was our server and her positive attitude was very uplifting. We are grateful that we happened upon this place. Such a peaceful atmosphere and the food was outstanding! This is a genuine 5 stars across the board.😄😊🙌
This is not fast food, they take their time, however if you have the time it's some of the best food in town whether you're a vegetarian or not. The atmosphere is extremely peaceful and we enjoyed the outdoor seating. The Kung poa "chicken", tofu curry, and kulcha were all really fantastic. I'm not sure I would describe it as entirely authentic ethnic dishes, but whoever is cooking them puts in a lot of work and they taste great.
I had the mixed green salad and the sourdough bread with butter. Everything came out looking beautiful and tasted even better. The restaurant itself is cozy and well decorated. The paintings (I have heard that they are by someone who works here) are gorgeous. Wonderful place with great people (seriously! the customer service is great!) and great vibes. It takes a little bit to come out but the wait is well worth it!!
One of my favorite places to eat when I lived in the area, and still a favorite to visit when I return. Food takes a while to make and it is worth the wait! I call ahead and place my order so they can start working on it before I get there. Everything is delicious, but my favorites are the protien burrito, tofu curry, pakora, and the chai.
Atmosphere is warm, rustic and inviting. Service was caring, attentive and calm. There may be a little wait time but that is simply due to the food being made to order for each person. Ingredients were fresh, flavorful and real which made the food delicious! Fantastic vegan menu, left with a happy and full belly!
I love the food here! It IS Indian spice based- my friend doesn't care for indian style spices, but I ordered the sourdough bread and lentil soup to go-- it was excellent! They have reduced the number of tables since the beginning of 2021-- there are three tables indoors and three outdoors. Sunday when we went, the tables were taken. Call first if you want to eat in!
Great food. You have to remember that every dish is made from scratch so remember to be patient. It is worth the wait.
This is my absolute favorite restaurant to go to. The food is unique and very tasty. I also love the atmosphere, sipping my chai tea whilst I wait for my meal. I will say, if you don't like to wait 45 minutes to an hour to eat then this is not the place for you. I personally do not mind the wait. The food is well worth it! It's where I like to be at the end of a 'me' day.
WOW! The food was amazing! The restaurant was so comfortable and cozy. We were so lucky to have been able to eat outdoors with our 2 dogs. Our server was so very sweet and attentive. Food was definitely created and served with love!
We stopped here on a drive from Watertown back to the city. We were looking for a place to go for lunch that served vegan food, and we were so pleased! We tried the carrot ginger juice, lemonade, and pakora as a starter, and they were all incredible. My nephew had the nuggets and fries. My brother in law and I had the vegan blat sandwich…cannot recommend enough. My sister had the protein burrito and enjoyed it. The aesthetic is very cute and the service was amazing. Hopefully will have a chance to go again if we are in the area!
I have been vegetarian for six years and have never found a restaurant that i don’t have to customize the food to make it meatless. I got the fishless and chips and it was amazing. My husband spilled his juice and they gave him a towel and a new juice free of charge. The staff/service is outstanding, we will definitely be returning!
What a delightful experience! I ate at the Red Dot restaurant today for the first time - while visiting family in the area - I'm from Rockland County - and I really enjoyed the food and the environment. The food was delicious, authentic and all the ingredients were natural. The staff was so pleasant and courteous. I would highy recommend this restaurant to anyone - and I wish they had a location in Clarkstown (my county). I plan to return soon.
Always fresh, always delicious! You can definitely taste the love in every bite. We understand that food like this takes time, so we happily and patiently wait to enjoy all our favorite meals again and again. Thank you beautiful Red Dot staff you’re the best! ♥️
My favorite place to eat. The dishes are fresh, delicious, nourishing and quite honestly - divine! The atmosphere is welcoming, uplifting and happy! I am grateful every time I get the chance to dine at the magical Red Dot 💕
I’ve walked past this place for 8 or so years and never stopped in. I checked out the website and the buckwheat pancakes caught my eye. Stopped in today and boy was I blown away!! I had the beet/carrot juice and the pancakes were incredible!! Why did I wait so long??
My family and I had a great experience here, food was great and service was good. They serve a good amount of food, which I like. Overall I would recommend them!
Yes, the wait is long but the food is amazing! Every time we go to NY, we make the effort to come here. The ambiance is wonderful and the staff are so friendly and helpful! Will definitely be back!
Fresh, unique food, big portions, reasonable prices, allergy friendly
WOW AMAZING!!!! My husband and I have been to so many vegan/vegetarian restaurants and this is one of the best. Definitely our favorite in the Hudson Valley. One recommendation - order your food ahead if you plan to dine in, the food is fabulous and fresh and takes a bit of time to cook.
Absolutely exquisite culinary experience! Always exciting and fresh! But it takes time to make so call ahead! But if you can wait there it' no better vegan anywhere around here!
My girlfriend and I have come here with her sister and her sister’s boyfriend multiple times. Please note to all people they prepare everything fresh and pray over the food so it take some time to get your food. But it is well worth it. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is lovely. I recommend the curries. Amazing place. Also it’s super easy to find parking on the Main Street.
They are so accommodating and super sweet! We were visiting from out of town and called around closing time to order takeout. The lady (sorry couldn’t catch your name!) was the sweetest lady ever. The food was top notch! Quantity and quality surpassed our expectations. Nice to know there is still good in this world!
I was driving through Walton when I saw this place and decided to give it a try. I was amazed how good the food was. Everything made from scratch with fresh whole food ingredients. A must try. I highly recommend this place.
Been here twice now and loved it. Bring a friend or a good book and enjoy the calm, peaceful wait cause your order is being made with love from scratch. No fast food here, so expect a meticulous detailed approach to your meal. I ordered the Kung Pao medium hot with the veg chicken…it was DELICIOUS!!! And what made it better was the authentic smile from the chef and staff.
This wonderful eatery couldn't have been better! Our party of five enjoyed an intimate setting, absolutely delicious food, and wonderful service! We felt as though we were enjoying a meal in a wonderful friend's home. The prices are so reasonable, too! Cannot wait to visit again! (Even the non-vegetarians in our party were delighted with the options and the portions!)
Food was phenomenal. I’m not a vegetarian but loved this. Great gluten free options too.
Excellent home made meals from scratch. Highly recommend!
Stumbled upon this restaurant while on a road trip with my wife, and we were looking for a place that matches our dietary restrictions which is so hard in those parts of NY. We were very much surprised and pleased to find this place, staff were very friendly and food was very fresh. I had the burrito with paneer which was phenomenal and my wife had the blat sandwich which was good too! If I’m ever in the area I would come again.
Awesome meals breakfast, lunch and dinner I could eat there all day, always knowing food was prepared in the healthiest way no shortcut microwaved meals here. Appreciate the variety of vegetarian meals. Zucchini bread was awesome. Of course we always get a fresh made juice or lassi. Amount of food is great we ate our leftovers for lunch.
Honesty, I don't know why I was skeptical. The food was soo good! I had the vegan blat and the multi grain waffle. Even the side salad tasted phenomenal. I'm definitely going to try recreating the tomato aioli at home. The wait time is a bit long but absolutely worth it. The portion sizes are huge and the management is friendly and responsive. Can't go wrong with this place.
It was a beautiful place with a fairly good serving size and a fairly small menu. Doesn't serve beer or wine and every dish comes with a vegan variation. Stuffed parathas and kulcha were quite huge in size and even the bread pakoda as a starter was a large quantity but the bread was hard. The split pea soup as well as the lentil soup was basically thick like a dal and not thin like a soup but you seriously don't need a curry with the parathas because the chutney they serve with it is sufficient and tasty too provided one like a sweet, sour and mildly spicy chutney. Basically a fully Indian style place with surprisingly no Indian staff.
Everything we ate here was excellent. We tried the lentil soup, pakora, sourdough bread, waffles, breakfast potatoes and more. So so good. Do not hesitate to try this place. I wish I lived closer. (Note: Everything is made fresh when you order, so don't expect a fast food restaurant, but it is worth the wait for sure. I would much rather have something made fresh, than made earlier and reheated.)
Amazing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff are friendly and food fresh and amazing. Terrific flavors of healthy and tasty food. Strongly recommended if you live in the area or are visiting.
Delicious vegetarian dishes! Both the protein burrito and Kung Pao Chicken were amazing. Very flavorful. We asked for it to be spicy and they definitely delivered. Based on the reviews I'm sure the other dishes are just as yummy. We also tried the masala chai and it was quite shocking how good it tasted. I come from an Asian background so finding a good masala chai similar to one that my mom makes is hard to find. I highly recommend eating here whether you are vegetarian or not. The seating and ambience here is very cute and homey type feeling. The staff is very kind and hospitable. You will not regret dining here!
Great food! I have been here several times for lunch and dinner. Always consistent and delicious! Ordered to go, ate in.
Well worth the detour off I-84. Welcoming little place, that was slightly quirky, in a beautiful small historic tourist town. The food was amazing and healthy. We had the prefect day to eat outside. The pea and lentil soups were both very tasty and filling. The savory "pancake" made with vegetables was so unique with the sauce. My son had the quesadillas. I didn't miss the meat at all. Very satisfying meal. We enjoyed it very much.
We drove from Bethel Woods to enjoy a vegan dinner. The Red Dot was recommended by a friend and now we are big fans! We love Indian cuisine and the Yellow split pea soup and Tikka dishes were incredible! The bread pakora was amazing and the Zucchini bread pictured delicious. Well worth the trip 👌
My boyfriend and I stopped here to eat and unfortunately could not give a full review from this experience. We were told at first that our food was going to take 45 minutes, than 10 minutes later informed that it would take 1hr 30min. There were just 3 tables besides us. I think that the quality of their food is phenomenal and each dish is made to order to perfection. I have eaten here before a few years back and it was amazing. This time we were only able to have the daal which was the best I’ve ever had and the soy nuggets which was the only things we could eat that would take less than 20 mins to prepare. The staff is lovely so that is why I’m upping this to 5 stars.
The Red Dot is a very charming place. The food was excellent and, as an added bonus, all of the menu options had clean & simple ingredients. I have an egg and tree nut allergy, so breakfast food is a bit of a challenge for me when eating out. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes topped with fresh fruit. This came with Organic maple syrup and/or their in-house vegan syrup (which is definitely worth trying). The Mother's smoothie is unlike any other smoothie I've had with ingredients like rose water, yogurt, carrot and beet juices. I had a wonderful experience here with Hannah! Thank you for the excellent meal and overall service!
Amazing vegetarian food. I’m so glad I got an extra jar of sauce because it was delicious
Very tasty food. Close to homemade than a commercial kitchen, given the service oriented culture they have. You can always ask for any customized request. But there could be many people during rush time and wait time can be high. The food is made to order so be ready to wait for a bit after you order. But it is worth the wait. So you may choose to order early if it is a take out.
I drove out from NJ to hike the Shawanagunk ridge and I stopped here beforehand. I ordered the vegan protein burrito and it was amazing! I'm so grateful places like this exist in small towns, I will definitely be returning for more meals and more hikes :)
I love going here and the food is so good. I see everyone else agrees, but I would say the food can take a long time —so come prepared with things that your kids can do while you wait. Great people too! Thank you for the great food and kindness!
Ok so first and foremost…. Amazing. I was in the area last year and tried to go for lunch, unfortunately they were closed for an event. I was back in the area today and was fortunate enough to be able to try it. The portions are HUGE… you have been forwarned! The pakora was excellent, loved the variety of veggies and the sweet chili sauce. We also had the kungpo and a paratha…. Needless to say… we have leftovers for days… Service and atmosphere was wonderful, friendly and cheerful. Felt like we had dinner at a friends house. The energy was so peaceful and the food was made with love. 💕
Holy homemade paneer, Batman. I'll be real-- the food took a minute. I ordered takeaway and they said 25 minutes and it ended up being more like 40 minutes, so I wouldn't recommend this place if you're in a rush. Also, I ordered the tikka masala which in my experience has tomato in it but this was very brown in color and quite minimal on the saucy side. Personal preference, but I like a rich, creamy sauce. All that said, the flavor of the spices used was lovely. For the area, the prices are a little bit high and the portions don't really commensurate. But now let me get back to the paneer. I'm willing to overlook a lot for this paneer. Maybe everything. It's so soft and moist. I'll be back, I'll wait as long as they need me to, and I'll fork over whatever price they set. It's so nice to have a vegetarian place in the area as well. We need more delicious and healthy food places in the area!
OUTSTANDING! All is made from scratch and really fresh! I have a gluten and tree nut allergy and the owner and the staff were very mindful of this. The chicken dish shown here is what I got and it was so tasty! My cousin got the wrap and loved it. She also said the fries were to die for! Can't wait to go back! YUMMM!
The food was spectacular, we drove about 40 minutes away to try this place out. Amazing vegan options which was refreshing. Tried the pancakes, waffles, potato pancakes, tofu scramble wrap was my favorite, so fresh and delicious. The staff was so friendly and accommodating . Only advice is to call ahead and place your order. It is a bit of a wait as the kitchen is small so it took some time, just have patience and don’t come if you’re in a rush. Also try the iced teas so good !!
We had such a lovely meal here! Great food, great vibe and great staff. The weather was beautiful and we sat on their generous porch taking in Wurtsboro. We shared their vegetable pakora which was a flavorful and unique take on the dish, perfectly fried and seasoned. And also shared their Dal which was warm and comforting. They have three housemade bread options, the two we tried were great. Loved the vegetable curry I had as an entree and appreciated that you could choose your own spice level. We definitely ordered too much food and left stuffed and happy, looking forward to trying more of the menu. A gem.
We were camping nearby and wanted to try something local and unique. We were with some vegetarian friends and were very surprised to see a vegetarian restaurant nearby. We are so happy we stopped by Red Dot. We ordered 'chicken' nuggets, fishless tacos, and the BLAT wrap. Wish I had taken photos of everything. The BLAT wrap was definitely a highlight. The staff was very accommodating and able to seat us even with two large dogs. The only downside may have been the wait. Meals are made fresh as they are ordered so it took a while to get our food. However, the quality definitely makes it worth the wait. They were relatively busy though so not sure how the wait would have been during non-peak hours. Would definitely come back here when in the area.
Both the very friendly staff and the enticing aroma of delicious food greet you as soon as you open the door. Portion sizes are very generous. Vegan Thai iced tea is delicious. The vegan custard for dessert is a must! Both the Tikka masala curry and the general tso's special (which was a huge dish) are excellent and I would highly recommend. I will definitely return to try more of their eclectic dishes!
The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the service was great. The food was well prepared, fresh and tasty. Many Indian variations and tofu dishes. It is very difficult to find plant-based restaurants, so I am happy this is here.
Food was yummy. Strange that we got charged extra for nondairy milk i. A vegetarian restaurant
The food is great. It is fresh and the restaurant is clean and beautiful. The staff is friendly. Only downside is that you will wait for food. I mean that you will wait 45 mins or more. Thy are honest and upfront when you get there that that the food takes a long time to be prepared.
This place has incredible food, very unique but even my picky husband likes most things on the menu. It is truly a home cooked meal and a lot of love is put into making it. That being said, it takes very long to get your food but well worth it if you have the time
This cute little spot has the BEST food! Everything is made fresh, which adds to the wait time of getting your food but it's worth the extra time. The owner and servers have always been incredibly personable and attentive. Make sure to call ahead or go early if you do plan on eating in. Because of the small quarters, it can be hard to seat a group during busy hours.
The food itself is 10/10 stars. So delicious, healthy, and decent potions. However, the service is slow because they are understaffed. The food took an hour and we didn't get water until we got our food. Regardless, we still can't wait to return on our next trip through the Catskills as the food was outstanding. Someone who's had a lot of Indian/Thai cuisine, this place hits all the flavors and textures spot on. Great balance between creamy and crunchy. If you love curry and tikka masala I highly recommend trying this spot!!
Me and a friend stopped by to grab a meal. We sat outside and ordered Thai iced tea which was refreshing and we both ordered another one. We ordered our food which took about 45 minutes to come. The waitress did not come and check on us. I had to go inside and ask how long the food will take. Thank goodness we didn't have anywhere to go. My food was good. I ordered the Tikka Masala Curry. My friend got the Blat sandwich which was missing a side salad. We went inside to ask about the side salad and they said they put it on the sandwich which was nowhere near the size of a side salad. They brought out the salad anyway with no dressing or seasoning which should have come with olive oil or lemon juice. The second round of drinks were not as good as the first round because they said they didn't have the same ingredients so of course they did not taste the same as the first time. The one waitress complained about alot going wrong in the kitchen that day. I'm not sure I will be back. The location is nice. The aesthetic is cool but they need some customer service training and definitely a kitchen manager.
They let you know it will take a while for your food upfront so no complaints about the wait. The curry and paratha we got were good but I feel like they could have been better for the price and wait. Loved the service and the place was very relaxing and open, but would not go back. They did give me a free banana tho so that’s a plus
Love the ginger cinnamon chai, the flavor is absolutely amazing. The protein burrito is delicious. I also tried Kulcha I didn’t like it too much. I thought it had more cheese and flavor. I recommend this place if you want to try something different. I think the prices are a little high for the area especially for the tea.
The flavor profiles here were amazing. Tikka masala curry and this burrito were top notch flavor and great portions for a reasonable price. Service was great as well. Will definitely return. EDIT: came back a few times since. Food just as good, but service is the slowest. 3 tables inside. Only two filled (5 people), took almost 2 hours for main course. 1 hour for an appetizers. Definitely only order to go.
Let’s start at the beginning when I walked in the restaurant there was a negative energy present. I used to frequent this restaurant all the time until I moved. The service wasn’t the same as when Rocky was there with her bright smile and welcoming presence. After I paid Hannah decided to approach me aggressively and very unprofessionally about a terrible real estate agent she referred to me while other patrons were eating. I calmly told her my business dealings with her lousy referral should not be discussed in this establishment and it was inappropriate. She still continued to tell me that the agent was a top seller but failed to recognize the mishandling of the sale because she was clueless. Next time know the facts before your interject your two cents and stick to what you do know and that is food. It was so inappropriate and unprofessional.
We drove an hour to come here, and made sure to call the day before to confirm that the restaurant would be open. We got there the next day, during the time the staff member suggested would be quietest, and we were told that they were only serving oatmeal and waffles until 1 PM due to a catering order. If they can’t run the kitchen while prepping for catering, either close the restaurant, or train the staff so they know how to inform patrons. We ended up having to go eat at the Wurtsboro Diner, which wasn’t ideal as I have a dairy sensitivity, but the staff there was at least well-informed and accommodating. Given how the staff/owner handle things at The Red Dot, I can’t care how good the food may be if the service is that poor.
Made it through the door and the waiter, menus in hand was going to seat the two of us when a woman appeared out of nowhere and said they were full ( There were empty tables on the porch and empty tables inside) and she said takeouts were backed up for two hours and they had reservations. The walter looked genuinely surprised. I work in the industry and something didn't sit right. It really felt as if she were judging us by appearance.
Really really disappointed. We drove an hour to get here , called ahead to make sure of diet ect. Got the worst service , waited almost an hour for an appetizer, and the food was super mid. For how snarky they are the food should have been better.
We did not have a good experience, the waitress ignored us and began waiting on a table that came in after us. Had to ask for menus. No warm welcome, rude staff, told might not want to stay ,kitchen backed up , in a very abrasive way. The waitress kept complaining about how busy they are and all the take out orders they had. Saw the same thing happen to other customers who came in, including 3 elderly patrons, no appreciation showed for walking through their door. There is a way to say things nicely and appreciatively, and than there is a rude way . The rude waitress than got my order wrong, and forgot things I requested. One of our dishes was good and the other was not edible. There also was a fly issue. It was our first and last time there. Needs new management!!!
I wish I could tell you about the food, but after sitting at our table for an hour, we had to leave. They hadn’t even started on our order! We were told it would be a little while upfront, okay sure. But waiting an hour for food is ridiculous. They never refilled our water either. Inefficient business model. I appreciate a scratch kitchen and wholesome foods but you have to figure out a better way to serve customers in a timely fashion.
We have no rating at this time. We were looking forward to trying the restaurant because of its wonderful reviews. However, be aware of the serving time. It says they are open until 8pm.. We arrived there at 6:45 and were turned away because they said kitchen was closed at 6:30pm. The same thing happened to a friend of ours the night before. Perhaps they could put that on their website in parentheses after the 8pm closing time. We are looking forward to trying again. The food looks wonderful.
