Amazing food and friendly staff. Affordable prices too. Large menu selection and you get free tea. I recommend the BBQ stir fry rice. 10/10
A fantastic gem off the beaten touristic path. Expect a simple clean dinning room with just 9 or 10 tables, but the food will win you over. Freshly cooked and authentic. We devoured every dish and will return to this place for sure. We paid $70 for the plates you see in the photos.
Mama’s and papa’s Chinese comfort food. Had Singapore style noodles and eggplant tofu with rice. Complimentary tea on the house. Be aware, there’s a fee for using card so bring cash. Been ordering secret menu item: Sweet and sour tofu with green beans and mushrooms. Served with steamed or fried rice. A must for vegetarians and vegans.
Generous portions. Bring cash if you're buying something less than $20 or order something worth $20 because that's their minimum for credit cards. I got the HK noodles with pork chops for $13 (w/tax) and was not able to finish it for lunch and had to finish for dinner. Totally worth it. It's definitely for sharing and absolutely delicious typical hole in the wall Chinese fast food.
Genuine Chinese flavors! The wonton soup and fried rice are standout dishes—definitely worth trying. Generous portion sizes. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu!
Authentic Chinese food, delicious. Its a small place that you really share tables with strangers. Just whatever spots available prolly around 20 spots. Cashier is the server too.
Generous portion, tasty and reasonable price, always my choice for Chinese take out. If you dine in, wonton soup or wonton noodle is recommended, especially during cold days. The fried noodle was OK, but sometimes it tastes a bit bland, although it has the wok hey. The other entree are delicious.
Amazing food, amazing service, dainty and nifty spot to grab some grub. My friend visited San Francisco for the first time and had a great time chowing down on chow mein here.
September 2023: Stopped by for lunch and ordered the chicken chow fun and the won ton noodle soup. Both were very tasty. I added the hot crisp sauce to the chow fun to give it an extra boost! I thought it was delicious. I'd come back again for more delicious chow fun 🤩. The won ton noodle soup was very tasty too. I'd come back again for more Chinese food.
New Fortune Restaurant is a hidden gem! We tried the Wonton Soup and Beef Chow Fun, both were delicious. The wontons were packed with flavor and had a great texture, with a perfectly seasoned broth complementing the generously filled wonton dumplings. The thin wrap of the wontons added a delightful texture to each bite, making it a standout dish that I wholeheartedly recommend. The Beef Chow Mein was tasty and affordable. The staff were friendly, and the small store had everything we needed for a great meal. Highly recommend!
Been here couple times, great place for a quick bite along with great service. I recommend coming in a smaller party or alone because it gets crowded quick. They offer authentic Chinese dishes from soup to stir frys. Definitely will be back !
Great food. We had the Won-ton soup and the General chicken with rice. Came with a complimentary green tea

I totally fell in love with that place. We had different dishes like Wonton soup, peking spare ribs and eggplant. All dishes were very tasty and the portion size was great. It’s very authentic Chinese food. Especially the price ist for SF standards great. A meal was between 10-12$. The waitress was very nice. The restaurant itself is small and doesn’t look fancy.

Really impressed with this restaurant in Chinatown we went to today. It had freshly made great Chinese food. Great choices, great service. They even served tea with your meal. Good price. Small restaurant but that’s how they all looked there in Chinatown. I had the General Tsao and it was the best I have ever had. My husband had the hot and sour soup and loved it too. Would highly recommend if you visit Chinatown.
The food here was phenomenal. Me and my wife had sweet and sour chicken, black pepper chicken, and Chicken lo mein. And we loved it. Definitely worth a try here. Especially since it’s so hard to choose from so many options. I will be back here again
Excellent Cantonese food. Locals line up out the door, very limited seating, but well worth the wait. Had the 3 meats chow mein. Hot chili and white pepper on the table- which is fresh and spicy and completely ups the spice on the dish 😋. Will come back again and again
Great hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant with a solid menu, many Chinese American dishes, speedy service, and complimentary tea. I went on a Friday afternoon for lunch and, I ordered the seafood plate with crispy noodles. This was my first time dining here, and I appreciated how quick my food was delivered. There aren’t many vegetarian or plant-based options, and I didn’t see tofu listed at all. But prices are pretty affordable, and I recommend paying in cash due to the credit card fee. Indoor seating is limited, so plan to go during slower business hours or order takeout. Overall, I would recommend!
Very homestyle Chinese food spot in the city - the menu has both typical (chow mein/chow fun) and atypical dishes (salted fish fried rice for example) and a wide variety of wonton/noodle soups. I think it was definitely very authentic tasting, but I do feel like it was missing that little extra edge to give it top marks. Reasonable pricing (not cheap not expensive) but the only real downside is the space inside is *limited* and they get *busy* - from the time we asked for a table to the time we ate, it was about 45-50 minutes on a Sunday lunch day. They can’t help it, the space is small - but just be aware if you’re starving. Also the middle table is like family style so you sit with strangers next to you.
Very busy and crowded eatery. There was a queue during dinnertime, it's better to go early as the restaurant is small and closes by 7pm. Although it's a Chinese restaurant, there was a proportion of non-Chinese customers. Ordered the wonton noodle soup and mapo toufu and the noodle was simply delicious.
Oh my god, this place has such good pan fried noodles. The food tasted just like home, Chinese food cooked by my grandma. I had been craving pan fried noodles for so long and this restaurant knocks it out of the park! Their chow fun wasn’t good, it was more bland, so maybe they can add more seasonings into it. But I think this place has really good food, the service is just lacking. It took us much longer to get out of here than we hoped because the woman working seemed to be spread too thin and they barely had anyone serving tables.

We ordered chicken fried rice, hot & sour soup and chicken chow mien. Everything tasted good but not as good as I expected after seeing so many positive reviews. The service was very slow and we had to wait quite a bit to get our order served.
After reading all the reviews, I was very excited to go here for chicken chow fun. Unfortunately, I was severely let down. There was no flavor, the noodles were super thin, and the bok choy was shriveled and old.

As someone of Asian background who eats Chinese food regularly, I can’t help but question many of the positive reviews here. Speaking of the crispy noodles with sauce in the photo, the sauce itself was bland and unbalanced. Judging from that, I honestly doubt that the wonton soup everyone praises could really be that good either. The Surimi (fish) balls were undercooked, and the noodles were soggy — overall, the quality was disappointingly low.
