Great service, great food and you see the love of the staff for their business. That’s what makes the difference from other places. Tradition, dedication and good food. I had a grilled octopus and it was fantastic. You’ll definitely have a great time there.
Excellent Italian dinner! I brought my parents here because they asked to have real Italian food while they were in town. The pasta was fresh and well prepared, the beet tartare was really interesting (and tasty).
Lovely little Italian spot offering delicious pizza and pasta staples. The intimate setting and candle lit table tops make this a cozy date night selection. We sat indoor and everything was thoughtfully considered for safety.
Looking for a random dinner we stopped at this restaurant. We saw that it was a cute place to have a good time as a couple and it really was. The place is very beautiful and the meals are very well presented. Very attentive staff and we felt that everything was personalized. The most curious thing of all was that we asked for the octopus to start with and we expected it to be chopped, but to our surprise the octopus was complete and grilled (very good by the way), for us it was a new experience when eating. We actually liked this place a lot, we have it on our list of favorite restaurants.
Food, Service & Decor. This place is magical. It basically stole us off the street around dusk, the lighting was perfect. Cozy but still spacious, excellent specials. Creative flavors and what’s better than a family owned Italian place in Manhattan?! I’m thankful for that person with the one star review, “sometimes great food and service isn’t enough” 🤪. For me, it is!
Love this restaurant! If they bottled their tomato spread they made in-house with the bread they serve, I'd buy 3 bottles weekly! Excellent service, wonderful menu and the food is SO good and of very high quality. Excellent for a mid-week lunch for a Saturday night Date. They are my little secret Italian place I love.
First time dinner, but we'll be back. Lots of healthy options, with the beets, greens and octopus all standouts. Mains were well cooked, delicious and large portions: salmon with avocado and I had the ribeye with arugula. Short but well priced wine list, mainly Italian. Ambiance is lovely, and the room was not too loud. Service was perfect, and the bill was what it should be for this calibre of food and wine.
I was extremely pleased with the experience. Intimate environment, high quality food, sizable portions, reasonable pricing, and good service / attention to detail. Will definitely be recommending this spot to friends and making a point to come back in the near future. I did not order the pizza but I saw one come out and am eager to return and try it! Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic service, food and atmosphere. Extremely romantic restaurant in the middle of NYU. The owners are incredible
If 3 Giovani has no fans, I am dead. If I had to choose my last meal and my mom's cooking was not on the table, it would be the 3 Giovani mushroom ravioli and either the tiramisu or dark chocolate mousse cake for dessert. My only gripe is that I cannot get endless ravioli here à la Olive Garden. But such is life.
The food is delicious —every part of it. The bread & tomato sauce were fantastic, the pear arugula salad was fresh and light, and the mushroom ravioli was to die for. The service is great too, and the ambience is cute and europeany. Prices are very reasonable, especially in NYC. Can’t wait to go back 😊
We arrived 5 minutes early (party of 6) and our table wasn't ready yet, so the staff politely asked us to wait outside. A few minutes later, the host came out with 6 FULL wine glasses and said they were on the house, apologizing that we had to wait outside. After we were seated, we had an incredible meal and service to boot. What a warm, friendly experience! A must-visit.
I never write reviews but I woke up in the middle of the night hungry thinking about the delicious food I had last night. This is the best restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. My fiancé and I loved everything about it. It’s small inside but cozy. They dim the lights and even bring a little candle to your table. The staff were so nice and attentive. We had the antipasto to start — fantastic. The bread was also amazing. I had the pollo martini. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The sauce it was in was so so good and the tiny potatoes on the side were the best addition!!! I truly think it was the best meal I’ve ever had. My fiancé had the spaghetti rustica. It was different in the best way. We had Nutella pizza for dessert, not something we’d usually order but I’m glad we did! We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for a great meal. I just wish I had left overs haha
They took amazing care of my boyfriend and me. After getting frustrated with a previous gluten free restaurant (we had to walk out before ordering) and not being able to find any other good gluten free options, we show up here and they are more than warm and inviting. They ushered us in, even though it was nearing closing time, and served us fresh, delicious, and comforting food. Their gluten free penne was definitely one of my favorites, and I recommend it. I had the Rose Carobonara and it was phenomenal. The sauce was fresh, hot, and comforting. The atmosphere is romantic. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive and worked well together. I highly recommend this place, and I can certainly say that it’ll become a staple for me whenever I visit New York.
Myself, my wife and 2 adult daughters found this place several months ago and now go back 2 or 3 times each visit when we spend fun time in NYC. It's usually our first meal out when in town, mainly so we can get a fix of the mushroom ravioli which is superb. Have had no disappointments at all from the menu. Service is always very friendly, accommodating, but not intrusive. I realize that there had been some less favorable reviews posted before the new management took over, but we have had at least a dozen meals there and we have only good things to say about TG's, as we call it now. Also, one of the owners, Kent, when he's there, seems determined to make our meal extra special. He always sends something out gratis for us to try. It's all just a very nice, relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Bravo!
The complimentary bread spread is spicy and sweet and the bread is perfectly crusty. I had the farro side and it was a large portion and the best thing I've eaten in a while- good chew on the farro, salty and sweet. Eggplant was also delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. The service was very good.
Lovely ambiance, impeccable service and delicious food. What else would you ask for? We enjoyed a fantastic meal here after a show at the comedy cellar. They were even able to change our seating time since we showed up over 30 minutes early. A wonderful experience.
A true gem of a restaurant. Very cosy and perfect for a night out with friends. (Would be a great date spot too). We shared a lot of dishes and all of them were delicious but do not miss the grilled octopus, arugula salad. mushroom ravioli and the chocolate mousse. Our group has been known to be the last ones remaining but with the food, the vibe and the service how could we not? Also ask for the backstory of the place:)
A charming spot downtown with superior food. The service was attentive and sweet, the food was absolutely delicious, cooked like an Italian grandma would make it. Outstanding red sauce. Eggplant rollatini was superb, as was the pappardelle and the carbonara -- silky sauce, perfectly al dente. 3 Giovani, 5 Stars! Highly recommend!
Yesterday, I joined a group of 10 friends to celebrate a birthday, and we had the most delightful experience. The waiter not only delivered outstanding service but also remembered all our names, which made the evening feel extra special. The atmosphere was charming, and everything about the visit exceeded our expectations. I’ll definitely be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know. Thank you for such a memorable celebration!
If you're searching for an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of New York City, look no further than Tre Giovanni. The cozy, warm ambiance and attentive staff create the perfect setting for a memorable meal. While the entire menu is a delight, the star of the show is unequivocally the carbonara. It's a dish of pure perfection—creamy, rich, and flawlessly balanced with crispy guanciale and a generous dusting of pecorino romano. It's not just the best carbonara in the city, it's a culinary masterpiece that will transport you straight to Rome. Tre Giovanni is an absolute must-visit for any pasta lover.
We stopped in for dinner prior to an event at NYU. Fabulous food. Excellent service. The pappardelle ragu was amazing as was their pesto sauce. Moderately priced and well worth it. A nice surprise to start a really fun evening.
Super romantic, clean, and charming. Was not crowded at all on Friday night, confused as to why, it’s a hidden gem!! I’m not the biggest fan of Italian because it’s a little too heavy for me, but WOW I had the linguine Nero and I loved it!! Full of seafood, full of pasta, and full of yummy sauces. I felt that I saw either the owner come in and greet a friend & it was very sweet. Can’t complain about the service, was left alone and the vibe was perfect. The lasagna is light and not heavy, so make sure to order an appetizer if you wanna eat lasagna. It felt like 20% water, I liked it a lot, felt very fresh, but my dining partner was hungry after eating it. Very reasonably priced too. Would come back again since in this area a lot.
Our favorite Italian restaurant in NY. Not too pricey and not too bougie. Large Portions of absolutely delicious food. Try the calamari, not breaded, not rubbery, marinated in garlic and absolutely delicious. One of our favorites is the mushroom ravioli. The Osso Buco was delicious and with bone marrow. The steak was very tender and juicie. The pappardelle was no less of a hit. We ended the meal with tiramisu. Delicious all around. Our server was Vasiliki, spot on with all the recommendations and great service. Good service can make even bad food taste better, but the combination of great food and great service made for an awesome experience. Ardit too was awesome and very attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be back.
What a delightful add uplifting experience dining here. We discovered this gem and will certainly return to again experience another delicious well-prepared and peaceful Italian meal. Era our server provided such an uplifting experience. She has was Natalia or simply marvelous. Indeed the chef prepared a special dish for us. We look forward to returning and continuing to experience quality dining and exceptional cuisine.
Absolutely lovely place to have a romantic dinner or a family time! Stunning service, you feel they love you already at the entrance, very attentive and caring, food was fantastic too- we have got alla parmigiana and buratta as a starters, pasta papardelle and ravioli, and a glass of Pinot Noir- all was amazing !!! We are from Malta and we eat Italian food , we know what we are talking about! Absolutely worth to pop in and not very busy , which is a surprise!
A cute little Italian restaurant. The food was excellent, particularly for the price. I didn't feel like I was paying the "NYC tax" here. The lighting inside is just the right amount of cozy, without being too dark, and there's outdoor seating as well. Topping it off, servers were polite, attentive, and helpful.
Trios Giovani is a small & upscale Italian place. They have wonderful hosts, great testing food and lively environment. It's a great place to take someone on a date or to celebrate something. Their ravioli and salad (which I have tried) was great. The food tested great but if I would go back it would be for the vibe. The dessert option we had was an ice cream (gelato) and it was too dry for our liking. I recommended the place if you are in the NYU area.
What a great food, aperol spritz, atmosphere and stuff at this place! Adorable little restaurant, with paid attention on every single detail.. My pasta was the best i have ever had, and can’t wait to go back to NY because of this restaurant! The owner was so nice and welcoming, highly recommended!
Exactly what we wanted from a classic New York white tablecloth Italian restaurant. The pesto was amazing and the beans that came with the steak were better than the steak (though the steak was very good too!) Atmosphere is romantic but also nice for friends or family. Quiet for easy conversation.
Fab service. Fab food. I am writing this review (my first) as I felt compelled to; this restaurant is terribly underrated. I had the crab tartare (incredibly fresh, enormous portion of crab meat) and the rigatoni buttera - both dishes were superb. My mojitos were also fantastic. I live in the area and have tried several other Italian places, only loving Don Angie. I left 3 Giovani feeling just as satisfied and equally excited about leftovers.
How have I lived here in the city for 18 years and not had the divine pleasure of dining in this beloved Village trattoria? So expertly prepared (delicious) and too many choices — I’ll be coming back many many times I’m certain. Waiter Natalia was so kind and attentive as was the entire staff. The svelte and dapper Maitre’d appearing so perfectly uninterested. (Of course, in fact, on top of every detail) Don’t tell anyone.
My friend and I often meet at 3 Giovani for lunch during the work week and we’re always very pleased with our experience. The food is well made and so delicious, the service is good, and the space is cozy and inviting. Recently, I took my sister for dinner while she was visiting and again had a fantastic experience. I’ve only been visiting over the last year or so, but it is quickly becoming one of my favorites!
The place looks more beautiful than my photos. Sorry for this, 3 Giovani :( The outside table is soooo thoughtfully decorated, though it’s a bit chilly. We’ve made reservations (it’s a bit crowded at night, especially since there is limited capacity now), and the place is quite packed. We ordered pizza and pasta. Ah yes, definitely tried the Tiramisu. Not too sweet, which is perfect to end the dinner.
We went there for lunch, place was not very busy. We had a wonderful lunch. Staff was accommodating and helped us join a couple of tables (party of 6). Food delicious, good red wine selection... We were very satisfied with our meals, drinks, and experience. Will be coming back when we are in NYC.
3 Giovani Is placed in an area full of blues club like Blue Note, Terra Blues. It is an Italian restaurant, it is not expensive and quality of the food is very good. I really like it. I love their pappardelle ragù, the veal is well cooked and the pasta is fresh. I recommend this place!
My absolute favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. I lived around the corner and ate here multiple times a week for six years. The food is excellent, the host Gent is charming, the staff are lovely and the price point is great. Outdoor seating is great for people watching and the indoor atmosphere is romantic. Great wine list and full bar. Enjoy!
I like this Italian restaurant and have been there twice. It’s usually easy to find a table, even without a reservation. For a place in NYC where you can walk in, it’s really nice and serve delicious Italian food.
This was the perfect spot on a snowy evening to tuck away and have amazing food, attentive service and quiet enough for good conversation. Everyone loved their salad and pasta dishes. Very romantic spot for couples.
A special place in an excellent location. Excellent Italian food at reasonable prices and ownership is prsent and attentive to guests. I would highy recommend this restaurant to anyone who is sophisticated enough to realize you do not have to be the most expensive to be at the top of the food chain.
Solid spot near Washington Square Park. It has indoor and outdoor seating and it’s perfect for dates. The food was also good. I had the branzino and it came with a ton of veggies. The mussels were also great! The rest of our table also liked the pasta and salmon. Lots of healthy options!
This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The pasta is always perfectly cooked and the dishes are immaculately consistent. The wait staff is always great, the wine list is fantastic. The mushroom ravioli and the penne rosé are highly recommended. The crab tartare was fabulous! Long live 3 Giovani!
Absolutely magical, wonderful, incredible experience. The decor is lovely - understated and romantic, without being too fussy. The service was top-tier, never waiting for a single refill without feeling overwhelmed. Now, the food - the food was mouthwatering. It was flavorful, simple, luxurious, and fresh. Additionally, not to overstate - this was hands-down the best non-slice pizza I've had in New York. Will return, without a doubt.
Our outside table was elegant, with white tablecloth and fresh roses, not much street noise, and easy on-street parking. The food was fabulous! Best mussels ever--with white wine, fennel, thyme, and crusty bread. The antipasto was delicious. My sweetie had the Burrata pizza and loved it. We had Pana cotta and pistachio gelato for dessert--yum! The excellent servers were nice and just-the-right-amount of attentive. We will be back!
We stopped here on a whim, and had a wonderful time. Morrow was the host and he suggested the one that was good. I had Baratta with vegetables and the cheese was a good quality. My wife had arugula salad. I had the rigatoni with sausage, and it was delicious and my wife had the. Flounder, with roasted potatoes. It’s a real scene because you’re watching people walk by and it’s like watching a TV show to see all the different characters but of course we ate outside. The bathroom is downstairs if that’s a problem for you. All in all the food was good, the service was good, and it was a nice place. I would go here again. I forgot to tell you, but we had fresh fruit for dessert. Much better than a fattening dessert.
A charming hidden gem in Soho/Greenwich Village. I am sooo happy to have stumbled in here one day with friends. The decor is beautiful and the food is delicious. Staff was lovely and attentive. We were grateful to be sat right away. One in our group was in crutches and the manager was so kind to help get us settled at our table. We started with their stuffed squash special and caprese salad- a unique dish and a true classic. We then had their seafood pasta special, margarita pizza (I added red pepper), and their veal parmesan. CHEF’S KISS. They had a solid wine selection (we got a bottle of Gamay) and they make a mean dirty martini ;) We finished with a cheese plate and the panacotta- so good and finally, a nice espresso in the USA. We were a group, but this would be a really great date spot. They have a cool playlist and iconic photos framed. I’m hoping to come in when they have their discoball going. I really feel like I hit the jackpot and almost wanted to keep this treasure for myself!
A quaint Italian restaurant nestled in LaGuardia Place. If you're not looking for the bistro lights and Cafe tables outside, you'd miss it just walking by. But thankfully, they are a neighborhood favorite and on my visit, plenty of regulars were spotted here. It was a solid lunch spot and I'm sure the dinner is even better. Menu of appetizers has a little of everything - cheese plate, fig salad, crabmeat cocktail appetizer and the grilled calamari (which I had and totally recommend), soup, and even eggplant. For Entrees, there's a list of pasta dishes or proteins to choose from. I had a hard time choosing given so many tasty choices. In the end, my waiter made the final decision for me between the two pasta dishes - ravioli de fungi (mushrooms) was the winner (tagliatelle ragu was the second choice). They also serve pizza! I wanted pasta this visit so I'll have to return for that. It looked fantastic from when others ordered it. Waiter was attentive and easy on the eyes. Wink wink
We've been coming here for +20 years! Always tasty food, good service and around cozy settings. However, yesterday the usually "good house wine" wasn't there. Maybe the list was changed? All three of our glasses was disappointing.
Yummy food! Service was excellent, always came and filled waters and brought extra bread. Server however did not know how to make shirley temple so docked for that! overall great vibe great food:)
Sea bass, Spaghetti al nero, and pizza were all made to perfection. Absolutely delicious. The plating for the sea bass was a bit unconventional and made cutting and serving awkward. The fish arrived in the baking sheet it was cooked in, placed on top of the plate next to the side of potatoes. I assume this was to prevent it from falling apart as it was very tender and flavorful with the skin intact. Still might want to consider transferring it to the plate or at least cutting off the edges. Waitstaff are formal yet polite. When a large group came in, they graciously put together multiple tables without batting an eye. Definitely accommodating. The tables are modest so be sure to book online first. Very easy through Google maps. Final thoughts: Music selection was all over the place. Restrooms were very very clean. Bar area seems underutilized. The oil lanterns at every table do well for romantic ambient lighting. Prices were very good for the quality of food. Definitely worth a second visit.
Lovely meal - in particular the calamari and shrimp starter which to my surprise and delight had no batter, just deliciously swimming in lemon and garlic and cooked to melting perfection. Very good food. When paying over $100 for a bottle of wine it would be good to have it poured but typical in NY and why a lot of us give up tipping, as it’s not earned.
UPD August 2024: I want to make an update as it is still one of the places I have loved since 2018 and have many good memories with. Food is getting better again when talking about the taste and quality, overall prices are not getting much higher after the latest rise. The Service is super nice when the “old” staff is on-site as they remember you and make everything a little bit better:) UPD: new management, WAY SMALLER portions, higher prices. Just a shame. Pictures I added are the same dish “Polpo” now and 1 year ago. Old review: Highly recommend this place! GF pasta, good pizza, good choice of vegetables. You can also modify the recipe if you're vegan or don't like one of the ingredients. The staff is professional and welcoming.
The staff at 3 Giovani work as family, and it’s apparent. I only ordered a glass of wine and an espresso and was treated with utmost care by the GM and Ardit, my waiter. Conversations between friends and loved ones flow freely—it seems a familiar place to many of the patrons here tonight. I drank alone but Tres Giovani, warm, dim, and filled with human din, surrounded me.
I can guarantee about the authenticity of recipes and quality of the ingredients and service. The bread alone was spectacular (it comes from Brooklyn's Regal Crown). $65 for lunch is a little out my budget. (The fish dish below was $30, which is excessive.) A $25 lunch special would have been more reasonable. Still, I'd definitely come over for business lunches.
Surprised by the 4.5 stars. It was just an OK experience, but there is so much better if you want higher quality food and service in Greenwich Village. We had the ribeye steak "special" and a classic Magarite pizza. I wouldn't return because of better options.
Reasonably priced Italian restaurant, well located, offering enticing starters, mains and a select, but sufficient, dessert assortment. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. There was also a large selection of wines available. One of our party drank white wine by the glass and said theirs is the finest of any she'd had in NYC😊
The food was delicious and fast. They accommodated our party size quickly, even tho the place is small and expected party sizes appear to be limited to 2. We received prompt service, however the owner/manager made it clear that we were not welcome to linger over our food (I.e. eat at a comfortable pace) and we felt rushed and unwelcome. Great Italian isn't hard to find in NYC, and we will think twice before returning,
Food was AMAZING! Ambiance is cozy and selection of wines is good too! But they overall could use a lesson or two on hospitality… I went with a friend, two of us, had called 2 hours prior to reserve and they said yes but when I showed up they said it had been a mistake and they had tried calling (but we were getting massages and missed the call) Anyways, they improvise a table in the corner of the restaurant and get us seated after couple of minutes waiting… I look at the menu, choose two appetizers and a bottle of white wine to start and 20 minutes after ordering the server finally comes back and when I try the wine I realize it’s very, very hot (they forgot to put it on the fridge) and even though I love this particular bottle I had to reject it and choose something else because (they didn’t know it yet) but I had already planned 2 other courses (pasta and meat) and I wanted to enjoy them with another bottle (red of course) a beautiful Amarone I had already chosen👌🏻 I tell the server to bring me a different wine, this time is perfect so I take it and then when she goes to the manager to tell him the situation he blows up at her, gives her a very bad attitude and turns noticeably frustrated and annoyed… Right after he comes at our table, with a passive aggressive attitude and a piece of paper and a pen and ask me: Ok, what do you want? (Like if we were confused or we had caused the issue on the first place) Listen Sir, couple of notes: 1.If you take a reservation by mistake (you deal with it and cover up your error and you train you host staff better for the future) 2.You never give back attitude to the guest (unless they are total asholes of course) 3.You never scream like that at your staff and even less in front of guests (mistakes are always going to happen when you are working with “people” and for “people”) 4.If the house makes a mistake (like not putting a beauty like that Roero Arneis from Mr.Giacosa himself in the fridge) then the house should try to mend it (not give bad attitude to the guest instead😂) 5.Teach your staff to be honest with the guests, there’s nothing wrong with saying: “apologies but the wine you ordered is not in the right temperature, would you like us to chill it and serve it in a bit or would you prefer something else?” If I was told that yesterday I wouldnt had even left that poor server girl open that bottle and would choose something else. You never know who you are serving, I’ve been a decade in this industry and love it with all my heart! Im AGM of a Michelin starred restaurant⭐️Im a foodie and a Somm! I like to enjoy 3-5 courses when I go out, I love great food as much as I love great service, Im a good customer and an excellent tipper because I enjoy this industry on both sides… All you are missing is authentic warm hospitality and you’ll have a perfect place✨ I hope this helps, will come back.
Their chef's excellent culinary skills were shown through the food. The quality of the ingredients wasn't bad and the portion of each meal was well controlled. Waiting time for food was kinda long. However, we had an unpleasant experience with one of the two waiters who served our table. We did not get butter for bread and received a few negative(racist?) comments that shouldn't come out from anyone's mouth. In comparison, the other waiter was very much of a gentlemen. As one of the comments stated - it isn't hard to find great Italians in the city so it is vital for one to possess a positive hospitality attitude to survive.
The place was good, I ordered the papardelle and wasn’t my favorite but the veal was very tasty. The best was the tomatoe dip with complimentary bread. The prices are ok but the affogato it’s not worth for the $12. Very pretty place and service good.
Food was decidedly mediocre, overpriced for the quality, and the server was disinterested bordering on unfriendly. For an Italian restaurant in the price range I would at least expect mouthwatering red sauce but found even that rather lacking. The fish was decent but a little overcooked, and served on an otherwise empty plate. Seems a popular place for NYU parents to bring their kids, but if you’re looking for a great date spot I would look elsewhere. At least the wine pours were heavy!
We came to Tre Giovani looking for good Italian food one Sunday during a trip to New York. We needed an Italian restaurant within walking distance of the area we were in at the time and it came up on Yelp or Google. Overall everything I had was average to good. It could also be due to what I ordered. I had the chicken breast which was done pretty well. Good flavor and nicely cooked. It came with a small amount of potatoes and veggies on the side, just the right portion. I also got a side of mixed baby greens I think. I didn't realize other veggies already come with it. My friend had the lasagna. I tasted it and it was good! I may have secretly liked it a little more than my entree, but I was trying to avoid anything too heavy or with a lot of carbs that day. I didn't care for the bread and brushetta they served for our starter. The bread was hard and not good. I typically like toasty bread but there's a difference when its like toasty fresh and just hard. Plus i didn't get much taste and the oily tomato paste spread would help some but it didn't. Coming from someone who loves bread this was tough. We didn't do dessert. The restaurant itself was really cute with indoor /outdoor seating and lovely decor. I loved the look and feel of it. Only wish the food I ordered matched that. Maybe I could've ordered a little better, but perhaps I ordered healthy. The service was ok, but nothing to write home about.
Very subpar food - chicken parm tasted like it was Trader Joe’s frozen food reheated
TLDR - Food - ordered calamari, gem salad, pasta rustica, pesto pasta. Bad. We ordered the calamari thinking it was fried it is grilled. Our mistake. Even so, the sauce was lacking. It was not fresh or light, and it was incredibly fish. Basically in melted butter. The gem salad is advertised was charred with minimal dressing. It was not Crisp as typical Jim salads are and was overall lacking flavor. The pesto pasta was creamy and oily - not too typical standards of refreshing pesto. The Rustico pasta was HEAVY on the cream and not very flavorful. Service was attentive but lacking - server took order then disappeared after. Interacted with bussers for everything outside the initial order and check dropping. Lastly - $5 PER DIET COKE IN SMALL GLASSES AND CHARGED BY THE (tiny) GLASS. I would’ve refrained from leaving any review but getting banged on for $5 average DC’s just didn’t sit well with me.
The food here is great but the tall, young waiter was so incredibly rude to our table. My sister and I got drinks, but our friend didn’t want to drink alcohol and insisted she was fine with water. He then came back three separate times to pressure her to spend money on a cocktail. The third time he came over, he pressed her, “let me at least get you a half glass of wine so you don’t feel left out.” I understand as a waiter wanting to upsell and make more from a tip, but this was so unprofessional. What if she was a recovering alcoholic? At the end of the meal, we tipped him over 20% and, when he saw the cash tip, he audibly scoffed in front of us. I’ve never felt so disrespected at a 4-star establishment before. If you go, avoid the tall, young waiter unless you want to be pressured into emptying your wallet.
Sometimes good food and service isnt enough. The owner or manager, dressed all in white had a black heart and insulted me. My family and I have been loyal customers but I can not support unkindness, lack of compassion and rudeness. It leaves a bad taste on the palate. Many other really awesome Italians restaurants in the area.
Read reviews about the rude manager before going to this place. Unfortunately they are true. We were looking forward to dinner with old friends but the manager dude was so unbelievably rude that we felt it was better to just leave. Oh well 🤷♂️.
I live in the neighborhood and came here with a friend to enjoy a nice dinner. Unfortunately it was one of the worst I’ve ever had. We ordered appetizers and water and didn’t receive neither. I than asked the manager about my order and he said “you need to wait” and walked away. The food finally arrived and as we were eating we could see the manager eyeing us. We felt uncomfortable and un welcomed. The waiter than comes over and places the check on the table without asking if we were done. After that we knew this place was awful. The waiter comes over again grabs our plate of food and walks away without checking if we finished our meal. This whole time I felt extremely uncomfortable and the service was disgusting. The manager comes over and I tell him how I felt rushed and the service was terrible. He then goes on to say how I shoudnt go out to eat if I can’t handle the service. I didn’t want to argue with this miserable manger so we paid and left. If you can please avoid this place there are many other nice real Italian places in the west village. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I was disgusted and still in shock on how we were treated. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Please save yourself the trip from being humiliated and rushed.
A horrible horrible experience! I would strongly and confidently recommend anyone to not go there, period! We booked a table for me, my fiancé and her family for a Saturday night dinner. We got there on time. However, that tall, long haired, shaved dude made us wait 15 min outside for no reason; even though out table was ready. He had an attitude for us all night long. He was super rude for literally no reason. I would left the restaurant immediately; however, my fiancé's family was there and it was too late to book anywhere else. In the end of the night, I asked him the reason of his attitude to us; but this dude start yelling at me and cursing at me. It was such an horrific night. The worst dinner experience. I am not even gonna mention about their food- I am posting this review, because I don't want anyone else have such an experience.
Positive reviews for this restaurant are mostly written by local guides, not customers. We often went there with our grandchildren after playing in the adjacent Washing Square Park. The service was friendly and food quite good. But we have an appalling encounter with the manager/owner last Tuesday. We have requested a large table as we often order few dishes, appetizers and entrees. The waiter was accommodating but the manager decided otherwise even the restaurant was only half seated. He had us seated in a table with a beam jutting out next to the seat and right in front of the bar where the he was holding court with friends. By seating us there he actually blocked the passage. We then asked to be moved to another table, he then came barging in and shook the table and said there, it was fixed. He claimed the beam no longer jutted out as he had moved the table. He was enraged that a customer dared to complain and showed his real color as man in charge. In a loud and hoarse voice he said 'No'. It was uncalled for and totally unacceptable. We were shocked to be openly humuliated by his burst of bad temper. He might be the manage/owner in charge but his abusive use of power has no place in hospitality.
BEWARE they charged both me and my friend duplicate for our meal. Can this be an accident to double charge both credit cards? When I called them, which the cc company requires that you try the vendor first, I was rudely told to call back later and hung up on me.
Went to the restaurant for New Year's last night. We were rushed to eat, and were not offered dessert so I asked for a dessert menu. When I ordered dessert, the waiter came over and told us that we had to move to a different table in order to have dessert because they had a party of six coming in. We told them that that was rude and that we had made a reservation (it would have been different if, when we came in, they told us that we had an hour to eat or such). Admittedly we were very upset but the waiter was not accomodating us. The manager or owner came over and told us that we were being aggressive despite being explained to him why we were upset. He TOLD us to leave. He was extremely rude and refused to have a conversation and address it. The food was good but needless to say, we will never go back there. There was no excuse for rudeness, let alone from a manager or owner. I have never ever experienced anything like that in my life.
I’ve been going here numerous times a month for a good bit. Made a reservation for a 7 pm dinner this past week, but my friend was about 45 minutes early. The entire restaurant, both inside and out, was empty. She asked if she could order a glass of champagne while she waited and use the restroom, but before the hostess could answer, the manager that was seated in the back yelled across the restaurant- “not possible”, without even so much as getting up to explain. He followed it up with- “we’re booked w/ reservations”. She let him know she’d get up as soon as they had a table, but yet again, no professional courtesy- not a handshake, not even the respect to stand up to speak to a patron. He yelled from the back again “Nope”. Needless to say, we canceled our reservation & left a message for the manager (who never returned the call). Here are the pictures of the completely empty restaurant, both at 6:10 PM, and an hour and 20 minutes later. Again, not one single table in the whole place. Sidebar, when I went to their online reservation platform, every single timeslot came up as available. It’s almost like the manager on duty didn’t want business and just wanted to close early. It’s a shame, and disappointed by the lack of customer service to not even get so much as a phone call back.
We arrived at 7:30 PM, were seated right away, and placed our order quickly. Over an hour later, we still hadn’t received anything beyond the complimentary bread. Meanwhile, a table that was seated 20 minutes after us got their full meal, finished eating, and left while we continued to sit there with nothing. Even after asking a server to check on our order, absolutely nothing was done. This was beyond unacceptable. It was disorganized, careless, and disrespectful to paying customers. We ended up walking out hungry and angry. Not sure if it is because we are women of color or students however I felt extremely disappointed. We will never be coming back and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
I have been coming to this place many times throughout college, but after today, I will NEVER step foot in here again. What happened was beyond frustrating, it was downright disrespectful and insulting. We were seated, placed our order, and then sat for over an hour with no food and no acknowledgement while watching a table of men who arrived 20 minutes after us not only get served immediately but finish their meals before we were even checked on. When we finally asked where our food was, nothing was done. The staff continued to serve everyone else around us and ignored us completely. It is humiliating and infuriating to be treated this way. As two women of color, it felt impossible not to notice the difference in treatment. That is unacceptable. This wasn’t just poor service. It was rude, disrespectful, and discriminatory. No paying customer should ever be made to sit hungry and invisible while others who arrived later are prioritized. This place has lost my business FOREVER, and I will make sure others know exactly how they treat people!!!!!!!
