En route from Northern Michigan to Boston. Stayed at the Castle for the night because of its Google Map's rating. Went here for dinner because of the same. Good and lively place on this Friday night. Service was fast and pleasant. Food very good . Very nice evening. I wish I were young again.

We stayed at the nearby castle armory hotel and took the short walk to Lorenzo’s. Arrived about 7:30 and were quickly seated at a table for two. I had the linguine with clam dish and my wife had the chicken with penne in vodka sauce. Dinner was served with homemade bread and salad with their in house dressing. Everything about both dishes was excellent and tasty. Our waitress Tina, was about as friendly and professional as I have ever experienced in a dining establishment. We live on the other side of the country and were visiting the NE on vacation but if we were closer we’d be weekly customers.

Ok no bull. I am from Naples where the food is grand and many Michelin star restaurant. The food and service here is some of the best I have encountered. The Sauteed Clams and the sauce were perfect. Everything was the best of the best down to the fresh made pasta. I would give this place 10 stars.

Total gem of a restaurant located on the South side of Amsterdam. Italian fare reigns supreme with very generous proportions. The Wine & Beer selection is extremely diverse. Highly recommend Lorenzo’s Southside for Lunch, Dinner or just a few beverages after cruising the adjacent Snowmobile trail!

Being straight from Italy, I will honestly say that when it comes to "Neapolitan style" pizza, I can be quite critical. Lorenzo’s Southside by far surpassed any expectation that I had. So good that the pictures don't do it justice. The fresh Burrata was delicious. The balsamic calamari was perfect. The Margherita and Americano pizzas were to die for. The staff, including the owner, were super friendly and attentive. Best dinner we've had In a long time. Highly recommend checking them out if you haven't!

I'm working a contract in the area for a couple of months, and have been trying a lot of restaurants. This has definitely become one of my main go-to places! The pizzas are great, the pasta dishes are great. I've gotten great service every time, doing both takeout and dining in. My favorite pizza is the Americana, just perfect every time. Also the wings are awesome with their special honey garlic sauce! House salad Italian dressing is creamy and tasty, I don't normally care for Italian dressing but love this version. The chicken parmesan was a huge serving, and the gnocchi special one week was some of the best I've ever had.

When a friend asked me if "I wanted to go for some amazing pizza", I, of course, said, "Yes?!" and I'm glad I did! Pizzas were incredible... Beautiful wood fired char (leoparding(?)) and delicious combos of toppings. Service was spot on and drinks, both cocktails and beer selection, were top shelf. What's not to love.

Everything is extremely fresh and very enjoyable; along with the Lanzi’s being extremely accommodating for everything we asked for. We were staying in the Amsterdam Castle and they recommended Lorenzo's Restaurant. We ate there 2 nights and both times the food was outstanding. We tried the pizza, Casesar salad, Lasagna , chicken egg plant parmigiania among the 4 of us. Everyone enjoyed their meals. We got there around 5 and could get right in but they got quite the crowd filling the restaurant up each night by the time we left. Would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic dinner for seven at Lorenzo’s Southside in Amsterdam. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a fun night out. Our server, Lilah, was amazing—friendly, attentive, and made everything run smoothly. She really made the night special. We’ll definitely be back!

I haven't read the reviews, but I assume they are all stellar because the food and service were off the charts. We pulled in hot and dusty from an Erie Canal bike tour. We earned a great meal, but we had no idea how great a meal we were about to have.

Fantastic restaurant for dinner. Our waitress was so friendly and helpful in choosing our menu items. The Neapolitan pizza was phenomenal! The chocolate pie was delicious, and more than large enough to share.

I saw this along my route and was looking forward to a nice meal on the road. They have a great, three season covered patio right off the bike trail overlooking the little town of Amsterdam. I ordered their wood fired pizza and hand made pasta - both very good and bigger portions than I expected which is always welcomed. Nice side salad and good bread, too. Gem of a place and large operation in what seemed to be a small town on the outskirts of a small, upstate city (Schenectady). Wish I had time and room for dessert!

We needed a place to stay near the New York State Thruway, and booked a room at the nearby Amsterdam Castle Hotel and decided to take the short four minute walk down to Lorenzo’s. We made it 730 reservation which was great and very crowded Friday night. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings. We had wonderful appetizer and meal. Afterword, we walked the lovely pedestrian bridge across the Mohawk river to downtown Amsterdam, NY.

I was bicycling across the country in the spring and summer of 2024, when an older cyclist, Jack Lynch, 94, told me to eat at Lorenzo's. If it was good enough for that young man, I'd try it. I thought the food was epic. If I'm ever pedaling the Trailway again, I will make a point of stopping again.

Lorenzo's Southside Pizza & Pasta is definitely worthy of the five star review. It is one of the Five restaurants owned and operated by the Lanzi family in the Adirondack area. They have carried on the family tradition for more than 100 years. They brought their family recipes from a small village near Rome, Italy more than a century ago. Over the years they have not only stayed true to their craft, but continued to add excellence and excitement to every dish they prepare and serve. The younger generation has studied from renowned culinary experts in New York City and have become masters of Neapolitan Pizza, which happens to be the Southside's signature dish. The Americana doesn't disappoint. Everything, and I do mean everything is hand made onsite. It was a privilege and an honor to tour the kitchen, look at the pasta & bread machines. Seeing an 80 lbs parmesan cheese wheel, was just the start. My time with members of the Lanzi family, is a time I will never forget. Thanks again, and I will definitely be back. When you go, I would highly recommend the stuffed eggplant parmesan, along with the tiramisu. Giacomo, great job with the pasta making young man. Also check out their other locations, and read about them in various publications. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment, so definitely more to come.

This is a great place a short walk from our hotel. The seafood chowder was amazing. A bowl is a whole meal. The service was very personable. Get dessert and an Irish Coffee!

For those biking the Empire State Trail, Lorenzo’a Southside is PERFECTLY located directly beside the trail and in the shadow of Amsterdam Castle. The restaurant has a roomy “outside” seating area in addition to the inside portion and was very accommodating to large groups, the possibility of pets and, well, me. The wait staff was fabulous and the pasta was to die for! I ordered the gnocchi pomodoro and it melted in my mouth…SO GOOD! A Sam Adams Oktoberfest was perfect for the season and if you are interested in a cocktail, try the Italian Old Fashioned.

Had a great meal and wonderful service. The seafood chowder was amazing and topped the meal off with a Lemon cake and Irish coffee. Our server “Brie” ? was fantastic.

I'm still so full. We shared a large antipasto salad and a small Margarita Pizza. Everything is good to eat in this restaurant. You will love the food. We sat in the new enclosure with those heat lamps with fire directed in them... yeah it set off the ambience. Nice. Water with lemon set out ahead of time at our tables. We had 16 people together. Awesome service. We were greeted with small plates of something similar to tomato pie to me. It's complimentary and yummy. They have a pretty good selection of drinks. The menu selection was sufficient. Everyone had something different from us and everyone ate everything. There was a good crowd there and the owner came out to say hello to everyone and my companion in particular. They know each other. Good food. Great service. Looks nice, feels nice in there. What more do you need? Go try them out. You won't be sorry!

Lorenzo's Southside is an amazing restaurant. The menu is very authentic with great Italian food. The Italian nachos are to die for. The tomato pie that you greeted with is perfectly succulent with a robust flavor. The wine list is very good. This is a perfect place for an intimate dinner with two or for a large family gathering or anything in between.

My family and I went to Lorenzo’s for a special birthday dinner for my mom. From the service, to the food, to the waitress, everything was great! Jayna, our server was so funny and kind. She really made the night fun! We ordered some pizzas, vodka pastas, the nutella pizza dessert and pasta fagoli. I definitely recommend Lorenzo’s! It’s always the busiest place in town and a super fun place to sit at the bar as well.

Great and authentic Italian food, our server was very attentive and cheerfully accomodated our gluten free needs, making two trips to the kitchen to confirm with the chef. Entries served quickly and hot. During our meal, the chef stopped by our table to check if all was OK. All this while a large private party was going on and most tables were occupied. We were never rushed, drinks were very good, and the bill was reasonable. We plan to make this a regular stop on our road trips between New Hampshire and Illinois

Took the wife out for a date night. This was our first time going there as we're trying different restaurants in our area. Food was absolutely delicious, service was great and food timing was perfect from appetizers to main course. Pricing is slightly high but when the food is that good who cares. Only downfall was it was very noisy but you can't have everything. Definitely will be going back for date nights to try different dishes.

We stopped here because my son wanted to experience a NY style pizza and this place was amazing. The food was so, good and my son who is my far one of the pickiest kids around ate almost an entire pizza himself even after having the bread at the beginning! Pasta was also amazing & my boyfriend had the wood fired wings which he said were also top notch! Highly recommend this place! Such a good meal! I got the margarita pizza and added anchovies and it was delicious. We also got the homemade tiramisu and it was one of the best tiramisu’s I’ve had in my entire life. Best Italian place around. And for good reasonable prices!! You can taste the homemade and high quality ingredients. The pizza is to die for. It’s like it’s from Italy. And the pasta vodka sauce was one of the best I’ve ever had. First time here and service was amazing and the atmosphere was so nice too. Everyone seems to enjoy themselves here. I just had one of the best meals ever at Lorenzo’s! The service was outstanding, with Cait making the experience even more enjoyable. She knew everyone who walked into the bar, and her lively banter added a fun touch for us out-of-towners. I ordered the American Italian with meatballs, and the hand-made pasta was absolutely delicious. To cap off the evening, I treated myself to a freshly filled cannoli, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The food amazing we had margarita pizza , linguine with meatballs , my favorite was the soup seafood bisque , fries and wings , the service amazing . We had Lilah as server . She was tentative and amazing . The price of food for 4 people I couldn’t be happier on the way out I noticed more different seating and I was like yes , I live an hour away so it was first time and wasn’t sure how it would go and now cannot wait to come back and enjoy again . One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. The food was perfection. Truly. The eggplant was sliced super thin and probably the best I've ever had. Italian American food is often overloaded with cheese and flavors fall flat...not here. Fresh, bold flavors and great presentation. The staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful. Grilled octopus? More like grilled kraken. Was feeling the urge for some sea food this week and luckily Lorenzo's had me covered with their new Feast of the Seven Fishes menu, I've never been here before as I was trying to hold out until I could actually eat at the location, but this menu was just too good to pass up. Ordered over the phone going with the Grilled Octopus and the Fritto Misto, coming to a total of $53 before tax and tip. I had heard that Lorenzo's is on the pricier side so I had expected as much, still, not as bad as I was expecting or have experienced before. Back home I found the two items I got also came with a side salad and a couple slices of bread, which really helped make everything feel like a complete meal. First up was the octopus which was huge! I have never seen octopus tendrils this big before, and they were so meaty! The suction cups adding a little crunch from how they cooked, and the flavor was so mild and unoffensive that the accompanying lemon, tomato dip, and small peppers were bursts of flavor. Then came the Fritto Misto, which is just a fancy was of saying fried dish, as it had fried jumbo shrimp, fried haddock, and french fries. Of course it was super, the fish was flaky and not greasy at all, the shrimp was impressively tough but not a chore to chew, and even the fries were so well seasoned I ate the lot of them. While I was not a fan of the cocktail sauce, being a fair bit too strong for me, I was loving the tartar sauce which was banging with the fish. And while small, the salad was refreshing and crispy. I did have to toast the bread a little as it was so plain and doughy alone, but once toasted it had a wonderful crunch to it. I think for future takeout they could look into toasting the bread a little with some garlic butter, and then wrapping it in tinfoil. I could see that working well. Overall I was very satisfied with my meal, even at the asking price, with nary a complaint to be made. Given how close they are I could totally see coming back, but, maybe only for special occasions and not a daily eatery.

We were just out for a ride then decided we wanted to go out to dinner. We were in Amsterdam, so I pulled into a lot and started my Google search of places and they're menus. Just in the vicinity we were in there were 5 places to go . Decided on Lorenzo's but when I pulled up their page it said they were closed (not realizing the time, 9pm). We entered through their amazing deck. The greeter said the kitchen closes at 9 but she would see what she could do. Just then a man in a red jacket (I'm assuming owner, kitchen staff, etc). He said straight away to get us a table and we would be served. Every employee we had interactions with were such pleasant people. Our server was wonderful⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prices are a bit steep, but then so is everything lately. The meals were absolutely delicious. Definitely going again ... You should too 😋 Forgot to add, there's a lot of parking!!

Saturday is the busiest night in a restaurant, so I shouldn't have been surprised that things were a little slow. But, almost half an hour to get water? And almost an hour to take my order? And another 45 minutes until I got my food. Altogether, it was 2 hours and 45 minutes from the time I left the house until I got back. Because they were so busy, I opted to sit out on the patio. It was quieter than inside, and there were plenty of heaters, so it was comfortable. I ordered the Pork Saltambuca, which was one of the specials. It came with salad, broccoli rabe and mashed cauliflower. I also had a glass of wine. The food was tasty and the pork was tender. For dessert, I had the tiramisu, which was as good as I've ever had it. All in all, not a bad experience, but not a great one either. Update; a very busy Sunday, but I decide to have a pizza while I am waiting for an EV rental to charge. The only seating available is at the bar. So I care? All I am having is a pizza. Both bartenders were accommodating and helpful. I had the Margherita which was delivered to me in 15 minutes. Delicious! I ate half and they boxed the rest for me. I can't ask for more.

Pasta/sauce was amazing, chicken sandwich was boring. The place was super busy on a Sat evening and the waitress was just barely keeping it together. That peanut butter pie was insane!

Two of my three experiences here were good with one leaving much to be desired,so this is an aggregate review. Most recent time I ordered the pistachio and sausage wood fired pizza which was quite good.Service was poor on a Saturday night but the quality of the food partly offset that fact. Ordering off their specials menu can be a flip of the coin,I got Lasagna as a special my first time here and was terribly disappointed with its very lackluster composition and taste,while another time I ordered an incredible Chicken Milanese with imported artichokes which was on the money. Overall good selection of beers and wines and good varity of selections.Prices can be quite high and that can sting if you order something that falls flat.

We got 2 Americano pizzas to go and the bill came to about $40. This type of pizza needs to be eaten at the resturant. It is a handmade wood fired neapolitan pie with fresh mozzarella and fresh herbs. The sauce is sweet and the pepperoni was slightly spicy. Like i said this needs to be eaten as soon as it is done to get that wood fired crisp outside and soft inside crust. Everyone should try this at least once...it is hard to find fresh wood fired pizza ...this is not Is chain or franchise pizza. I was here on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. All the employees and customers were were frendly and the place had a comfortable feel. The place has tables in the dining room, and a bar as you walk in.

Went for the first time last night for Restaurant week. Our waiter was excellent and the owner stopped by to say hello. The portions were very good the taste was great only thing I would say negative is it could have been hotter. I did send my pasta back and it came back perfect. Also do not charge $3 for a glass of ice with a little soda and no refills.

Taking into consideration the mostly good reviews, for the first time here, I was hoping to be 'wowed.' Unfortunately, I wasn't. First of all, a bit too noisy for my dinner atmosphere preference. The food was good, I wouldn't say fantastic by any means, but it was good. $27.00 for barely a half pound of pasta is a bit much, especially when for me, it was just an average tasting dish. The dinner salad, to me, was kind of sad - although fresh, basically lettuce and not much else. The service was excellent. I left feeling not only underwhelmed, but also really bewildered by the reviews. I guess people don't get out much? There are quite a few options here in town if someone wants to go out to eat that are just as good, if not better, for a fraction of the bill. 🤷 Now that I've gone and experienced, this establishment would never be my first choice. Again, for me? Good, not great.

It's okay. I'll come back for pizza but not for entrees. The chicken was dry and I had impression that wasn't fresh, maybe that's just impression. The service was very nice though!

This is clearly a long time local favorite, and as a visitor to the city, I made an effort to check it out as part of a party of 3. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. My salad was lackluster, with dried-up carrot sticks on top. I love fresh pasta, and their handmade pasta had a nice texture, but came with a lump all stuck together, and the dish (shrimp Lorenzo) desperately needed some fresh pepper and something to give the sauce flavor a little oomph. My side order of veggies never came. They clearly don't need my approval to keep drawing in huge crowds, but I think those crowds deserve a little better effort.

Eggplant Parm was undercooked. I'm sure it was frozen and that is fine as long as it's cooked. The sauce was nothing special. I had to ask for bread, twice before I received it. I was never offered dessert. Soda did not taste like Pepsi or Coke and if it was it was flat. The bathrooms were clean, the staff at the door was friendly. I will try it again and update.

Place was packed on Saturday evening and seems to be the it spot for the locals. Our expectation was high because of the crowd and good review on both Google and yelp. However the food is really just ok as one could expect from an American Italian restaurant despite the fancy menu using a lot of the Italian langue to try to make them look legit. The price also seems to be on the pricy side considering what’s offered. Might be a good place for family gathering but would not recommend for a foodie.

Went to get food for my nieces and nephew and myself, but they don’t allow you to make substitutions or adjust the menu. Not everybody like hot honey or basil. I expected a simple chicken Alfredo as a back up but that didn’t seem to be available either. Not kid friendly or picky eater friendly. Bummer because the pizza looked good but they don’t seem to be very accommodating.

The server didn't let me know there were no refills and charged me 3x for additional drinks when I asked for "a refill." They would not honor our Delta vouchers. Took 90 minutes to order receive a pizza arriving before 5pm.

Wish I could give a good review, but we waited an hour for our food, and that's an hour after finishing our apps! Food wasn't even very good. My pasta was hard, and the "garlic butter sauce" was just that, no salt or pepper and not even fresh garlic but powdered garlic. Pizza wasn't crispy but oddly soft for wood fire. The only good thing was the apps. Dont be fooled. It's a bar, not a restaurant. Way over priced for the quality we received!

Not for introverts, people with PTSD, or sensory issues. Parking lot is rough and not easy for wheelchair users. Beware rough pavement. They do have a ramp up to the hostess. Server was very bubbly and polite. Worked very hard and was perfect. We were sat on the open porch and the weather was nice, atmosphere was fine. Food was good, no substitutions allowed. The salad dressing is served on the side. Everything was going well until this random old man in a button up shirt came up and TOUCHED a member of our party to ask how we were enjoying our night. Very uncomfortable. Can't imagine going back.

In my 10 plus years as a food critic never have I ever experienced a restaurant with food as lackluster as the meal I enjoyed here. The only thing more disappointing than the decor were the prices. What ever delusion overcame the owners while crafting this menu is certainly still haunting this restaurant. My advice a complete and utter rethinking of their business. Nevertheless I doubt the genius behind charging customers to remove items from a dish will be able to put aside their ego to save this poor excuse for a restaurant
