Omg, this is definitely one of Atlanta’s best kept secrets. The manager Mr. Brian was a delight to speak with..kind, friendly & professional. He made sure our food was prepared with perfection. Keep up the Great Work!!
Wonderful dinning experience. Ordered an appatizer tower, the house salad with an amazing dressing, 12 oz filet, and mushrooms. Topped it off with Cheesecake. The filet was so tender and perfectly cooked it just melted in my mouth. Mashed potatoes were creamy and the mushrooms were perfectly cooked. The cheesecake was excellent but I'm not a huge fan of the nutty crust instead of a graham cracker crust. But delicious regardless. 10/10 would recommend. And our server/sommelier was the best around!
We had an amazing experience. Delicious food, friendly host. Our waitress Kimberly was so amazing. Ambience was good and I would give A+++
Everything, and I mean everything (except the bill) was perfect. Service, staff, food (and we ordered almost everything on the menu - there was 12 of us), drinks, dessert - you name it, was superb! If you can afford it, I'd definitely recommend you enjoy this wonderful experience!
My fiancé and I recently went to McKendricks. I can honestly say we had a great experience here. Started with a glass of Honig Sauvignon Blanc, and some appetizers. The food was truly good, we both had steaks with sides. We agreed we will be back again.
Amazing experience. The owner, staff, servers, everyone was very courteous and amazing. Super tasty steak and salad. Overall great experience.
Excellent restaurant! The steak and tuna we're excellent. The sides were awesome. I was recommended the bacon Brussels sprouts and was not disappointed. The desert was delicious as well.
It was Friday's special, grilled fish, mashed potato 1 large fried shrimp and a side of hollandaise sauce. Fish was seasoned perfectly. Good texture and not over cooked. Service was very attentive.
Jeff, our server was attentive and just there if we needed anything. Really enjoy dinner.
Kiana was wonderful!! She was attentive, sweet, and a wonderful waitress. The food was delicious and all of the staff made us feel so special for Valentines Day. We will definitely be back.
Incredible Service and an Unforgettable Meal! My colleagues and I (a group of 9) were in town for a conference and had a late dinner at McKendrick's. Even though we were the last table of the night, the staff gave us one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. We never felt rushed and were treated exceptionally well from start to finish. Our server, Mark, was phenomenal—his knowledge of the menu and eloquent description of the specials were impressive. Kiana was an absolute delight who engaged with our group and made the evening even more fun. A huge thank you to Miguel and the manager, Sean, for helping turn a standard "work dinner" into a truly memorable experience. For amazing food and world-class service that makes you feel special, look no further than McKendrick's. They've earned a customer for life. Mark, Kiana, Miguel and Sean are the real reason this meal became bigger than a meal and became a fantastic experience. They all have that indescribable X factor quality that just makes one a winner.
Felt very welcomed when I walked in, I was by myself so hostess recommended I sit at the bar, and I would be very well taken care of, Bartender was John, he recommended the salmon, I chose the garlic butter for the side sauce! I had the BBQ shrimp and Crab cake as well with an old fashioned to wash it down. I enjoyed myself, great vibe!!
Came here to eat for dinner. We were readily sat down by the staff which moved the table for us to get into the booth much easier. Our waiter helped us out well with our drink selection, and with ordering our food. We grabbed a bunch of smaller items to get a good taste of the menu. All the food was great. The dessert was delicious. Great place to come by to eat.
McKendricks is a staple in this neighborhood (Dunwoody), and I absolutely love it. My favorite bartender, Pablo, never disappoints with his specialty drinks (especially the espresso martinis) and excellent service. Last night, my friends and I had a great time. They had a fantastic special: wild-caught salmon in caper lemon butter sauce with smashed potatoes. I'm also sharing pictures of what some of my friends ordered. Thanks, Mckendricks and Pablo for the great times.
McKendrick’s on Perimeter is Amazing! The ambiance was calm , the food was spectacular! Our server Marcus wowed us with his knowledge and charm ! And ended our evening chatting and laughing up a storm with the host Bryan who is so hilarious! We will definitely be visiting again!
I have been to this steakhouse twice. Once for lunch recently and on Thanksgiving day last year. The staff does a great job. Lunch at the bar was a truly exceptional experience. Bar service was spot on. The steaks on both visits were perfect. During the Thanksgiving visit it was very very busy, some of the touch was lost, the staff still did such a great job. WINE LOVERS ENJOY! Third visit 12/272023, Amber was our server and Miguel was our back server we had a wonderful meal. We started with the seafood tower for three people. My cousin had friend oysters and I split a Barratt and Heirloom tomatoe salad for our second course. The best course, I had a ribeye again, cooked perfect! Dessert. New York style cheesecake. Had a nightcap at the bar with Pablo. Truly a great bartender, I had not seen him in years and he remembered me, well done.
A marvellous experience. Great food. Wonderful service. Excellent staff.
We had the most Amazing time with our server Amber on our Anniversary tonight! Mr Harrison made sure we were welcomed and had the best seat available! The food was absolutely tasteful! We had the raw oysters! Crab cakes seared tuna, baked and rockafella oysters for appetizers. We had the bone in ribeye, porterhouse, sauteed mushrooms, creamed spinach and garlic spinach! The steaks cooked to perfection! We also had a top shelf long island and old fashion! Amber was such a pleasure! As other staff walked by the ensured our table was clean and even packed our food. The ambiance was nice! This steakhouse is HIGHLY recommended!
Food and the drinks were great. Steak was cooked exactly as requested and that in itself is a win. The service was wonderful and we were seated with empty tables between ours and the next guests (social distancing of course). Would definitely recommend!
Amazing, Amazing, AMAZING!!! Service was phenomenal. The bone- in Ribeye was perfect. Barbecue shrimp were huge. I welcomed the challenge of trying to fit an entire shrimp in my mouth. Sea Bass looked like a small portion but was more than enough and it literally melts in your mouth.
Great service and food. I took a star off for food because my steak was a little dry in the middle (It was well done, but I've had some that were marbled better in the middle. ).
Great Steak everytime! I ordered the fillet and it was like cutting butter. I also want to try the bone in rib eye. The wait staff was very friendly. I mentioned the steaks but the sides are wonderful too. They come on a separate dish and are ideal to pass around and share because portions are so big. The mushrooms are cooked to perfection and large. I don't normally like corn but the corn dish was quite tasty. My fav side was the grilled asparagus. Can't go wrong there.
Food here is very good. Portion size is large. The cheesecake was one of the best I ever had.
Great food, great service and a great atmosphere. The steak is much more flavorful than what I had at the more famous and over crowed steak houses like KR’s and Hal’s. The baked oysters are delicious and their onion rings are perfect. They have maintained the same great staff of workers for many years.
Marcus , our waiter was a delight. Very personable and attentive. We also had a warm conversation ( but short) with the General Manager , Sean, who was most apppreeciative of our patronage . Over A++ service and food .
Great steakhouse option in the Perimeter area of Atlanta. Delicious food choices, great service, lots of parking. Highly recommended if you are looking for a steakhouse.
I have NEVER had such an impressive experience as what I had at McKendricks. I will give you my reasons: 1). The atmosphere is so incredibly classic. 2). The service you receive is as if you are royalty. 3). The food IS OUT of THIS WORLD. I had the Filet and it was cooked to absolute perfection. Marcus will take care of you and never steer you wrong on preference. That is just how exceptional McKendricks is. I advise you have the same experience as me and have the best time of your life. Life is Good at McKendricks.
Food and drinks were excellent. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Fried oyster appetizer was maybe the best I’ve ever had. The batter fry was so good. Best of all was the service. Marcus was outstanding, pleasant, and very knowledgeable. His suggestions and pairings were perfect. The bourbon crème brûlée was excellent. Highly recommend McKendrick’s not cheap but definitely worth it.
First time visiting McKendricks. The food was was exceptional and the service was phenomenal. Our server Kiana was top notch and sensational. Would recommend on the server alone
We had an incredible dining experience at McKendrick’s, and Kiana truly made it special. Not only was she attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly timed with every part of our service, but she also has such a warm, welcoming presence. She carries herself with elegance and a beautiful smile that instantly makes you feel comfortable and taken care of. Kiana is an absolute asset to the restaurant — we’ll definitely be asking for her again.
I used to come here growing up for celebrations and milestones; I started coming back recently and remembered why I love this place so much. Atlanta dining staple and classic steakhouse with some of the best service around, excellent steak & seafood, and incredible sides. Cocktails are always on point too... So glad I rediscovered McKendrick's and now come here often with friends and family!
We met with one of our favorite reps, and I suggested McKendricks. Our table concierge Antonio was absolute perfection with his team member. The meal tasted divinely with the crab steak topping, making me float to heaven. The steaks were cooked to perfectly. Everyone enjoyed themselves, and thanked me for suggesting McKendricks. Their entire staff made us feel comfortable and exceeded our expectations.
It was our first time back as a family in 3 years. Kiana was an amazing host, she gets 10/5 stars. Food was as amazing as always if not better.
The oysters were delicious, and my steak was cooked to perfection with the warm red center and skin with a nice crunch to it. Unfortunately, my wife shrimp didn't have much flavor along with the asparagus ( which they gave us a ton of), but the garlic mashed potatoes delicious
We enjoyed McKendrick’s. The bone-in ribeye was outstanding. The rest of the food was very good but not amazing. We also ordered the sea bass- it was cooked to perfection meaning perfect temperature but lacked adequate seasoning. The asparagus was also unseasoned. The service is very friendly and commensurate with the menu pricing. The servers do not go out of their way to clean your space after each course as they do at a higher end steakhouse like NY Prime or Capital Grille for example. If it is convenient they will do it, if not, they won’t. On average, a complete meal here is about 70-70 dollars per person not to include alcohol. The ambiance is superb and pleased us greatly. It is a gorgeous restaurant. There is a dress code So be sure to check it before you go.
ONLY reason it's a 4 (really a 4.5) is because it's DANG expensive. My 6oz filet was $40! Crazy! I didn't take photos of the food because I was there for a business lunch. Haha The mac & cheese was really good! (Not on their menu) The filet was delicious. The creme brulé actually wasn't that great. It had a strange citrusy flavor, and the custard wasn't fantastic like I expected it to be. Bummer! Other than that, though, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere was good.
I started with the French onion soup and I didn't know how to eat it with the thick layer of cheese. Tasty but too much cheese. The wedge salad was soggy and hard to cut. I prefer my bacon crumbled and not whole. The baked potato was delicious. The salty outside and the fluffy inside were a great pair. My husband and I shared the creamed corn, it was tasty. My husband had the new york strip and enjoyed the flavor. He also had the lobster mac and cheese. He said it was rich but good. Mark made our dining experience very enjoyable. He was polite, professional and witty! He topped off our meal with a chocolate cupcake which made our 16 year anniversary!
My 1st time here. The atmosphere is very nice, loved the wood trim throughout. The lobster mac n cheese was very good! The brussel sprouts were ok, the sautéed mushrooms were big and tasty . I ordered my NY steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly, but I do wish it had more flavor. The lemon drop Martini was fresh and delicious and my Merlot wine went well with the steak. Get the appetizer tower and share!
Went here first time for Mother's day. Fancy restaurant and pricey, everything is al a cart. I had the bass and it was delicious. All the food was delicious and the service was good. Entrees are around $20-$68. The sides are from $8-$12... $9,for fries?! No thank you. I didn't find it worth $38 for my bass and $9 for steam veggies. But you are getting quality food. The veggies are bought locally and the seafood is fresh and shipped from the Gulf. Chicken is cage free raised so I give them that.
Very nice place with great service. Everything we ordered was delicious except for the lamb chops. They first came out very salty, which when we told the waiter he took care of it and bought another one. The lamb chops smelled very bad. My husband said it tasted ok but when he got home he felt unwell. Dont order the lamb chops. They comped our dessert for the salty lamb chops so that was nice.
First time visit, was not impressed with the steak quality, Ribeye was mediocre at best, oysters were super small as far as East coast oysters go. Had to request large ice for old fashion, otherwise business meal went great. Wait staff was super nice and professional and did not rush the pace of the meal. Not sure I will return, there are lot better options in the Atlanta area.
The food is definitely not worth the price. The steak taste burnt with no flavor. A ribeye at that. Would I go back definitely not. But it was a friendly experience. Oh the BBQ shrimp was the best thing to eat.
Dined here on 5/31. Service was very good but restaurant interior appeared dated. Not many customers for a Saturday evening. Bread was not very good. Lobster tails and salad were excellent. Strip steak was cooked to order (medium) but seemed to be a little tough. Asparagus was almost as thin as spaghetti and way over cooked, but they did remove it from our bill. Seemed a little pricy for quality served. Probably will not be on our "return soon" list.
Today's lunch was a HUGE BUST. Service was slow and the ordered were wrong. The Brussel Sprouts looked like they were boiled....Yuck!
McKendrick’s Steak House offers a great atmosphere and excellent service, making it a pleasant place to dine and connect with friends. However, the food quality did not meet expectations for the price. We ordered the JUMBO Sea Scallops, but they were far from jumbo. If a menu item highlights a specific feature that isn’t available, it should be adjusted accordingly (e.g. removed from menu or price adjustment). Unfortunately, the steak—arguably the star of a steakhouse—was underwhelming, lacking seasoning and not justifying the price. The shrimp, on the other hand, were excellent and cooked perfectly! Additionally, I would have loved to see more variety in the side options, as the menu leans heavily toward potatoes. Overall, we enjoyed the ambiance and company, but the food quality would need to improve for us to return.
My husband reserved dinner for us to celebrate Valentine’s Day early. This is the first time we’ve ever been here. The food was amazing. The service however was something left to be desired. We had ordered the calamari as an appetizer and never received it. We’re still not entirely sure why whether it was a miscommunication on our server or the kitchens behalf. Our server only came to take our order, give us the dessert menu and then our bill. My husband and i did observe that other tables with the same server were receiving significantly more attention than us throughout the night. The time in between we saw the manager, who was fantastic. He brought us our food, cleared our plates, checked on us, apologized for the lack of our appetizer and provided us with a dessert on the house. We may go back not around or on a holiday.
Friday night at 7pm. For the price the service was lacking (probably should be 2 stars) and food was good but not great has the price would make you think . Food was just warm when it arrived. The service barely came to our table and drinks and food took longer than expected. We usually see a manager making the rounds in this type of restaurant but he never came to check. Quick Follow Up…Sean called from McKendricks to apologize for the service and appreciated the honest review so they can do better
I love the service here more so than the food. We went 12/31/2022 to celebrate a birthday and NYE. One of the oysters from the appetizer came out with shell under the fried batter. Thankfully we did not choke or break teeth or veneers but we were afraid of biting into another one in fear of getting more shells. When the waiter came by we showed him the shell. He appologized. When my rib eye with the scallop came out, there were more hidden pearls and shell shrapnels within the scallop. I presented to the waiter again. I told him I found the beach on the plate. The ribeye was cooked poorly and was chewy. The only good plate was the lamb and the crabcake. The wild mushroom soup, okra, garlic cheese spinach, and chocolate brownie were just okay. In summary I rather spend $265 somewhere else for dinner.
Great New! Thanks to our President Biden he has caused inflation! Prices are even higher now at McKendricks Very disappointed. Have not been in over 20 years. prices have sky rocketed! Steak is now USDA. Use to prime aged beef ! Service was very slow do to understaffing. Owner Doug McKendricks .I have know him and his wife Claudia personally for over 15 years. Doug was in the restaurant and we talked before I was seated for lunch. He said he would come and and say hello as he was finishing his lunch when we spoke. When I was finished with lunch I went to look for him. One of his staff said he snuck out and was mad because he did not like his ice cream. Wow! Yes would not return!
I arrived at McKendrick’s on 08/24 for my friends birthday dinner. Long story short: I would never go to this restaurant if I wasnt invited. When I walked in, I was greeted with a cold energy & looked up & down like my outfit was out of dress code. I had on a dress, cardigan, & sandals. Would you have liked me to wear a suit & tie??? Other customers were dressed much more casual than I was but were greeted with better energy. I still gave them a chance after the cold greeting. When the waiter finally came to my table, he started by asking me obvious questions. He also didn’t offer a drink or any bread. Instead of asking me if more people are coming at a table of 8 (only 2 of us were there at this point), how about offer me some water? Second red flag. He took his sweet time bringing the water & then asked me another obvious question. There was also no drink menu on the table. After asking for a drink menu, he only brought me the cocktail menu with about 6-7 lousy drinks on it. I was confused as to why there weren’t more drinks on the menu? This is fine dining. You should offer wine & other drinks right? So I asked him about the shortness of the drink menu & he brings me a wine menu the size of a small yearbook. I didn’t even feel like ordering a drink at this point. Or giving the restaurant anymore of my time & energy. The whole time his energy was giving: “I don’t feel like doing this.” Which is fine because who wants to be at work on a Saturday evening? But I watched him & he had a better poker face & smile with his other tables. So he just didn’t feel like dealing with me & my friends. So we happily cancelled our reservation & went around the corner to Eclipse di Luna. It was amazing & a much better vibe! I highly recommend Eclipse di Luna & wouldn’t waste your time with Mckendricks.
