Visiting from out of town and fell in love with this place. We were able to bring our dog and were seated in the patio with no wait time. We ordered appetizers along with a crawfish etouffee to round out the meal. Food was delicious and well seasoned. Wished there was a bit more crawfish in the dish but with all of the appetizers we did not leave hungry. Would come back again.

We had brunch at this diner, and it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The food was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, making the experience memorable. The only downside was that the table felt a bit cramped, and we wished we had a little more space. Overall, it was a fantastic meal, and we’d definitely come back!

Sawyer & Co has that New Orleans flavor we’ve been looking for! The Breux Bridge Benedict was crazy delicious and cooked perfectly. 🤤🍳 As a person who gets fried pickles every chance she gets…I obviously had a plate, and was not disappointed by the flavor and spice. We sat out on the beautiful patio - perfect for Sunday brunch btw. The service as a whole was awesome, and our waitress made some great recommendations!

The food here is absolutely delicious! Great pick for brunch. My fiancé and I both got the Cajun scramble and it was fantastic. All the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating - highly recommend! Also a bonus, they are pet friendly!

Finally made it out to Sawyer & Co. Love the southern-style diner feel. This southern-style diner offers dishes that are inspired by New Orleans. Ordered the Creole Shrimp and Grits and the Fried Chicken biscuit. Both dishes were very flavorful and authentic. Will be back for dinner soon. Instagram: eatwithjarco

We chose this restaurant because it wasn't far from where we were staying and had good reviews. We ate brunch here on a Sunday and the food was delicious abd the service was good. My husband was born and raised in New orleans so he grew up eating the route of food served her and he also enjoyed it.

I really like this place! I picked up a bunch of their breakfast biscuits for a really good customer just down the road. Everyone loved it and so did I! I liked it so much I went back for lunch. I think there is a direct correlation between how messy a sandwich is and how good it tastes! Both of mine were very messy! The location itself is really nice! It was a beautiful day so most people were sitting outside. The staff was very friendly as well. I highly recommend this place...you won’t be disappointed.

I LOVE this place. The nostalgic look and feel is amazing. We both had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and it was phenomenal. Over medium eggs were cooked perfectly, the biscuits looked homemade and the sausage gravy was so flavorful. Do not sleep on Sawyer &Co.

This is a great spot for brunch. Waited for about 20 mins to be seated for a table of 4. You can also make reservations ahead of time if needed. Staff was friendly and the food came out quick. Had bottomless coffee, fried pickles, boudin balls, gumbo, shrimp and grits and the fried chicken biscuit. Everything that we ordered was delicious. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I was able to find parking in the area too.

The mid century modem interior of the place was stunning and many elements were from the original building built in 1940s. Jess our serve was so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was very good as well, the Louisiana Cajun items were delicious.

We just had the most amazing breakfast! The proper American diner far from the soulless chains and food made with passion and skills. Creamy grits, perfect eggs, a well balanced Hollandaise topped with just so much cayenne to add a bit of spice. As a European the to finally get a nice and strong cup of coffee was definitely a bonus. Friendly staff, but that goes without saying for a place like this, right? Anyway, we’ve found our favorite spot.

Awesome restaurant. Great vibes, amazing food. The staff is great. Food is delicious. Has an old diner feel and look inside. Has outdoor seating as well. Biscuits are delicious. Gravy is awesome. Boudin was very tasty. Really great spot. Its definitely a must try.

My husband and I stopped in here right after of courthouse wedding spontaneously. We had a bigger dinner planned later, but the food here is all we could think about after our weekend together. The shrimp and grits was absolutely amazing!! Everyone shared in our happiness. Best food we had, and relaxed welcoming environment. You won’t be disappointed 🥰

Loved the potato patties with alvacado as an appetizer, got two patties, should not have put the dressing on it was orange and hot, but the dish was great in spite of the dressing. Ate on the patio and brought our dog, loved that. Waiter was very attentive.

I had never been to this place, but my husbands work had their Christmas party here. The atmosphere is amazing and very down to earth. Its retro but so cute. The staff are amazing and so sweet. Its like being catered to at home. Everyone talks to you like they know who you are. My favorite dish off the catered Christmas menu was the Chicken Orleans! Fried chicken with etoufee was amazing. And every time i go thats what i ask for! This is a must check out place to dine. You will NOT be disappointed. Sawyer and Co keep up the great hospitality!

Call ahead of time and make a reservation! Our wait was 2.5 hours long for Sunday brunch. Very cute decor inside and outside. Deviled eggs were delicious. I also had the biscuits and gravy were were tasty. I would definitely come here again.

Deliciois food and really cute location. They had plenty of parking for a downtown location. I actually called prior because finding parking in Austin is a nightmare. They have a good amount of parking too and the waitress on the phone actually went and looked to make sure a spot was available. It is a super cute and almost traditional looking diner. They have mimosas and plenty to drink. The coffee was really good and the waitresses were on top of things. I got an everything bisquit. It was delicious!! Cheese and grits were on point and the sausage gravy was a little spicy which made the bisquit all the better!

Fantastic, retro mid mod decor with insanely tasty food. Our service was superb, very fast and friendly. We ordered boudin balls, mimosa's, the Gaston , crab cake Benedict, cheesy grits and coffee. My Benedict was a little cold, but made perfectly. Nothing was too spicy and the Louisiana flare was delicious. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously

Delicious breakfast of Fried Chicken Biscuit with cheesy grits! Nice place, easy going atmosphere, I was here at noon on a Thursday and had no problem getting seated. But I bet you need reservations later in the day to not have a long wait. I will return here with friends snd family for sure. Oh yeah, Mason is an excellent bartender/server!

You’re going to want to get a biscuit and grits in some form or fashion. Had the Two Egg breakfast and it was phenomenal. The aesthetics of this place are perfection. Would come here weekly if I lived here!!

This is the cutest mid century modern diner with the best staff!!! Everyone comes around to check on you and make sure you have everything, but the best part is the amazing food. The grits and greens might be my all time favorite breakfast ever!!!

M

Our server was really sweet, attentive and had great recommendations. I went with the chicken biscuit and my friend had the biscuits and gravy with the cheesy grits! We were greeted right away and taken to the enclosed outdoor area that had heaters right above our table.

This brunch was amazing. Came here with a large group and have to say, the service was excellent. Their brunch and drink menus are extensive, and the service is also very fast. Their Bloody Mary’s come with a biscuit and huge chunk of bacon on top. You get a lot of bang for your buck, with the drinks being HUGE and the portions of food being true diner portions. Absolutely loved this place, would definitely come back!

Visiting Austin, we looked up places known for Southern Comfort and my husband was very interested in the options when we looked up the menu! The almond/praline iced coffee and breakfast chicken and biscuits I ordered were great and the shrimp and grits ordered by my husband were gone in a flash. We'd recommend checking Sawyer & Co out! Their interior décor isn't anything to scoff at either, maintaining traditional diner elements but with a modern twist.

M
Matthew Hyland

Great gumbo and etuffee. Fried pickles with a side of jalapeño ranch? Hell yes! We had the greatest server who recommended putting the etuffee on top of fried chicken. I’m voting for her for president.

G

Update: they hsve added on pulled pork Benedict and carnitas Benedict to the menu. This was wonderful. Austin eats on point. It has proper decor, vibe, wonderful background music. Amy, my waitress, was soooo on point! I did a long lazy brunch, part inside, part outside on the patio. I went with the Spanish Scramble, added ham and avocado. Chose the biscuit and grits, and Irish coffee, and a Bloody Mary. It's 100% worth it. Next time, I was told the chicken Fried chicken is top-notch. I'll be back!

Wife and I drove from Leander to this great spot and experienced a wonderful brunch. I had the tall stack of pancakes (sorry folks, it's a pancake missing...are one in haste). And the taco was Arkie's Taco. Good stuff and the wait staff is awesome and super friendly. We're definitely coming back with friends and family. Went again during the week and ordered the creole shrimp and grits with a side of red beans and rice. Both dishes were pretty darn good as well.

K

The food here was excellent! I had the sawyer Benedict. The poached eggs were perfect! My daughter had the French toast. They were thick and had the perfect taste: light cinnamon and butter. You could tell everything was made from scratch. Our server (in the pic) was great!

Super cute and retro place on the east side. I got the best strawberry matcha from their coffee truck on the patio. The vibes on their patio are unmatched! Service was quick and friendly. Excited to come back and try more!

B

Wonderful atmosphere, terrific food, decent parking, decent pricing, and very welcoming service. It’s difficult to find somewhere in Austin that checks all of these boxes. I made a reservation, and in hindsight it probably wasn’t necessary, but I’m glad I did it. The decor embraced the retro diner interior without feeling too much like a gimmick. It felt very homey inside. If you like brunch, I would highly recommend.

came here to have a cute brunch with a couple of my girlfriends. it was the perfect environment to chat and catch up. the food was delicious and affordable! i tried everything we ordered and it was all amazing. i recommend the brisket benedict. the service was fast and friendly. we ended up chatting and not realizing they were closing but we never felt rushed. they were all super nice and patient. will definitely be back!

Amazing! Chicken and pancakes were delicious. Fried green tomatoes were the best I ever had. Not a fan of goat cheese but whipped goat cheese was a perfect pairing. Definitely going back.

Great place for Breakfast, Brunch, and Lunch!!! The coffee is so good and pairs really well with the amazing meals. Shrimp and Grits were AMAZING. Portions look a little small, but they are full of flavor and the perfect amount, even for the price! Benedicts were great, the egg breakfast was delightful! The ambience was amazing and the staff was so welcoming and attentive! Thank you for a great time while we visited Austin for a few days!

J
James Mikkelson

Great biscuits, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The gravy is really good too, although you don't get loads of it, which is probably a good thing. Nice decor, good vibes, staff are super friendly. There is also a nice garden if you want to eat outside, or sit at the bar for a real American dinner feel. Best biscuits and gravy in Austin.

I was kind of surprised by how good this place was. It was pretty busy, but we got seated quickly, and the server seemed to check in at the perfect times. The food was excellent, especially their eggs benedict. The sauce was full of flavor and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Also I was surprised by how good their ice coffee was, I definitely wasn’t expecting that. I’ll definitely be coming back here multiple times (and hope my rating stays the same)

I ordered delivery. Everything was packaged separately. Nothing was squashed or damaged. The food tasted good! I have no complaints! Update: I placed another order for delivery and the packaging was great again! The broccoli was in a separate cup and not mixed in with the seafood plate. The fried pickles were not soggy but still crisp! That was a big surprise to me since some foods just don't deliver well! The Jalepeno ranch wasn't overwhelming hot or spicy which was pleasant!

M
MrScrubfish

Banana pancakes and coffee are the winners here!!! Service was good, but took a little bit before someone grabbed my order. They were a bit busy, so I will say it was due to this. Overall great place for breakfast with a different but comfortable atmosphere.

This place is super cute. Plenty of seating. And they serve alcohol SUPER EARLY. Came in on a Friday morning around 10am and We didn’t have a wait. The food takes a while to come out. Service was great, everyone was attentive. I got the chicken biscuit, the biscuit was delicioussssss my friend got the two egg breakfast with a side of pancakes, and two coffees for $32 (with tip)

Great spot for brunch! We started off with the gumbo and it was really delicious! The Banana Foster French toast was really good too. They have a really good selection of brunch staples and southern dishes. Great service and friendly servers as well. I definitely wanna go back here and try their other dishes.

S
Savvy Rush

Awesome brunch place! There is always a long wait so go prepared. But you can get drinks while you wait. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits. The scrambled eggs with crawfish was also very good though I would have liked more crawfish. The potatoes are a must eat…perfectly brown and crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth inside. The fried okra was very good too. Even the biscuit and corn bread were delicious!

Right after it opened, Sawyer & Co placed as one of our favorite local restaurants. We loved to go there after meetings, bring out of town friends and have long gabby lunches not to forget fun happy hours with friends. But last year they went through a rough patch. Some of our favorite menu items (Sensation salad/red bean & rice, boudin balls) disappeared and well the salad was limp and the food just not up to par. Moreover, they removed the Louisiana dishes and consolidated them over at the new Lil Easy. (We dropped by Lil Easy which is not far, we did not stay because the music was too loud to allow conversation) We were saddened but resolved to find another local spot. Then not long ago we gave it another try and we're back to loving Sawyer's! Reminiscing, back to the first time we arrived there I recall being gobsmacked by the aromas. Not only was the decor artfully mid century, the scent emanating from the kitchen was pure 60s! How on earth did they recreate the actual warmth of those wonderful aromas from my childhood? Likewise the decor was just masterful and we could depend on real old hits from across several decades playing in the background. Yet it was easy to converse without yelling. All those elements along with fabulous martinis made it a special place for us. The last visit reinstated S&C back into our regular haunts. A couple new items highlight the gastronomy. First, they've added a nice tomato basil soup that is just tangy, herby and --mmmm. We're hoping they will add to the soups since Austin is rather a soup desert if you ignore local tortilla, caldos and menudo. This last visit, the smoked meatloaf sliders served on sweet Hawaiian rolls, were a hit, as were the fried pickles--which are as piquant as they are sinful. The salads were fresh too, though we still miss the Sensation Salad of the old days. The good old Arkie Burger (a throwback from when the place was called Arkies) is excellent! Lunch specials are also available and quite fun. And of course the martinis are just right. I do wish they'd kept the old mid century wall graphics which were replaced with very green jungle leaves. But the old modernist clock is still on the back wall thank goodness. All in all we hereby dub thee a true Austin Gem!

We have been trying to visit this place for quite a while. We finally found a time that there wasn't a long wait. It was worth the wait!! The shrimp and grits did not disappoint. The French toast was great. Also enjoyed the brussel sprouts, breakfast potatoes, B-L-A-T and fried chicken sandwiches. We will definitely return.

An East Side gem! Seriously, the food and service has remained consistent since the first time I dined here whether it be for brunch or dinner. You cannot go wrong with any of the dishes but I’d argue the Chicken Fried Chicken is the best!

L
Lauren Bem

My husband has been here multiple times and raves about it. We both got the chicken fried chicken and I got it NOLA style with crawfish etoufe on top, the meal was amazing! Chicken was so tender I could cut it with a fork. Boudin balls were very good and the gumbo had the taste of a real gumbo not a watered down version.

Had the BEST Bloody Mary and shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. Flew in this morning and this was my first food stop in Austin and 100/10 would recommend this place! Service was amazing, I sat at the bar and both the guy with the tattoos and septum and the lady behind the bar were lovely and super caring. Definitely add this to your places to visit in Austin!!

Bit of a rocky start, but our server Hunter saved the day! Service was excellent, very cool vibe, and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend the Chicken & Pancakes! Wife’s Note: Amethyst Latte - great flavor, half-sweet, cold foam was perfect & real lavender on top as garnish was such a great touch!

If you’re looking for a good brunch spot, make a reservation the night before and go to Sawyer & co! The drinks are good, the food is good, the service is good too! My friend and I split the avocado potato cakes appetizer and it was delicious! I got a bacon Bloody Mary and it was on point. The mojito was good too but if they ask you if you have a preference on the rum, make sure you say bottom shelf or they’ll go ahead and add a $3 charge for top shelf liquor… the food was great, ESPECIALLY the grits! I will be back next time in my Austin and getting brunch.

Went for a late Sunday Brunch 2.00 11/16 as we know the wait is very long! Sat at the bar and the service was awesome I wish I had asked their names, it was like watching a ballet the 2 bartenders were in total sync. Even better than the service was the food. The Eggs, Biscuits, Potatoes, Bacon and especially the Grits were perfect. This coming from a Chef and I lived in North Carolina 20 years. Been back 4 times since and have to mention Abby our server. She is super sweet and helpful as I am deaf and she doesn't miss a beat or laugh when I ask for a giant bowl of those amazing grits......

Visited Sawyer & Co for brunch me and bestie before heading back home to Houston and it was GREAT!!!!!! The hostess, the waitress, the food, the vibes we LOVED it! I’m not sure if it was the manager or owner but a nice lady stopped and asked how we were doing and did we need anything!!! ☺️ 10 out of 10 highly recommend!! Madison was perfect 👌 gave us space to chat and catch up and was always available for us. Love the outdoor vibes. Go now while the weather is lovely. The coffee truck outside was awesome, too! Got coffees to go post brunch. The food winner: GOAT fried green tomatoes on whipped goat cheese with pecan crumble. 🤩

Design and atmosphere, A+. Menu, A+. Service, A+. Sat outside but the shade covering made it comfortable. Madison was our server and they were wonderful. Fried Green tomatoes were incredible, could have just made a meal just out of that. Got the iced vanilla latte, iced strawberry matcha latte (was good just needed a little sugar) and Prickly pear limeade (sweet and very sour!). We got the basic eggs Benedict and the grits and greens, with a side of fried chicken. I recommend asking for the chili maple to drizzle on top of the chicken! The corn bread was tasty but not very sweet at all. Honestly considering coming back to try something different tomorrow, it was that good.

Love the new menu, especially the house-cured Salmon Lox Benedict if you’re in the mood for breakfast or brunch…the Crispy Potato Cakes, the Fried Green Tomatoes… Friday’s Fish n’ Chips Blue Plate with a glass of true Champagne… Delicious cocktails and wine, or a fun local beer on tap… with a legit third wave espresso coffee trailer on the beautiful patio! Always in the mood for a cortado, macchiato, matcha latte, golden turmeric latte, or shot of espresso. Yum. Yum. Yum.

Retro heaven !! Chic 1950s diner energy—minus the problematic bits. I ordered the chicken & waffles and WHEW…perfection. The waffle was cloud-level fluffy, the chicken had that crispy flavorful skin (not over-breaded, just right). Our server was the sweetest, attentive but gave us space. Bonus points: the booths are this dreamy Tiffany-blue that makes the whole place feel like a set piece. Love the aesthetic sm, 10/10.

We stopped by Sawyer & Co. for breakfast on a Monday morning. It was a bit slow when we arrived, but the service more than made up for it—our waitress was super sweet and very prompt. We ordered the French toast and the biscuits & gravy, and both were absolutely delicious! The location itself is super cute, with a fun, retro vibe and a cozy atmosphere. One thing to note: there wasn’t a changing table in the bathroom, which made things a little tricky with our baby. However, they did have high chairs and booster seats available, which was appreciated. Overall, great food and great service—we’d definitely come back!

Really enjoyed the ambiance and the music was great to complete the vibe-- heaters on the patio ensured eating outside was still comfortable despite the cool, rainy weather. Really enjoyed the food, but to be honest was really underwhelmed with the bloody mary's. Otherwise good service and would come back!

R
Rainy Taxi

The Eggs Benedict here is amazing! However, the Bloody Mary was terrible – tomato juice tasted off and was really disappointing. The service was average, nothing special but not terrible either. They really need to step up their game with the cocktails because the food is fantastic.

Nice, little, breakfast joint with a retro-vintage vibe! Lots of dishes have a little Cajun flare to them which adds a little something different to the standard American breakfast. Nice touch! Atmosphere - 5 Lost Bread (aka French Toast) - 5 Gaston Scramble - 4 Biscuits & Gravy plate - 4 Would definitely eat here again!

Strong brunch option! The staff was friendly, service was pure. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options. The spot is located on city edge, but good location in east Austin. We started with the deviled eggs 😈 which did not disappoint. For entrées we explored the options - French toast (a must have), breakfast biscuit and breakfast taco were pretty good! It’s also nice to have a chill server, energy was good no doubt. We’ll be back, definitely check out sawyer & co if you’re looking for a good brunch spot.

Overall, the food was filling and very delicious. The fried pickles were battered with cornmeal.. which I didn’t really like. But when dipped in the jalapeño ranch, it tasted much better. The chicken fried chicken was the best! Very juicy and flavorful chicken (2 breasts). The Mac and cheese was so THICK and possibly the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. The mashed potatoes were too buttery, so I didn’t eat them. My boyfriend got the jambalaya, which he enjoyed. The onion rings were THE BEST! Only 4 stars because the waiter seemed to forget about us too much.

Classic (yet refined) Austin diner The menu is pretty much exactly what you’d expect in a diner down here, the niceness is in the quality of the dishes, the friendly staff, and the pleasant ambience. And yeah, excellent for day-drinking 😅

I have scoped this place out for a while, it looked really cool from pictures. First impression was that it was not as busy as i anticipated, the interior was a bit dark, and the booths upholstery was in kinda rough shape. Things got better. Our server was fun, chatty, personable. Pimms cocktails were fabulous. Boudin balls were off the charts delicious. Brussels Sprouts were really nice too. The Mac and cheese was not good, but our server noticed, offered us something else and comped it. We got the fried pickles which were really good, and you got a lot of them. I'd definitely come back to try their brunch, and to holler at those boudin balls.

We were originally told that there’d be a 30 min wait but it was closer to 15 or less, which was great. The waiting area is a little crammed and I was stepping on peoples feet or backing into them during entry and exit of the establishment-luckily we found a parking spot and could wait in the car. Food : I ordered the cold brew, a single pancake and the fried chicken biscuit sandwich. As a daily cold brew drinker, I can say I was impressed! A little pricey but I would get it again. The sandwich was REALLY good (a little too salty for my liking) but amazing nonetheless. The cheesy grits were some of the best I’ve ever had and my wife got the potatoes and they were delicious! I’d definitely go back.

I liked the vibe of this quirky Austin diner. The food presentation was fantastic but taste and freshness were lacking. I prefer a sweeter latte, and milder hollandaise sauce. I'll probably try here again and order something different next time.

When visiting Austin (one of my favorite cities), brunch is always a thing. Sawyer & Co. is a decent east Austin brunch spot fusing the Cajun flavors of Louisiana with the Tex Mex flavors of Texas. The food is solid. The place is cute with a fun old-school Austin vibe which pays homage to its predecessor, Arkie’s Grill (which was an institution for over 60 years and closed in 1994).

Delicious food, but really slow service. We went on a Monday for brunch, so it wasn't terribly busy, but we were seated at the table for over an hour before we got our food. I got the crawfish scramble, and it was very good- well seasoned with a generous amount of crawfish. I'd definitely go back for the food but just plan on being there for a little while.

If you're looking for a unique dining experience, Sawyer & Co. is a must-visit. While you might have to wait a bit longer for your ketchup, the wait is definitely worth it. The atmosphere is electric, and you never know what kind of entertainment you'll witness. I watched a patron narrowly dodge a flying campage cork! The food is delicious, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Don't be afraid to pull up to the counter for a seat; it's the best way to experience the show.

We miss brunch, so I ordered a Chicken Fried Steak with Red Beans and Rice, I also ordered Jambalaya with Cheesy Grits. They were all so good! Especially the corn bread that came with the meal. And I also tried my friend’s Brussels Sprouts and they were Delicious!

This was a pretty fine, but not great, restaurant by all metrics. The atmosphere is a mid century modern which works pretty well, but the restrooms need some help. Service is friendly if a bit slow. The food, again, is "pretty fine." Specifically, it is not too heavy or greasy - despite the breaded and fried nature of everything. Portions are proportional to the price vs quality. I ordered the fried chicken, and the meat was very good, but the breading was much too salty. Outdoor seating was pleasant, although it was rather dingy and e did not like the uneven flooring covered by a tacky, fake grass. So... Sure, I guess.

S
Shiny Heine

Cool mid-century modern inspired joint. Biscuits are a standout! It took us more than 20 minutes before we were served but once we brought it to the staff’s attention, our server was friendly and attentive. Menu is somewhat limited and at times it seemed more about being a “cool” place than the customer or the quality of the food. Feels a bit drab and it’s strangely situated in an industrial area but it seems very Austin. It’s worth a try; don’t sleep on the biscuits!

We recently tried Sawyer & Co and it was really cute. We went for breakfast and the food was really good & we loved the vibe. The only downside was being charged what felt like a regular price for a kids drink, even though the portion was pretty small. I get that juice can be expensive, but this was for our kiddos, so that part caught us off guard. That said, we will still be going back because we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We will just be more mindful of pricing next time. Great place, make sure to have a reservation during their busy weekend time!

Sawyer & Co is such a great spot in Austin, especially if you’re with a group that wants options. The menu has an impressive variety... breakfast classics, Tex-Mex favorites, comfort food, and lighter choices; so there’s truly something for everyone. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared, and the laid-back, welcoming vibe makes it even better. A solid go-to whether you’re craving brunch, lunch, or just a relaxed meal with friends.

Dislikes: waffles and breakfast potatoes Likes: Strawberry Shortcake Pancakes, pork belly, and biscuit sandwich. The potatoes need some work, too soft, not enough seasoning. Waffle was a bit dry, even with syrup it was not very tasty. Great coffee

We came on Labor Day and it was decently busy. The first hostess was a lil rude asking if we had a reservation and seemed irritated when I said I didn’t. Then a gentleman came by and helped me he was very nice! Said it was a 45 minute wait but we actually only waited like 15 minutes. Once seated we waited awhile for the waitress to come by, she was okay service wise. I got the chicken fried steak and eggs, I ordered a side of potatoes because it didn’t say on the menu it came with anything other than steak and eggs. When the food came I had two orders of potatoes. I wish the waitress would have let me know. But I understand sometimes you don’t want to make the customer feel unsure of what they are ordering I guess.. The dish was good. My husband loved the chicken biscuit but said he’d pick paper boys over it. We also shared the French toast and it was good’ole French toast. Almost forgot! We got the prickly pear limeade and the mocha latte.. the latte was very disappointing honestly. I felt like the espresso was burned. The limeade was okay. I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu. But might not be my first choice when looking for brunch in Austin.

Went on a Sunday around 11:30am. There was a 45 min wait to sit inside but no wait on the patio. We chose patio, which wasn’t bad. It was shaded and had fans circulating. Service was good, food was alright, wanted to check out this place since I saw how cute the aesthetic looked online.

Chef Alain Braux

My first time here. Way out of my way but I felt adventurous. A mix of a long bar and a nice outside patio. But too hot (102F) for me to sit outside. The waitress. Claire, got to me fairly quickly. After that, she was friendly and helpful. Food: I ordered the salmon Benedict. The food was served quickly and hot. Instead of English muffins, it was served on potato cakes - crispy on the outside, soft inside -, a nice surprise. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The amount of smoked salmon was a little shintzy but acceptable for the price point. The hollandaise sauce was commercial, not freshly made from scratch but par for the course. The only disappointment was the salad. Plain Arugula greens with a flat salad dressing lacking acidity. Something should be done to improve that. My coffee drink was good (mocha). I did not order cocktails. I don't drink and drive. Overall, a good experience, slightly above average. Chef Alain Braux P. S. Beautiful and clean bathrooms.

It was our first time visiting. We would have gone back the next day for brunch again but our group got larger and it would have been hard to accommodate. I recommend a reservation for brunch. The food was delicious but the shining star is the cool mid century modern build out they did. The atmosphere is perfect.

I'm always keeping my eyes open for NOLA style food and I decided to try this place while on town. I got the crawfish etouffee and side of gumbo. The food was good but it wasn't hot and the crackers were stale. With as quick as the food came out my guess it that it wasn't prepared to order. Not a big deal but the food temp was the reason for only three stars. Funky little spot and I might be willing to try again on another trip.

Let me start by saying that every dish at this establishment has always been absolutely delicious, and very satisfying. We were given a 45 minute wait time, which is expected for brunch. There are signs everywhere saying that masks are encouraged. All staff was wearing masks. I went to the bar to order some drinks while we waited for our table, and was told I needed to order from the hostess. I went to the hostess, and was told to wait outside and they’d send someone out. I waited quite sometime before an employee came outside with another guests coffee order. He did not approach me, so I asked him if I could order a drink from him, and he said no because he’s underage. Completely understandable. He guided me inside to the hostess stand, and I was able to order from the hostess. Seems like this could have been a much easier exchange, but they were busy. I get it. We were seated before our 45 minute time frame, which was nice. We are outside since we had our pup with us. Service was not amazing, but the place was busy and seemed slightly understaffed. Still, wait times for food and drink were pretty standard. Nothing out of the ordinary at this time of day. The food was excellent. My drink however was quite disappointing. I ordered a spicy margarita. It was not spicy, and really just tasted like watered down tequila with a muddled jalapeño. I would not order this again. I was very surprised at the crystals bottle on our table. An extra ten seconds when turning tables could provide a much better presentation of a product used by all guests. A quick wipe down of the bottle and top while bussing would make so much of a difference. Having worked in service for 10+ years myself, this was always a priority. Your tables are your money - your real estate. Present them well. First impressions are everything. It’s the little things, the small details that make a big difference, and show pride in the establishment and quality of guest experience. It may not be the fault of the server, the restaurant may not require such standards for each table. Overall, the experience was good.

R
Ryan L

Atmosphere was good, a little busy for a Friday at noon. Service- I'll give the server the benefit of doubt, he did say he was busy. But I would have really liked some water when we got there. Another server poured us water, while most the other tables had an entire bottle at the table. Food-my wife had the Gaston scramble, 3/5. It was bland. The potatoes needed some kind of seasoning or salt at least. The "golden biscuit" was far more than golden. It was hard and she only ate the middle of it. I had the brunch burger, 4/5. Fries were good, burger was average, ok but not great.

Here’s an updated version of your review that includes that final thought: ⸻ Sawyer & Co – 3/5 We visited on a rainy Saturday morning and had a reservation. When we arrived, we still had to wait a bit for our table. We were seated outside, but the chairs were still wet from the rain. I had to use napkins to wipe them down myself—something I wish the staff had handled before seating us. Service was quite slow. I wanted to flag someone about the wet chairs, but no one was around, so I just took care of it so we could sit. It also took a while for our server to come by and take our order. On the bright side, the food was good and came out quickly once we ordered. One other waiter eventually came by to refill our water, and I appreciated that. An older woman also made her rounds to check in with tables, which was a nice touch, even though we were still waiting on water at that point. Overall, the food was solid, but the service and rainy weather put a damper on the experience. I think it would’ve been much better on a dry day with more attentive service.

Used to love this place. Went a couple times a month for 5 years, specifically for brunch. They have consistently raised prices to the point that we no longer go there. It’s like they want to be a high end spot for brunch but at the end of the day what made them great was the diner vibe AND the diner prices. There are plenty of other options in Austin that give you the same quality of food and fun for half the price. Lastly, they have turned over staff several times and the service level reflects that. One server will be great and the next will act like you’re inconveniencing them. Sad to see our favorite brunch spot turn into just another place in Austin.

M
Miriam Hogans

The service was phenomenal but the food was blah. I ordered the French toast and one pancake to go. As I was eating the French toast in the diner, I noticed how soft the bread was to the point where a little syrup completely ruined it. I continued to eat it because I didn’t want to waste my money. Got home, and the pancake was extremely doughy and undercooked.i could taste the batter. Not only that, there was nothing special about it. Just tasted plain.

I recently visited and had high hopes for an authentic southern dining experience, especially excited to try their famous fried pickles and sliders. While the atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable, I found that the food didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The fried pickles were underwhelming and lacked that signature crunch and flavor I was looking for, and the sliders missed the mark as well being dry and needing a side of bbq sauce . If you’re in the mood for some southern comfort food, I would recommend exploring other local spots that might offer a more traditional take on these classic dishes. Overall, while I appreciated the ambiance, I believe there are better options out there for those seeking true southern cuisine.

This place is ok if you can’t think of anywhere else to go. Parking is decent. The food is decent. The drinks were not good though. Service was a bit odd. Our server kept staring and hovering by our table. If you want to have a conversation here, forget it. The music is blaring and everyone shouts to be heard over it. The 70s vibe was cute, but not enough to make me come back.

Sarina Casarez

Atmosphere was great! It’s a cute retro vibe. Unfortunately the food was less than expected. I ordered salmon Benedict, it supposed to be over potato cake but they were out so we were told it would be over a muffin. When it came out it was over a biscuit and the hollandaise sauce was minimal. They do not offer a pancake side so you will need to order a pancake entree. We arrived at 1030 and by 1130 the host came by and advised us that he has a reservation for our table in 10 mins. So we basically had to leave. That was quite unprofessional in my opinion.

Really disappointed in our experience here. We wanted to go here for breakfast since paperboy was booked. My wife ordered an espresso martini and I ordered something else. We drink espresso martinis’s all the time and the espresso martini was not very good. It tasted like someone had dropped a bunch of coffee bean grind residue in our drink. We told our waiter that she wanted to send it back and he asked what was wrong with it. My wife said “it’s just not good” and our server rudely responded back “it is good” with a snarky attitude. I was a bit surprised he did that. Then after ordering appetizers and finishing them we waited for our server to come back who hadn’t checked in for over 30 minutes. I walked over to the bathroom really quick and while I was gone he came back with an attitude and sass. That was extremely rude and she was so disappointed by the entire situation. I don’t know who the server was but he had his nails painted and no one else working there did. I couldn’t believe how rude he was the whole service. It was my wife’s birthday and I understand if her statement on the drink came off blunt but my wife meant no disrespect it was just an opinion and right after, the mood of the server and the entire experience became hostile and uncomfortable. He decided to ignore us and judge us and decided we were a table not worth talking to. After continuing to throw negative energy towards our experience he then came over to my wife while I had stepped away from the table and rudely said “ are you gonna sit here and order nothing”! All in all the place has a lot of potential but the food is NOT worth the risk energy you get in return. We paid $65 tipped $10 he deserved $0-5 and we will never come back and will continue to warn people about how horrible of an experience it was.

I came here to celebrate my birthday and left completely disappointed. While we were seated quickly with our reservation, it took quite a while before anyone acknowledged us. Orders had to be repeated multiple times and still came out wrong or incomplete. I decided to treat myself to the Strawberry Mocha Matcha, which sounded unique but was honestly awful—chalky texture, poor-quality syrup, and unpleasant flavor. We mentioned it to our server, who apologized and said she’d remove it from the bill, but it was never taken off. The main reason we came was for the pecan-crusted bacon. We placed two orders, only to be served regular bacon and told afterward that they no longer carry the pecan version. Drinks sat empty, entrees arrived at random times (some with appetizers), and the food overall was sub-par—the potatoes were the only thing worth finishing. I was excited to introduce this place to friends, but we all left disappointed and feeling a bit cheated. For the quality we received, the high prices and poor service just aren’t justifiable. Save your money and excitement for somewhere that deserves it.

This place has lost its appeal. We loved dining at Sawyer’s but all the creole was pulled off the menu and the diner food is also gone… I love fried green tomatoes which only needs a dipping sauce. They brought it out covered in some sort of seed granola on top with cream cheese slathered on the bottom… The chicken fried steak came with a salad on top, including salad dressing, which made the dish taste spoiled and bitter even after removed. The batter puffed up when they over cooked it, as well, and it came with the smallest serving of mashed potatoes I have ever seen. We spent $70 on the worst meal I’ve had in a long time (we shared a plate and had one beer each). It is so disappointing to see a great restaurant lose itself to whatever they are calling their current identity crisis.
