Great place, been here twice. Large amount of protein options for each dish, great flavor. Not as expensive as a lot of other Thai places around. I had the fried tofu and yellow curry with shrimp. They give you the rice separately, like most other places, and then I dumped it into the curry. The portioning is very generous as well.
This is highly recommendable Thai dinner place. The food is very authentic and extremely tasteful. They only downside is that the sodas are canned and not fountain. Had the pork belly and OMG!
Perfect flavor balance! Appropriately spicy and portions always give me 2 meals out of one order. Food is always ready before I Even get there to pick it up! Very friendly staff and anyone will jump in if it looks like you need something. I'm not big on take-out/going out to eat however; this is a no-brainer for those days I just don't have time or energy to cook. Far East Soul Food!
This place is STUPID GOOD. Plus it's open until 2am which makes it automatically 2x as good as it already is. The selection is insane and they get stuff out of the kitchen so quick. I love coming here after a night out, or getting it as takeout on the way home from the airport. highly recommend the pad woonsen and the thom yum
This is the best Thai food in Austin hands down. The service is always phenomenal (William is the sweetest, and always very attentive) the food comes fast and hot… in massive portions and top quality. Best crab rangoons I’ve ever had and the chicken Pad Sea Ew is my go to. Great ambiance, overall favorite spot in Austin and they are open till 2… can’t get better than that!
Three of us met for lunch at noon and had a great experience. It has a pleasant ambiance and we had no trouble hearing each other. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. I especially loved the fabulous Pineapple Fried Rice and Pad Thai. I’d never been before and I’ll definitely be back!
Food was really great. It is not a very beautiful restaurant. The view is of a parking lot and a highway and they have laminated signs but the food was very good. I am not complaining about the decor because at this price point it's standard and I would definitely go again because the actual food was perfect. It was around half full when we were there on a Monday night but the food came fast. My wife got a really great curry. Not too sweet and great spice level. I had a level 3 spice which was perfect for me. I can eat a Thai chili raw but that's pretty much my limit so a level 3 was great.
First time dining here and I’ve had this place marked on my “want to go “ list for like the past year lol. We ordered the cheese wontons & the summer rolls w tofu for appetizers (forgot to snap photos). The cheese wontons were very small compared to what is typically served at places that offer cheese wontons; however, the summer rolls were large and delicious! We ordered the Pad Thai street style and I added serranos for an extra kick and also the Garee Beef Curry. The favorite dish was the Garee Beef Curry as it was so rich & flavorful. The main entree serving sizes were very large and these photos were taken after we ate dinner lol. We definitely have lunch for tmrw. Would definitely give them a try!
We drove from dallas and were looking forward to getting Sap on the way to our airbnb late at night. I would start off by saying I’ve had some of the worst and best thai food here. We ordered a Pad See Ew, Tom Kha, Panang Curry, and wings. The pad see ew….was so so so bad. As soon as i opened the lid I could tell because the noodles were still white. Like there was absolutely no seasoning in there besides spice, it just tasted like plain noodles with beef and veg, which is super disappointing for an $18 dish. The tom kha and curry though…spectacular. So if you go DO NOT get the pad see ew. The wings were okay
Food good enough that I would return but I wouldn’t come out of my way to eat here again. Papaya salad: I loved the flavours. The presentation was lacklustre and the giant tomatoes sliced and romaine lettuce was sloppy. Fish cakes: one of the best items for sure. The texture is bouncy and the sauce was fresh and tangy. Tom yom soup: it had the spicy sour taste. The bottom shrimp and lack of tomatoes seemed inauthentic but I can appreciate finding traditional Thai ingredients here must be hard. Adding shrimp brought this soup to $17 which just is not worth it: Chive fried appetizer: I liked the gooeyness of this dish. It being deep fried though is a lot so after eating one, that was enough for me. Pad Thai: I enjoyed it. I’m Thailand, it’s always served with some lime so we took the lime from the papaya salad and added it to this dish. I wish it was spicier but the waitress never asked us what spice level we wanted Desserts: mango sticky rice and the coconut cups were great! Would definitely get again. Overall, the food didn’t blow me away. It’s the best Thai I’ve had in Austin so I would come back if convenient for me and I was really craving Thai.
I went here around 10pm and I absolutely loved the food & the service. They were very attentive, kind, and polite. I got the Pad Thai & it was rich in flavor & more on the sweet side, which I was a fan of. The rice spring rolls were also great; although I think they didn’t had enough shrimp for the price. Overall, the food was great. My only complaint is the environment itself. I am unsure if it was because I went at a late hour or if this is because this restaurant is open until 3am, but the tables didn’t feel clean & neither did the floor, my water cup had residue in it from another drink, and the plate where my food was served did not look clean. If it wasn’t for the cleanliness of the space, I would give this place 5 stars! I will definitely be coming back for a late night dinner or if I’m craving some quick but great Thai food.
Let me start by saying we’ve frequented Madam Mam’s as a family for 2 decades and love them. My adult daughter discovered Saps last year and has decided she likes it better, so we were very excited to try for ourselves. The interior decor was similar and had the same homey feel. Service was slow this evening and it took almost as long to get drinks and to place our order, as it took to get our food! But the waitstaff was super nice and accommodating. We started with shumai and it was frankly one of the worst things I’ve had in a very long time. Dense, flavorless filling, enveloped in a way too thick wrapper. The was NOT the moist, soft, steamed shumai one would expect! Priced at $8.50, it was 4 dry, tasteless lumps of sadness with a dipping sauce that was just as lackluster. The main meal was just okay. We got exactly what we typically get at Mam’s - garee and pad se ewe. The garee was just as flavorful, but the beef was nowhere near as tender. We got two servings of pad se ewe and mine was just about the worst version of the dish that I’d ever had, anywhere - the noodles were not cooked through, the whole dish was dry, meat was tough and it just lacked flavor, and was also lukewarm. My daughter’s, which was brought out at the exact same time, on the other hand, was great. It was still a little bit on the dry side, but had a great wok hei flavor that mine lacked and was piping hot. It just seemed like mine had been sitting around or reheated. Based on this one meal, I would not return. But we *may* give it another shot simply bec my kid has eaten there several times and has loved it. Just a very disappointing first visit.
I’ve been wanting to try sap’s for a while now and hit it up on a Saturday evening. As expected, they were packed but we were seated immediately. Ambiance is okay, nothing to write home about but clean. Now, the service is my biggest complaint. We asked for a side plate, and a glass of warm water. These are pretty easy to accommodate but we received none and overall service was lackluster. Food wise, ordered the khao soi and green curry. Green curry was average, I’ve had better and it lacked flavor. The khao soi was fantastic, a rich, spicy broth that made the dish. This dish itself is a 10/10….but we found a piece of foil in it. They didn’t charge us once we told them about the foil but I am hesitant to come based on my overall experience.
I will say, this place has THE BEST Tom Kha I’ve had in my life. Other dishes are great too, like the Pad thai and the Chu Chee. Which is why I’m a regular here, it’s soooo delicious. However, the last few times I’ve came, there has been some things that are subpar on cleanliness. The booth we sat in was covered in rice pieces and oil stains, and my cup of hot tea I ordered had coffee splashes on it. Not to mention that there were multiple flies flying around the past two times I went. I think this place is great, but they could definitely work at keeping it cleaner and presentable to customers.
My family and I were excited to try this restaurant based on some positive reviews. We ordered A1 Sap Rolls, NS8 Guay Teaw Tom Yum, F1 Pad Thai, and F47 Pad Prik Gang. The portions were generous, and the flavors were fantastic, making an enjoyable meal. However, we did encounter some challenges with the service. We felt overlooked when we arrived, as one staff member seemed preoccupied with his phone and did not greet us. Eventually, he led us to a table, but receiving a warmer welcome would have been nice. The table that we chose felt sticky. Later, when I requested roasted chili and pickled peppers, another employee's response wasn't as friendly as I had hoped. She seemed a bit annoyed, but eventually brought what I asked for. While the food was excellent, improving the attentiveness of the service experience and cleanliness would make visits here even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, I don't think that we will be returning.
I drive by here a lot and decided to stop in today. Our service was good but the food was ok. The Pad Thai was a bit dry and too sweet for Pad Thai. The Rard na was too soupy, but it was good. Grew up with my mom cooking this dish so I knew what it should look and taste like. The calamari barely had anything in the plate even with my son grabbing one. Glad I came to try it out but not sure I’d be back.
Service was great. Food was edible. Prices were appropriate. Pad thai tasted more like ketchup than tamarind. Way too sweet. There was so much sauce to noodle ratio but that's probably because XS noodles were used. Som Tum was hard to chew and kinda soggy. Pineapple fried rice tasted like refrigerator. Tom Yum and beef noodle soup (pho) were decent. Curries are decent but rice too soggy. Everything was so salty. Extra msg? Have to drink a gallon of water and I still feel thirsty.
I love Saps, I think their food is great and eat it often, but they rip you off a little. Don't pay for extras. I paid their +$3 for extra coconut broth option in my Tom Kha soup... and in response, they didnt add any, they just put it into a bigger to-go container. I poured it into a small one, and it still fits perfectly. Big thumbs down, cheap and advantageous impressions 🙄😒
Food is decent, and I really like the late night hours. The food has always come out fast. The service in my last time visiting was extremely poor, lacking, and distasteful. I understand at late night hours, staff would be more urgent and in a rush; but the complete disregard for the customer was just disrespectful and mean. And being kicked out at close in the manner we did was not cool, when we were polite respectful and cheery. A lot of people were rowdy and obnoxious, but as service workers we showed up with presence and understanding- and were only given in return looks of irritability. Not everyone has been like this all time. The food is good to okay. The street pad Thai was really flavorful and filling. It tasted really authentic and light which I really appreciated amongst so much typical saucy pad thai. When we asked for egg instead of a meat for protein the women wouldn’t reason with us and kept trying to charge us 3 dollars, when the dish already came with egg, we just wanted a little more since we were skipping a meat for a protein The red curry with green beans instead of meat was mildly a joke. Essentially the curry was filled to the brim with lightly steamed green beans drenched in curry which basically acted as a sauce. It kinda looked careless and silly.
The service we received was fine, nothing to write home about. Our serving sizes were quite large (except for the cheese rolls) but left a lot to be desired. My pad thai had much of a tomato taste and kind of tasted like spaghetti. The cheese rolls were $10 and absolutely tiny, they were a complete let down, couldn't recommend less. There were also flies flying around us as we ate, making it very distracting while eating and overall not great experince.
I’ve been a loyal customer of Sap’s for years, but the service and cleanliness have significantly declined over time. It used to be an aesthetically pleasing restaurant with decent service. Now, the booths are torn, the tables are worn, and the service is appalling. They seem more focused on taking every to-go order that comes in. Last night, we had a terrible experience that sealed our decision to never return. I ordered a red curry dish, and it arrived with an extremely long black hair in it. I’m blond with short hair, so it was definitely not my hair. When I called our waitress over, she simply looked at the hair and asked if I wanted something else. There was no apology whatsoever. I requested the same dish without the hair, but it took forever to be brought to the table. By the time it arrived, everyone else around us had been served and finished eating. It’s common sense to escalate an order like mine to the front since it’s an order to correct a mistake made by the kitchen. We were irritated, but the worst part was when she brought the check. There was no discount, and again, no apology from anyone. It’s clear that Sap’s has gotten too big for its britches. If they can’t take care of the customers dining in their restaurant, they should stop taking so many to-go orders. You can’t do both well.
