We had the pleasure of going to this lovely bar after the delicious ramen we had next door and it did not disappoint. As soon as you walk in, you're taken to another world of island bliss. It is a little dark in there because it's a cave like atmosphere. The drinks are over the top and it's an entire experience. The drinks were delicious and the service was great. They have a couple of items on the food menu but I would focus on the drinks more than the food.
I recently visited Austin for a week with my girlfriend. We spent an evening upstairs sitting at the bar in the relaxed beach vibe dining room. It was truly the greatest bar we went to all week and one of the funnest nights we had. This place is the epitome of tiki culture through and through. The drinks were amazing, the bartenders were charismatic, extremely skilled, and just a joy to talk to. Just sitting in this atmosphere and observing the night unfold around you is an experience in itself and makes a trip well worth it. We bought a slurping bastard tiki mug as one of our only souvenirs from our entire trip. I highly recommend this bar, especially if you have any interest in tiki. We did not order much food because we ate previously, but the menu was extremely fun, we wished we had more room to eat so we could try some of the cool things they had. You guys are doing great things, you represent the best of tiki culture.
We stopped here before our dinner reservation at Odd Duck. The drinks were delicious and strong. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very kind and attentive. The drinks are not cheap; but will not leave you wondering if there is alcohol in them like many places do. The atmosphere is unbelievable- it really is like Disney for adults. Make sure to make a reservation and know that you enter around the back of the building. So much fun and worth the stop if you are looking for a fun date night!
Really nice atmosphere super Instagram worthy! The drinks are various and tasty! Food menu is short and to the point but I enjoyed trying some new things I had never tried before. Certainly on the pricier side but a must stop location for girls night!
I'm here for work and brought a group of my colleagues to Tiki Tatsu-ya for the evening. I've heard about Tiki Tatsu-ya for a number of years, but it really exceeded my expectations. The decor was dense, carefully thought out, and immersive. The drinks were not just delicious, but had small and fascinating riffs on traditional tiki classics (the addition of miso to the orgeat in their S.O.S. was a great example). But the hospitality of the staff was the best part--everyone we interacted with was warm, enthusiastic, and really made us happy to be there. This place deserves its reputation as one of the best tiki bars in the world.
We were visiting from HTX, and this is the Best tiki bar I’ve been to ☺️ from checking in to service to walking out, we had a great first experience. The drinks were yummy, they do have a couple of items they can make non-alcoholic, and the food was delicious. We got the kalua pork lettuce wraps, salmon miso poke 10/10, and the crab lagoon.
This place is incredible! We popped in for a few drinks and honestly what a ride! When certain drinks are ordered, there’s a whole theatrical experience with lights and music. The bartenders are clearly loving what they do, and their energy makes the whole place come alive. The atmosphere is fantastic, fun, vibrant, and full of good vibes. The drinks are unbelievable and crafted to perfection. Perfect spot for couples, groups, or anyone looking for a lively and memorable night out!
The place is super cute, with themed decoration and a great selection of drinks on the menu. The entrance was a bit confusing at first, but once I figured it out, I thought it was actually really charming. I work as a bartender somewhere else, so I can confidently say the drinks at Tiki are quite nice :) The bartender was very friendly, and the other staff checked in to see how our experience was going. I left with such a pleasant impression, I’d definitely recommend it for a date or a fun night out with friends.
Tiki Tatsuya is a fantastic spot! The drinks are absolutely amazing—creative, delicious, and beautifully presented. The tropical ambience makes the whole experience feel like an island escape, adding to the fun and immersive vibe. The menus, the presentation—everything was creative and full of character. The food portions were very small, so we really only considered it as a drinks place. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great night out with incredible cocktails.
The drinks are so good and they sneak up on you! Our server was awesome and helpful and I loved the things that happen in the bar at different intervals. The S.O.S was DELICIOUS and dangerous 🤪. The Aku Aku is super cute in the pineapple and the painkiller and zombie are great standards when you go to a tiki place. The theming and decor was next level fantastic and such a treat. The bites are small but yummy and we enjoyed them.
Very cool Tiki bar. A little speakeasy vibe as well. The place is presented as a travel tour guide complete with a waiting area outside the door with advertisements and tropical sounds. The interior is of course over the top Tiki and did not disappoint. Drinks were on point with some having a little show to go with it (think volcano eruptions, lighting storms etc) very fun. It is two levels and the decor runs throughout. I will definitely be coming back Reservations are a must here.
YES! YES! YES! Best tiki bar I’ve ever been to! The dedication to the theme is incredible. I’m in love with this place. It makes Disneyland feel like it’s not trying hard enough. The drinks were super yummy. Loved the strip n go naked…had two of those 🥴 the taro tots were super good too. Great snack to have while sipping on cocktails. I even loved the bathroom. With the pirate reading god knows what, the parrot hanging up from the ceiling. The staff were super friendly and genuinely seemed happy to be there. I def want to come back here and try all the other drinks. Especially the ones they catch on fire tableside!
To be honest, this location is such a surprise and a refreshing escape from the usual downtown Austin bar scene. Instead of big city vibes, you feel like you're transported somewhere completely new and different. If you’ve ever been to The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas, this place gives off the exact same vibes. The service is incredible, the food is great for a small snack or bite, and the drinks were perfect—especially for a price under $20. You really can’t beat this experience if you're here in Austin.
By far my favorite bar in Austin, maybe anywhere. The atmosphere deserves 10 stars, the mood is amazing, it's just a perfect representation of what tiki bars could do - take you away from the normal and make you feel like you were somewhere else. Drinks are so good, presentation is mind blowing. Most knowledgeable staff, great understanding of ingredients. The entire menu is amazing, but ask for recommendations, the staff really show a love for this place and their drinks! I've visited 3 times this year, every employee was amazing, Allie gave us great recommendations and I had 3 back to back winners!
This is a listed location combining 2 separate locations. One is a Ramen house , the other a Tiki Bar. The Ramen house is pretty decent as far as the food is concerned. It's in the front. Out back is the Tiki Bar. Kind of a cool place vibes wise but you will find their beer menu to be limited to very few, as few as 3 option, and their mixed drinks may have been the best in Austin for all I know but I'd never pay $29 for a drink outside of rare vintage wines by the glass.
The downfall of this restaurant, in our opinion, is the service, or lack thereof. The hostesses were pleasant, but not overly welcoming. The bar staff was preoccupied setting up the restaurant, even though it was late afternoon. They only had a couple of occupied tables when we got there. The employees behind the bar spent their time chatting with each other and didn't engage with us much. Part of the fun of a tiki bar is the ambiance and the experience. For us, the drinks were good but for $18 they tasted like other Tiki Bar drinks. This experience just lacked anything special for us. Probably won't be back.
Rating: 3.1/5 [dine in] This spot is hard to find if it’s your first time—it’s tucked behind Ramen Tatsuya. I’d recommend parking in front and walking around back. The ambiance is super moody with red lighting, so it’s not ideal for taking pictures. The food and drinks were just okay. You’re mostly paying for the vibes and unique glassware/decor. The menu is definitely a highlight—it looks like a treasure map, which adds to the experience and makes ordering feel fun and adventurous. Personally, I think the drinks at Zanzibar taste better. Overall, it felt overpriced. For a $72 meal, I left feeling pretty unsatisfied—even though the service and atmosphere were solid. Before we left, they offered to mail postcards for you which is a cool and memorable touch (though ours didn’t arrive until months later). What we ordered: Strip 'N Go Naked ($15): Gin, lemongrass shochu, passionfruit, tangerine, and cider. Cobra Kai ($16): Overproof rums, Armagnac, clairin, baijiu, passionfruit, fassionola, citrus, and spices. Served in a cool snake cup. Slingin’ Shrimp Musubi ($12): Tempura shrimp, Singapore chili sauce, nori. Mushroom Musubi ($11): Grilled trumpet mushroom, mango kimchi, tare, nori. Spam Musubi ($10): Housemade spam, pineapple teriyaki jam, chicharron furikake, nori. Taro Tots ($8): Fermented coconut ranch, nori, shichimi togarashi. All of the musubis were mid. The flavor combinations sounded unique but didn’t really elevate the dish and still felt basic. The taro tots were super crispy, which I liked, but the flavor wasn’t for me. It’s definitely an acquired taste. I didn’t enjoy it at first, but it slowly grew on me. However, I wouldn’t order it again.
Eat before you come. If you want to drink- they have specialty drinks of all sorts that they dress up & make the theme come to life, but the food menu was small is not satisfying, for me, anyway. I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps & let’s just say I shared my plate & didn’t eat much of my dinner. I didn’t get to see too much of the inside because we were ushered upstairs & away from the crowd. It was an intimate experience for dates… I was just expecting more overall… oh, & they don’t tell you about parking. If you park next to the ramen place - soft edge (I think)- is a part of tiki & you’re able to park in that lot.
The drinks were interesting and the ambiance is definitely unique. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. They also tried to squeeze 12 people into a table meant for 8, which made everything uncomfortable. To make matters worse, one of our friends sat on a bamboo chair that broke — he was embarrassed and hurt, and the only response from staff was a casual “my bad.” Overall, disappointing experience.
We had really high hopes for our dinner, it was on our list to try for a long time! We have 3 young kids and both work very full time so our time out is precious! My husband is a chef in Austin and this was on his bucket list as well. Also! I turned 40 this week and this seemed like a fun place to celebrate. However, from the moment we sat down it was highly dissapointing. Our server Toby or Topy (we could barely hear him) was super unhelpful. We asked for food and drink recommendations and he just read off the menu. We ended up choosing a food platter that was just okay. He barely checked on us, and when we had questions he acted annoyed. My husband also let them know I was turning 40 with the thought of a dessert offering like most restaurants do. There was no mention or acknowledgment. We then asked if there was room downstairs at the bar to have one more drink. He said he would check for us, never did and when we followed up with him, he asked us to ask the hostess. We ended up going to another bar for last drink. $200 later and hugely dissapointed, we will never come back.
