Finally decided to give this place a try and I am very happy I did. The food was very delicious and flavorful. I highly recommend to anyone looking for something different and exciting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lunch specials are very affordable and fulling. You get a great bang for your buck. I will definitely be coming back.
Delicious, authentic Indian food with amazing flavors and great service. Everything was fresh, perfectly spiced, and clearly made with care. Generous portions, fair prices, and a super welcoming staff. Highly recommend!
We finally came to dine in. We used to eat from their previous location near MET supermarket. Foods are still delicious and made perfectly. Great service
Good quality, inexpensive Indian food We visited Hylan Curry & Grill buffet for a family lunch in June 2025. While the dish selection was limited, everything we tried was excellent - tasty, flavorful, and hearty. I just wish they didn’t use tilapia in their fish dishes. While it’s the cheapest fish on the market, it’s also the lowest quality one, often imported from questionable sources. Surprisingly, the lassi was quite bad - sour and diluted, likely made with the wrong yogurt. This should be an easy to fix. We make lassi at home, it’s very simple, no rocket science. I’m looking forward to visiting this place again for a non-buffet meal and trying their Nepalese dishes.
Tasty, definitely a little different from other Indian places I've been. I'll be back to try some Nepalese dishes. Came back today to check out the Sunday buffet. Everything was delicious and for $16.95 per person its a great deal too.
My bf and I learned about this place from FB Food Group. We originally wanted to check out and choose what to get from the menu until this nice gentleman told us about the buffet 12PM-3PM. Told him we can come back later since we arrived 30 minutes too early lol. When we arrived, we were greeted by him again and led us to the table. Very quiet and felt like I can’t stop smelling the good food. We prepared to get the food from the buffet and holy moly, they were absolutely delicious. The price is super worth it since I am satisfied with what I got. My personal favorite were the samosas, goat curry, tandoori chicken, and (okra with onions). Mango lassi (drink) is delicious! In short, this is perfect for your first time going there for lunch so you can check out and then order specific ones during non-buffet days! I don’t often go in this area because it’s a little far from where I live. Thank you for satisfying my cravings. (Ate there on May 31st) Photo contains samosas, goat curry, sweet and sour chicken, okra with onions, and tandoori chicken (there’s rice lol, just hidden)
Firstly the owners are the nicest people. The food is the best on this island. We had chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, chicken vindaloo. Each has it's own distinct flavor and absolutely delicious. We had reshmi kabab, vegetable samosa, and vegetable pakora again sooo delicious. The onion naan and regular naan are the best accompaniment to sop up all that lovely gravy!! I feel blessed to have eaten this beautiful food!!
First time doing a review on a restaurant. I have to do a review because I was so SHOOK that I haven't had such an authentic Indian curry since I left my part-time job from college (I was working with Indian & Sri Lankan coworkers). The taste of the classic chicken curry has all the spices, and the tandoori chicken is tender and juicy, another thing to mention is the sauce came with the tandoori chicken, it was so darn good that I ended up purchasing the sauce and some naan to take out so I can eat for the next day. Will definitely come back again!!! So grateful that this restaurant opened on this island 💜
Excellent. Formerly Indian Xpress 2, Hylan Curry & Grill has been operational for about a year now. Stopped in for a quick bite and tried their fantastic lunch menu. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, which is always welcome. The food was spectacular; it is a huge step up from Taste of India II in New Dorp. Will definitely be back.
Food was amazing!! The server was absolutely super kind and very accomodating and the food was remarkable. I HIGHLY recommend the Mushroom Malai Wali and Methi Mutter Malai curry. Will DEFINITELY be coming here again and again
The food is unbelievable here, the decor needs updating but it is very clean. The service is great, friendly and super helpful if you are not familiar with the dishes. From the samosas, mulligatawny soup, entrees and dessert..some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Do not let the decor scare you away, this place is legit a gem. If you do not like the decor, just order takeaway..you will not be disappointed.
Great tasting food. Service is on point. Have been waiting for them to open and finally did January 1, 2023. Must try their food. Excellent.
Hylan Curry and Grill is by far the best Indian Restaurant in the Staten Island Brooklyn neighborhood. The food is very tasty and always fresh. The ambience is good. The owner Prakash is a a great guy and always serving people and makes sure to take care of all guests at the Restaurant. The food quantity is very good for dinner and the owner always makes sure and asks for more “Rice” with no cost. The Buffet on Sunday is very well priced with lots of chicken, goat and shrimp or fish items. In an arena where most Indian Restaurants have cut down on the portions of food, Hylan Curry and Grill is opposite and serves good portions of food at a decent price. This place is one of the best in the area and I highly recommend Hylan Grill and Curry.
This place is phenomenal. I was in the mood for Indian food and just threw it into a Google search and drove to this place. Parking in the back. Ordered Samosas and butter chicken with basmati rice. This is the closest thing to authentic Indian food that I've had in a while. Happy for the delicious food and great experience.
Eat all you can Sunday buffet - very good! All our favorite entrees - butter chicken, goat curry, Chana masala, tandoori chicken - at the buffet. Restaurant did not scrimp on the ingredients or the taste. It’s not spicy but you can make it spicy by adding the onion chutney and/or green chutney which is also part of the buffet. Tamarind chutney is there too. Naan bread - also included! Woohoo! Mango Lassi - so happy that this was part of the buffet! Where else can you get unlimited mango lassi?! (And ginger chai was the other option - add your own sugar) Bathroom - clean and senior friendly (and wheel chair accessible) Halal - yes! Cleanliness - very clean. Ambiance - simple. The focus is on the food. Service - very kind and thoughtful service Normally, we order for delivery on a regular basis. This was our first time doing the buffet. It did not disappoint and will definitely be back!

This place is undoubtedly the best Indian (South Asian) restaurant on the island. Loved their chicken tikka masala, Nepalese chicken momos and lamb biryani. 😋 Also, do try their Indian coffee it’s delicious. We will definitely come back 👍
Held a birthday party here for about 30 people- adults & kids. Friendly staff. Buffet-style. Spacious. I still return since then to dine-in. Wheelchair accessible for one of our family members too. I recommend!
Very delightful small buffet. The samosas and chicken tikka are amazing. The naan is top notch, comes out warm and buttered. The goat curry is also a great choice, nearly everything is full of flavor, warm and tender. I tried a little of everything and had no complaints with anything. Price is affordable and staff is very attentive to your needs. Clean, definitely a “lowkey” kind of vibe. Glad it exists and will come often, especially for the buffet hours.
I love this place but please update your site when you’re closed :) I waited 2 hours before calling and realized you were closed after being able to place an order on your website. Otherwise this is hands down the best Indian food in all 50 states.
I started physical therapy recently & that’s how I ended up finding this place near by. I liked their food so much I ended up going there twice already. First I tried their chicken lunch thali, lemon drink, food was yum. Then the next day I tried the Nepali appetizer called ‘ Drums of Heaven’ they were sooo good. And the Hot & Sour soup was delicious. I also like the papar they give you with 3 different kind of chutneys. I loved the mango chutney. Customer service was great both times . As a halal restaurant I wish they didn’t serve alcohol. So I can say this Restaurant is 100% halal accomplishment!
Visited this place for a group dinner party yesterday. The food was delicious with very friendly service. This corner institution offers good Indian/Nepali food on this busy thoroughfare (Hylan Ave) in Staten Island, NY. It has a small parking lot behind for about 6 vehicles, but there is lots of street parking available in the residential neighborhood behind. We were a group of about 65 adults and booked the place for our event. Will definitely patronize this place again!

I'm going to try this place out next time I'm on the island to most likely adjust my rating. I drove all the way to the Island because I saw a video of their buffet on facebook. Well worth the over an hour drive. The only reason I took one star away was because they had no heat inside and some of the food was cold and it was unpleasant . Everybody had to wear their jackets. Everything tasted great even cold, but I do prefer my food to be hot and warm would be acceptable. Staff gets five stars for the fact that they had little personal heaters all over the restaurant. I'm already looking forward to coming back with my daughter and my girlfriend. We were uncomfortably cold, so we weren't able to stay as long as we would have liked but oved my lunch today!

I recently placed an order that included chicken fried rice and lamb biryani. Unfortunately, the delivery was delayed, resulting in the food arriving cold. Furthermore, the lamb biryani I paid for was substituted with chicken biryani. This was quite disappointing, as was the insufficient seasoning in both dishes.
Worst service ever. Waited for 2 hours and still didn’t get my food delivered to me. The owner was not even apologetic. I ordered via uber eats and the restaurant is not even using their guys to deliver the food. I wonder how much business are they losing by keeping their own delivery guys, who are doing such poor jobs.
