Update. Owners reached out to me and explained the situation . they're in the process of rebuilding. So that makes sense why it looked a little run down to me not fair to give them a bad rating for that or that the milkshake machine was down at the Stanton location, the girl at Fountain Valley would not have known that. No milkshakes at Fountain Valley gal was nice enough to suggest Stanton location had them. Went there and their machine wasn't working. Building was pretty run down. Service was good food was okay. Food wasn't like I remember it to be back in high school when I would go all the time . I went to the one in Colton California. The green sauce tasted the same as I remember though. But that was a long time ago and taste buds change. I'm thankful for Naugles and will go back Because the The management and ownership in their response is worth trying it again . Thank you
I heard about this place being the OG Del Taco ...and I love me some Del Taco. Had to hit them up and try their soft tacos and holy cow! So, so much better than anything you can get from Del Taco. It was amazing. I also got the chili cheese fries with bacon. Amazing. I wish I came with more of an appetite so I could eat more food. They have a deal where you can get 10% off if you show up during the first 2 hours after opening and the last 2 hours before closing so if you are in the area at that time I would encourage you to go. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the food was delicious. They are a little out of the way and I love supporting owner/operator business so hit them up. Support these guys and give them your business. You won't be disappointed.
The Bun Taco & Cheese Burrito i ordered were legit. Good old recognizeable flavor. The white sauce on the Bun Taco was good too. The Original Sauce at the Salsa Bar dispenser was just like i remembered. Nice staff, clean place. Glad to have Naugles back in my life. I wish they sold beer here.
This made my day! I will never forget this experience! My wife and I use to go to Naugles on Avalon and Albertoni in Carson 34 years ago. We use to go twice a week. I happened to look them up and found them. The food taste just as good as it did 34 years ago! I'm definitely coming back. I'm in love all over again. Thanks Tom Hanks, he knows who I'm talk about. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
First off, the green salsa is delicious. If they make this here fresh, sorry mom but their salsa is better than yours. Lol. The prices are really good. The fries were nice and hot also fresh. The hard-shell tacos are way better than tacobell any day. The music selection they play here is nice. First time here. Gonna come again all week since my jobsite is 3 minutes away.
First time going here and I definitely plan on becoming a regular. I got the taco cup and my fiance got two tacos and burger. Absolutely amazing food, you can really tell that everything is made fresh and not just cheap assembly line mass-produced meat substance. 10/10!!!
I used to go to Naugles in La Mirada when I was in high school. In fact, that might be the ladt time I had bern there! I heard that they were opening again, so I went to the Fountain Valley one. It wasnt in a stand alone building like I remembered, but the tastes were there! I got the taco salad cup (formerly the mexucan salad) They even made me a larger salad! The guy was so nice! Naugles, I have missed you! We will be back!
My favorite blast from the past. Love those tacos.
YES IT TRUE NAUGLES IS BACK, IN SPITE OF DEL TACOS EFFORT TO KEEP THE NAME AND NOT USE THE RECIPES. I remember when NAUGLES was a common competitor to Del Taco, Taco Bell and you could choose any of the restaurants you wanted to go to. I just tried the chicken club rap, (awesome Rap) I think you really need to try it, and see for yourself the quality NAUGLES has come back with. I will only say one thing negative, the prices are not very competitive with the two other competitors. However if you know NAUGLES and like their food, come here, and try the food for yourself!!
way better than Del Taco and Taco Bell. with driving and walking in to order
Finally got to stop here. Bun taco's great!
Got the crunchy tacos and fries. I was really surprised the Taco was deep-fried, but in a good way. It did not fall apart like I was expecting in a good way. The Taco was definitely worth the price. The fries could use a season salt of some type. The only bad was not enough seating to take the family. Well done. I will be back.
Best burger experience I've had in a while! The burger itself was delicious. The white sauce is spot on. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating to my requests. And the price was extremely affordable. If I lived anywhere near here, I would be back every day!
Bun tacos 🌮 and bean burritos 🌯 are top notch!
Really good service. Friendly. The food was good, Wish they had small packet taco sauce from original restaurants in the past. Salsa and taco sauce is still good. The dining area is cool with stripes on the wall that give it a nostalgic vibe. Street and parking lot area to park. Went during lunch time on a Friday and was surprisingly empty. Prices are not bad, not cheap but decent. Taco Burgers are good. Fries are crisp. If you're in the area and like Mexican food try it out.
Good size portions. Chili cheese fries as good as ever
This place is my favorite taco and things spot. Get the OG tacos, they're huge and amazing. I made the drive from deep in the heart of San Diego just to eat at Naugles. They did better than the original Naugles and the people are friendly as could be. I couldn't recommend any establishment more. 100 mile one way drive can't stop me from getting tacos from here. Stop by and find out why I would drive 200 miles for tacos.
Walked into Naugles last night, and I was immediately greeted by the nicest dude. After telling him that I grew up on stories about Naugles from my mother, and placing my order, I asked if it was his place. He informed me that he is the owner, and we talked for a few about the restaurant. I had to try all of the things my mother had told me about over the years. I ordered a ground beef hard shell taco, bun taco, a cheese burrito, and a small fry. The food was awesome! The quality was definitely more than I had expected. And, the prices are fair. The hard shell taco, and bun taco were my personal favorites! The cheese burrito and fries were equally awesome! There's definitely no skimping on ingredients! Even the green and red sauces were on point! As I was finishing my first item, Christian came over to check if everything was good, and we ended up talking and swapping stories for the next 20 minutes, or so. This is a great spot, with great food, and an owner who takes pride in the food he serves, and takes interest in his customers. I feel like I left with a great experience, a new go to restaurant, and a new friend. Thanks, Christian!
This is great Mexican-American food! I love the way they do it. The cheese burrito has lots of cheese, seemed like real cheddar and they don't use "cheesy" sauces. The steak & egg burrito was also great. I liked the nachos built on fries (instead of chips) (oh, with real cheese instead of fake cheese sauce). Ya gotta try it!
Before Del Taco bought them out, there was NAUGLES. I always loved them and when I heard there was a reboot restaurant, I headed over to see how it was. Imagine my surprise when I stepped in and it was like a time machine, the burritos, burgers, and hot sauce I remembered just as they once were! The Fountain valley location is great, my favorite is the Club Burrito with bacon, though the Bun Taco is also a totally Naugles thing. If you're looking for something different than the usual chains or fast food stuff, try Naugles, they rock.
The best tasting ,old school ,original flavor , Mexican fast but delicious food anyone from SoCal should remember and appreciate for the time, quality, and perfection they put into every order every day. The service was excellent and appreciated. Please support this wonderful business. The tacos are always full and flavorful as well. The Combo burrito is always the bomb 💣.. and so filling, a meal in itself. The taco cup is awesome and a welcome addition to any order. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu...
I love Naugles!! The food tastes exactly like it did back in the day. So much nostalgia in one place. I am so glad they got the name and started it up. I always stop here after working in HB on my way home. Get a taco salad cup. If you were in So Cal in the 70s and 80s, stop by and get reminded of your misspent youth.
Haven’t had Naugles since I was a kid, but I totally remember the taste! Still delicious, and will definitely be back. Not sure why other posts were down on the location. It’s off a main street and easy to spot. Plenty of parking outside, plenty of seating inside. Thanks for bringing back some So Cal nostalgia!
I have been going here since opening day and love the food and great memories. It is amazing that they were able to bring back the same food.
Worth a visit for nostalgia sake and the good food. Open daily now, check out the articles on how they arose from the ashes thanks to programmer and Mexican food blogger Christian Ziebarth. Give the burritos a try, always ask for green sauce. The taco salad cup is a great option for quick and easy. Finally, the burgers are great and sub crinkle cut fries for chips on any nacho dish.
Total nostalgia for me! High school days everyone used to head to Naugles to finish off Friday and Saturday nights after midnight. May have been so cool just because it was the only thing open and we were hungry but I remember the food being pretty good and satisfying along with a little socializing in the parking lot.
All of the earmarks of a fantastic restaurant without the pretentious attitude or excessive cost. Delicious and quality food, remarkably good pricing, and an absolutely wonderful staff. I'm incredibly proud of what the owner has done with the resurrection of the classic Naugles of my youth.
Stumbled upon this place when I was hungover and hungry in the area. I saw that they had a cheese burrito on the menu and knew I had to try this place. I am in love! A perfect snack sized burrito with sauce and cheese, hot and melty and delicious. It reminded me of the lauded Las Palmas nearby (but I do have to say Las Palmas has a better flour tortilla, though Naugles was mighty good too.) Very friendly staff, be sure to stop in! Lots of free parking.
Hole in the wall. Good food. Fast friendly service. Only had one customer in line ahead of me during lunch (late) services. Plenty of parking. Hours are limited unlike most fast food places.
Just like the good old days. The tostada was huge and the fries were so good. Perfect meal under 8 bucks
I love this place. The food is great I love the bun taco, so good. They serve crinkle cut fries that are delicious. A must try at least for nostalgia. Try the combo cup
I’m so glad this restaurant is back. The food in service was incredible. We need one in Los Angeles. Love this place
Our family gathered at Naugles Tacos & Burgers in Fountain Valley for a Celebration of Life lunch honoring my dad, Jim Naugle, following his interment at Rose Hills Memorial Park. As far as I know, we are not related to Dick Naugle’s family, and this was not my father’s restaurant. We chose Naugles Tacos & Burgers because it felt right. My family lived in California during the height of Naugles’ success in the 1980s, and it was part of the backdrop of our lives. (If you haven’t seen the hilarious TV commercials they aired featuring Roger Carmel and Avery Schreiber, they are available on YouTube.) From the earliest planning through the day itself, the staff treated our family with genuine kindness and care. On a day filled with emotion, that kind of professionalism and humanity matters more than you can imagine. The team made sure our family had the space and time we needed. We never felt rushed or out of place. Instead, we felt welcomed and supported, which made an enormous difference. The burritos and tacos were delicious and made fresh to order. The staff also went out of their way to brew extra pots of coffee for my relatives. This small gesture, after an emotional morning at the cemetery, meant a great deal. Sharing a meal after saying goodbye is a quiet but important part of remembrance. The food was exactly what my dad would have enjoyed, especially with extra hot sauce. My family and I will always be grateful for the warmth, respect, and compassion extended to us as we honored Jim. Thank you to Christian Ziebarth, Frank Ferrini, and the entire Naugles team.
Just like I remember! Went for the cheese burrito the hard taco was also awesome. Can't wait to go back.
Very happy to have my childhood and teen years preserved by Naugles! Breakfast burritos, taco salads, the CHEESE burrito (IYKYK) - the best stuff! Y’all go eat, and re-live yo youth!
Nostalgic AND tasty! Great service. Made to order. Good burgers, big burritos and giant tacos. Breakfast all day. Don't forget the cheese burrito with red or green sauce. A must have. I wish this place could expand and make it work. I try to get in here at time I'm in the area. Sometimes I'll even go out of the way to make it.
Whenever I am visiting Orange County this is one of my favorite places to eat. I especially enjoy the taco salad cup. I order it with the tortilla chips, which are thick and tasty. The Ortega burger is an interesting change of pace from your standard cheeseburger as well. The restaurant itself is humbly furnished but clean, and the staff are always friendly.
Finally got to stop in here. Used to go to a Naugles in Riversode back in the day. The food here is just like it was back in the day. Had the Naugleburger combo and added on a hard taco too. All the food was on point! Even the OG salsa was just like I remembered! Thank you for this trip down memory lane, wishing success in future expansion!
Was a cool blast from the past! Nostalgic but better than I remember because even though they had the favorite recipes, they enhanced them and had some tasty homemade taco sauce. Phenomenal service. Incredibly welcoming and friendly. This would be a place to invest your lunchtime and your money! I think they are looking to expand...😏👍
This was a blast to the past!! I remember my parent taking us to Naugles as kids … way better then the other. Enjoyed this with the family today and was not disappointed! Had the classics like taco salad cup, tostadas, and tacos and all was a win especially with the red and green sauce. Big win for that whole family
We got to Naugles Tacos and Burgers around 5:15pm. Ordered a Naugle Burger (2 beef patties, 2 slices of Monterrey Jack Cheese, lettuce, white sauce, tomato, pickles), Crispy Hard Shell Taco (ground beef, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes), Chicken Soft Taco, Taco Salad (ground beef, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, white sauce) and Bean and Cheese Burrito. Everything was simple but really good, the employees were super nice and accommodating with any questions we had.
So happy to finally get a chance to visit Naugles, after they were reborn in a true David VS. Goliath battle against Del Taco, who had acquired and subsequently shut down the chain in the 90s. I was a fan of Naugles growing up in Socal, and am still a fan today. Glad to see they are doing well, will be back!
Breakfast burrito was good! Steak and egg and cheese. Got 2 cheese burritos. 1 red sauce, 1 green. Neither really spicy, which I like, brings me back to my childhood. They didn't have any chicken when I went, so I didn't get to try the club burrito.
I have mixed feelings about Naugles. I remember when they were naugles everywhere in Southern California before Del Taco Purchased and merged together with them. The food here is reminiscent of old Naugles or Del Taco. It's slightly pricier than it used to be but it's great for a nostalgic flash back. I also need to add that the food is GREAT!
Had the combination burrito and a soft taco. Boy did that bring back memories. My Sweetie had the cheese burrito, she said it was just like they used to be - great. Hopefully they will start opening these again (someplace closer to home). Will be returning soon.
Food was good service was good. Seems like a small family owned business. Nice seating outside. I would definitely stop by here again when I'm in town and would recommend for first timers to try it out. Smaller portions though for a good price so make sure you get two items if you are super hungry.
Just like the old school Naugles just not available at 3am
Naugles has always been a favorite of ours and still is but this last time we ate there they had a new Cook and she really cut back on our portion So we will return to see if she has been trained alittle better.
I was a child in the Midwest when the original Naugles chain was absorbed by Del Taco (something else I didn’t try until 2006, when the latter expanded out East), so I have no recollection or attachment to the original. That said, this place reminds me of what Taco Bell USED to be like when I was a kid with better ingredients and better flavors. The aroma definitely smells like a fast food restaurant, but a GOOD fast food restaurant. The service was expedient and the food was solid. I would love it if they had takeout menus and nutritional information posted, but this was an experience that made me feel young again and I’ll definitely consider eating there again.
Nostalgic visit, grew up eating Naugles. It's just like I remember. Got a taco and beef burrito, portions are generous. Took burrito home and it made great leftovers 😋
I really want to give this place 5stars because it's a reboot by popular demand and it's my last name!! The history is fascinating - with a Google search. But it only gets 4 because, they're trying, but falling a bit short. We had burrito, taco, fries, and a burger so we could test it all. Ground beef is only ok. Great portions, fries and burger. Burrito is very large and filling. Fries are so tasty! I understand why they're in a business park, but cleanliness is important in bathrooms. Also an odd arrangement of their servicing spaces. Overall, I'd go back to sample more things. Wishing them the best and... Holy cow get a better print shop! I want some Merch!!
There’s a reason why this is NOT a fast food restaurant and no drive-thru. You get solid 3.5 Star, made-to-order food like the freshly fried hard shell corn tortilla for their Original Taco. Their salsa is refrigerated because it’s fresh and not in a packet. I personally like their salsa verde. My go-to’s are the Original Taco (good amount of ingredients) and the Bun Taco. My friend says the Chicken Combo Burrito is good. And one time, when is was “off”, they were re-made it with a smile…good customer service. Last note, the soda station is refillable! Logistics-wise, they’re in an unassuming, industrial strip mall with plenty of lot parking as well as street parking on Mt Langley.
I take it they're location on beach closed? I'm bummed 😞
So it took me a while to try them! Back when I was younger and clubbing, we ate here all the time and their food was so great. I ordered the Famous Burrito, and we wanted some tacos. They say they use the same recipe, but to me it didn't taste the same. I was disappointed with a flavor, I felt they could use more sauce in their meat, and I was surprised that they had really no choices in Salsas or hot sauce, which didn't really help the matter. Hopefully they will change that in the future because I don't want them to go out of business, but something is missing!
I got the combo breakfast burrito and some fries. Burrito was bean heavy and a was too salty. And I love salt so I was thrown off. Cook must have been happy that day. 3 stars for burrito. It was okay. Fries were old-school style. Nothing special but not bad. 4 star fries. Might have to come back for the burgers, but breakfast ain't it y'all.
I was really excited to try the "new" old Naugles. It must have been a bad day, because it wasn't very good. After a 20 minute wait for our food, my husband went asking about it. They had given our order to another person. So, we retrieved our food from them and ate a very cold lunch. I had ordered 2 regular tacos and a small fry. One taco came with cheese as pictured, one didn't. The fries were stone cold and not very good. Maybe it will be better the next time.
Wanted to try a different place for lunch in so cal, and naugles sounded interesting. I tried one of the burgers and was disappointed. The burger was bland and a frozen type patty. Other reviews talked about the chicken burrito. They did have good fries and the sauces were pretty good. The history of the namesake is linked to del taco and some of the flavors reminded of it. When I am back in so cal I might give a second chance and order a burrito.
I’m so happy Naugles made a comeback about 10 years ago! However, let’s make sure all info is up to date. Hubby and I recently drove from San Diego only to find out they didn’t open until 10am and we were there around 8am. I’m willing to stop by again soon!
My husband and I were so excited to come here, we used to here back in the 80’s all the time. We were very disappointed though. Although my burger wasn’t too bad (not like I remember it though) my husbands combo burrito was terrible. The meat was burned as if they scraped it from the bottom of the pan. He didn’t even finish it and through the other half away. Just like 2020, a big bummer...
I don't know what happened to this place but the food is going down hill at a high rate of speed. Order a taco and combination burrito the taco meat is absolutely horrible how do you guys expect to stay in business. Change your meat back to the way it was back in the day and get rid of the mystery meat you all are serving now. Best of luck to you.
This location is a real shame, poorly maintained, dirty, the drive-through menu board is illegible, and there is no pride of ownership. Employees don’t wear any uniform, the food is subpar, french fries were cold, presentation is generic, no proper branding on the Packaging. The pricing was also extreme, way overpriced for the product. Overall, a true disappointment and sad representation of a classic old brand. Avoid all costs.
Food is typical fast food. Similar to Taco Bell meat but they actually fry the taco shells. Tater tots are the same price of fries but they only give you 12 Tots……
Ordered from the food truck at the Corona Antique Fair. Food was bad to decent. Online ordering was a pain. Took over 30 minutes for order to be made. Guy in front of me his order took 40 minutes.
The service and food was passable. However, I ordered a soft drink only to find that everything but regular Coca Cola was available. That could of been mentioned before I upgraded to a large. When asked about it, I was told "that's all they had." Basically ended up paying for a large water. The club burrito tasted like mostly cheese. The carne asada taco was pretty good.
Disappointed 😞 I loved Naugles as a teenager and came here hoping to find what I had remembered. Unless you were specifically seeking this place out you would drive right by it. Inside wasn't any better. But the main reason for only 2 stars was the list of things they were out of... napkins (really!?!?), ketchup, half the soda selection, cheese for nachos. The list was longer but those 4 are main staples. This place needs to get it together or they will fail.
Great food, staff literally can't get an order 100% at any time... They used to use delivery services, bit shut it down because they were getting orders charged back too much.. I get it some people are fraudulent, but I can tell you at least 50% of the time I'm missing stuff or the order is completely wrong... Like ordering 20 chicken soft tacos for a party.... All showed up hard tacos... BEEF... Like at any point did someone look down and say "hey this is complete wrong" lol Food is amazing, but not worth the drive. Update 4.26 busy signal when calling for large meeting order. What ? Update. 8.27 Place is super busy, food taking 30 minutes to get out. This place could go OFF if they would staff properly and do after hour delivery’s. Sheesh, so much $$$$ left on the table.
Not the Naugles I remember, They were out of chicken tacos so I settled for beef, The beef was in a chili form like Tom's burgers, Just ok. The salsa was jelly like after they took it out if the fridge
The food's not bad, but this location is just disgusting. When I went here years ago, it was clean and good. Here, two young kids were taking orders, not washing their hands, then prepared food. For the 15 minutes I was there waiting for my to go order, I saw them sneeze numerous times without covering their mouth while prepping food. They would prep food, stop, touch their phones, then back to prepping food. One guy sneezed into his hands, was about to prep my food, then realized last minute he should wash his hands. He did...for 5 seconds. Another guy was playing with the tub of cheese while chit chatting with another employee. Basically like scooping it with his hand and tossing it around. I uploaded the video on Yelp and they had it removed. Since I can’t post videos on Google, I posted some screen shots. He tried to top my food with that nasty cheese and I stopped him. When he handed me my food, I saw his nails were black from all the dirt underneath. I literally tossed my food away cause I couldn't bring myself to eat it. If you go here, just keep an eye on the kitchen, you won't want to return. The location on Beach Blvd is much better than this nasty place. It's a shame cause I like their taco cups. edit: THEY HAD THE VIDEO REMOVED TO HIDE HOW GROSS THIS
Not what I remembered. We had been there about a year and a half ago. It was clean and kept up. We don't live in the area so we were in the area today and decided to go. Tables were sticky, not clean. No trays for dining in. Had to ask for ketchup. Napkins, hot sauce. The kitchen area that was visible did not look clean. The girl that took our order was very nice. Food wasn't so hot. We asked for chili fries they had no chili. The reason... " the pan heats it up to quickly it burns the chili" ummm.. get a new pan. Overall Not Again. We are going to try Stanton or Huntington Beach.
Well customer service is superb but you arent going out to a restaurant or food place for customer service. Food tasting quite bland maybe its fitted for people with lack of taste, ordered a steak and egg combo breakfast burrito asked specifically for steak and not ground beef, still got ground beef, paid extra for nothing. Im pretty sure i ordered a steak and egg burrito not a bean filled tortilla roll. Only came by because it was near work. mistakes happens
Sadly, it's not even close to the great food, service, quality and prices that it used to be. I came here with high hopes and a big appetite, but an okay taco, a lousy salty burrito, an expensive envelope of fries and a drink came to $14.+, so I won't be back. Trying to bring back the nostalgic baby boomer places like Naugles and Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor has not been working out very well.
The person taking your order and your cash, should not go directly back to making your food with no gloves! Taco shells were burned, this definitely does not taste anything like the old Naugles! Very nice staff but will never return!
Just not the same as it was back in the day sorry to say
