The salsa is the best! The food is good, though maybe a bit on the high end of price for this type of food. Edit 2023: still great. This location is far superior to the Olivette one to the north. The menus are different and this is the better one. Tasted great, great portions, habanero salsa is available, chips that aren't from a bag, unlike the Olivette location.
Always great options and always need a 'to go' box.
Since my last review i have to say the service is exceptional. My husband and i eat here about once a month and get the same thing. The only thing that was different this time was the portion size of rice, there was not much rice there, not worth telling the server, but i was just letting the restaurant know.UPDATE, my husband and i have been back since i wrote this review and the quantity issue was fixed. Thank you for listening to your customers. This is the only decent restaurant near us, so we try to come here once a month. You got 5 stars from me!!
Though we only had an assortment of appetizers, the food was delicious. The drinks were made perfectly where the tasted great but I could tell there was still a generous pour of the fun juice. The waitress we had kept up with the demands of our large group and was delightful to be served by.
We love the chicken flautas here! We like to come here on Sunday where kids eat free 😋 The chips and salsa are always deelish! We also experience fast and friendly service when we are here. Good work. Especially in 2023 where it's hard to staff larger restaurants 👍
Best Mexican in St. Louis by far and has been for over 25 years. Or should I say best Fresh Mex? Only complaint is I wish they still has as many locations as they used to. Best chips and salsa around too! Tip……. Ask for the spicy salsa as well.
This was my 1st trip to Chevy's and it was amazing! Atmosphere was awesome, and the food and drinks were delectable. I got the Shrimp Tostada salad...you gotta try it! Skirt Steak Tacos were fire! Also the salsa is the best I've ever had. Lemonade Paloma is a delightful, refreshing summer drink and our server was top notch!!
We just stop by for dessert, your wonderful ooey gooey chewy sundae. Debbie was great in fact she made our sundaes herself and it was too pretty to eat but of course we did eat it. Curtis kept checking on us and we told him about the great service we received. We will be back for more dessert and good food!
Eat here often and the food is always great! Service is fast and friendly. Restaurant has always been clean. Love the chips and salsa!
This is a chain restaurant, but the food never disappoints. The portions are good size and very tasty. I have been to several of their locations and am always pleased with my meal.
Great food, great service, great experience! Couldn't be happier with our visit. Food was prepared fresh, and the service was quick. Perfect place for any event. Will definitely be coming back! Thanks for everything guys!
I showed up this evening to have dinner with my mother and my boss. It took forever to get seated and I felt like I was ignored for a while then Curtis the manager came and said, are you guys doing OK tonight we explain the situation he bend over backwards to make everything right it was excellent service. The food ended up being great and we are so thankful for Curtis. He was so polite. Thank you Curtis.
First time eating here. My husband, daughter and grandson. We absolutely loved it. My 2 year old grandson loved the chips and salsa. I had the pick two and got the cheese enchilada and tamale. We wished we didn’t live over 4 hrs away because we would eat there at least once a week. Believe me you won’t be disappointed. Excellent customer service and the restaurant was super clean.
Love coming to Chevys for the consistently great food and service! The flautas are my favorite and do not compare to any other Mexican restaurant! Staff always friendly and eager to make your meal the best whether you are picking it up or dining in.
Tracy made the experience great, she was very attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty, over all great experience will definitely be bringing the family back and recommending to friends
Voted FEH Elite DIning award. From Hilda and Kayla greeting you at door: Luce delivering the delicious chips and salsa with lightning speed and a smile..and making sure we don't run out of either: Maria greeting us with a smile and knowing what we order and thanking us for dining at Chevys: Anna, Roberto, Jose, Big Mike, Sandy, Mone, Z, and Zay stopping by to say Hi.: Loi making the delicious tortillos: the cooks making the great fajitas s and perfect flan.......all add up to making it a great dining experience. These are the reasons we drive from St Charles to dine here 3 times a week!!
We always request Tracy. She’s a wonderful waitress and this is the original Chevy‘s fresh mex. It is fantastic food and service.
The last time I went to chevy's probably fifteen years ago, and it was awfully. Alright, it's hungry today and in south county and I tried chevy's again.Oh my goodness. This location has the best service. The best foodThe best everything I can't believe how good it is.
We lost our Chevys in Bloomington, IL several years ago! We came to see a show and I had to show my boyfriend why I love Chevys! We had the chicken flautas. They are so so so good and they taste exactly the same as they did in my town years ago. The house made chips are great and my boyfriend loved the salsa! I'm not a huge salsa person but theirs might be the best. That jalepeño jelly on the flautas... I am as impressed as I have always been.
I was so surprised by the quality of the service - genuinely some of the best service I’ve had since before the pandemic. The hosts were very welcoming and our server, Dee, was so bubbly and helpful! The food at Chevy’s is always tasty, but the service really put them above and beyond today.
I've been here twice in the past 2 weeks and service and food both times were great. Best fajitas around. Margaritas nice and strong. Rodrigo gave excellent service. Will be back.
I went to chevy's to celebrate Valentine's Day; the new strawberry dessert was delicious.
It’s Chevys and it’s delicious! They have the best salsa in the entire city. I’m willing to debate that. Another unknown fact is that they also have amazing ribs. I’m talking fall off the bone, tender and juicy ribs that melt in your mouth. Weird right? On this visit I got a chimichanga and it was as tasty as expected. I’ll always go back for more!
On 0429/25 we had a big group and we had the best service! Luis Amaya was excellent the food was amazing, everything was correct and our drinks stayed filled. Highly recommend coming here and getting Luis as your server! 10/10 recommend!
We always love coming to Chevy's! Their salsa is to die for and the vampiros tacos never disappoint! Larissa was our waitress at our most recent visit and her service was excellent! Highly recommend
The flautas were perfectly cooked, soft on the inside and they didn't crumble when you bite them like others I've had. The hand rolled tamales were amazing. I will be coming back!!
Excellent food, good chips, great salsa, my favorite Mexican restaurant.
Love this place, wish they were still in St Charles County but anytime we are close we stop in. Just let another great dinner. It was quite and clean. Love chips and salsa and the jalapeno jelly, hubby loves the fajitas. Our services was great!
camila was very nice server, she made a joke that almost sent me to a hospital. Great humor. 10/10
Always have good food, good service, and typically not much of a wait time!
Louis was an amazing server. He was very good at anticipating our needs. Did I mention Louis was amazing? lol Steak fajitas cooked perfectly. Flan was just right. Took my granddaughter and she said "this is the best food ever!"
Amazing place and they treated the large party I was in very well. The food was fast and warm! I loved how well the restaurant handled a big party!
We miss our Chevys where we live, and it was nice to remember the salsa and other flavors that still have that distinct Chevys taste.
I grew up going to chevys and was sad to see so many of them close throughout the years. Glad that there are still some around. My wife and I came here and the food is as good as we remember. Can't wait to go back again.
I had the flautas and a side of sweet corn tomalito for lunch. Both were delicious! The kitchen was pretty fast since it wasn't busy, and my server Caitlin was super nice and helpful with my questions. I was on a time crunch and this was the perfect spot!
Great tex mex and service. They have a good variety of dishes and the food has good flavor. Service is amazing, and the vibe is on point. It can get a bit loud if the place is crowded and the margaritas are flowing. Which brings me to the next point, good margaritas, so I definitely recommend!
Food was amazing, chorizo fondue was awesome, the flank steak and shrimp was perfectly cooked and was delicious. Service was amazing, Jamari and Tara we spot on with everything. The manager Spencer is doing an amazing job running this restaurant everything was perfectly prepared and the staff reflects his positive attitude and friendly personality. 10/10. Next time I am in St. Louis, Chevy's will be my first stop.
AMAZING FOOD!!! You can taste the freshness! Fast service (webhad our food within 15 minutes of ordering) our waitress was very attentive and accommodating. My new favorite place! CLEAN!!
Our family has been coming to this location for many years. We always enjoy the food service there is something for everyone. All of our food came out looking and tasting delicious. We highly recommend this chevys location for a simple date night or a large family gathering they have you covered.
The chipotle is the salsa is perfection! Huge bowl of creamy queso with warm crisp chips start the meal off right. Ground beef and carnitas tacos in crisp shells that never got soggy. The flan. Stop everything if you like flan or custard and go get a flan from Chevys. It wiggles and jiggles and dances in the bowl seductively. So smooth and creamy, I might skip dinner and just eat two flan next time! It is quite loud inside and hard to hear your server or friends.
5 stars plus a heart for the tortilla soup! I lived in Mexico for three years and discovered my favorite tortilla soup there 20 years ago. Chevys topped it today. The waiter informs us that is it made fresh every day. It has plenty of chicken and avocado chunks, just the right crunch on the tortilla strips and perfect flavoring with just the right amount of heat on the broth. I added a cup to my meal and wished I had the ordered the bowl!
We went to Chevys this evening for happy hour. Everything was very nice. We were going to order another round and more food but it was just pass six pm...Website stated happy hour from 3-9pm/---N…
Consistent quality and delicious food. Great happy hour deals as well. By far my favorite salsa! We sometimes just stop by for only margaritas with chips and salsa. Yum!
Always love going Chevy's. Consistent in food quality, service, and pricing! Female bartender at Tesson Ferry location always so nice and attentive. margarita, chips & salsa, and Flautas are a must!
Food is always out quickly and tastes fresh. Service is quick and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Their happy hour and daily drink specials are great too!

I'm so picky when it comes to fresh Mex and this place is the bomb have dined here several times and never sent anything back. Servers are outstanding atmosphere is outstanding one of our favorite …
Decent first visit. Service was fine. Combo appetizer plate is a very good option to try. You could share it with 4 people, but we shared it with 2 people. Good wings, nachos and quesadillas. Will return this summer when we can sit outside.
I LOVE GOING HERE. Reasonable price, and food is delicious! The workers are mostly Spanish so they have a hard time comprehending what we say and sometimes it messes up our meal a little. I would like both Spanish and English speaker employees just to make it helpful to those who speak one or the other! In other words, beautiful, clean, and a great place!
We went for dinner on a Friday night at 6:45. There was a wait for a table and that was fine. We were sat around 7. Our service was very slow. We waited over 5 minutes just to have our drink order taken. The bar was backed up so it took a while to get our drinks but we had waters brought while we waited. The drinks were good once we received them. We all had margaritas. The food was okay.
Server was great because he had a lot of tables and we had a table of eleven. Only one critique is I don’t like whole beans in my chimichanga, that ruined my meal unfortunately. The margarita was great , chips , salsa and queso good. Corn casserole is very good🙌🏻
The food was very good, I got a chimichonga-beef with beans and rice. The chips were delicious thin & crispy but the salsa was very plain didn't have much taste at all, so that was my only complaint. Oh I can't forget the Top Shelf Margarita it was very tasty.
We had a very nice server but she was extremely slow. I felt like it was fine dining pace. I had to go back in the kitchen and ask her to take care of the bill so we could finally go. I realized she was back there. Eating and that's what was taking so long. I understand people need to eat but the entire 2 hours we were there should have only taken about an hour. Most of it was spent waiting.
The food is always delicious, I think maybe the air conditioner was broken because it was extremely hot in there. Price was outrageously expensive!
It's my special needs son's favorite place! Unfortunately, he likes their beans, but also the tacos and chimichanga. Good Margaritas also.
The food and atmosphere was fine; no more or less than expected. Server AJ was great. If Google allowed, there would have been an extra star for the coffee alone. I must be one of the very few customers who ask for it; imagine my surprise when it comes and it's piping hot, strong, and has a bit of cinnamon in it. It was the best restaurant coffee I think I've ever had. It complemented the soft tacos perfectly. All in all, would definitely go back.
Stopped by Chevys on Tesson Ferry for an early dinner. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the visit enjoyable. The food was okay—not outstanding, but satisfying for a casual meal. Great spot if you're looking for a laid-back atmosphere and solid service.
Came here to try it vs the other (non-franchise) location and the menu is way smaller & salsa is different. The food still tastes good and service was great, just different from the other location. We got 3 bowls of salsa and each bowl tasted different and none tasted the same and all were really watery.
Chevys on Tesson Ferry Road is a nice-looking place, similar to other Chevys locations. The margaritas were excellent, and I had fajitas which smelled great and tasted good. While it wasn’t anything extraordinary, it was a solid meal. The drinks, especially the margaritas, are the standout here and a key reason to visit Chevys. The service was good, making the overall experience enjoyable.
The host was friendly and helpful. The waitress was fast, attentive, but not enough to be annoying. The food was hot, served fast, and pretty tasty. The restaurant was clean. Very clean. I'm not sure who is running it now, but it seems like a family. If they're not family, it's the impression we got... and that's a good thing.

We have been going to Chevys Fresh Mex since the early 90s. We have been patronizing the one at Tesson Ferry since the Crestwood Mall location closed. I've always loved their food especially their …
Food and atmosphere were milquetoast corporate faire, I had no problem eating my tacos (but the flavors certainly didn't push any boundaries), no objection to the atmosphere (until I looked closer at it and started to intellectually criticize particulars); on the surface, the atmosphere evoke the desired mood, and the food delivers what it promises, so no one needs to look further. No major objections recorded from anyone. My only objection was our server, who was remarkably cold and inattentive, and I think that is specifically a criticism of that server, not the restaurant. She got an 18% tip which is as low as I will go to make a point, and I can't stress enough how bad the service was to lead me to do that. She met the absolute bare minimums but she sure made us wait for them.
The food is ok, though some things are overly spicy that is not marked as being spicy. Carnitas tamales are spicy and the flautas are spicy as well. Extremely disappointed that they will not accept the Chevy's rewards even though this location honored my birthday reward a year ago. I highly doubt that they went from corporate to franchise in a year. Next time I'll think twice about coming here because of this.
It was an good place for lunch. It wasn't the same as I remember from the west coast, but the website does tell you it's a private franchise and stuff could vary by location. The food was good, service was great! The menu isn't very big, but sometimes it's a good thing because it is easier to make your choices. We did love the chips and salsa; sweet and refreshing not hot at all.
I used to love Chevy's, but it's like they don't even care anymore. Our server was terrific, and if it weren't for him, it would have been a totally bad experience! We ordered the mixed Fajitas. They had no taste whatsoever. The steak was way overdone, the chicken dry and tasteless, the carnitas was weird, not like any carnitas I've ever had. I will say that the shrimp were good. Even the homemade tortillas, which I usually love, were tasteless. The onions and peppers were just a mashed concoction. Their chips and salsa are always good, but even their famous salsa was super thick, you could eat it with a fork...but still tasty. I just feel like Chevy's will be next on the chain restaurant chopping block! I don't have one near me, so I'm usually excited when we're in an area where there is one. My husband emphatically said "I'm done with Chevy's, we're not coming back."
I placed a fajita family pack to go. It used to be $55 then it became $65. Today when I went to pick it up it was $75. I decided to check my order while there and it was missing some of my rice and all the corn cake. I asked I got but it was a tiny size of corn cake. The answer I got was "everything is so expensive." I need to order a pack for 15 people according to the man that came out of the kitchen in order to get the size I used to get just 2 months ago. I was in disbelief. It is what it is. I will not be back for a while . Feel bad for the owners because it is their business and they have lost a 20 plus years customer. Customer service non existing at chevys today! I didn't like their attitude and felt mocked.
Very tasty food. Good service. It's probably time for a deep clean. The floor was sticky which makes the atmosphere a little less than preferred. It's a decent spot for Mex! Ive always loved their chips/salsa. Food is consistently good. I've personally been numerous times before and will return.
Great service and the food was good for a chain. Located in a shopping center so typical Tex-Mex atmosphere.

The wife and I went for lunch midweek. Practically nobody in the place. The waitress was slow but she may have been the only one on duty. Food consists of Mexican dishes but were a bit ordinary.…
They are not friendly they act like they don’t understand, Dirty from the silverware to the menus it all around disgusting. I asked for jalapeños I got them at the end of my meal. Table cloth was sticky and we actually seen a couple get up and leave the restaurant while we was waiting for our food. I used to love this place back in the 90s WHAT HAPPENED. We did come at 11am and think we got last nights leftovers.
The service was very good when I visited Chevy's but unfortunately the food was very bland with no real flavor. I ordered the pick 3 with three enchiladas and the chicken and the overall flavor of the meal was like they used zero seasonings. It was shockingly plain and flavorless. I used to like Chevy's many many years ago but I don't think I'll be returning due to the bland tasteless food. Plus, the price was pretty expensive for 3 enchiladas and some rice for $18.
Ordered carry out here a couple times which was good but the last dine in experience was not. Ordered guacamole and instead of the table side preparation, received premade gross version that had olives in it and tasted like vinegar, as well. Nothing like guacamole from prior visits. The chicken fajitas were decent but the cast iron tray smelled and had the faint taste of some sort of seafood. Felt fine before eating here, afterward was so dizzy it was difficult to walk (and I had no alcohol beverages with dinner), and still feel ill a day after.
I had a bad experience here. The server was blatantly rude. I asked the server which item was better, the one with the chicken or the one with the steak. His response was whichever one you like. I asked him what type of sauce was on an item and he said I don't know they make it in the back, dismissive and rude. To me, the tacos were not very good, the sauce tasted funny, and the meat was not to temperature. This restaurant seemed like Doom and gloom not somewhere I would really want to return. It's sad because I took a family member out that I don't get to see very often and I wanted him to have a good time and it seemed to put a damper on the whole thing.
Just had the weirdest experience while ordering food and drinks at the bar. I heard shouting behind me and turned and the server was YELLING at this couple for taking their happy hour food to go. They had ordered too much and asked for boxes. I heard them ask why it mattered and he started screaming over them saying this is happy hour prices they can’t just take it home. They looked scared and so was I especially when I needed a box from my bartender who luckily assured me he would not be yelling at me. It was so weird and when I looked for management I noticed them watching the server continue to berate the customer and do nothing. Won’t be back simply out of fear of a normal action like taking leftovers home being taken as a huge travesty. This guy was screaming at them saying they shouldn’t come back and this was his business and if they need to sit at HH the need to eat their food, it was truly crazy and I can’t believe it was allowed.
Haven't been to Chevys for decades. I won't be back to a business stuck in time. Food was decent for the 80s, now it's beyond tired and service was one of the worst. Street tacos were sloppy, falling apart, basic flavor. Chips and salsa: salsa bland no heat at all. Chips were old, unsalted, undercooked. Smothered Burritos was bland. Rice old, guacamole brown, beans old, but the corn cake was so old it refused to be chewed. Spoke with the manager Bob. Explained the situation. Didn't introduce himself or apologize. Curious if at least good management practices will ensue. Disgusting. Avoid.

We sat down waited 25 minutes for drinks to come out one at a time. Dinner was good. Waited another 45 minutes for check. Disappointing service. Hostess and manager seemed drunk and unaware of us asking for check. Not busy. Very disappointing
The tablecloth was sticky the steak was so tough my knife couldn’t cut it the cheese was shredded cheese from the grocery store and the gave us a beer we didn’t order
Not sure how this place is still I'm buisness. Utter chaos if you go in the prime time. Their food is not what it used to be and super overpriced. They are only hanging on by their reputation. I would recommend going to el maguey in concord for a much better experience.
The burger was supposed to be cooked medium and was burnt to a crisp. Barely edible loaded with salt. They apparently didn't dry the lettuce before they put it on the sandwich so it was dripping water out of it. The fries were soggy and we're just regular fries not what it said online. The ribs were burnt to a crisp barely edible. The sauce on the ribs tasted like it was made from salt and ketchup. Didn't come with any jalapeno jelly. Didn't get any of the sauces advertised on the menu. I mean it was just God awful. Spent well over $30 on this food and threw most of it away. 0 stars
Terrible! Service was not good but waitress did explain she was new so we still left a tip and we were patient with her. The food was terrible my meat was raw and they forgot to add a side to the dish that came out when we were about to pay. Not going back
The food was awful. I always loved Chevy's, but this is enough to keep me out of there for good. The salsa was amazing as always, the Margherita was tasty, but not $11 tasty for a regular size drink. My tortilla soup required a ton of salt to give it any taste at all. The chili rellino was soggy. The rice was tasteless. This meal cost me $36. Not worth it at all. Not worth $5. My daughter's chicken was so dried out I could see it from across the table. She ate less than half of her meal and declined to take it home with her. When I told the server my daughter was not eating her meal because she did not like it, she just acted like it didn't happen. I didn't bother to mention how bad mine was. The only thing my daughter liked was the fried ice cream. It was the only thing she ate. Her meal cost her $26. I don't know what happened to this place. We used to make special trips up from where we live just to go here. We won't be doing that anymore. Gross
The carnitas were so salty they were inedible. The nachos came without what the menu said came on them. They had no jalapeños in restraunt. This was not Tex or Mex. Least of all fresh!
Combo nachos were ice cold and bland. The steak was like trying to chew leather. I ordered a large bowl of the fire roasted salsa which does not come with chips. I asked for a bag of chips to go with, and I was given less than a quarter of a bag of stale chips that was mostly crumbs. Taco Bell is better than this. Don't waste your time with this restaurant!
After my check was finished I was charged $53.90 for my meal with a tip. An hour and a half later someone tried to run my card for $36 and it was declined because ccv was wrong. I saw the server type my card in as I was sitting right next to her stand. The manager told me when I called that she has worked there 3 years and would not commit fraud. Well someone tried to steal $36 from me after my transaction and he cannot explain that. He wants to argue with me and say it couldn't have happened. You lost a loyal customer today. I offered to come and let them see this but he wanted to argue. This did happen and I have no reason to say otherwise. What would I get out of it? I wasted my time, called my bank to ensure no charges would go thru, and will not trust future servers who take my card to pay. Update to chevys response....As a minority myself I find it amusing you would even throw the minority word out there. Wow, this is about your server trying to steal not anything else.
This place is getting from bad to worse. Don't waste your time and hard earned money. The server messed up our order twice. Had to watch my wife and kids eat while I was waiting for my plate and my wife salad had wrong dressing on it and extra dressing if that was not enough, my Chimi was beef but got chicken with no rice or beans sounds like they ran out of food.I should have gone to a Mexican restaurant instead of this place.
