This restaurant had great service! The staff were so friendly and helped me decide what to order. The atmosphere was nice and the food choice was excellent. Will definitely come again
Very nice ambience and the host are extremely nice and the food was delicious
Perfection! Great atmosphere. Reasonable prices. A full bar, with unique cocktails and craft beers. A right-sized one-page menu with enough choices, but not too many. Every plate delivered on time as the previous one was done. Presentation of the food was exceptional. Everything delicious. Variations on Northern Indian, middle-eastern and American standard dishes. Come hungry and share everything with a friend.
Tonight we ate at Tigerlily for the second time. We walked in very early on a Saturday night and promised to be out of there in about 30 minutes if they'd seat us without a reservation. They agreed courteously and never gave us the feeling that we should hurry. More importantly, the two starters I had in place of an entree (glazed brussel sprouts and the paneer-beet-tomato salad) were extraordinarily good and my husband's whole Tandoori fish was excellent. Highly recommend.
We had cocktails and appetizers on the happy hour menu. The drinks were very interesting and delicious, and we really enjoyed the veggie samosas and onion rings
The staff was kind enough to keep the restaurant open for all of us even during Sunday at an MIT event. Alaka & Atul both were amazing hosts. Couldn't have had a better time with such amazing people.
We’re lucky because this is the only neighborhood bar/restaurant in which to get a drink, but it’s also wonderful! It has a great cocktail menu and a bar for sitting outside and watching the weirdos go by. The Indian food is fresh and delicious, from the extensive appetizers to full meals!
One of my favorite places in Berkeley. Amazing drinks, delicious apps, lovely owners.
Visiting from out of town, and was looking for a nice spot to dine with my partner, who is taking classes at Berkeley. I had previously ordered her takeout from Tigerlily via a delivery service and loved the menu. Our dine-in experience was outstanding. The environment is great, our service was great, and the food was the best I’ve had yet in the Berkeley area. We had the veggie samosas (which were so good we followed up with a samosa chile order), and also shared a chicken vindaloo and palak paneer. Portions were great. Flavors in all sauces and spices were outstanding and complimentary. The samosas were perfection. We also ordered cocktails that were delicious. Would recommend to anyone dining in the Bay Area
Loved this place 🧡💛🤍- the cocktails & the food were amazing! Lorenzo was my bartender/ server and he was awesome :) I had both the Indigo vibes and East of Infinity cocktails, and both were🔥! I had the veggie Samosa & that was good but I want to come back to try their chickpea samosa too. The star of the night was their chicken tikka masala - SOOO GOOD🤤🤤🔥🔥! Literally out of this world for me ✨ lol I haven’t had good tikka masala like that in so long! I got extra garlic naan with it to go, it was that good 🙌🏼. The garlic naan was also really good🤤! I wish it was a little crispy on the bottom, but the flavor was still delish & on point so I can’t complain. Owners seem really sweet & the place is cozy & aesthetically pleasing. I will be back for sure :)🫶🏼
the chicken tikka masala with rice and garlic naan was fantastic. their tigerlily drink was so good, as well as their espresso martini.
This spot has such a vibe ¨̮ this intimate Indian restaurant serves quail its food, delicious cocktails (do yourself a favor and order the East of Infinity!) and offer a decent happy hour. Order your meal to go (make sure you tip!!) and eat out back where there is a lovely patio open to the public ¨̮
The sweetest couple, Atul & Alka treated us like family the day we wandered into Tigerlily. Alka went above and beyond to create the perfect espressos martinis for us and even ordered the Mr. Black liqueur that we liked knowing we were coming back in the following day. Atul, the husband was so friendly and warm towards us and we could tell their staff was treated well too. Lorenzo, the bartender was just as fun and friendly as the owners. Now onto the food…Wow!! My boyfriend and I fell in love with the couple of items we ordered. The meatballs and the chicken tikka masala were both absolutely delicious!! Also, the previous day we ordered the veggie samosas and I think it was the most delicious thing I’ve ever tasted. Sadly, we had prior dinner plans down the street otherwise we would have stayed for a full meal. We also tried the Hibiscus Me and the East of Infinity cocktails and both were amazing! We live in Napa but are excited to make the drive back to explore the entire menu and share more conversation with the amazing owners and staff. Thank you Atul & Alka!!
We were super hungry and looking for a good place to eat. Happened to find Tiger Lily And decided to give it a try. What a good decision! Chicken mint kabobs, chicken Tikka masala were fantastic! Good size portions, comes with naan and basmati rice. Not spicy. Chicken Tikka nachos were pretty good too. Good selection of beer, wine, cocktails although they should stock a few more Indian beers. Overall excellent dinner though a bit pricey.
An impressive array of vegan options (3.5/5 Green Stars) Tigerlily opened in 2015 with Chef Joel Lamica (former chef of the Ramen Shop in Rockridge) running the kitchen, but has new management since 2019. I’ve been twice – once in the good old pre-lockdown days, before the management changed, and then a couple of months ago. And I have to say, I really enjoyed the food both times. Congrats to the new management for maintaining standards. They could do a better job at providing more info on their website, though. The original team favored organic ingredients but that’s not clear anymore. They do serve a lot of vegan dishes, so thumbs up for that. We had two of my standard Indian dishes – veggie samosas and veggie korma. Tigerlily’s versions of these two were possibly the best (samosa) or among the best (korma) that I’ve ever had. This is significant, given that I’ve had many samosas and kormas in my time. The veggie korma ($21.50) includes rice and garlic naan and has a good balance of spice, heat, creaminess, and tasty veggies. The veggie samosas (delicious pastry, not greasy, very filling) are normally $10 but note that both korma and samosas are on the happy hour menu, so avail of that if you can (4:30 to 5:30 every day). We also had the Sesame Avocado Flatbread ($13.50), made with fennel seed, turmeric, sprouts, parmesan & chili oil. Staff members were very friendly and I highly recommend trying it out during happy hour while it’s not too busy. I’m giving Tigerlily 3.5 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons: • Even though there are several meat dishes, I was impressed by how much of the menu is not just vegetarian but vegan. Adopting a plant-based diet is the top thing you can do to mitigate climate change and deforestation, besides avoiding animal cruelty and the negative impact of the meat industry on society. • Of course, your own footprint will depend on what you order, from vegan dishes at one end of the scale and lamb dishes at the other end. Like beef, lamb has one of the highest carbon footprints of our food options. • If Tigerlily wanted to step up and improve on its social and environmental impact then switching from lamb to a vegan substitute would be the most effective steps. • More information on food sourcing should be provided. • Local beer is available on draft, mitigating packaging and transportation impacts.
There are very few Indian restaurants I will dine at, but I seem to keep coming back to Tigerlily. Their food is outstanding and their drinks are super delicious! The dishes are quite big and I always leave with enough leftovers for the next day. Definitely try their fried chicken dish and their chicken or paneer tikka dish.
Can't believe I didn't discover this place sooner! Been living in Berkeley for over a year and stopped by tonight for the first time. Had the most delectable samosas - what an explosion of flavor. The sauces were divine. And the cucumber cocktail had the perfect balance of sweet & spice. What a gem of a spot!!
Amazing food. Cilantro garlic naan is amazing and one of the best we’ve had. Good service and we will definitely come back to try more
Delicious food and drinks. We got awesome service from Issac. The eggs ♥️

This place is cool with indoor and outdoor seating. Indian food with an American twist was tasty. The citrus glazed brussel sprouts were a great starter. Also can stop by and sit at the bar for drinks.
We have been coming to this spot for many years now! Atul and Alka are wonderful and always provide great service. The food is amazing and never disappoints. The ambiance is great and the drinks are always delicious. We highly recommend Tigerlily!
We had a reservation for 4 tonight. Atul, the owner, made sure our $40 credit (from having had to reschedule an earlier reservation) was honored. He and his wife (I think?) were wonderful hosts. Friendly with a sense of humor. The food was GREAT. We had a variety of starters and main dishes. We also had the punch bowl! Atul's wife warned us against ordering 2 desserts--because of the size of one of the ones we ordered--very sweet of her. All in all, a great experience. We'd recommend it. And we're planning on going again.
This is true: I have never written a Yelp review before. But the drinks and food are just so good and unique here at Tigerlilly that I have to share. I've been many times, especially during football and basketball seasons because the games play above the bar. (Don't worry if you're not a sports fan, there are many tables that are game-free.) For instance, baseballs's not my game but my boyfriend and I came tonight, sat in the back, and had the most wonderful meal. We started with their inventive cocktails, then shared Tuna Tartare, Sesame Avocado Fry Bread (don't get scared by the word fry, it's light and worth it), and Tandoori Fish (Golden Pompano whole fish marinated in Indian spices, cooked in clay oven, served with cilantro/mint rice). The dinner reminded me of the best meal I had in India last year, drifting in a riverboat in Kerala. Not overly fancy, but unique and fresh and delicious. I love this restaurant. Besides the great food, the owners are friendly, the vibe is casual, and the bartenders know what they're doing. If you're looking for unique Southern Indian food I highly recommend Tigerlilly.
We love Tigerlily. An adorable Indian couple host/own and they are warm, attentive, and kind. We always get the fried chicken with turmeric mashed potatoes which is amazing. The sauce is tasty, chicken is crispy yet juicy and the potatoes make me want to lick my plate. We also like the sesame lamb chops which again great seasoning, tender, on a bed of rice. It takes a few minutes to fire them so expect a short wait. Naan is excellent. Drinks solid. Interesting Indian American fusion. Expect to pay a bit more but we are happy with the lovely service which is a family owned feel and wonderful flavors. Will be returning!

Tiger Lily is pretty good. When it started it was pretty good. It went through a period where the cleanliness slipped a lot, and I was almost on the verge of not going there anymore. But it seems like somebody has figured out that they need a bit more attention to detail. The last two times I've been there it is acceptably clean again. The food is still good.
The food is great, but there is a large lack of staff. Only two people were waiting tables. They were nice, but they needed to take a bit of time to come to us after serving other tables. Their menu is small, but the chicken and waffle was amazing. Highly recommend getting that, especially for a brunch meal.
This place is well worth visiting. It has an intimate romantic atmosphere and a fun and inventive menu. The cocktails are amazing and they also have a really great happy hour. It has been a long time since I have been wowed by a curry dish but they certainly pulled it off. A treasure in Berkeley worth checking out. The only reason I am not giving it 5 starts is because the service wash a little slow and not as welcoming as the environment calls for. That being said don't hesitate to check this spot out.
The ribs from the happy hour menu were good. Don't expect a big portion from the happy hour menu. Cocktails were also decent, could be a bit stronger. Happy hour is now from 5-6 pm. Unfortunately the lamb is not available for happy hour anymore, even though it is still listed on the happy hour menu outside.
This is a fantastic place with fantastic drinks. We came here early for dinner and they were able to seat us before our reservation. Ordered up a Michael's Pollen to start and it turned out to be very, very tasty. I followed that with Green Thumb to go with dinner and that turned out to be a tad too smoky. The beet salad we was good but nothing special. The hummus two-way was delicious but a tad bit on the salty side (squid ink hummus is the better half). However, the main deal - fried chicken tikka masala did not disappoint! So loaded with flavor with the chicken so tender. Only disappointment was there wasn't more of it. Now I have to do a return trip during brunch hours to try their waffles.
Lamb Curry and vegetable samoza were very good. Chicken Ticka Masala and beet salad were good. Palak Paneer was only fair. The ratio of meat to sauce in the LC and CTM was too small. Quantity of rice for each dish was a bit small. 4 of us ate all the above and were still a bit hungry. For the price, I'd say we should have been full. (105$ before tip) .
Food ranged from good to excellent, but the cocktails were the real star of the show. The drinks menu was extensive, and we enjoyed each one we tried (their namesake, the Tigerlily, was a standout). The fresh fruit is a decadent touch to the very flirty, very sweet cocktails. The fried chicken was exceptional, with an interesting take on mashed potatoes underneath — very hearty and filling. The coconut curry chicken was also excellent, though the naan was unusually thick and dry. We also had the beet salad, which was delicious except for the avocados — they were so unripe that I couldn’t cut them with my fork and knife. Not exactly sure how they ended up on a plate and served, but the service was somewhat spotty so we couldn’t send them back before our entrees arrived — not the end of the world, since the beets and paneer were still good. Overall, the food was good enough to warrant a return visit sometime, and the vibe was sophisticated (if not a bit sports-bar-y in the front). Great for a date night or a special catch-up with friends.
I had their Happy Hour and it was good! We ordered some drinks and samosas. Great service and good food!

The food was pretty good, and so were the drinks. What wasn’t good was being charged full price for our second round of drinks while it was still happy hour. The owners, who seemed nice enough, nevertheless appeared to micromanage the bartender, questioning her about why a drink was sent back (it was overly spicy). The female owner did take the time to explain why their tandoori chicken wasn’t red, which I appreciated. I wanted to come back here often, but based on the overcharge and the uncomfortable micromanaging vibe, I don’t think I will.

Been here a few times and while the food is decent (Samosas are very good), the other dishes we had were just average. Couldn't really tell much difference between the identically presented Tika Misala and the Coconut chicken dish, only that the coconut dish was even blander. Agree with other that prices are very high for the quantity and quality of food. Five small pieces of chicken in a dish for $26.50! Small platter instead filled with rice to look bigger I guess. Come on now. Maybe proximity to Chez Panisse has them thinking this is a golden block where prices and quantity don't matter. Get back to your roots. Diego the server was superb! Nicely decorated but a little loud for me. Agree that the modern decor doesn't make it feel Indian at all.
Ive been twice, probably won't go back for a third round. Mediocre cocktails. Food was inconsistent. Some plates were simply disappointing. More quality checking in the kitchen before things are served. Some plates are interesting. Definitely a place to try some creative fare.
What ever happened to this place? We used to love the food and drinks there, but the last couple times we went, the quality of food and cocktails diminished significantly. I think new management has taken over and the bartender and chef have left, such that the food and drinks are a replication of what it once was. We might give it one more shot if we feel the urge for Indian, but it's not on the top of my list any more. Addendum - have been giving TigerLily chances throughout the pandemic. Food is improved on some days, but the quality remains quite inconsistent (good some days and mediocre other days). I'd bump my rating to 3.5 stars if I could, but not a big enough improvement for 4 stars
The food was alright but considering the price I expected more. The flavor profiles were good but the execution fell short. Also had an extremely long wait time to be greeted and seated and the service was overall extremely slow. Ordered the lamb and eggs for brunch and the eggs were slightly underdone with runny egg whites and the lamb was overcooked and more than well done.

The atmosphere and service was good however the food was not something we liked. We ordered Malai Kofta, Paneer Tikka and Egg/Dhal Kofta. Malai Kofta was not right and instead it was Dhal kofta. I feel the food is not authentic to the Indian Spices and is just based creamy sauce. The other is the Gratuity. We were charged 18% Gratuity for family of 4. This was not a large group and this was highly unexpected and unfair. I don't mind giving a tip at all, but for a smaller group it should be left to the customers. Not sounding too negative, this is something I didn't personally like.
Tigerlily fell short for us. Came out for date night and were seated extremely close to another couple in a semi empty restaurant. The decor has an Italian restaurant vibe to it despite being a fusion Indian restaurant. The food was very heavy, my kale came out with a slice of butter on top which I accidentally ate whole. Vegetable pakora was good, though they slathered chutney on top, would have been nice for it be on the side. Service was good in the beginning, but once we got our food it was difficult to catch their attention to leave.
Was very excited to try this place. On the plus side, most of the items we ordered were quite nice. I suggest the samosas and meatballs, along with an Irish iced tea. Unfortunately, my date did not get so lucky with her order of grilled shrimp. Her entree arrived more than 20 minutes after mine, and was burnt, underseasoned, and bland. The waiter was apologetic and blamed a screw up in the kitchen. Prior to this, we were having a pretty great meal, so it was sad to see it end this way. At $29 dollars for four shrimp with rice and veggies, i was expecting a lot more. We were actually wondering if a sauce of some kind was completely forgotten, given the blandness of the dish. I'm not sure if we will be back. The drastic difference in quality of our meals makes me hesitant.
I'm sure it's a matter of personal preference, but I didn't like the food. The korma, the chole samosa, and the three chutneys (which come with the naan) - the parts of the meal that should have flavor - tasted uniformly bad. Not "bad for the price range" - though, to be honest, the prices are a bit discouraging - just bad for any price range, it's food I wouldn't eat unless I had to. The naan itself was fluffy and fresh though, and the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts were good. Also, the vibe is nice.
I was here years ago and remember a decent food experience. However, today it was so bad that I will not be returning. The two of us ordered 1) Chicken Tikka Masala ($24.50), 2) Tandoor Fish ($26.5), 3) Beet salad ($16.00), 4) two mint teas. The beet salad was acceptable. The Tandoor Fish looked sizeable enough, but had very little meat on it, and had no tandoor flavor, so overall a disappointment in taste and in serving two people a reasonable amount. But the REAL disappointment was the chicken: at $24.50, I was utterly shocked when it came out and had but SIX tiny pieces (around 0.8" cubes each), along with half a garlic naan and some seasoned rice. I figured this was a mistake so asked the server about the amount of chicken, but she assured me this was correct "because the sauce was heavy". I was stunned but let it go. At the end of the meal, I told them I was very disappointed in the amount of chicken, and that the fish hadn't been very tasty and that I would not be returning. She again defended the amount of chicken but offered me some to take home, which I declined (the offer too late, and never agreeing that $24.50 for that tiny amount of chicken was insanity). She then proceeded to remove the two teas from the bill. I know it's hard to run a restaurant, prices are going up for everyone, but this was the most expensive chicken I've ever had at more than $4 per tiny cube! The bill came to $100 including an %18 tip, and all I had were 3 tiny pieces of standard tikka masala chicken, a meager amount of mediocre fish, and a lot of garlic naan (this was tasty, but I try to be low carb...), and that was with the tea thrown in for free!
No wait like other restaurants. Nice atmosphere and good service. The food however is lackluster. Very lackluster.
