The food is DELICIOUS! I stopped by for lunch with friends while visiting from another state and all I can say is YUM! I had a Mango Lassi, Garlic Naan and the Methi Chicken. Just the right amount of heat (and they can go hotter if you ask) and the chicken in the Methi I could cut with my spoon. Our friends had the Butter Chicken, A spinach dish and everyone loved their items. Generous portions, wonderful staff and atmosphere and I walked out of there stuffed and happy. Highly recommend!
20 years of greatness! It was great to return to a familiar place with the same taste!
Best Naan! We had the Chicken Tikki Masala and Chicken Karahai, and both were SO delicious! Meat was very tender.
Don’t overlook this phenomenal local Indian Restaurant off Lorna Road. While the strip mall location and dated decor may challenge first impressions, don’t be deterred as well seasoned Owner “KK” and his entire staff provide a wonderful dining experience featuring elegant Indian cuisine created by the best Indian chef in the state of Alabama. While we have enjoyed every visit here over the past several years, we are particularly fond of their Masala Dosa, as well as the mid week dinner special featuring a choice of appetizers, several entrees, naan, and a bottle of wine for around $50 making it one of the best deals in town for high quality cuisine served in a humble and authentic atmosphere with 5 star customer service. Highly recommend this place!
Went for a work Holiday party with about 12 people. Everything was perfect. Had Chicken Saag for the first time. It was excellent! I also had a little of everyone else's, too. All delicious. The service and hospitality was impeccable. Our server (Patty) I think was so attentive to our party. The owner also did some close up magic for us...no kidding...and timed perfectly with our meal and party. This is a place with love and respect for its community. Great experience!
I've been to the fanciest of Michelin star restaurants and traveled quite a bit, Silver Coin is special. The owners care, the staff cares and the vibe is very comfortable and easy. The food is very good. I'm here regularly and plan to continue. Thank you all for your hospitality !!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely delicious! First time here, and the place came highly recommended — it did not disappoint! I had the tandoori shrimp, samosa, okra, and garlic naan — everything was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. Others at the table tried different dishes, and every plate was amazing! I also tried Kingfisher Indian beer for the first time — great pairing! Wonderful food, kind people, and a welcoming atmosphere that truly feels like home.
15 plus years of going to this place, hands down the best place ever. Consistent, great quality and such a positive vibe. Unmatched, hands down the best Indian food with excellent customer service. Owners always take personal interest even after so many years.
I really enjoyed the food. There is a vast selection, but the server was friendly and willing to suggest items according to what I typically enjoy to eat. The decor was fun and interesting. My only complaint would be the size of the 4 top tables. They are rather small and it can be difficult to have a bunch of sharing plates and drinks. I recommend you give it a try, the food is authentic and reasonably priced.
Great service, delicious Indian food at an affordable price. We tried the Onion Spinach Pakoras and the Vegetable Samosas as an appetizer. The tamarind chutney complimented the pakoras. The crust of the Samosas was flaky and crispy. For entrees, we tried the Fish Tikka tandoori served on a sizzling platter. The basmati rice was nicely seasoned with the fragrant cardamom seed. The Naan was served hot and buttery.
The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was great! This time, we stepped out of our usual choices and tried something new. As regulars, we’ve always had great experiences, but our service wasn’t as good as it has been in the past. We’ll definitely be back and hope for better service next time!
I recently visited Silver Coin Indian Grill and was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The ambience is vibrant yet cozy, making it a great place for both casual dining and special occasions. The decor is tastefully done, creating an inviting atmosphere. I had the chance to try some of their newly launched dishes, and I must say, The Hakka noodles were perfectly seasoned with the right amount of spice and crunch. The Mandi, a traditional Arabian dish, was cooked to perfection with tender meat and flavorful rice. But the highlight for me was the Fish Pomfret—fresh, succulent, and bursting with flavors that took me on a culinary journey. The staff was courteous and attentive, making sure that we had a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend Silver Coin Indian Grill for anyone looking to enjoy authentic and innovative dishes in a welcoming environment. Looking forward to my next visit!
I've tried various Indian restaurants in Birmingham, but Silver Coin stands out with its exceptional taste and consistent quality. Unlike other Indian restaurants in the area, which often vary in flavor, Silver Coin consistently delivers the same delicious experience every time I visit. I highly recommend Silver Coin Indian Grill for the best Indian food in Birmingham, Alabama.
Just had the most delicious Indian Maharaja thali! The combination of tender chicken and perfectly spiced rice was pure perfection. The flavors were rich, fragrant, and absolutely satisfying. Definitely worth a try if you're into flavorful, hearty meals!♥️♥️ #highly recommend! Thanks again silver coin for delicious maharaja thali ♥️
I went last Saturday to get Indian groceries, and I found this restaurant just beside the jubilee store. It was my first time to dine in there. I love their decoration with full of Indian culture. My favorite part was the food and Ganesha idol. I want to recommend everyone to go and eat and see the examples of Indian cultures.
I really enjoy coming here. I love the quaint atmosphere. I ordered the Rogan Josh (Lamb) it didn’t have that extra “gamey” taste which is a bonus for me. I do feel there could have been a little more as I had roughly 3 chunks of lamb. However, my meal was less than $20 so at least it was affordable. Two sides were the garlic naan and rice. I love the atmosphere, and really feel like customer service is a priority.
We ordered the chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, and garlic naan. The naan and chicken tikka masala were good, but the chicken biryani unfortunately tasted a bit bitter and acrid. I sifted through the rice because some bites were delicious but others had that acrid aftertaste and I think that the pieces of whole clove and the crispy onions on top were the culprits. There were a lot of whole spices left in the rice that you need to make sure and pick out but the cloves are a little harder to find and they disintegrate into little fragments so it’s just unpleasant if you accidentally bite into a piece. And I don’t know if the onions were just fried too long or they just soaked up some of the acrid flavors from the dish but they had a pretty unpleasant taste as well. I really hope they read this and make an adjustment because other than that, it smelled incredible, it was so flavorful, and the chicken was juicy. I wanted to just dig in and keep eating but kept feeling that pungent aftertaste.
This place has really dropped in quality since 2020. It used to be fantastic but now it’s mid at best. Food if warm not hot when it comes to the table now, they also have seemed to change the recipe on a lot of things as well. The flavors are all off. It’s like they use the same “gravy” for everything so no matter what you get it kinda all taste the same.
I have had delicious lunch buffet and dinners here in the past. During my recent visit (after a long time), it was not the case. The food as well as the service was average at best. Tried meethi chicken and meethi paneer with garlic naan bread. The meethi paneer was good but the chicken was way far from good. Felt the quality and quantity has gone down recently, only thing that went up was the price. Btw, they have expanded the outdoor seating which is nice.
Food was pretty good. Not amazing like some Indian buffets I have been to before, but good quality for a buffet in general. My complaint is that I ordered chai tea and they brought me one tiny cup of it. After I asked for more they told me they charge for each refill, so it would have been $2.99 for every cup of tea. That is just ridiculous. My server was great, but when she told me that I immediately decided I wouldn’t return here if they need to charge for a tiny cup of tea. The interior of the restaurant is sort of dark and could use some updating. The bread was delicious and I really enjoyed desert option.
