If you’re looking for a place to dine with great food, amazing service and perfect ambiance, look no further! Village Tavern has it all! My husband, our young son, and myself had lunch here, and from beginning to end, everything was perfect! Our waiter, Courtney, went above and beyond to make sure our time there was well spent. The entire staff was very friendly and the restaurant atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing. The spring rolls appetizer was delicious and so were the chicken quesadillas. The sweet tea was also amazing! We will definitely be back!

MAN this food was soooo good! I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation tho. Even with one prepare to wait as when we want they were understaffed. One of the things I like most about this restaurant is their extensive cocktail menu. Not only that I’m pretty much every day of the week they have a different special for drinks. Everything here Is made from scratch. The mashed potatoes have a little lumps of actual potatoes and we’re infused with garlic and seasonings. The sautéed spinach was so flavorful. I’ve never had spinach like that in my life. It came in like a lemon butter, garlic sauce. And for my main course, I got the ribeye, which could not have been cooked better. I’ve gone to a lot of steakhouses, but this is by far the best steak I’ve had in Birmingham. It just melted in my mouth. A visit won’t be complete. If you don’t get a butter cake it was to die for. I will continue to frequent this place because of the service hospitality and amazing food. Thank you all so very much! Also, the house made eggrolls with the three sauces oh my gosh, why was it so good y’all are not playing with this food up in here this is so delicious.

Decided to try for lunch based on google reviews. We were not disappointed. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was great! We had the onion dip appetizer, pimento BLT, steak tacos & peanut butter chocolate pie. Everything was delicious and presented nicely. Highly recommend!

It was a great experience and hope to return as I was visiting from out of town. We'll worth it!

This was my first time being here as well as my bf’s. It was great!! Natasha our server was excellent! She gave us great service, was very attentive, speedy, and very pleasant. She helped me make decisions on my drink choices when I was between two, and also recommended any of the steaks (which me and my bf got). Loved the staff from the hosts, Natasha our server, the gentleman who helped her bring our food out and the other gentleman who stopped cleaning tables to answer my question about where the ladies room was. We had great food, as well as drinks! The atmosphere was great, as we sat next to the fireplace in a booth for a more intimate dinner/conversation. Thank you for taking care of us Village Tavern! We will be back.

Celebrated my girlfriend's birthday. Our server Crystal was amazing and kind. Definitely coming back.

This restaurant was amazing!! The food is absolutely phenomenal, every staff member I interacted with was great, lovely atmosphere. Definitely a great date spot. For how amazing the food was, I was surprised my bill for an appetizer, two dinner entrées, 4 sodas, an alcoholic beverage, AND dessert was only $89. 1000% suggest coming here for a nice night out. Visited for the first time tonight, had a wonderful time. Our server, Joseph, made the experience great. The pimento cheese burger was amazing, the lemon drop is a must have. Joseph recommended the butter cake (pictured below) which was rich and delicious. Will be coming back soon!

It’s no surprise that Im giving this place a 5 star review. This place has good consistent food, and the drinks are spectacular. Elijah took great care of me & my boyfriend, it was a great experience!

This was my first time having dinner here and it was simply amazing! I elected to have the prime rib and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection! For sides I had mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese. The mashed potatoes definitely get an A++ and the mac and cheese was just okay for me, definitely could have used more cheese. Had a couple old fashions from the bar and they were both phenomenal and I can't leave this review without giving props to our fabulous server Courtney (sp). One of the best customer service experiences I have had at a restaurant in quite some time. The server in conjunction with the food definitely secured me coming back in the future when I'm in Birmingham.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The staff were punctual and extremely kind. My family and I had a great experience at this place. The lighting and environment were lit as if it was a fine dinning restaurant with a family friendly oriented goal in mind. I really enjoyed their salad! I don't remember the name of it, but it was tasty. 🙂

What an awesome experience! The service by Rebecca and the food was spot on. Traveling through town and this place was suggested and it did not disappoint. The fish was and seafood was super fresh and the presentation was awesome! We look forward to going back.

Greeters DJ and Amanda welcomed Us with Warm Huge Smiles. When You walk into an establishment and hear singing You know that will be Your Server. Server James was THE Best. Food was Dee-lish-ous!!! Dr. Step and Hubby didn’t wanna take any Pics today. We will return for brunch soon with more family members.

This atmosphere is perfect for any occasion. Christy was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. Spring rolls are the go to for an appetizer. The NEW prime bone in New York strip was well worth the price. I also ordered the blackened chicken pasta which beats most Italian restaurants. Adam the manager came around checking on our food and was great to talk with. We will definitely be back. Keep up the good work….

Met a large group of friends here for dinner and the place was hopping with the happy hour crowd. Since we had some time before others arrived we joined the crowd and ordered the spring rolls and cocktails. The server was Johnny on the despot and the rolls (excellent) and our drinks quickly appeared. As friends gathered we moved to the dining area. I was pleased that they had an ample space for all 20 of us and our server quickly set up water, drinks, and appetizers as we waited for the last of our friends to arrive. We ordered a variety of steaks,, salads, sandwiches, and all were well made, hot, tasty, and more than most could finish. I left with a great lunch for on the road the next day. Don’t know when we’ll be back to Birmingham but I do know we’ll eat here again if we do

French Toast was excellent, grits were very good. The hash brown potatoes were over salted, but cooked correctly. The server never refilled our water and was working too many tables.

This was my first time eating here. I must say the food was amazing. I got the Salmon and Brussel Sprouts. OMG....so good. We had a party of about 10 people and the service was on point. We did have to wait just a tad on our bills but by that time the restaurant business had picked up so that was to be expected. Whenever we make it back to Birmingham I want to come back and grab me some more wonderful Brussel Sprouts

Loved EVERYTHING ABOUT this wonderful place… First off, their Oak Old Fashioned was top notch . Appetizer of spinach dip was damn good, then main course of 8oz Filet was the best I’ve ever had. Cooked medium, but had extraordinary outer crust!! Sides of loaded mashed potatoes and asparagus were also exquisite! My husband had prime rib, rice pilaf and mashed potatoes again were top notch. Our server Steven did an amazing job with service.. we will definitely return to enjoy Village Tavern in the near future. Kudos to this place!!

My sister and I came here on a whim and it was the best experience! The food was so good, definitely recommend getting the sweet potato fries if you like sweet and savory items. Our serve Stephen was so nice! Bathrooms were the one problem but overall definitely recommend checking this place out if you are in town!

Me and my husband went to dinner for our 8 year anniversary. We decided to try somewhere we’ve never been. We had the chicken quesadilla appetizer. I had the New York strip, Mac n cheese, and loaded baked potato. The chicken quesadilla was ok. The rolls were a little bland. BUT the steak was phenomenal! Best steak I’ve had in a long time. The Mac n cheese was delicious and the potato as well. We struggle to find a good steak but after this we will be back!

Our server Crystal made our valentines date so special !!! She was funny & sweet ! Checking on us throughout or meal ! She suggested strawberry lemon drop & steak & both were so delicious!! The food came out hot and was so good . We had the warm butter cake for dessert. Best food ever

Went here for the first time and dined in the lounge. The guy that was working in there was super fun. Next time I'm back I will be going to the lounge if he is there. The food was great. Spinach dip is delicious. Enjoyed the steaks and sides. Good drinks. The peanut butter pie and the Carmel gelato are wonderful.

We always have the best service and food when we dine here. We came on Valentine’s Day for our last visit and had an amazing server named Joseph. All of our food was delicious and came out perfectly as ordered. Adam, Sydni, and the rest of the crew are always top notch!!

So I placed my order after a recommendation from a friend. I was initially pissed off because I was charged $3.99 + service fees for delivery through door dash which should have been zero for a first time order. Then the resturant charged me $7.00 for a order change so that my brother could be happy. I say all this to say they did a outstanding job, the only thing that could make this sweeter is to give my brother another compli army meal free of charge anything off the menu with of course revisions to fit his tastes.

Crystal was our server last night and she was absolutely amazing!! She was very attentive and knew exactly what we needed before we even asked. She suggested the spinach dip and the salmon and it was delicious and we will definitely be back to see her!

I had a meeting for 11 ppl at Village Tavern tonight. The tables were ready when I arrived, Lee at reception was so thoughtful and accommodating to get me in to place the group order, etc. John was attentive and very responsive. The food was delicious. No complaints at all! Village Tavern is consistent and the staff is wonderful!

First time dining here. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The only issue that I had was the pacing of food. We had bar drinks, an appetizer and salads and our food came out before we were done with our salads. Food was excellent and service was good. W will definitely return.we ordered the shrimp and grits and prime rib with sautéed spinach. For an appetizer we had the spinach dip.

I got the Crispy chicken sandwich it was very underwhelming. The sandwich was bland the fries were plain as well. My son got the 20oz ribeye cooked med with sweet potatoe fries and Mac and cheese said it was very good. The first batch of fries was over done but they did replace them. My wife got shrimp Hemingway she said it was very good very light taste. My daughter got the chicken and ham club and sweet potatoe fries she was very impressed. My oldest daughter got the fish and chips said it was ok.

People love this place, but I've never had good luck there. The Thai chicken salad was revolting. I could not eat it. Update 2025 Had a calamari appetizer and the scallop appetizer they were both delicious.

Service was fine. Food was good. I've been here before, but it's not my favorite place because it's dark. Half of the restaurant is built into a hill. I will say this... the desserts are awesome. So yummy and homemade. We took 3 desserts to go and it was so wonderful how they packed everything up with instructions on how to prepare the warm desserts. My favorite item that we ate for this late lunch was the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken.

This was my first time visiting.The restaurant is beautiful, although for us older folks, we needed more light. We used our phone's flashlight to read the menu and ticket. We had the crab dip appetizer and it was great. We loved the garlic toast that came with it. Our entrees were large and everyone took home a to-go box. This is great because the prices are a bit high. Service was overwhelmed because it was super crowded (3 days before Christmas) but handled it decently. A few orders got mixed up but were corrected quickly. Drink refills were not the priority for the staff but again, they were slammed. We chose this restaurant because they take reservations and I am so glad we reserved our time slot. We had a 7 pm reaervation and were seated at 7:10 pm. I'll call that a win over standing in line on such a crowded evening. Overall. we will probably visit them again for lunch on a less busy day.

I visited before and the food was amazing. My second visit was underwhelming. Zucchini squash had way too many tomatoes, undercooked, and not seasoned at all. To go Shrimp & Grits barely had any grits. Maybe it was an off night. Server was great.

I had a great experience at Village Tavern! The place has a warm, inviting atmosphere and the service was excellent. I ordered the fish and chips, and the fish was perfectly cooked — crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, and full of flavor. The only downside was that about half of my fries came out cold, but honestly everything else was so good it didn’t take away from the meal. Our server was awesome — super friendly, attentive, and really made the experience enjoyable. Overall, a solid 4-star visit, and I’ll definitely be back for another round of fish and chips!

This is one of my favorite places. The food is usually well prepared and on time with good service. Today for Sunday brunch, the French toast was undercooked and runny—like eating runny bread. I sent it back and the waitress was happy to take it, seeing that it was runny bread. The chef remade it and brought it out—but it was again runny inside the bread—not cooked. I didn’t feel like sending back again so just ate the fruit and bacon. The others had finished chicken biscuits and a bowl which were spot on. I appreciate this was an off day and generally recommend the steak or any other entrees. The waitress did remove item from my ticket, which is appreciated. Maybe just don’t get French toast.

I expected the restaurant to be better prepared for New Year’s Eve. We had 7:00 reservations and were seated promptly but from there the overall communication amongst the staff went downhill. We ordered drinks which took about 20 minutes to arrive. The martinis had very small pours for $13 drinks. They were small glasses and still were about an inch down from the rim. We ordered entrees and salads and were asked if we wanted our salads out first. We said yes and then the next wait began. Our server never came back by and a couple of us wanted wine with dinner but were unable to order. Our entrees came out and we told them we hadn’t received our salads yet. We were asked if we would take our salads with our meal which were delivered about 5 minutes later. When the server came by about 10 minutes later I finally ordered a glass of wine which was another wait and she finally came back by and said oh, I’m on my wait to get your wine. The server was overwhelmed. They had a very full restaurant and a lot of staff but I think there was too much put on the server herself for the number of tables she was assigned. The food was GREAT, however. The short rib was superb, tender and full of flavor. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The wedge salad was terrific and is right up there amongst the best. I would try again but not at a very busy time of year.

We’ve been to The Village Tavern a few times, and unfortunately, our last two visits have been disappointing. Even with reservations, we were not seated until 30 to 45 minutes after our scheduled time, which made the start of our evening frustrating. On top of that, our orders were incorrect a couple of times, and the meals we received were inconsistent compared to what we had on previous visits. While the atmosphere and location are nice, the service and consistency really need improvement. Hopefully, management can address these issues so future diners have a better experience.

My boyfriend and I came to Village Tavern this weekend, and to say that we were dissapointed is an understatement. We had a good appetizer (the crab cake). My boyfriend's pasta had a long black hair in it. My "medium rare" steak was brown on the inside. Incredibly chewy and dry. Our server was incredibly nice, so we just tipped him well, threw our to go boxes away in the trash can outside of the restaurant and left. I will never go back to this restaurant again.

Have had great experiences up until making a reservation for 7pm and then telling us it would be a 20 or 30 minute wait, 40 minutes goes by and they tell us it will be another 10 or 15 minutes and after an hour of waiting we just left. It is unacceptable to be so incompetent. If I wanted to eat at 8 pm I would have made a reservation for that time but I made a reservation for 7 pm and it can’t be upheld. What happens when I can’t do what I am supposed to do by a certain time??? There’s consequences but this establishment obviously has terrible management that has no concept of up holding a standard. Absolutely ridiculous. I will never go back

Had reservations for 7:30PM came in at 7:26PM was told would be about 20-minutes cause behind no problem. 15-minutes later 2-guys came in, was told same as us 20-minutes behind and was 5th in line. Guy asked manager if could do anything about that. 5-minutes later they was seated... While we was still waiting. We was 4th in line same amount of people 2. Told same thing. But because they asked for special treatment they got bumped ahead of us. Been coming here since 2016 and will never be back. Side note food has changed on last 2-yrs as well, nowhere near as good as used to be.
