Gourmet au Bay is a Bodega Bay gem with delicious food, a great location, and awesome service. The clam chowder, clam pizza, and crab cakes are highly recommended. The staff is friendly and welcoming, especially Brian and Marissa. Some find the paella portion small.

This place is amazing...good food, great location, and awesome service. The crab cakes are to die for and along with their incredible wine selection, makes this a perfect place to visit. If Marissa is working the bar, you'll have even more fun as her personality adds to the incredible experience.
Really nice food, surprisingly well composed given the causal atmosphere. Excellent vegan options (4 dishes either are or can easily be made vegan without compromising flavor altho many omit key ingredients). In what is otherwise a near complete dead zone for even vegan options this place offers many and delicious ones with a great local beer and wine list and very friendly staff.
A Coastal Culinary Gem: Chef Austin O’Donnell’s Magic at Gourmet Au Bay Nestled along Bodega Bay’s picturesque shoreline, Gourmet Au Bay delivers an extraordinary dining experience under Chef Austin O’Donnell’s talented guidance. Chef Austin’s passion was immediately evident as he shared stories about his Napa Valley roots and commitment to farm-to-table ingredients. Randy and I started with perfectly fresh oysters, followed by the Hummus Mezze with house-made pita bread – pillowy inside with just the right char outside. The Beet Salad featured vibrant beets from Soda Canyon alongside foraged greens from Minor Winery, with whipped feta, pistachios, and vadouvan vinaigrette creating perfect harmony. On Chef Austin’s recommendation, we tried the crab roll on his unique milk bread – a revelation of textures and flavors. The highlight was the Smoked Clam pizza, wood-fired to perfection with clams, garlic, olive oil, parsley, and Parmigiano – satisfying my seafood craving perfectly. Though typically not dessert-inclined, the carrot bread with Shasta Plum preserves and pistachio meringue had me practically licking the bowl clean. Chef Austin’s ability to transform locally sourced ingredients into memorable dishes speaks to both his technical skill and deep understanding of flavors. His Napa Valley background shines through in every thoughtful preparation. A special thank you to Chef Sebastian from The Garden at Tannery Bend Beer Works for recommending this hidden gem with its dog-friendly patio and panoramic views. We will certainly be back and encourage others to support this incredible gem in Bodega Bay – a place where exceptional food, warm service, and coastal charm come together perfectly. #GourmetAuBay #BogedaBayDining #ChefAustinODonnell #FarmToTable #CoastalCuisine #NapaValleyRoots #WoodFiredOven #LocalSeafood #LobsterRoll #SmokedClamPizza #BodegaBayGem #DogFriendlyPatio #WineCountry #NorthernCaliforniaEats #FoodieDestination #OceanViewDining #FreshOysters #BeetSalad #HousemadePita #SonomaCoast #CaliforniaCuisine #TanneryBendBeerWorks #CulinaryGem #MustVisitRestaurant
The food was delicious. I'll definitely be back
We stopped here after a hike along the coast. Beers were great, the pizza was delicious and staff super friendly and welcoming. Sit outside and enjoy the peaceful, calm vibes in the sun.
The clam chowder is transformative. Mixed in the wood fired fare and Bay front location is a sublime selection of the finest wine.
You get treated, what else can I say. Staff was super friendly and kept our glasses filled. Including a happy vacationing toddler. Yummy small plates and more. When they ask if you want dessert and they say butterscotch pudding, the answer is yes. Parking plentiful. Great views.
Nice restaurant nestled away from the major crowds. Beautiful view outside and nice hosts. We ordered ceviche and mussels. The flat bread that came with the ceviche itself was very good and overall both were good. The quantity of the mussels were really good for the price. Would definitely recommend. Ample parking space was available. Restroom was also very well maintained.
They only loose one star on the food because they didn't have any dessert. The rest was a perfect 5 stars: excellent food, great location, amazing view, and the most friendly staff we've seen in a long time! Keep it up and just add some desserts
We ate here on a Monday night, not too crowded. We had the wedge Caesar, the clam chowder, and we did the "wine surfing" (wine sampler). Everything was delicious! The Caesar dressing was creamy and had such good flavor. The clam chowder was thick and had nice big chunks of potatoes and clams. So good!! We felt the prices were very reasonable and the portions were big. The salad and soup were enough as a main meal. We will definitely be back!
This was a surprise spot as we took a turn and there it was! A happy wrong turn! You order and pay at the hostess station and your food is brought to you. You can always open another tab and order more from your table, but, paying in advance makes it so nice as you can leave as soon as you want without having to flag down your server!
Great food, excellent service. We had crab cakes, and a delicious beet salad. We tried some of the wines which were also very good. Overall definitely recommend.
Holy hell! Beautiful meal and setting. COVID compliant. Knowledgeable staff. Dishes are thoughtfully curated to create complex and complimentary taste with clean flavors. Perfectly cooked salmon. Wood fired mushrooms were a delight. Sorry the mushroom/cheese dish picture is mangled, I was too excited.
As a person who lives in the Midwest and rarely gets fresh seafood, this place was a dream. My husband and I shared a smoked clam pizza and the paella (multiple different seafood included) and both were INCREDIBLE. The pilsner on tap was good, too. The service was great, and looking out on the Bay was also great! Would definitely come again!

I was looking for something different and saw their oyster pizza. I was feeling brave, so I had it. Amazing. My wife had the best clam chowder she ever had. Brian was amazing. It was beautiful on the deck. We went back the next day and took some family. We had what we had the day before, plus potato cheese fondue. Again, everything, including the wine was flavorful and we will be back on our next trip. This is the type of restaurant and food that justifies driving out of the way to get to.
Very kind, very professional. Amazing views. Great local wine list and the chefs always do a great job in their Wood-Fired ovens. A nice refuge to the otherwise tourist traps. Great alternative to enjoy the afternoon or evening with a small bite and a glass of wine.

One of our favorite places to visit in Bodega Bay is Gourmet Au Bay. Brian, Marissa and staff are always welcoming. Chef's menu is creative, using fresh, local ingredients, with dishes bursting with flavor. The Clam Pizza, Paella, seasonal salads are all delicious. Great wines by the glass or bottle. And DOG FRIENDLY!!!!!!!! The views of the bay, birds and seals make this a perfect place to relax and enjoy !
We were really disappointed with the paella. The portion was more like an appetizer or small entrée rather than a main dish, especially for the $25 price tag. It came with just five small shrimp and a single piece of fish, and unfortunately, it lacked the richness and depth you’d expect from an authentic Spain paella. Definitely not worth the price.
Good spot before heading back to SF from north Bay. There is outdoor seating both inside the “backyard” and front of he door with good view. Among all the dishes ordered, wood fire grilled Salmon has the upper hand. Mussels were a bit dried. Poke and Crab sandwich were ok.

Food tastes so good here. Menu and serving size is just right for healthy eating. Very friendly staff and cozy atmosphere.
It took so long for the waitress to bring our menus that we started to leave and she finally remembered us. Ordered a salad and pizza. When the salad arrived 30 minutes later, the other waiter told us they were out of pizza dough but we could order something else. We just had the salad and left.

Too expensive for the portions they serve! Average price of food per person is above $30. We’ve been here many times but we will not return. Serving was poor. We ordered the fish and the crab sandwich. The fish came first. Both orders were not served at the same time, and when the sandwich was served it came without the chips. We had to wait for the chips over 20 minutes. To our surprise the chips portion was astonishing small. The whole table ordered three orders of chips. The three portions practically came out of one potato! That small! For $32 I expected more!!
