We were lucky enough to be placed at what many consider the prime spot in the restaurant, right beside an engraved display of the Declaration of Independence. It immediately set a memorable tone for the evening. Since reservations were filling up fast and we didn’t want to miss our chance to dine there, we booked on the spot without even taking the time to review the full menu. It felt like a bit of a spontaneous decision, but the setting alone made it worth it. The historical touch added a unique charm to the experience, making the night feel special before the food even arrived.
This place is in what appears to be a restored old building right on the water. The atmosphere was very nice, chandeliers hung from high ceilings, stained wood everywhere, it was very cozy. The service was great, first some of the best bread we ever had was brought out, it was just the tiniest but set, with warm butter, that was a highlight! Then we got a dozen oysters, they were nice and briny without being fishy at all. Squeeze a little lemon on there and top with a bit of horseradish for the perfect way to start the meal. My wife got the prime rib and medium rare, it was just a bit rarer than she normally likes but she ended up loving it! got a filet. It was one of the most tender I've ever gotten, and the crust was impeccable. It was on the rarer side as well, halfway between rare and medium rare, exactly how like it! We each got a side of mashed potatoes, which were great, nice and buttery with some garlic mixed in perfectly. Finished it off with creamed spinach, which had some breadcrumbs that didn't like but my wife found integral and quite enjoyed. We also got very dirty martinis that were fantastic. Definitely coming back here!
Thought this place was great. Very large bar area and dining space. The mussels were great, tasted very fresh. I thought the prime rib was excellent as well. Service was friendly and professional.
I had myself the Miso Sake Glazed Black Cod, honestly, it's a very sophisticated flavor, everything about the plate was executed almost to perfection. I'm definitely having this again next time I come back. Thank you so much, David, for your attention, which saved us a lot of time ordering since you speak Spanish too. Food came out relatively fast, and so did dessert. Overall, I definitely think this is a must! [Sorry I ate dessert too fast and forgot to take a photo]
We truly enjoyed dinner in the cozy, festively decorated lounge on Tuesday night. From the extensive specialty cocktail menu to the incredible food and amazing service, everything was exceptional. The kimchee calamari was a standout, the lobster and shrimp carbonara was rich and perfectly prepared, and lava cake dessert was the perfect finishing touch! Nothing was left to be desired. An outstanding dining experience from start to finish, we will definitely be back!!
Boston's Chart House provides the ideal fusion of breathtaking views of the harbor, a cozy atmosphere, and superb seafood. The service was polite and attentive, and the prime rib and lobster were prepared to perfection. Unquestionably one of Boston's best waterfront dining experiences, it's perfect for special events or romantic nights. Strongly suggested!
Had a lovely meal at the bar. It was quite busy when I arrived at 7:30pm on a Sunday night. Thr bartender was very busy, but she was attentive to each guest. I started the meal clam chowder. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly medium rare and the parsnip puree and pistachios paired well with it. Finished the meal with a mini lava cake. The location was great - right on the harbour!
Really great experience. Ate there twice in 3 days because it was so good. Great service, friendly staff. Food is fantastic. The Miso glazed Black Cod was our favorite of the dishes. We walked in around 7-8 pm on a weekday for 2 people, no reservation. You need to wait 10-20 min for food. Extensive menu with many options. Primarily seafood with some steak options. Highly recommend
The vibe at the chart house is very nice. The building is gorgeous. The service tonight was a little slow, but our server was very nice and knowledgeable. The food and drinks were really good! Would definitely recommend!
GREAT restaurant, food, and exceptional service by our server Kendall. It was my wife’s birthday and Kendall made our dining experience very special. I would recommend Chart House.
Chart House is great spot for date night or dinner with visitors from out of town. They have great food options and a full happy hour menu. Diana is amazing and makes the best hot toddy in town!
I’m so glad we came across Chart House. We were planning to sit outside, but we were talked into sitting upstairs and I’m so glad we did. If and when you come here, please ask for Joseph to be your waiter. He is the kindest, most attentive, and knowledgeable waiter we’ve ever had. He told us about the history of the building which completely captivated us. The prime rib and lobster tail were amazing. Best prime rib I’ve ever had. I can’t say enough great things about Chart House and Joseph.
My wife and I had an amazing dinner! From Tim, the awesome valet who provided some historical information about the area to the atmosphere that was warm and inviting, with a great rustic but modern feel that set the perfect mood for our dinner. The highlight of our experience was our waiter, Andres. He was absolutely fantastic—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. He made great recommendations and ensured that every detail of our meal was perfect. It’s rare to find service that is both professional and genuinely warm, but Andres nailed it! The food was outstanding—every dish was cooked to perfection, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. From the appetizers to the dessert, everything exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!
We had the calmari, ceaser salad, filet mignon with chimichuri butter, shrimp linguine, and lava cake. Calamari are amazing ! My husband loved the steak, I thought the linguine was missing more more spices to it. Lava cake was divine. The atmosphere is amazing and the building is beautiful.
Well where do I start! 🤩 this place is awesome! Few options for seating area! Either outside, 1st 2nd or 3rd floor ( 3rd FL reservation needed) very nice and clean restaurant! , the staff was very friendly and welcoming! The food is 5 stars⭐️ ! Very delicious and cooked to perfection 😋, I had a fillet Mignon steak 🥩 and a Lobster 🦞, so delicious! The staff will take lobster apart for you) I’ve had this done at a restaurant, very cool 😎! this is an expansive restaurant so expect to pay at least $50 per person if you order Lobster 🦞 or Fillet mignon 🥩 steak. However it’s worth every dollar 💵! Definitely recommend this restaurant, stop by and try it out for yourself.
My husband and I visited Chart House this past Friday for an early Valentine’s dinner, and it was the highlight of our week. We opted for bar seating, which turned out to be the best decision of the night thanks to the incredible service. A huge shout out to Danny and Manuela! They were both exceptionally kind, personable, and truly went above and beyond: Custom Service: I requested blue cheese stuffed olives (which aren't usually on the menu), and Danny didn't hesitate to make them from scratch just for me. Expert Mixology: Manuela crafted a phenomenal pineapple tequila drink for my husband that was perfectly balanced. Local History: Beyond the drinks, we were so impressed by their knowledge of the historic building. It added such a cool, intellectual layer to our dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere of the wharf is hard to beat. If you’re looking for great vibes and a staff that actually cares about the details, this is the spot. Highly recommended!
This restaurant is located very close to the Aquarium, which made it super convenient since we had an event nearby. We made a reservation just to be safe. Once we walked in, we were served fresh bread - really good, soft, and warm. I wasn’t a fan of the crackers, but that’s just because I generally don’t like toasted sesame seeds. For drinks, I got a mocktail with cucumber and honey, which was refreshing and light. My partner ordered a bourbon with chocolate, and it was amazing - the garnish was a big chocolate sphere with a cherry on top. For food, I ordered a medium-rare tuna steak that came with orzo, and my partner got the mahi bake. Both dishes were good (solid 4/5, but I wouldn't put it as 5/5 simply because I've had these dishes better elsewhere). We skipped dessert since we were pretty full by then. Overall, it was a good experience and surprisingly affordable (around $100 for two drinks and two entrées).
Coconut shrimp was good, drinks took a while. Prime rib was pretty good, not the best I’ve had. Service was slow but fine. Forgot one of our sides and didn’t bring until we were finished with our mains.. they comped dessert as a result. Chocolate lava cake was good, everything about this restaurant was a 4 IMO. Don’t expect to be wowed but everything was serviceable.
My family and I had just an okay time here. We loved the calamari to start, but were a bit disappointed in the more lackluster entrees. The risotto (in the sea bass + lobster risotto) was really good, but the fish was chewy and the flavors were boring and uninspired. Similarly, the chef’s choice of the crab stuffed sole felt heavy with muddled flavors. Lava cake dessert was good, but our server said the creme brûlée was warm when it was actually cold, so the communication could have been better there (he meant that the top should’ve been warm, which it still wasn’t, but he didn’t specify that when we asked him originally)
Absolutely Disgusting and Unacceptable I cannot believe what just happened at what’s supposed to be a high-end steakhouse. I was halfway through my steak and lobster tail ( an expensive meal) when a cockroach crawled right out from under my plate. Yes, you read that correctly: a cockroach. The waiter actually killed it right on the table, next to my food. When I told the manager, their response was unbelievably casual. They said, “We sprayed for them today, so that usually happens when we attack their homes.” Seriously?! That’s their explanation for a roach showing up on a dinner plate at a supposedly fine dining restaurant? As if that weren’t insulting enough, they only took off the sides and appetizer from the bill. Not the main dish that the bug literally came out from. The lack of professionalism, cleanliness, and basic customer care is astounding. If you value hygiene, class, or even basic decency, stay far away from this place. I wouldn’t go back if they paid me. Absolutely revolting.
